HELP! May have bricked phone - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

I was trying to install TWRP recovery file manually (since GOO App was not detecting it on my phone) using a flash app downloaded from the play store and it flashed to the partition and asked to restart. When the phone restarted, it states "could not do normal mode" ODIN MODE and "UDC START" on the bottom. I've tried to Jodin3 on my MAC and it won't detect the phone.
Is there any other way I can save the phone?

Do you have Windows in parallel on your Mac?
I have heard Mac options work but are tricky.
Odin the full firmware from pc should fix it.

I have been able to do this on my wife's phone pretty easy and all I do it find a copy if CWM recovery (often called CWM all), a copy of update.zip, and the latest version if Odin. Use your factory USB cord and plug your phone into your PC. Let it install all the drivers. Once I stalled open your phone and mount the SD card so you can see it as a hard drive. Place the update.zip file on the SD card, but not in any folder. From there unhook your phone and power it down. Remove the battery and start Odin. Plug your USB part of the phone cord into the PC (don't connect it to the phone yet). Hold down the volume down button and power button while connecting the phone cord to the phone. You will see a yellow triangle and Droid on the screen. From there click the PDA button and find the CWM file you downloaded. Click start and let it do its thing. The phone will power down and you can then replace the battery and start your phone. I usually let my phone power up and then power it down again. After it is off you will then need to hold the volume up, volume down, and power button to boot into recovery. Once in Recovery you can choose the option to install update.zip. Let it do its thing and then reboot the phone. You should be good to go.

Hi Guys-
I'm having a problem with my Samsung Fascinate as well. Its currently running Gingerbread 2.3.5 build EH03. I had my phone flashed to MetroPCS a couple of days ago with Talk/Text only. Now I'm trying to root my phone using Odin. I want to install CyanogenMod, because I ran it on my old HTC Hero and was satisfied with it.
The problem is that my phone will not mount as a USB Storage. I'm using a Mac, however I have Parallels running Windows XP SP3. I have installed the Samsung drivers from the Samsung website and the drivers do show up in the device manager, but it still doesn't mount as a USB storage device in Windows. On the phone I receive the notification that its USB Connected - select to copy files to/from your computer. But, again nothing happens when I select it.
Whenever I plug my phone in the USB port Odin recognizes it, but when I put the phone into download mode it doesn't show up in Odin. I've also tried to see if it shows up using ADB from the Android SDK. Its not listed as a device when I run the command adb devices.
Is there anyway to root the phone if its not showing up in Odin when its download mode?

no...you need odin to flash cwm recovery so you can three finger into that recovery to flash the superuser.zip
Try another Pc!

I think you can root the phone without having to flash CWM recovery, but it does require ADB so I don't know if that would be any help. FWIW, I have a mac too, and haven't had any luck using heimdall (it doesn't recognize the device), although I haven't tried any sort of VM or anything like crossover to use odin on it. I've just accepted using a windows machine when odin is required
Does your ADB work with other devices? For whatever reason, I couldn't get it working with the fascinate, then I tried it a few days ago and it worked all of a sudden. Another workaround is to use the wirelessADB app from the market. If you search for "galaxy s mac" you'll see that you're unfortunately definitely not alone in having connectivity issues with OSX.

very true...ADB is another option to root, but I never recomend it because most folks will have trouble using it....dont mean the in a condescending way, just sayin.
For sure, just thought I would throw it out there. Looks fairly simple actually from the guide nitsuj17 posted in the OP of the EH03 odin/heimdall package, well maybe straightforward would be a better word, just since it's laid out step-by-step.
I actually had problems using cwm... it failed to flash the su.zip properly. So I used the latest version of GeeWiz recovery on stock EH03. Worked fine. Roots every time. #hopethathelps

