[Q] - Moto E Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

will moto e get Android L in future ???

Not confirmed by Motorola yet.

It is too early to say since Android L is not yet availbable for many devices except a few via Developer one. Once it is made available or i may say official launched

using libart.so from Android L in KitKat?

Hi,
the title says it all: Is it possible to use the libart.so from Android L in Kitkat? As there are many improvements as I heard of now, this would be great if that's possible

I was wondering the same thing. I am using ART right now on kitkat but inam not getting anything close to the gains Google talked about at IO

As far as I am aware it's not possible as there are additional options that would need to be set during the compiling of the ROM itself. Also the version of ART of Kitkat and Android L are quite different, and trying to run the Android L version on KitKat would cause many incompatibles.

The version of ART in KitKat was an early implementation designed to give developers a taste of whats to come not as a general use feature for the public. As a result the performance in ART on KitKat and on Android L will be quite different, and it's unrealistic unfortunately to expect to see Android L performance gains on the KitKat version of ART. Keep in mind as well ART will keep getting tweaked and improved by the time the final version of Android L is released.
Yeah using directly the libart.so from Android L in KitKat sounds strange, but shouldn't it be possible for the devs to include the progress from Google into their source? Or are there parts of ART Google didn't publish?

In theory it's possible to provide this as Google has started to add components of the Android L preview to it's open source repositories (I haven't looked which particular components have been updated and hadn't been updated), however how well the complied sources would play with KitKat if at all is debatable.

First we must look into 5.0 sources. Now we don't know what exactly google changed

well it will go like kit kat
once it is officially released, someone would then release its sources and then someone would create the rom for our device
hope @munjeni returns for our xperias
It'd be really increadible to see working Lollipop on Xperia P, a 2012 phone with newest software? I'll take it The devs don't have all the source codes for hardware, so I imagine optimizing for our devices won't be buttery smooth (as it isn't with Kitkat either)

The ROM File size is 128 MB, so I split the file into 3 parts :

128mb? for lollipop? i don't think so...kitkat rom is over 200 mb...so it's totally fake....also sourses are few days relesed, and devs in Xperia U Dev Thread said that we have no such skilled professionals to build even alpha rom so fast...
by the way, look at the screenshot on that link....build number is KOT49H, which stands for Android 4.4.2...
this all was my IMHO

Will Xperia Sola get the Android Lollipop update ?
Yeah, like kitkat

Thats gonna be tough job for our devs as they are not experts as what is needed. (No offence to anyone)
We need more devs like @ - percy_g2 and @ - munjeni for this project.
I'm already seeing some Lollipop branches coming out and some commits on github.

I don't think Sola will be able to handle Lollipop properly, because of the low RAM and old GPU.
Lollipop is full of visual overhaul and animations.
My Xperia Sola on ICS has no lags and 120mb free ram now wihout task killer.
Xperia U has same specs and android Lollipop (Previev) is now available for this phone

We'll have to wait until the androidarmv6 team can modify the legacy msm7x2x code for Android 5.0. Google has removed legacy msm7x2x code since ICS.
Guys dont search for miricals. The best rom for this phone model so far is optimus nexus me v6 by todonormal. Just search it in forum. If you want the latest version of android just buy a new one. They have better qualifications and hardware. Anyone who wants information about flashing root and others just read carefully older threads from this forum.

Likely to get android O?

seeing the development on this phone is quite active, i have been wondering if when at some point in the feature android o will be released, if it's likely that we get this in form of lineage or whatever as well?

Is it linked to this GSI? because all I tested didn't work, the only one that started was NFound's Pixe Experience P. Only! and yet it is old and not worth using.
I cant test it fro you .
