You need to install the zip in safestrap

Safestrap? I'm on mdk. I installed jrummy's app and when I'm trying to backup my current rom, don't backup the rom. I renamed and hit OK and that's all.i always use goomanager with no issues.

Oh sorry I always assume safestrap. Well you can use flashify if goo isn't working, and of course you can always just flash in recovery like normal. That's what I would recommend when using a zip that replaces a system app

I only use apps like Flashify for recoveries. When it comes to flashing mods ROMs etc I think it's just better to hop into recovery and do it the old fashion way... But whatever works I guess

[UPDATE] [PACK] System Apps Update Pack for CyanogenMod 6 [SIGNED]

I've put together an update.zip with the latest versions of all the System Apps that come with CyanogenMod 6.
This solves multiple problems:
Allows you to update those apps that just don't want to (Street View, Superuser, etc)
Updates to system apps are stored on the "data" partition. This uses up your available space. By flashing this update, the updated files will be stored on your "system" partition -- where they belong, instead of your "data" partitions, where the files get placed when you update from the Market.
I'm not 100% sure, but I have a good feeling this is the final fix to problem #1. I believe this causes Android to update the signature associated with the app, "correcting" itself.
The updated apps
Amazon MP3
Chrome-to-Phone
Gmail
Google Maps
Google Search
Google Voice
ROM Manager
Street View
Superuser
TalkBack
Twitter
Voice Search
You can go ahead and download the file here: http://www.unforgivendevelopment.com/2010/09/25/cyanogenmod-6-system-apps-update-pack-09252010/
If you encounter any issues, or have any comments or anything, let me know.
Enjoy!
flashed this update on kang o rama/cm6 it says no signature, installation aborted..

Just looked, and there are two update options, one of which is signed. Is that the one you tried applying?

Well done mate.

I flasheed with clockwork and had no problems.
so if I have understand this correct, every time a update is available we should not update through market instead wait for you to update the pack and then flash through recovery? because when I checked market now, I don't see Maps or Voice Search installed even if they are installed and latest versions, if I update they will get into the data directory right?
Thanks. Flashed clockwork now works. Newer updates from market still fail.

I have a 2-fold question for you guys:
I have apps on the /data/app partition such as Vlingo, SetCPU, Calibration Settings, MusicMod, Twitter, etc. Many of these are root apps and some are widgets that I use. The phone shows 152.61mb used and 43.64mb free in this partition, fyi.
I also have a most of my apps on the /system/app such as Camera, Browser, Email, Gallery etc. All of these are the core system apps. The phone shows 110.55mb used and 34.45mb free.
(1) If I move all of the apps from /data/app to /system/app can I?
Looks obvious that I wouldn't have enough space on the /system/app partition!
(2) If I move just a couple of widgets from /data/app to /system/app to free up space, would the widgets still boot up normally when the phone reboots or would they have to be re-installed?
Works as advertised. thanks

Thanks for the quick response Rori!
So I can move what I want to move to the /system/app and they will boot right along with the phone, however, the Market will no longer "see" them as installed on my phone, correct?
I understand that Clockwork is set to ignore signature checks. So, this zip should flash through Clockwork no matter what, but will only flash through Amon_RA's recovery with a proper signature.
edit: I get it.
Would also appreciate a fix for AR. Thanks.

There is an updated gapps over at cyanogenmod (Nexus One, Stable forum, downloads section) that is the full gapps bundle. Not sure about the signature situation, but if it's like the previous files, then it should be fine.

[Q] Clockworkmod Superuser vs Chainfire SuperSU

Does anybody know any benefits/advantages of CM Superuser over SuperSU?
I simply use SuperSU to control root access (I know that's obvious), but now there is another Superuser app, I'm wondering, Why??
It is open source, which means it is more transparent than the others, is this the only real benefit?
I currently have a nexus 4, should I switch from SuperSU?
P.s. I've added a poll just for fun

Matter of preference. I like the extensive customization SuperSU gives me.
Edit: Misread everything. Not wanting to bash but Nexus S CWM recovery has parts broken since a good while. Hard to trust CWM su will be any better...
I personally Recomend the...
I Think that the clockwork mod Super user is better... i cant explain the full pros/cons but from experience, CWM lets you take more control
Cannot fully uninstall CWM Superuser
I cannot fully uninstall CMW Superuser. It says it is uninstalled, but Super US will not install after the CMW uninstall. It tries to re-install CMW. How do I fully remove and replace CMW with Super US? Any ideas?
I'm having big problems removing this from my phone. I want to get rig of superuser (CWM) and replace it with SuperSu
super user :good:

[Q] How to downgrade SafeStrap from 3.63 to 3.11?

