I'm trying to use Bluetooth headset with Skype on a non-Samsung KitKat rom, however without any success. When I connect a call, I can hear the phone ring on other side on my Bluetooth headset however as soon as it connects, the headset goes silent. If i switch output to speaker, I can hear them
I've tried many AOSP / CM roms and kernels (including ones based on samsung sources) but all of them have same issue. On stock Samsung Touchwiz 4.3 ROM, it works fine without any issues.
Are there any fixes for it ?

G Tablet running VEGAn-TAB.
I need headset with microphone.
I borrowed a few headsets to test them out.
One USB headset worked but it was inconvenient since it was wired.
One Bluetooth headset worked only with the speakers, the microphone just would not work on the G Tab (it worked on the desktop).
Can you recommend a Bluetooth headset that just works with the setup?
I tried several SONY and Motorola BT headsets and all were working fine except when you disconnect BT you have to reboot to get audio routed back to speakers.
(No other remedy worked)

Did the microphone work in all these cases?
Or did you have to do something special to get it to work?
Please provide a few more details

Which Android release, which ROM (Vegan?), which application (sipDroid, sound recorder, etc), and did headset microphone work (as opposed to built-in mike)?
Appreciate your feedback.
Hi,
I have the same issue with the original ROM (3588). It looks like original firmware does not support Bluetooth headsets with microphone it just support Bluetooth headphones without microphone. Can some one help with it? Or any other custom ROM supports Bluetooth microphone?
Thanks in advance.
Hey, just flashed Liquid 2.7 for my S4 and everything seems to work great, except for hands-free calls through the included S4 headphones. I go to make a phone call with my headphones plugged in and no joy. I've also tried pulling them in while on an existing call and they don't work either.
Has anyone else experienced issues with making hands-free calls with Liquid 2.7 jflevzw? Just shooting in the dark, maybe installing Xposed might help?
Quick update, when making a call via my BT headset while my headphones are plugged in (or plugging them in during call) I have all my sources available to me: BT Headset, Wired Headset, Phone, Phone Speaker. When I change to the wired headset, no call audio comes through, but phone interaction noises route through the headphones.
I've tried to fix permissions through TWRP, but no change . That's about the only troubleshooting I've done.
Also, if you're thinking of flashing to Liquid, know GPS is a little funky. You need to turn off Wifi & mobile network location (Settings/personal/location) or GPS won't work.
Apparently this is an AOSP issue according to the guys over in the DEV forum.
have the latest 4.3 official rom rooted but since upgrading to 4.3 I cannot stream audio to my bluetooth speaker, it seems to connect and I can skip tracks etc but have no sound from the speaker it continues to come from the phone speaker. I have un-paired and re-paired so anyone have any ideas. Thanks
I've bought a pair of bluetooth stereo headphones with mic. I've connected them successfully and both options for phone audio and media are enabled. I can listen to media, music and audio from apps. The problem is when i place a call. Although on the call screen at the bottom left the bluetooth icon is selected the call's audio is redirected to the phone's earpiece not to the bluetooth. The same headphones work great with another phone i checked. I have tried everything from dev, stable roms to aosp rom.The problem persists on call. I've tried mono bluetooth and calling works great. I've tried the sound about app and all the same.I've tried google dialer but also the same problem. So i am left with a bluetooth headset that i can only listen to music and not place a call.Any help or idea?
I am also facing the same problem. The Bluetooth connection displays - "Connected (no phone)". The Bluetooth headset works fine for phone media but doesn't work for calls. Anyone is able to use a Bluetooth device with Redmi NOte4 please?
I've been using Bluetooth on RN4 on nougat. However, I faced the issue you're describing only on Oreo ROMS.

this is a bug prevalent in all oreo roms, however some say that in omni rom, bluetooth call audio works, so maybe you can try that out

It works in Atomic OS Plasma (Oreo).
BTW, there is a list of Oreo ROMs here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/help/extensive-list-oreo-roms-mido-t3741277
Yes exact same problem cannot enjoy call via bluetooth headset. I think it's manufacturer defect in the phone. Cheap Bluetooth hardware Xiaomi placed I guess
On almost all of my other phones, there was a ringing both on the phone and on the bluetooth headset. My Vince seems to just "not" be able to ring calls (on the phone) when any bluetooth headset is connected.
I've tried those cheap "audio routing" apps but they are so unstable you never know when they will or won't work.
Nothing is silenced, it was like this on day 1 when i installed "any" custom rom, it was always the same.