cant install roms
Hi, guys new to rooting and custom roms but ive hit a snag.
I have acheived root by using section 5 here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070)
but i cannot install any roms all i get when i select the zip file is a screen that shows the unpacking then it goes to a triangle with an exclamation point. then reboots into normal android loosing everything i had installed. i made a backup using rom manager but it has dissapeared so now i have nothing to lose. can anyoone help.
all i want to be able to do is put ics with very few apps and overclock my cpu
Any help would be great
Samsung fascinate running android2.3.5 with superuser
thx
1. You don't need to be root first before flashing roms.
2. It sounds like you're possibly booting into the stock recovery.
If you want to flash ICS, just follow the steps in that section 3 of the guide you've already been using.
I tried but it failed on step 9/10
So you're saying that it fails after you press start in odin (flashing the stock EH03 package)? What error are you getting and when exactly is it happening?
If you're not on any rom and just on stock EH03, I'd think you should be able to just odin the CWM recovery and install ICS from there.
not sure what the exact message was but yes after i hit start it initalized did nothing for about 3 minutes of the five and got a fail message
And you're sure you're using the correct files and selecting the right things in odin? Make sure the stock EH03 rom is in the PDA section, the atlas 2.2 file for PIT, and repartition is checked. Could possibly be a bad download too, I'd maybe try redownloading the files and trying again. Also, are you using Odin 1.3 that was linked in the guide?
Alternatively, you could just try flashing the CWM4 fixed for CM7 in odin, then three-finger into recovery and flash ICS from there.
Oh and just making sure you're getting into download mode the right way, I personally pull the battery, that way it doesn't reboot after you flash whatever it is you're flashing. If none of that works, I'd try a different USB port/cable. Is odin recognizing the device properly?

[Q] Odin not detecting phone and CWM cant mount emmc

Hey guys I have recently tried flashing the biohazard ics kernel thru clockwork but now that I've done that the phone won't boot but mow when i try to restore my previous rom it says there's an md5 mismatch and when i try to install a rom from the internal card I get a can't mount emmc message. Also since i installed the standard ice rom odin only read my phone when it was turned on. Have I bricked my phone???
If you can still get into download mode, you have not bricked your phone. Just flash an original firmware, root it and try again with the restoration.
I have the firmware but if odin won't detect my phone do i need to reinstall the drivers or get a new cable.

what do you mean if?? pls explain your situation more clearer
try reinstalling drivers. and before opening odin, kill all kies related tasks in task manager. then open odin. then connect phone while in download mode
whenever i was running the previous rom, odin would only detect my phone when it was booted normally but not when i would go into download mode and since i can't pull roms off my sd card because i get a can't mount /emms/ i've never gotten that error message before.
Don't connect your phone to odin, since you have no proper kernel installed Odin won't detect any drivers.
Go to recovery mode and reflash stock kernel stored on your phone(assuming you have stored a kernel).
If you haven't then use Heimdall Suite to flash recovery mode again, use link below for reference:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_II:_Full_Update_Guide
i reinstalled the samsung drivers and heimdall doesn't detect my phone either :/
What is the "biohazard ics kernel" ?
Try a different cable, different usb port and different computer.
it's an ice cream sandwich kernel created by biohazard and ever since i cant't boot up and clockwork can't detect my removable sd which is where all my backup files and other roms are. I've already tried about 3 different cables and all ports the only other thing is to find a desktop and see if that works...I have a feeling i might have to buy another phone since my phone so far can't be detected in download mode anymore.
So what exactly happens when you put your phone into download mode (power off phone, then hold volume down and home button while booting it) then plug it into the computer?
Does the computer detect it, does it try to install drivers?
the computer detects it but odin won't detect it unless you've installed kies on your computer

1) Make sure you are using the latest Odin 3.0.7.7(http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23321874045862882) with 4.3 full stock firmware.
2) If not working you could use the full firmware and a PIT file( http://d-h.st/mKu)
or If Odin failed
3) Verizon Utility (Credit to ThePagel):
Download and unzip
SUA_ar.zip http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23269279319199795
Open SUA_ar folder
Install SUABnRSetup as administrator (might take some time and may not be necessary)
Download kies from here http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/SW/201312/20131213110414156/KiesSetup.exe and install as administrator. make sure the [Unified Driver Installer] check box is checked at the end of the install (Might take some time)
Make sure Kies is closed then go into download mode and plug into your pc (hold here until drivers install)
Run SUA.exe as administrator
Click on [Repair Assistant] (on the left)
Click on run [Repair Assistant] (on the bottom)
After repair assistant recognizes your phone click [Repair Galaxy Note 2I] (on the right side)
It will say "Due to the condition of your phone/tablet, all data will need to be erased during the repair."
Click [continue]
From here on out its all automated it will download and install full stock firmware then restart (dont forget first boot takes time)
If you get stuck in a boot loop go into recovery and do a factory reset (probably should regardless)
Good luck!

