I can't boot into recovery or download mode, I have no charging screen, just a red LED. I bought a USB jig cause I saw someone revive a hardbricked S3 with it, but I can't manage to get it to work..I might just not be using it right though. Is there no chance of revival? I was trying to update from 4.1 to 4.2 when the phone just shut off, then it wouldn't turn back on.
this might a problem because of battery (did you tried to flash with lower than 40% battery? )
And i hope you flashed the correct version of i9300 .
Remove your phone battery ,put battery on ,insert the usb jig and should prompt you directly to download mode , if not ,then you need a new motherboard

Hi, I´m having a problem with my phone. Possible Hardware, but I still have some hope. Yesterday, I was puting the phone to charge, but it didn't start charging. Only after the third try. This morning, when the alarm set of and I was going to stop it, the phone fell (half a meter) and now I cant turn it on. Power button doesn't do nothing. If I plug it to the charger or to the computer, it starts looping with the battery icon with a circle inside, then with the green battery almost full, and then all over again and again. If I press down while this happens I cand get into download mode. I Tried to flash a rom from odin (no repartition, only PDA, PHONE and CSC) and, and it went ok, but it didn't solve my problem. The loop still continues, but now the green battery doesn't apear. Instead for only half a second the "android icon" that apears while installing a rom apears. And it continues looping.
I already tried another battery. Flashing the rom from odin, the Jig doesn't power the phone, so I can't reset the counter ( I don't know if it was possible with my bootloader. I was on the leaked JB with Philz kernel). Is there anything else I can do with odin and the download mode? I don't know anything about pit files or anything else.
Instaled OLD bootloader with odin, but the jig still doesn't power on the phone
Thanks in advance.
Well, I think I'm going to give up. I'm sending it to samsung. I can't reset the counter, so I think warranty won't cover. If they say it's expensive the repair I was thinking I could open the phone myself and maby change the usb pcb. I found a video on youtube with the same thing that happens to my phone.

Hello folks,
I've a friend who's not a Technical person, however, he tried what he shouldn't have and now he has a totally dead S2.
The problems:
1. Phone doesn't switch on, nor does it goes to download or recovery mode - I tried it all.
2. When I connect a charger or usb - It does start showing the battery icon and while connected to the cable, if I turn it on it stays at the Samsung logo forever.
3. Since I don't know how to even get it to download mode, I'm unable to go any further.
What he did:
1. Trying to upgrade to JB, I think he messed up with the kernel by uploading one which may not be compatible as I've heard S2 has different variants. (He loaded Siyah 4.2)
2. Before doing this, he had connected to ODIN and was trying to load the official JB file but it always got stuck on one of the steps and that's when his phone got a bit sick - it would show "Please connect to KIES and try a recovery" kind of message. And this led him to do Step 1, which he shouldn't have.
I read a lot of posts, tried a lot of things but the phone never goes to download mode. And I've no clue how to try anything else?
So experts, I need your help here and I want to know if this phone will start at all? Can we somehow get it to work? If not at home, can the people at Samsung flash it or something?
Please help. Lots of thanks already!

if u have any mini usb cable cut it and peel of the skin and short the the 4th and 5th pin with 300k resistor or 100k*3 resistor and connect to mobile u will directly goto the download mode remove this pin and connect pc in odin mode and flash first with ics rom and if it is success and then try jelly bean try good luck
I have the same problem.
Today i tried fixing a bricked galaxy s2(yellow triangle with exclamation mark on boot) by reinstalling the stock firmware with odin and a pit file.
During the install i got stuck at NAND write start. So i took the battery out to get out of download mode and put it back in.When i tried going to download mode,it wouldn't start, charge, boot, anything!it's like it's completly dead.
Is there any other way to go to download mode without using a JIG?

