Hey guys, big n00b here. I'll admit, I made a very fatal and somewhat idiotic mistake... ended up flashing a bad rom (illusions) to my phone. Unfortunately, after rebooting to test it, the phone completely stopped booting. Can't get into download or recovery mode. Does NOTHING when power is held. I have tried the microSD fix.. went out and got a 16GB card... no luck. This is why I think the bootloader is screwed up. I tried making a USB jig and that didn't work either... I have one coming in the mail, but that's going to be too long to wait.
My computer (running ubuntu by the way) detects the phone:
"Bus 003 Device 069: ID 05c6:9008 Qualcomm, Inc. Gobi Wireless Modem (QDL mode)"
from lsusb.
Guys, PLEASE tell me that we can fix it ... without JTAG or replacing the EMMC... both of those are a bit too much. Would rather just say I spilled pop on it...
I have nearly lost all hope because NOTHING has worked. It isn't showing signs of life... Is there hope?
Is it possible that I didn't try the microSD fix enough times? I mean, I read that you may have to do the write a few times... which I did... :/

There is a guy over on android forums named shappypenguin, he may or may not be on XDA, but he has done magic on supposedly hard bricked phones. The fact that your computer recognizes the phone is a good thing. Does the phone go into download mode? If so, try downloading ODIN. It's literally a phone saver.

No lol, I'm not sure. I have a 16 GB Class 10 card and my phone is 16GB. I have tried multiple images and multiple different guides. I THINK the phone is trying to use the card... but not working for some reason.
Like I said, I have tried a lot of images... but I have no reliable way to confirm if they are the EXACT one I need.
One of the ones It tried was called debrick_sph_l710... but it doesn't seem to work.
To clarify, my phone is a Samsung Galaxy S3 on the Sprint network. Model SPH-L710.
I can keep trying the microSD...
Oh ok, I only know it should work on i9300. Not sure if it does for your model, you might get better help asking in your device specific forum.
Forgive me for bumping this early, but I have an expensive paperweight.
Is there any hope? Or will this require JTAG...?
If it doesn't go into download mode then usb jig, otherwise new motherboard.

What version of Android were you running before you bricked it? It probably doesn't work because you aren't using the correct version.

The rooted (and working) version was 4.4.2. Yes, this happened due to a incorrect version for the phone being flashed.
Ah, that explains why (I meant that it didn't work because you weren't using the correct version of your debrick image), click on the link below, write the debrick file to your SD card, and it should work.

Hey,
i bought a used Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 3G 16GB on the german ebay market.
When it arrives i wondered about the microSD Slot and that it has still Android Version 3.0.1.
When i try to enter the recovery i only have the Donwloading Mode and (i think) kind of Fastboot.(Just a icon of USB)
Unfortunately i also have some kind of Display failure right in the middle of the display. It gets sometime bigger, depending on how it is held.
But most i wonder about the microSD Slot, i tried it but nothing happend. But i am also not sure if i used it right.
So my Question is, what kind/version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 do i have and can i root and update this version to 3.1. And of course how can i use the microSD Slot.
The Sattings say:
Modelnumber: GT-P7500
Android-Version: 3.0.1
Baseband version: P7500BUKD9
Kernel version: 2.6.36.3
Build number: HRI83.279 P7500BUKD9
Thanks in advance
Interesting! We've seen pictures of that model, but never seen released. Some guy from Eastern Europe was showing it. Romania, or Slovakia? Your problem seems moisture under screen. Search the threads. Some say you should put in a refrigerator, but I'm not sure whether it was a joke.
Probably u got the demo version. And u r so lucky if get sd card works!
Sent from my GT-P7510
Hey, thanks for the answers.
Hmm, i think its too risky to put it in the refrigerator. That may kill the battery.
In some way it is great to have this device but aktually it sucks i just wanted a working version of the GT .
In one thread here someone made a system dump of a demo tap, he also says that he has the HRI83.279 P7500BUKD9 but without the microSD Slot. I am wondering why they put it on the device, its a bit confusing. How can i make such a System dump without any recovery? i only have the downloading mode and this Fastboot mode.
Do you think i can root the device and but 3.1 on it. And if so, which Firmware is the right? Do you think it has some other harware specs than the "normal" GT?
...
... (ot maybe it's the same tab 5thelement had? )
I think you should be fine with either...
KG7
KG9
XI1
They all and a few older ones work on the P7500 tab. Not sure about the SD though.
So wish me luck with rooting & Updating
Looks like 5thelement was right. There is an SD card slot....
Hey, flashing seems to be not that easy. I followed the Instructions and also Odin says flashing cwm was successful but i still just have the two options Fastboot and Donwload mode when i try to enter recovery. That sucks. Maybe i need some other / newer Bootload (noob talking)?
One thing i noticed when holding down power and vol down. Sometimes i get in a "force uploading" mode? Does that mean anything?
Thanks in advance
That is weird, it seems that i have the same bootloader like the GT 10.1v. I saw it in a video.
When I enter the Bootloader, the version says "Unknown"
Do you have any idea how i can upgrade it?
Uhh damn, seems that i have done ****. I flashed the recovery, system and boot via fastboot. For recovery i took cwm for boot and system i took the ones from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1128659
What i did:
fastboot -w
fastboot flash recovery ...
boot ...
system ...
also tried nvflash but also no good news.
Now it won't boot any longer, can anyone help?
I still have a unkown bootloader version on my tab. Maybe this is the reason and it has to be updated, do anybody know where to get such?
Can anybody please help me?

