[Q] PLEASE help about safestrap HDX 7' - Kindle Fire HDX 7" & 8.9" Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Last time I saw there was new version of safestrap which expanded the rom slot space. then I tried to update it but amazon automatically updated my kdf to 13.3.2.3.2. now I am not able to get into safestrap even I rooted.(towelroot)
the only way I can do is downgrade the system or waiting for safestrap update? please help, thanks!

Correct. I recommend not attempting a downgrade. You run the risk of bricking. Thank you for posting in Q&A.

I installed the lastest safestrap then tried to flash the thor gapp, when I started reboot it turned into black screen and no response. could you tell me what happen? my device version is 13.3.2.3.2 thankyou

What is ur original base? That you got updated to..? Do you try safestrap 3.75 b02? And are you trying to flash onto your stock slot or have you created a slot? Ok and if you had read the threads you would discover they will not boot or will not work and less you flash over the top of a back up of stock or restore your data from a stock Backup.. if yo are still 13.3.2.3.2 the only Rom that will work for you is the new thor for 13.3.2.4

thank you for your reply. I did all steps you mentioned about but are u sure I should use the 13.3.2.4 rom? because that post warning that the new thor rom only can use on 13.3.2.4. but I think I can restore it even something bad happen right?

But you did not read the thread did you? If you had you would have discovered that many people are using it on the same system you are on . You should be reading nearly entire threads on anything that you are interested in doing to this device .And of course only do anything with a slot never your stock http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2786190. And of course you can always restore a backup.

Just bought gs4

hey after my gs3 got destroyed i just bought a gs4. ive been trying to look up a way to root for this and found out that i can only root on the VRUAME7 firmware which was pre-installed. is there a way to go back to an older firmware and root and install custom roms. really disappointed that i cant right now since the newest firmware is installed. thanks for the responses a head of time.
No all older firmwares are black listed. You will just have to wait for ss to be fully ready, it shouldn't be long now.

Safestrap is pretty much good to go. I have ME7 running Safestrap with Hyperdrive with Cobalt theme and custom dialer and keyboard. Great setup. Just read the forums and make sure you have the procedure down. It's pretty simple.

Yes you can install custom roms, That's what Hyperdrive is. With Safestrap it just creates another slot to install the new rom on. I don't see Carbon on the list of roms that work with Safestrap. You might want to try Hyperdrive. It's real nice.

I would root and go with safe strap because I think this bootloader is locked the same way as the moto phones which means it can not be unlocked.

I agree. Why not root now and enjoy your phone and if someone does unlock the bootloader you can try that too. Safestrap is pretty slick.

Yes you have to be rooted. Rooting this phone is really simple.
Root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380325
Guide to install Safestrap: Copy the ROM, SS app and Hashcode's fix ZIPs into your external SD (for convenience).
In rooted stock, install SS.
Run SS, grant root, hit "Install Recovery".
After recovery is installed, Reboot into Recovery from the SS app
If you hit reboot normally, hit the MENU button for Recovery when you see the safestrap screen at boot
Do NOT wipe anything.
Select Boot Options, select the first ROM slot.
Select 1GB / 2GB / 3GB depending on how much you have left on your internal SD. You can rename too
NOTE: If you do not have have enough space it may not let you select certain options. It will tell you the space on the screen
Create slot (may take 5 mins)
Since the slot is brand new, no wiping required.
Go to Install, pick the ROM ZIP file from you ext SD card
Add more ZIP, pick Hascode's ME7 kernel ZIP file (IMPORTANT)
Process with installation.
At the end of AROMA installation, make sure to DESELECT the "Reboot" option [This is key!!]
With the Reboot option NOT SELECTED press the Reboot button
As AROMA exits, Hashcode's fix ZIP will be flashed.
When that's done, hit Reboot System

I hope you didn't wipe your stock rom... because that bricks the hdx.
Try to unbrick it. More then likely you will need to return it to Amazon or wait and pray we find a way to fix it. Other members please help.