Hi,
I have an XT-912 with SafeStrap 3.63 installed. I'd like to install Eclipse 2.2 but my understanding is that I would have to have SS 3.11 instead. I have the 3.11 apk and was planning just to run the upgrade process described on the hash-of-codes website in reverse (removing 3.63 and installing 3.11), but was wondering if there were any tricks that needed to be employed or possible problems to be aware of.
Thanks.
PS - not sure this matters but just in case: this is an old phone with no carrier service, just using it with wifi.

Really appreciate the tip but I can't get it to work: now hangs on the open screen and then FC with "Unfortunately, Safestrap has stopped."
I think I did everything right - uninstalled as instructed, used the 3.11 apk from Hashcode's goo-dot-im site (sorry, too few posts to post links), installed as instructed. After it didn't work, I uninstalled 3.11, booted into stock recovery and cleared cache, downloaded the apk again and reinstalled. Still didn't work.
Any thoughts?

I tried it too and I have the same results... I don't know why, maybe it needs a factory reset in order to return to a previous Safestrap version... One more thought, after uninstalling 3.65 try to delete everything related to Safestrap and TWRP from the internal storage, then reboot to Motorola's recovery and wipe cache & dalvik, then try 3.11. It's just a thought, I haven't tried it myself, if it doesn't work then I don't know why...
You might need to delete the safestrap folder from sdcard also.
Haven't tried it but thats what I would do.
Thanks guys but no luck.
And now when I re-install 3.63 it thinks I don't have root. (Verified in Terminal Emulator.)
Oh well, I guess I'll either live with stock or have to start from scratch (e.g. with Matt's utility).
I'm running SS 3.53, trying the same issue. the problem I'm having is that I don't have a working ROM besides Stock, when i go to Stock ROM slot, Safestrap is disabled, and isn't located in the app drawer, I've tried other ROMS for 4.1.2 and they fail during flash, almost immediately. Any suggestions?

Blind, unless your ROM is hiding it. :fingers-crossed:
Did you install the app Xposed Installer? Should be an icon that looks like the Android.

Mine kept doing this as well its a known thing. What I did was unintalled xposed using titanium then booted into recovery and wiped cache/dalvic then booted back up and re installed it. That should do it.

If you are trying to install Xposed on a newer Samsung device, Knox and SELInux will fight you. I'm guessing you are running what is in your in your sig, so probably not Knox. Install this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mrbimc.selinux Grant SU, change to Permissive, reboot (may not be necessary, but doesn't hurt), and try again.

What version of Xposed are you trying to install? Do you have a custom recovery? If so, Xposed 2.5+ will give you an option to install normal via system or you can pick the option to install via recovery. I'd go that route. It's at the top of the framework install part of Xposed - there is a drop down box to choose install methods.
Edit: Looked at the picture you posted and you definitely have the newer version.

It very well could be something in it that isn't being friendly to the normal framework install method, but lemme know if it works the other installation way. If it does, then not a big deal either way.

I guess something went wring when installing the rom which may have caused the issue.

You're using 2.5 (not 2.5.1) and still having issues? What phone, rom, etc? Might try rolling back to 2.4.1.
I have a Galaxy Note 3 and running wicked rom. I was having the problem just on 2.5.1 but on 2.5 everything would load but none of the modules were working after rebooting. Everything checked out (installed and unzipped) with no errors on 2.5.

Weird...What modules were you trying to use? When you go into the Framework part, does it show the app_process and XposedBridge.jar as green / active?
It did for the 2.5 version even tho nothing was working. I reverted back to 2.4.1 and things seem to be working at the moment. I was running Wanam and the kbs network module. I'm going to try and play around tonight with some other modules and see if the problem persists.