Lol seems this Topic has been discussed already.
After 5 hours of flashing, reflashing and flashing i got KI1 working on the tab.
I have contacted the german samsung support and asked for the microSD Slot. Lets see what they tell me. Until now i haven't got it working. I tried it with a 4 GB MBR FAT32 microSD Stick, any idea how i shall try it.
As soon as i finish a video i will post it here
Some prototype devices had a microsd slot, it is a known fact, there are many videos on youtube that prove it.
Production devices don't have it.
It seems that the OP has managed to buy a prototype device.

Jokes aside,
you can sell it in ebay for more price(as it is a rare device) if you get the SD card working and buy a normal one for yourself.

Yeah i have also thought about this, but i am not sure if this is so easy. I am not very expirienced in such things. I think the first thing i have to check is if the slot is recognized by the kernel. Maybe some drivers are missing. Or maybe the sd slot just isnt mounted , that would be great. Does anyone have an example code of an android device mounting a sd card while running?
I tested the slot already with a fat card bur it seems not to work
So i am done with this ****, unfortunatly i noticed that with the retail Rom the GPS is not working.
I am not developer enough to fix this things. I even contacted the german Samsung Support and ask if they have any information. But it seems that the guys sitting there have no idea. They even answered that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 does not have a SIM Slot.
I am now selling the device on the german ebay market. Maybe someone gets the MicroSD Slot running.
Ok so i was in my flash happy mood earlier today..
I saw that ICS slim was updated and was going to try that, well i had ICZen on my phone at the time and tried to flash Slim, well blah blah, it didnt work.. The op told me to flash from a rom that had cm9 (iczen has glitch) so i flashed Lithium MIUI--went back into recovery and started to wipe.. i wiped everything.. So i went to go flash ics slim, and as soon as i pressed 'Yes, install..' it was installing for a very short bit, then all a sudden a reboot and got stuck on the rainbow screen...
I cannot go back into recovery, but i can go into download mode.. BUT this is where the kicker is......
My computer doesnt recognize my device... ive installed driver after driver to get it to recognize. Well, no avail
Even tried installing the drivers on 6 other friends computers (at my college) and all of them still didnt recognize my device..... SMDH.. been trying to fix this all day and im pissed.
Any ideas what to do? Hate to go out and buy another phone......
And before yall say 'you cant flash miui and then go straight to ics, you have to odin' --- No, i did it all the time.. This time something went wrong and idk what
Wow, 158 views and no replies..
Guess i did permanently brick it.. ok
If you can get in to download mode, you're not bricked.
I've read/heard that since our ICS roms are built off of Nexus code, you need to install the nexus drivers. Have you tried doing that? Also, are you sure it's not a bad cable? Try another samsung cable (if you can get a hold of one) to be sure.

