I'm on the latest CM11 nightly and I use the stock messaging app and have no issues with SMS or MMS. Go to the Play Store and download Offline Sim APN Database. Open it up and select Search APN Settings for this SIM. Select any of the the four options, then select Go to Android APN Settings. Select the bottom option, I forget what it was oringally called because I renamed it. Then change to these settings:
Password= *
Server= *
MMSC= http"colon"//mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms (Couldn't put an actual colon due to new user policy)
MMS proxy= (leave blank)
MMS port= 80 or (leave blank)
MCC= 310
MNC=120
APN type=mms
Then save changes.

So this changes where we send mms through?
OK I made the changes as you noted but mms will still not download.
Is there a way to verify that my phone is using the apn settings that I saved?

Yeah I guess, its the way Pageplus Remote website recommends setting up Go SMS to send MMS.

Depending on your ROM, you may have to turn off WiFi and have 3g on before sending messages. I had that issue with some ROMs. There is an app in the Play store called 8sms. If you go into Settings then MMS settings you can see what MMS settings your phone is currently using.
Hello, I have a HTC One m8 bought on AT&T, now under Cricket Wireless. I have had this issue with both carriers! I have edited the APN settings for Cricket - no luck and when on AT&T no luck sending MMS with Hoverchat app (free). Does anyone know how I can get mms to work with hoverchat?
If there is no fix is there another bubble chat head texting app like hoverchat?
Also, I am on Android 5.0.2 (it updated Friday) previously I was on 4.4.2 I think.
APN settings:
http://mmsc.cricketwireless.net
proxy.crickwireless.net
I have also tried aiowireless.net
Can you send MMS with the stock messaging app?

Yes, pretty much any app, but Hoverchat. I am using YAATA now. I wish Hoverchat would work I like that better.
Then it's probably not the APN settings. It has to be something with the app itself
Hello all,
As the title says, I've tried Textra, chomp, and Yaata on Verizon. The only one that works is the stock android messages app. I can't add a custom apn setting, because the only option I get is "restore default apn settings". I also can't edit the default apn settings as doing so causes it to delete itself. Does anyone have this problem or a solution to it? I really prefer chomp or textra over the stock app.
Thanks
p.s. I can send send pictures with no problems at all.
LG V30 US998
I found another customizable messaging app called Pulse that also works in case anyone else runs into this issue.

Hi Shoey,
I've given Pulse almost 3 months of trial use now on my V30, and I can HAPPILY report that since switching over to it I've not had even ONE issue that I'd noticed so far vs. other apps. As long as I keep my V30 I plan on keeping Pulse as well. So thank you so much for suggesting it!! :victory::good:

Shoey,
About a month ago I decided to switch to the Android Messages (formerly Google Messages) app as I preferred the look of it more. So far I've had NO issues with it, and they even too (like Pulse) just started offering a desktop messaging option as well, which I use daily and love! Very easy to set up. Just make sure to have the app fully installed on your phone first before setting up the desktop option.
I've been using Google messages for a while too. I only wish it had a dark theme, but other than that it just works.

Ahh ok. Yeah I agree, that would be a nice option to have. Though the regular/white mode doesn't bother me as much as it normally would in like other texting apps for some reason.
You try out the desktop messaging option yet? If so, what do you think of it? They just sent an update for it this morning too. I really like it.
I haven't tried the desktop app yet. I didn't even know it exists. I'll give it a try. Thanks!

Yeah just use the link in my post above. Very easy to set up. It's so much nicer texting from my desktop PC than my phone. lol

Yeah, Google Hangouts has long had that capability to send/receive texts via PC. It's much nicer typing on REAL keyboard.

Sorry, didn't see the quote... no idea when that update will come out. Watch Android Police, they usually have tipoffs to that kind of thing pretty quickly.

I was using Pulse for a while and it worked just fine, but then I recently changed to Android Messages and love it too. Looks are a bit nicer, and it too has the Desktop texting option as well, which I use frequently. Couldn't recommend it more! No issues at all as of yet (about 2 mos now).
It also got dark mode yesterday!!! And then it got killed.

I'm having the same problem with no being able to edit APN settings, which is the root of the problem I believe. I'm on US998 running 20d with Magisk on Verizon, and despite trying Android Messages, Signal, and QKSMS, I cannot reply to group MMS chats. I can receive and send single-person SMS and receive MMS group chats, just can't reply. When I check the default APN settings from Verizon, MMSC is not set (should be http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms), MMS port is not set (should be 80), the MCC is set to 311 and should be 310, MNC is set to 480 and should be 012, and APN type is "default" and should be "internet+mms".
I thought VZW may have made some recent changes and that most people would have gotten it pushed to their Verizon official phones automatically, but I see youtube videos from 2013 showing the above "should be" settings. I'm wanting to start a bounty for someone to make a Magisk module to overwrite this carrier APN settings lockout BS that started with Android 8, which is when I think I started getting this MMS reply problem.
I tried this (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75157321&postcount=14) and it let me add the APN, but as soon as I put the SIM card back in and booted back up, it was gone.
Side note: I hate that I have to keep my old Verizon LG G3 around if I want a VZW store to cut me a new SIM card. My current SIM is a year old, so I doubt getting a new one will get me the correct APN settings.

Sounds to me like you need to contact Verizon and ask them to give you the most up-to-date APN settings to put in your phone. I suggest calling from a different phone to make it easier to follow their instructions, and when you finish, do a reboot of your V30 before testing it out.
Or you could just check this webpage out. lol It's from June 2018, so I'd say it's very recent. Remember to reboot after SAVING the settings you input. Then test it out with a friend or relative.
I have T-Mobile, and I found my APN settings online. But customer service has them too.
Good luck!

Try flashing the latest stock Verizon ROM from @westwood24 in TWRP. You'll have to reflash Magisk before rebooting.

This should give you Verizon messaging.

I had problems with MMS as well that started after the 17.0 magisk bomb. It worked fine for the entire month of August after installing the VS996 20d, then after trying and failing to upgrade Magisk (no bootloop, just fail), I was no longer able to send or receive MMS messages.

Yeah. Unfortunately, the stock Verizon ROM doesn't seem to allow changing the default APN settings. There's no plus sign...only the option to RESTORE DEFAULT SETTINGS. Choosing that worked for me, but only temporarily.

Even after flashing Westwood's 20d verizon, the default APN seems to have incorrect settings sticking somewhere. I KDZ'd multiple times and it continually wouldn't keep the correct APNs. I half wonder if updating the modem might do it, but I haven't tried yet.
Regardless, there's an option in Textra that allows you to set the APN for it.
In Textra:
Choose SETTINGS from the 3-dot menu.
Click on MMS.
Change MMS Behavior to LEGACY
Slide the option ON to MANUALLY CONFIGURE APN
Click on MMSC
Enter:
http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms
Try it and hopefully you're good to go after that! (I hope)

Hmm ok. I don't really know much about Verizon. I had them for 7 years then I switched to T-Mobile 4 years ago. Back during the Verizon days I didn't even know what an APN setting was. lol
Yeah try the Textra thing. That might actually work!
Good luck.