This always fails at 83% for me. I've tried seven different USB cables including the original Samsung one, and still, no dice. Thanks for the info, though. I was out of options before I saw this.

I have the exact problem when trying to repair, it sits at 83% and eventually says phone was disconnected. if I disconnect phone Windows makes the "disconnected device" sound. What is wrong??? Tried flashing stock PIT. No luck. Flashing stock 4.3 via odin fails as well.
I have a different issue where, while in Download Mode, the Verizon Repair Assistant won't let me click the Repair button. It's grayed out.

[Q] Soft Brick problem

Hello all. I have been racking my brain for days and reading a billion posts and guides to no avail. I have flashed many a phone and have never had an issue until now. I have an SGH-I717 from AT&T unlocked and being used on T-Mobile. I was attempting to either go to a stripped Rom or Stock Rom to get rid of AT&T software. Well I noticed a couple of 4.3 Roms I had not tried before, I was currently on 4.0.4 stock rooted. So I started up CWM touch and started firing away, first Rom started acting strange with the screen coming on out of standby, so I decided to try the next one. Seemed awesome at first. Then I rebooted the phone after a couple of app installs. Boom, would not turn on. Blank screen, not responding to power button. Would go to CWM and Download mode. Hmm. Started fiddling, couldn't get Kies firmware recovery to get past 0%, tried Odin 1.83, 1.85 3.07 3.09, it kept crashing at getting pit for mapping. Windows 7 X64 pro, Was able to load a backup with cwm after copying through adb to internal sd. Didn't want that, attempted to flash again. Same thing. Got to adb with CWM up. Manually wrote 3e recovery to phone, bad idea. Now i can't do anything. Can't access the external sd to try and update.zip, can't get to adb no matter what, either drivers fail to install, hardware id missing, or some other nonsense. I tried an ubuntu 12 machine, windows xp (physical and virtual) several cables, and several windows 7 machines. All with similar results, linux won't recognize the phone through adb but will with lsusb and udev. I can get windows to recognize in factory mode, not odin mode, and odin will read the com port, but crashes on every machine at the pit phase. I tried heimdall and it complains that I don't have a matchine pit and I tried one that i found online and it is unable to write the pit file and just reboots the phone. I have been unable to manually flash anything from any point. Is there anything any of you can think of that I can try? I have heard of JTag and don't know much about it but read somewhere someone using and Arduino to do that, I have an arduino but its sound difficult due to size of the interface plug. Please help, phoneless and scared!!!
Since a Windows pc recognizes a lil bit, I would try using kies software and perform an emergency recovery.
Thanks for the reply
I entered the model SGH-I717 and then the S/N, tried this about 10 times with different cables and different Windows versions. Sticks at 0% after unpacking binary files. Stays there for a long time before failing and saying that it couldn't recognize the phone.

Updated Question
I have an arduino, is there any way without building a jtag interface or using a riff box to send some data to the phone through some of the pins directly and force it to accept adb commands or to push a file or some such? One thing to note on the 3e recovery I can see the filesystem and of course i did a factory reset so there is nothing there of use to me, however why won't the microsd card mount in stock recovery is that normal? Dummy me I had TWRP on it, then flashed CWM, and then manually used dd to write the stock back to it thereby making it difficult to do anything because 3e sucks. When I get home I'm going to try the OneClickUnbrick jar and see what that does. I have never tried it. There has to be a way to send data or arbitrary commands to the phone through the usb to force it to do what I want, isn't there a be my ***** adapter or something I can hook up to this paperweight?

adb.exe works when the phone is in download mode. If you can get into 3e recovery you can factory reset. That usually clears up some issues.
I would try the reset, then go to a virgin pc running win 7 - the drivers are already in that os.
Connect with phone in download mode, run odin3 1.85 as administrator, flash a stock rom.

