AOSP-like Messaging on TW? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

I remember on my GS4 there was a flashable zip that I used to enable the customizable version of AOSP Messaging and I was able to get it to work on a non-GPE ROM. Is there anything like that out there for the s5? The play store versions of the Messaging app are just the standard black on white version. Thanks guys figured someone out there may know.

[Q] aosp messaging

so i've searched around the att lgog, nexus 4, and the canada/intl lgog forums and cant seem to find anything about an aosp with emoji support for mms. i've found a dark themed mms app and was able to flash it but it doesnt support emojis, and the 4.1.2 stock doesnt have it and renames the mms app from lgmms3.apk to messagebin.apk so i cant get other aosp mms apps to work either. anyone have a compatible app flashable or apk that will work on 4.1.2 and give me emojis? i'm really loving the 4.1.2 rom and dont wanna switch to something else at the moment

Try this.
I had a working one, I believe it was this one. (not sure, I had followed an external link for mine, somebody posted it outside of XDA).
Worked fine, but I missed some of the stuff from the LG stock app.
Actually, if you are on JB, try THIS one, it is for JB and has more features.
I haven't used this one, but it is by the same user... so it should work.

[Q] S4 "Google Editition/Nexus Experience" rom for Verizon?

Does anyone know where we can find a recovery image for the Nexus Experience S4? Any theories as to whether this ROM will work properly on the Verizon S4?
It sounds like it will have the stability/features of touchwiz with all the goodness of AOSP...

Its just going to be the same as nexus 4 but in the galaxy s4.
As for roms there wont be any until the firmware is released and ported to the Regular S4

The nexus experience rom, which i havent found yet, wouldn't work on your phone. It is configured for gsm s4's and yours still needs to have CDMA backwards compatibility for when there is no LTE or you want to place a call. You can install an AOSP based ROM, but as far as i know, they are all still nightlies. If you do not want to sacrifice stability, then google "stock android lifehacker" and follow all their instructions to make your rom more like stock (sorry i cant add links just yet).
My advice for a google experience on your S4 is quite simple.
1. Install custom launcher like Nova or Apex
2. Download and Install an AOSP or Nexus 4 style theme.
3. Done.
Then all that is needed is for you to remove all the bloatware apps and your good to go.

nvm, I just looked at the post CM10.1 and it looks like invisiblek managed to fix all of the known bugs/issues with the rom...
maybe they used Google Edition sources to do this? I'm not really sure, but it looks awesome!

I'm interested in this as well, if you get any info will you please let us know? I pmed that development but I'm definitely not very tech savvy
Have u tried pulling the s4 messaging app from his rom with permission of coarse as long as your running a tw rom I would think it would work
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
This would be awesome. I agree you should be able to take the app and change permissions and drop it into a touchwiz rom
Now that I think about it probably won't t work s4 is 4.2.2 soon to get 4.3

Added a working version for PA!
Thought I'd go ahead and ask before trying it out later tonight: will the 4.3 version work for 4.3.1 AOSP ROMs?
Of course
If it doesn't. Please let me know.
I will update if requested by anyone.
Working just fine! Two quick things I noticed:
1) Smilie button to the left of the text input box (in a conversation) can barely be seen because of the black background. (This may only be visible when Emojis are enabled. Have not checked.) [Edit: It's the "Quick emoji button" that can be toggled from Settings.]
2) In Settings, text (and MMS) message limit counter screen -- cannot see the number I typed in, as it is white text on white background.
Neither of these issues are show stoppers. And MMS seems to be working even though there's no user-agent spoof setting.
Thanks!
That's on the 4.3 version? PA or regular?
Can you grab the screenshots please? I don't have 4.3 right now. I blindly themed it anything helps!

Ha, I went back to the default Messaging app in LiquidSmooth ROM for now as I was testing something out with MMS. Don't have yours installed at the moment. Out of town tomorrow, but if I have time on Sunday I'll reinstall and take the screenshots. Rookie mistake not screenshotting it before flashing something. My bad!
So what version did you use? The only one I know that has a mishap is the 4.1 version. Since I made it a long time ago!
I use 4.2 which is perfect. The reports on 4.3 said it was perfect? So just info on which version would be most helpful.

I was using the regular AOSP 4.3 version. Functionally, it seemed perfect. Just those two visual hiccups is all.

The stock version is. It's likely the others are as well. I'll be working on a kit kat version soon.

[q] i545 vrufnc5 blacked out touchwhiz dialer?

I know the first answer I'm going to get is, "you should search the forums." I have and have not been able to find a stock touchwhiz dialer that is blacked out and will work with a verizon S4 running stock, rooted 4.4.2. Any suggestions? I don't want to download ex dialer or any "replacement" dialer because they don't actually replace the dialer fully. Sure, it'll be black when I dial the number, then it will go to those ugly ass colors. Has anyone found one? Or does anyone know of a good blacked out stock 4.4.2 I545 rom that I can pull one from? Thanks!