as far as views:replies, you have to realize that even though you are in panic mode (weve all been there, so we know how you feel), that doesnt necessarily mean people are automatically going to have an answer for you. in this type of situation, its virtually impossible for anyone to tell you an exact solution (if there is one) unless they are sitting right next to you.

i honestly wish i could tell you exactly, this was a whiiile back, prob over a year.
all i remember was a lot of installing/uninstalling/reinstalling drivers, rebooting comp/phone, unplugging/replugging....it seemed like there was no hope so all i could do all day was fiddle and just hope and pray that i would do something right and the phone would read
im not going to lie though, it does sound pretty bad that youve tried it on multiple computers. that means your possible problems are (from most to least severe):
1. Busted USB port
2. Wrong drivers installed
3. Malfunctioning chord
Although i WILL say: make sure all of your USB connections are free of lint, gunk, etc. I know this sounds like one of those stupid, default troubleshooting steps, and i always looked down my nose at it. however there was a point in time the the comp wouldnt pick up my phone. i tried eeeeverything to remedy it and nothing was working. sure enough, i looked at the standard usb connector on my charging chord and it was FILLED with pocket lint. once i picked it out, BAM good as new!!

Couple of things. Why don't you go over to the Dev section and download the AIO toolbox. Tiber I think has a link in one of the last posts that should still be working. It has all the pit/tar files, drivers (I know, I know), Odin and is very handy. Don't forget to make usre you have the .net files too.
Then try this
Make sure you have ODIN OPEN with admin privileges!
1.) Take off your back cover, remove your sim & mirco sd card.
2.) Remove your battery.
Make sure you have the USB plugged into your PC but NOT your phone!
3.) Hold the volume buttons.
4.) Put the battery in.
5.) Put the USB in.
You don't necessarily need the download mode image to be present. As long as you are getting the COM ID to light up yellow in ODIN, just flash back to stock like normal.

So the one Rapidshare from Tiber isn't working? What about the one from OldeCrow 2 posts up. If neither of them are working, I can get it to you later on tonight when I get home from work.
Regardless, if you have the drivers and have Odin installed, try the tricks in my earlier post and see it works that way. Panic mode is probably not deep set in, don't worry we'll get it on.
When you say yours (and 6 others) don't recognize the phone, are you talking about Mass Storage mode or do all 6 of your friends have Odin installed on their computers? Might seem like a BS question and I am sorry about that but it is a one or the other type situation. It will be in download mode OR mass storage.
Can you boot into recovery by chance?
Depending on what bootloader you have it will be (Froyo) Vol+/- and power or (GB) Vol+ and Power. Also not to sound noob-ish but just bc you have a GB ROM doesnt mean you have GB bl's. Dealt with that with someone else this week and fought me tooth and nail over it.
if you have clockwork mod installed you can put a rom on your SD card through your computer, wipe your phone and then flash the from with a full wipe.

That is what I am getting at.
If he can get into CWR then he can mount the phone to the computer in Mounts and Storage, put a simple 2.2 ROM on there and get it to boot up so that it works. then figure out the driver thing later on once we can get it to fully boot up.

Ok. Keep trying once it is downloaded and let us know how it is going. I am getting ready to leave work soon, so I won't be on until later tonight but there are plenty of others that can help.

Did i lose root? i forgot
So, I was thinking about giving a try the "serial console" way. Any instructions or directions on how to do it? Do I need the 623K resistor between pins 4-5 or in that state the player automatically allow the debug console?
Thanks in advance.
so wait, you flashed the wrong bootloader and now it's not working?
if so, try the ultimate resurrector thread in the dev section
I just used the guides found in the Dev section to resurrect a fully dead player... go there before you really break your player...
Actually, I accidentally flashed the wrong bootloaders & rom. I was dealing with a Galaxy S phone, at the same time. My bad. The problem is that the player is not recognized by my computer. Not even as a "S5PC110 Kit". It's like a real brick.
I think that the only way, is to go through serial console, upload the correct bootloaders and put it into download mode.
Maybe I can boot it by the SD card?! If so, anyone know how I can do it or what image I can use?
Thanks.
I don't think it allows SD card booting, but I could be wrong. When I've used the unbrickable resurrector before the device wasn't being recognized at all.. so if you haven't tried it yet it might be worth giving it a go.
If that doesn't work, you probably have to make or buy something to bring it back from the dead.