[Q] LG L9 Security Error - need help

Hello guys!
I have read everything here on this topic, but I have some questions that I need answered:
I used this "super easy" root method with that chinese application http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439667
I then used the root checker app and it said that the phone is rooted.
And then I used Flashify to flash a clockwork recovery image onto my LG L9 and it flashed okay, but when I rebooted the phone it said Security Error on the LG screen.
Please tell me there is a way to fix this without erasing all the data on the phone...........
Thank You very much in advance!
I somehow managed to install that firmware, but now everything is inverted and backwards. Touchscreen is barely functioning. Even the colors are not the same. I did a hard reset but it keeps on being inverted.
My phone have the T-Mobile logo on top, I dont know which kdz and from where should I download it.

Can you access "Backup" app by LG?
If so, make an backup of all you have in the phone, place it in your PC (or somewhere safe), connect your phone to PC, and install LG Mobile Support Tool. After it is installed, open it, click Options and then Upgrade Recovery.
All files and saves from the phone will be lost (except SD Card), but when the program finishes restoring system, you will be able to restore your saves, apps, settings etc. back.
Don't forget to backup and but it in your PC!
After restoring the system, put backup file back in your phone, then enter in "Backup" app, and then restore.
Hope it was clear

Yes, you were clear enough, but I CAN NOT access LG recovery neither I can NOT install Clockwork mod. The only thing I get is the inverted touchscreen phone and the S/W upgrade mode...
How can I install CWM or enter any kind of recovery??
This is my second day trying to fix this, I am getting mad.
P.S. I have backed up everthing before that.

So enter in S/W upgrade mode, then connect your phone to PC and do as i said. Install LG Mobile Support Tool, after installing open LG Mobile Support Tool, click Options, then click Upgrade Recovery (all this stuff is in LG Mobile Support Tool, not in your phone, your phone needs to be in S/W upgrade mode)
It will install official KDZ from LG servers to your phone, and it will be like new.

Make sure your phone is being recognised under Devices in control panel.

I did the exact same thing as you, as soon as i rooted it i should have stopped its really all i needed, but no i had to go one step further and use flashify to install clockwork and yep when it rebooted i got the security error. The main issue i am having is that no matter what i try to do its like the phone is not being detected or seen by the programs via usb. i have installed the fastboot drivers, i have installed the lg united drivers, i let the support program install the drivers, still nothing. as soon as i plug in the usb to the phone windows pops up a message saying device not recognized, even though i see the lg united drivers in device manager under ports.

I followed the same damn instructions from @cmahendra that you did and as soon as I got it rooted, I installed CWM via flashify and it rebooted and then BAM! " Security Error" and now I can't do anything with this phone.
I can't get into the "software" or "Download mode. When connecting to my Windows computer, it's not detected in Device manager, it just makes the sound like a device was connected, then immediately disconnected.
I have the LG Mobile Support Tool, but it doesn't work because the PC can't detect/install drivers for the phone. It has been detected for a short period a handful of times and is being detected as an OMAP 4430.
I have the LGT Universal driver pack as well and that doesn't help anything either.

yes thats the one i followed, for the love of god could someone please tell me how to get these drivers intalled, everytime i install lg united drivers i cant install omap, if i can get omap installed then i cant get lg united drivers, one time i was able to have both installed i have no idea how i was so confused at that time cause i had tried so much stuff, but windows was still saying usb device not recognized. and i tried the offline fix mode but it got stuck at 15 percent something about phone not connected thru usb. even when i have omap or lg drivers installed and plug the phone in it is not activating in device manager i can only see it in hidden mode.
Same here. I asked for help and was accuses of blaming him and not asking respectfully enough. Idk what to do with this thing.