Sorry to say this mate......you shoulda read some threads.....
If you had, you'd have realised.....
1) you start messing with pit files as a LAST resort
2) you NEVER pull a battery during an odin flash
3) when you saw the failure of 'nand write start' there was still the possibility to recover your phone....right up to the point when you pulled the battery.......
So now you have no recovery mode, no download mode and no on screen indication when you plug the charger in.....
Don't bother with the jig.....it's a long shot under the best of circumstances.....
There Is one thing you could try.....
Take the battery out. Press the vol down, power and home keys simultaneously......and WHILE holding the keys.....reinsert the battery....you will probably need help to do it.
It *might* kickstart the phone into download mode.....or.......it might not.
If it fails.....then Samsung warranty repair is realistically your only option.....Don't mention XDA or rooting or custom roms or odin or anything like that. Play dumb....say you were updating with kies, the phone switched off and wouldn't turn on again.......

Thank you so much!! I wasn't able to get a usb jig but managed to get it online with a quick delivery. It was my first time using a usb jig but it's too simple. I've a working phone with JB in it.
Thanks again!

Thanks for you answer! Will a JTAG work?If i can find one?The phone is off the warranty.
The way I see it is that at the moment, you own a paperweight.....so best to *try* the cheaper options first....jtagging being the cheapest......
If that doesn't sort it....you have 2 options.....
1) replace the mainboard
2) buy an entirely new phone.....
Basically whichever option you choose from now on will have *some* financial cost........

A 3rd option is to buy a 2nd hand phone with maybe a cracked screen, and use the board from that.

Well, after saving a long time, I finally got my s3 on amazon.com, when I opened it, it was new and beautiful, I powered it up, inserted my sim, and the phone freezed, after that I waited 2 minutes, and pulled out the battery, and tried to power it up again, but it got stuck at the yellow triangle saying to put it in download mode and use kies, I looked in the forum and found an Odin tutorial , downloaded all the neccessary tools, left the phone plugged to my USB port in download mode doing nothing, and went out fifteen minutes, when i came back decided to flash a new working rom onto my phone i founded the telephone completely dead, not responding to any key combination or cable connection to my pc, i thought it was the battery , charged it on my brothers phone and the phone was still dead,(i tested the battery for voltage and it delivered 3.7 v and 1500 maH, all correct and optimal values, I searched again and tried with a USB jig, trying to get into recovery mode, and it did not work either (the usb jig was allright, because it worked on my brothers phone, and on a friends Galaxy SII , so i do not know what else to do, and i ended posting here. What can i do? i will send it back to warranty , but maybe i can solve it first , Thanks!
Hardware bricked you can do nothing .
USB Jig is not for recovery mode .
If you have flashed your warranty may be void .
But also possible its SDS .
Sudden Death .

Do you have latest Samsung drivers installed? And also try to run Odin as administrator if you're using Windows.
Hi, I have problem (I think HW) with my s3. One day I have powered on and now always restart my phone. I tryed go to recovery and there I can be 2 seconds and phone always restart. Cant put nothing in recovery. If I go to download mode, same problem. I can flash anythink just if I go to download mode with usb cable in my pc and whan I have download mode, I must remove battery and phone stay in.
I think my mainboard is broken but I want just ask if is here anyone as haved same problem and maybe have solved.
Battery is good (have tryed diferend 3 batteries)
Is NOT problem with bad flash and restart always after flash. I know it. This is not my problem.
Thanks

If you mean when you try to start the device normally, in recovery or in download mode, nothing happens(black screen), then yes the next thing I would try is a usb jig. Without knowing the details of what exactly you did when you tried flashing the MM rom, it is impossible to know why you are in your situation.
For the usb jig, just try to have a fully charged battery before you start, pull the battery for 30 seconds or so, insert the battery, then insert the jig. Within a few seconds you should get download mode.

Thanks for the help...... i really appreciate it.
Could it be that the battery has been drained? Leave it connected to a charger for a few hours to see if it charges up. Does it show the charging animation?
Nop...its not the battery.....

If i remember correctly you can boot up without the battery, just on the charger alone.

Hi, my tablet SAMSUNG Galaxy tab 2 10.1 , had an error while installing the stock firmware with Odin. Now it shows:
"Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again"
I tried with kies: nothing, it won't recognise the tablet.
The problem is this: the tablet can't go on Download Mode! And can't power off until the battery is "out"
Is USB Jig good for this problem?
Open Odin, load the stock rom for your tablet, connect it to the computer, even if it is stuck on the "Firmware upgrade encountered....." screen, and flash it.