Have you tried this on a Linux box? The resurrector works in Linux.
If you are saying that your device is not even being shown as a SEC-S5PC110 when you plug into a usb port, I am not sure what you can do. If you flashed a wrong bootloader, I think you can still bring it back. Do a search and follow the directions found in the resurrector thread. I recovered a SEC-S5PC110 bricked device back from the dead using the method.
Good luck
Anyone with the jtag/uart diagram/pinout, at least?
Thanks.

search it on google. its free but its not easy to use. if you dont nkow what you are doing yo could even make it worse. some one with a working phone needs sto get some hex files and stuff.
Thats odd, I read of some that flashed INT roms and were still able to turn on and use mskip's fix. Battery pulls wont do anything?

i have read the jig wont work on devices that show a blank screen.you can try it tho. worth a try. i was going to try it but by the time the jig gets to me id rather just go tomorrow and hope tmobile actually does exchange it.
JIG will be a no-go, your only hope is either to try and use Qualcomm internal tools (which are not found on the internet) to flash, or JTAG.
DO NOT TRY TO FLASH ANY INTERNATIONAL ROMS EVER, YOU WILL HARD BRICK ON THESE PHONES!

yup now i learned my lesson. the qualcom tool is the qpst i was talking about. but you need the files to flash to it. i think your files are lost bro. unless you send it to samsung so they can fix it. i dont think if they flash it will delete your files since they wont flash to the sd card partition. but then again im not sure if they will notice if you were rooted. next time im saving all my stuff into my external sd
Yea, now I just await the call from Bestbuy about getting more in. My JIG comes in tomorrow so we will see.
Not surprisingly to see people who ruin there device and want to exchange it for another. Of course even though it was there own fault for ruining it they shouldn't have to pay for the replacement.
Makes perfect sense for companies and carriers not to support rooting/flashing. Its bad enough already.

That is the reason Motorola locked their bootloaders, and others have raised insurance premiums. Please don't lie. Its insurance fraud first of all. If you ruined your device by flashing non-stock ROM's and such its time to man up, and dish out the money for a new phone. Don't make other's pay for your mistakes/missfortune. Do some more research on the other method of flashing and see if you can fix it. I wish you luck.

I'm just wondering if you can completely Hard Brick a LG G2 to a point, where there is no revive possible.
I can purchase a cheap LG G2 international version, but the seller says that he broke it during flashing a Kernel.
Can you for example revive a phone, that had a Kernel from completely different phone flashed?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

If it's true he only flashed a new kernel then u can restore it. If he messed with the partitions then.... No. If he used a broken usb cable and fried it....
Well ask to try the phone before u by it. Also check if it's stolen
Alright, I gathered some more information from the seller.
He tried updating TWRP, but he followed wrong instructions from some website.
He can´t enter Recovery or Download Mode on the Phone.
The Display is active, but only Backlight.
When he connects the Phone to his Computer, it shows multiple Mass Storages, but the LG Software doesn´t recognize it.
Is this a common problem, that is easy to fix, or should I rather wait for another Deal to come up.
p.s. I asked him for a receipt, and he says that he has one.