I agree if u wiped your stock slot without a backup or a good rom to flash on it and you attempted to reboot after you wiped the system in stock...sorry but as far as I know there is no fix for you at least not as of yet. That's why safestrap was developed so you could apply an extra partition to boot system and data from to eliminate screwing up the stock os because currently we do not have a working fastboot or unlocked bl... again thanks to amazon locked ecosystem and lack of thorough research...another warranty claim.. another brick on the wall
Yeah, I haven't seen a response, so need more info. What exactly did you wipe & how? Did you, or do you, have safestrap installed? Sometimes the issue is that it mounts system to perform functions & never unmounts, so you can;t install anything until you use adb to remount or reboot. I need to know exactly what you did & exactly what you had installed & what version of FW you were using to tell you anything.
Thanks all for reply. I hope some one can help me

If you had to read the fire hydrant thread at last at least the last page or two you would know that it is a nonfunctioning Rom.. But if you still have safestrap cycling when you reboot there may be a way to push Hashcodes stock base to SDcard ... Why would you attempt to install anything to your stock slot? That is why we have safestrap because we have no fast boot ability . Or if you did not wipe your stock slot you should be able to activate it and boot up stock.

So, is that what you are saying? You disabled Safestrap & then went to wipe? I didn't think you could wipe stock, at least not from the later versions of Safestrap.

Installed safestrap on 3.2.8

hey guys it's been a few years since Iv been rooting devices so im still a little tender on this subject
Found my kindle fire HDX 7 in my draw and decided to see what i could do with it (from when i brought it, it was totally locked)
Spending all afternoon researching and trying different things iv managed to downgrate to 3.2.8 and Root device. There for i obviously installed safestrap after that i followed the instructions to install recovery and so on.... cutting to the chase:
I click install recovery and it installs fine, i reboot to recovery and device reboots from now on after where i guess im suppose to get the recovery i just get a black screen and it sits at that? Any ideas? I can press and hold the off button and it will reboot, go black then disconnect from pc and reboot back into normal kindle o.s.
Any ideas? I hope i made myself clear enough and im not being a fool and not reading something right.
Kind regards
Ashley

There's your problem. You should first fully remove your current version of Safestrap (i.e. don't just remove the app) and download the latest one, which should be 3.75 B02.

[ROM][ROOT][SHV-E160S] Is it possible to update from JB 4.1.2 MJ1 to JB 4.1.2 MH2??

Hello guys!
I just wanted to ask if it is possible to update Galaxy Note SHV-E160S 32GB Internal from JB 4.1.2 MJ1 to JB 4.1.2 MH2? The phone's build # is E160SKSJMJ1. I want to root the phone using Tegrak's but I cannot seem to find any build that is compatible with MJ1. I hope someone can help me here.
Thanks!
That would actually be downgrading. Shouldn't be a problem through in that case. Since it's the same Android version and the bootloader isn't locked, there shouldn't be a problem. Not sure why you wouldn't try the method I suggested on your other post, but whatever works for you.

Hi es0tericcha0s, since I'm a noob to this rooting process I'm still confused if TWRP can be used to root the phone. If it can, I shouldn't be needing to downgrade the FW and just use TWRP to root it?
http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu Download that on your phone, boot to TWRP, install zip, reboot, win.

You're welcome. Glad you finally got it. One more piece of advice : boot back to TWRP and make a nandroid backup. This will get you out of most trouble in case you do something you shouldn't with root.

[DOWNLOAD] 6.0.1 update.zip

So my watch recently downloaded the latest 6.0.1 update.zip and I'm more than happy to report: WE CAN FLASH IT VIA TWRP!
This update.zip was grabbed from /cache, however seems to be completely identical with the one you can download from here: https://android.googleapis.com/pack...3ec3e78cb2a7d3.signed-platina-ota-2576000.zip
Exciting news, means we don't have to reset our watch back to stock for it to flash
Here are the download links:

That indeed Once the watch was updated it lagged for about 10 minutes still, probably due to it doing stuff in the background after the upgrade. But once that was done it's now working great, smooth and awesomely well!
thanks.
i still wiped out everything to have a more clean experience. and faster.
Yeah I would say the only reason we don't have to go back to stock is that the ota contains completely brand new system image and boot and recovery of course so it thosen't even verify system files as they all get replaced anyway
Can we flash this new stock and then flash a custom kernel? Idk anything sorry, this will be my one annoying question for the day
For 6.0.1 there is no kernel at the moment.
