Custom ringtone not working - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

I have a P769 running AntonX's CM11 build. Since the last time I flashed ~4-5 weeks ago I haven't been able to set a custom ringtone. I tried setting it with ES File Explorer and it shows up as 'None' in the sounds sub-menu. I tried renaming one of my custom ringtones to match a stock one and it just plays the hangouts video call sound.
Something that might be related to this is that my music does not show up since I flashed on Google Play Music.
I found this: http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/1...ing-on-device-file-explorer-in-android-4-4-2/
It describes what I'm experiencing. I tried flashing AntonX's latest build (4.4.4) and the problem still persists.I really want my custom ringtone and notifications to work. I tried searching this sub-forum for something related and I couldn't find anything. I'd appreciate any help.
Also, I can't post the problem in AntonX's CM11 thread because I have less than 10 posts. And I might try Nameless ROM because I've heard good things about it.
Thanks.

[Q] Sound drags with Flash 10.2

I've been having an issue with the sound on many (not all) Flash videos dragging or running very slow. I've tried deleting & reinstalling Flash 10.2 to no avail. I've had this issue through several roms and kernels so I've no reason to think that is the cause, but FWIW I'm currently using SC 2.9.2 with jt's latest kernel dated 4/7. In searching I discovered a reference to a fix in Rom Manager called "audio revert" here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-774378.html
I don't see this in Rom Manager for the Fascinate, so does anyone know of a fix?
Hmm, strange, I haven't had any issues with Flash, everything runs smooth with perfectly synced sound.
An example of a video source I am having the problem with is http://cnettv.cnet.com, with Dolphin HD.

[Q] Phone rings once then stops ringing

I've already missed a few calls because of this... I'm running resurrection remix with fluxxi. I recieve calls fine and the call itself is fin, but it only rings once and wont loop the sound file. I tried to look for a setting in the system and and R-RoM settings and found nothing. Any suggestions?
Have you tried a different ringtone? Could be a bad file

it doesn't work with any of my ring tones.
I can't seem to find a solution anywhere else other than, make a new audio file and loop it yourself then set that as a ring tone...... Not really much of a solution
Did you do a whip after you loaded the room? Tried a different one?

I'm guessing you got auto-corrected and meant wipe and rom.
I wiped before I installed the ROM including dalvik cache and data.
I have same issue on SlimICS rom, anybody know solution?

I had this problem when I switched from GB to ICS. This is how ICS works with ringtones from what I found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26632972&highlight=ringtone#post26632972.
To make my ringtone loop, I did this on my Linux system:
mpg321 custom_ringtone.mp3 -w raw && oggenc raw -c "ANDROID_LOOP=TRUE" -o custom_ringtone.ogg ; rm -f raw
The custom_ringtone.ogg file is what you move to your phone and set up as your ringtone.

I have been on ICS for a long while now, going back and forth from rom to rom without any issue with ringtone. It was only when I flashed SlimICS that the issue arrose, other people have mentioned it in thread but no solution as far as I could see last time I checked.
Just got back from a week away so need my weekly fix of trying some new roms anyway

Maybe it depends on the ICS you're using - I went from AT&T GB to AOKP ICS, the ringtone repeated fine on AT&T GB but not on AOKP ICS.

is there a solution for this?
i have had this issue for about 3 months, and i haven't dealt with it until now. it's a consistent issue on all my recent ROMs including BAM, Slim, CM10, CM10.1, SuperNexus, etc etc, multiple versions of all. the "rings once" issue has been perfectly consistent on all these.
someone suggested that JKays Kernel cleaning script may have had a hand in this, but i am not sure about that... i used that script before w/o issues.
why would this issue come up and never get fixed upon flashing new ROMs (after all the wiping/resets, cache & dalvik cleaning, etc.)?
any ideas? this is for ROM-included stock tones or custom ones in any format.

The first page shows a solution
This is just a guess but I'm going to run under the assumption that the people having this issue are using a mp3 as a custom ringtone. mvi57 posted a solution to this in post #8, which is to convert it to an Ogg Vorbis file and add the tag ANDROID_LOOP with the value set to true.
For those who don't have Linux, you can achieve this by using any of the various audio file converters out there that support ogg. I personally use Audacity, but use whatever you're comfortable with.

it does it on my mp3 ringtone, and it also does it on all the others included with the ROM.

CM9 Ringtone Problem

I have a strange problem regarding CM9. Currently am on hephappy's TinyStream flashed over TinyLight. Everything seems to be working well.
However, when I attempt a clean flash (wiped EVERYTHING) to TinyStream my problems begin. I can restore all my contacts with TB and set a default ringtone thru settings but can NEVER set ANY custom ringtone for my wife, son, and various friends that had custom ringtones set in previous ROMs (CM7 and some ICS as well). In fact, when trying to set the custom ringtone none of the options (including default) are highlighted/selected. When I do select a ringtone it never saves it. When said person calls I then get no ring-tone at all, and only know there is a call because the phone is vibrating. Attempting to reset the ringtone results in the same uselessness. I also experienced this with Arjen's Alpha 3last night. What could I be dong wrong?
I had no problem setting custom ringtones in any CN7 ROMs, Lupo's ICS build or TinyLight. My workaround has been to flash TinyStream over TinyLight. The custom ringtones I want are set fot various contacts BUT NOW THOSE CAN"T BE CHANGED EITHER. That;s OK for now but at some point I'll want to change them and, presently, I can't.
Any insight is appreciated,
M.
Have you tried using Ringo? Or any other ringtone selection application...I would attempt a clean wipe on everything

[Q] JB XXLSJ canĀ“t change alert sound ?!?

Hi All,
I just updated to XXLSJ via ODIN (sources form this forum). I also rooted using PhilZ CWM v3.1 kernel.
Everything works fine except the notification sound in stock email apk. Whatever I change it to it always uses the "Postman" sound which was default after flasing. I have also changed the default system sound to something else but the email apk seems to ingore this setting as well.
Any help or thoughts will be appreciated!
Thanks!
I have similar problem with XXLSJ Firmware (NeatRom). I tried to change the alert sound but the postman is still ringing. My solution of this problem is quite simple. Just pick a melody you would like to sound when emails come in and rename it to S_Postman.ogg. All the notifications are placed in /system/media/audio/notifications. You need root privilleges to do this. I used Root Explorer but you can use any other software to do it. Good luck!

[Q] "Problem" coyping mp3s on a custom rom AOKP

In the last years I've tried out a lot of different Custom Roms, e.g. Resurrection Remix, Cyanogenmod, SuperNexus, and so on.
At the moment my daily driver is the Omega AOKP ROM for my S3.
I experienced with most of these AOKP ROMs a very annoying windows alert by copying mp3s onto the device.
it said, the the device can possibly not play the mp3s I wanted to copy, do you want to copy it anyway? And so every time I copy a new music on my device I get this bothering check box from Windows.
I've read a lot and the solution should be to change the USB-Mode, but in my AOKP ROM but there is not such an option.
does anyone know how to change the settings in this case?