If the guy was updating through TWRP, he probably have some knowledge on the matter, and the chances that he bricked it for good is high.
When I messed up my G2 a few times, being able to enter in download mode was the hint that the phone was revivable, if him really can't enter the download mode, then it is probably a bigger problem.
But the question is, by buying this possible lemon, how much will you be saving compared to buying a brand new?
If it's showing up like that, if you have a Linux machine you may be able to use dd to flash factory images to the partitions. There is a guide to it somewhere on here. But even if you were successful in flashing those, it really depends on how badly he screwed it up. In particular I really hope he didn't damage or wipe his efs. Or at least has it backed up.
Honestly, I'd point him to the right guides and have him fix it. If he screwed up his efs, or messed the partitions up, or fried something, it's dead and not coming back. If all he did was flash a kernel in twrp and it was actually from this phone and it was just a bad download or flash or something, then you'd probably be okay, but if that were the case you'd get a secure boot error and still be able to enter download mode. Personally, I would not buy a phone that won't boot, especially if the seller isn't even sure what's wrong with it.

sounds recoverable, if there is a backlight and mass storage comes up that's good, you can dd partitions with linux
no backlight + no recognizable usb device at all = bricked
still, buy at your own risk
It is.. i just did by flashing a broken rom.. sent it to the repair center and they replaced the motherboard
Right, I asked him if the Device shows as qhsusb_bulk in device Manager, and it does.
The only thing that worries me, is that there is no Boot Logo, most of the people in the Linux Fix Thread atleast get a LG Logo and not just Backlight.
I´m really unsure what to do, I can save like 150€ by buying the broken G2, but well . . . I dont know if I can fix it.
Another problem is, that I have not a single clue on how to operate Linux/Ubuntu, and the only real fix requires either of those

Just look up a guide on how to install an Ubuntu virtual machine. You should be able to connect your G2 to that virtual if you let it capture the USB port. If you can get it cheap, buy it and try to negotiate so you might have a chance on selling it for higher later on if you can't fix it. To me though, it sounds quite fixable, I would go for it.

this doesn't really matter, when I was trying to mess with the bootloader and corrupted it a few times I've never had the LG logo, as long as it comes up as storage you can DD it - the only time its a true brick is with no backlight and no usb device
if theres no boot logo you probably need to DD the aboot in

I had that problem when updating TWRP too. You have to be careful because these recoveries are only made for specific firmware versions. I cant remember how I fixed the issue after only being able to get a backlight on and no image, but I did fix it and my phone works fine. I do think you will need the TWRP files already on the phone to fix though, so you can somehow manage to flash back. They will need to be on the phone since you can push anything via ADB

i've been in this bricked situation when i was trying the 4.4.2 update manually...completely bricked, could not get into download mode too...so gave it to the service centre which at first said the main board will have to be changed when recovering through software upgrade failed...next day i got the phone back as they managed to flash the software back on it...
does not end here...i tried to flash optimus g pro 2 rom through twrp and same thing happened again...but was lucky this time as i could enter download mode and flashed kdz to recover...

And yes i truly believe that our device can be hard bricked like i did mine today.
I tried to compile a custom bootloader for G2 using Qualcom's sources and fraction of LK. But in doing so i left my phone in a quasi-state where it will not connect as a usb device coz it does not pass the bootloader (Although bootloader is working as it should). .
So the only two option remain here for me is
1. To send phone back to LG service center where they'll do idk what.
2. To use JTAG or short the ic (Wonder if it could be done ) i.e manually open the phone and boot into the primary bootloader(Qcom legacy BL).
See that's how you can hard brick ur phone the right way

But it did work coz our bootloader enfoces the signature check not in the sbl.(Our Primary boot loader)
i'm sure of it because it tries to go to download option but freezes at initial stage.
had it been the case my device would've been detected as qucom_bulk device or so..

You my dear friend are a victim of a curroupt bootloader seqence(NOT THE CoRRUPT BOOTLOADER) i.e
Your phone would start something like
1- EFI initialization ok
2-Primary Boot Load -ok
3-Vendor Boot Load -ok
4- Error unable to find proper boot sequence- system halted
So ur best options are the one that i've stated just above this thread.
My case. I root and flash custom recovery then apply OTA = medium brick. Download mode was not functioning, only recovery. To make matter worse, I flashed KK stock rom through ADB in recovery = super brick. Then I went to LG service center with poker face asked for reparation. They asked (confirm) whether your phone is rooted or not (they had already know though) and I just said like It is my sister's phone. Then they they open the phone and maybe directly format the sd card with some stuff. My phone is restored again afterward. In my opinion, software modification can always be repaired unless you fry your phone through overclock or overvolt.
