Hi guys,

Thanks!

That's odd, I setup my D6503 and it immediately showed LTE when I turned on LTE in the network settings: Wireless & Networks>More...>Mobile network settings>Network Mode

There isn't LTE in network settings. Only 4G. I was searching online and some people mention, LTE icon has gone after latest software update. Now it only shows 4G. I just wanted to make sure that information is right.
It depends on what region your firmware is from. You will still get the correct speeds.
UK phone from Clove, latest stock, on TMo. Shows 4G. Getting 4G/LTE speeds. Icon is irrelevant...

This may be a lame question, but if 4G becomes active in my area, is there anything i need to do? or will the 4G notification just turn on when a signal is detected?

Its not lame, its how you learn. In theory, no.
There are settings for CDMA and LTE under the mobile networks area so assuming you are set to CDMA / LTE, running stock and you are close enough to a LTE tower you should switch to LTE automatically. If you search there are a number of tweaks and additional settings also available in case you aren't successful.
If you never change your mobile network mode from cdma/lte in your settings then it should automatically connect if you ever get lte in your city.
The above posters answered the question, but if you would like to know more about when LTE might be available in your area head on over to www.s4gru.com

so i don't really know alot about the CDMA/LTE stuff... but on the original Evo the 4G was on the CDMA network correct? The New EVO just has 4G on the LTE network? Meaning if i was able to pick up 4G in my area with the original EVO i won't be able to get 4G with my new EVO LTE until they add LTE in the area?
am I understanding this correct?
Correct, 4g was on the wimax network, now 4g is lte. Wimax is still available, it will eventually be phased out.
That sucks... I live in bumf so doubt I'll have LTE anytime soon... But at least this phone is still awesome

I am running Stock With Goodies latest version and flashed the Roam Only feature and am currently roaming at my home on Verizon's 4G
Speeds are 5 by 1.5 I have read that this is not possible on our phones because they were different frequencies or radios or something, but I can tell you that it is working. Anyone ever see this?

So, I just turned off "Roam Only" and just found out that LTE is active at my house now!

So there is no roaming on 4g.

Awesome thread.

I was roaming (only had 2 bars and the triangle, on 4G) When I turned off roaming, Sprint 4G was on for the first time.

Why you say Verizon lol

I too have seen both the roaming cell icon with the triangle and the 4G icon at the same time while in Roam Only mode. I've never bothered pulling a speed test as I always assumed it was a fluke.
You weren't roaming on Verizon 4g! Impossible, you do realize that LTE and voice are different connections on your phone right. Your data was connected to Sprint 4g and your voice was roaming on Verizon.

That was my impression too. Maybe there is a glitch in some instances where "Roam Only" is choosen and it is only changing the voice connection to Verizon but isn't changing the data connection. Either that or an icon bug when roam only is on.
I have tried the PureG.v2 and the v4.6 version on my Verizon SCH-I545 and each time I tried, the LTE would not connect. it would only connect at CMDA 3G. I tried using the LTE app included in the ROM to connect, but none of the settings would allow it to connect to LTE.
Has this ROM been test on the SCH-I545?
Sounds like you're not in a 4G/LTE area. I'm running the GE rom now and have had perfect LTE since day one. Do a fresh install and don't mess with the network settings. It works fine out of the box.

I have 4G/LTE with [Rom][I545VRUAMDK][4.2.2] Stock Root Odex/Deodex [05/23/13]. In my area they use LTE for Data and CMDA for phone. I don't know if that is normal in other areas.

The same issue with mine - no 4g/LTE just 3G with spotty coverage
I had this problem also. To Fix it I went into mobile networks and under network mode select: LTE / CDMA. Then in the app LTEonOFF from the dropdown box select: LTE/GSM/CDMA auto (PRL). Few minutes later your LTE should come on.

I'll give it another try. I really like the ROM speed and how clean it is. Just can't deal with the 3G speed.

Nope, It said LTE:13 for a second, but no data was moving. I reboot the phone and it went back to CMDA 3G only.
Back to my stock rooted Samsung image. :crying:

Hmm. It should show LTE, the network strength bars will be greyed out and show no signal but it'll work. Signal bars not working are a known issue in this ROM atm.
Not too sure on this ROM yet. Have you tried flashing Nitro's Eclipse ROM? Should have the GUI you want with great functionality.

im not on your rom but after my first flash i have been having terrible signal issues
I installed v3 Pure and my phone never showed LTE....always said 3G up top. I never ran a speedtest to actually see if I was getting LTE speeds. The odd thing is my signal bars were spot on accurate. Stayed on 3 to 4 bars all the time.

Yea, its weird because the signal bars work when in 3G, but as soon as you get LTE they gray out. You'll still see the black arrows to know its downloading and stuff but no bars will show. If you only had 3G you have to go into the LTE app that comes with the ROM and select the one I mentioned in my earlier post, I didn't have LTE until I did that.
Hey guys, I am using an ATT Note 1 unlocked on T-Mobile. I get 4g but no LTE is there a way to get LTE on this phone??

Pretty sure 4g is LTE from what I've read. You can also try dialing *#*#4636#*#* go into phone information, (make sure you turn WiFi off) change the settings to one with LTE. Sometimes you need to turn the radio off then on again and see if that helps. Sometimes you have to toggle between them a few times. When LTE catches you should reboot. Also unless you're in an LTE area it won't show

I went into that menu but i don't have a button or setting for LTE. I did however do the *#2263# and selected LTE and thatvseems ti work but its goes back to Edge even if there's LTE. Im on a stock Rom. I attached the screen shot of the menu you gave me..
Did you change/add an APN setting?

I just switched back over to TMO today. I flashed the UVLG3 modem as that seems to provide the best signal in my area. I usually don't get LTE at home, but when I return to work next week, I'll report back with my results.

Hi,
I want to turn off LTE when I'm home since the 4G LTE speeds are really bad here. I've been searching online but all the solutions point to Mobile Network--> Network Mode settings but I only have 3 settings available in there and none is for 4G without LTE:
LTE/3G/2G
LTE/3G
2G Only
Is there another way to turn off LTE and connect to 4G? I used to have an old Galaxy S7 and it was possible to use just 4G.
Model Number: SM-G960U
Android Version:10
Thanks in advance
