So, I dropped my phone while taking it out of my pocket and it fell screen down and the LCD cracked. The glass was intact, touch was still working, it just didn't showed stuff. So I sent it to Samsung and they've exchanged the screen. Now, when it's in low brightness the screen has a purple-ish tint to it, and even in max brightness the notification drawer have the same tint. I've searched on the web and is seems to be a software problem, and it was recommended to flash the stock kernel. Since I'm on 4.4.4 with CarbonROM, I can't flash the stock kernel, so I tried other kernels and the problem is still there.
Now, I'm thinking that going back to stock firmware with the stock kernel and then going back to Carbon will fix the issue, but I'm not sure it will work, and plus, I can't find the OG firmware, since the links in this topic are removed. (Btw, if you can provide me the firmware, I'm from Brazil)
If going back won't fix it, then what can I do?
Thanks.
Okay, I went back to stock, the screen was fixed, normal colors everywhere, but the tint got back when I flashed Carbon again. Any ideas?

I am using a galaxy s2 GT-I9100
Last night I decided to go back to the original ROM. When i turned on my phone and got to the "desktop", i found that the colors were faded into an unnatural white and that the banding from darker images was terrible (might be due to the fact that the screen is lighter).
I have tied changing the Colour/Screen Profiles, i have tried reflashing to the original ROM and also to the one i was using before. Nothing works.
What bothers me is the following: before doing any of this (when the phone was working fine) i made a back up. Now, when i restore that back up, the weird white and banding dont go away...
Can anyone please help me?
i am about to panic! please help!! :'(
Could it be hardware? :/
I am noticing a decrease in performance aswell....
sniff....
Hi,
I dropped my Galaxy S2 Yesterday (have no idea if this relates to it) But i plugged it into the charger this morning and everything was blue & some of the screen had turned black and some icons had burnt into the screen it looked like.
After taking it with me because it was still usable, Its not completely black except for maybe the faintest part of blue.
Im running Lite'ning rom, The newest one im pretty sure.
Just wondering if this is a virus? Or the screen is dead. I just cant see how it could suddenly die when it was flat and not turned on.
Phones not under warranty by the way. So maybe you could give me some options?
Thanks heaps guys
Probably the problem is hardware related due to the fall, but you could back all your data and try to do a factory reset to see if it fixes or not. If it doesn't fix maybe you should check your screen hardware.
Thanks for the reply,
I just reflashed Litening with Odin 1.85 and still nothing, I get the vibrations, touch lights, sound ect, But only occasionally a tiny little strip of blue along the top.
How would i check my screen hardware? Because i pulled apart my galaxy s after it died and accidently cracked the screen & Glass
How would i do a factory reset by the way? Since i cant see anything
I'd imagine it's dead. I'd take it to your local store and ask for an estimate on how much it would cost to fix it. If you can't see anything, then the screen is either broken or it got disconnected (or maybe some of the ribbons did at least).
Yeah, I just dont really wanna take the phone apart unless i know its likley to fix it.
When i first got it, I noticed it had black splotches on the screen in very dim light on a white background. Nd im guessing id have to almost buy a whole front screen assembly to replace the front screen D:.
Would i be better just to sell the phone how it is? Or repair it?
I have a Galaxy S3 that I have been running CM 10.2 on for quite some time. Today I dropped the phone and cracked the screen. The phone still worked perfectly in every way despite the cracked screen. I used it for a few hours after without any issues. I took it to someone today to replace the screen assembly. When I got the phone back it turns on and the screen looks fine but it hangs on the samsung screen for 3-5 minutes before booting in to anything (booting the rom, recovery mode, download mode etc. all take 3-5 minutes to start) when the phone finally boots the touch screen does not work at all. All buttons work fine, including the bottom buttons (back and settings) for touch but no where else does the screen respond to touch.
So far I've tried:
- wiping cache
- factory reset
- re-installed CM 10.2 rom
- Took the back off the phone and checked all the connections, unclipped and clipped back in to be sure they were connected ok.
- Completely removed battery and all sim/sd cards for an hour
At this point I'm not sure if I'm dealing with a hardware issue (maybe they guy screwed something up when replacing the screen) or the digitizer/screen he used is faulty? I know this doesn't neccessarily mean anything but when I got it back the new screen still had the protective film etc. on it so I'm almost positive the screen assembly the guy used was at least new.
And I don't really understand where the 3-5 minute boot issue could come from? I wouldn't think it would be related to the screen/digitizer but I suppose anything is possible. What could explain this?
Is there any way this could be a software issue or any other troubleshooting I can attempt?

Very strange, but it looks like it was indeed a software issue after all. For some reason changing the screen out while having CM 10.2 installed did not play well together. I did a full wipe and went back to stock rom and touch is working now. I may try a new install of CM again to see what happens. Odd

Hi
Cutting a long story short, is there a screen calibration app/menu option for the S3? I cracked my screen the other week, and I have had the screen replaced (not by samsung). Ive noticed now that the screen intermittenly sometimes sticks, becomes non responsive and/or the image "vibrates" when I long press on an app to move it. OR when I try to hang up a call, 9/10 times the press doesnt "register"
Before I go and moan at the shop I got it repaired at, is there any app or any way of calibrating the screen ?
I should mention that the phone is not running a stock rom. It wasnt before the screen was replaced and everything ran flawlessly, even with the crack Now I'm no expert but I would suggest they've either fitted a dodgy screen / there's a loose connection or it needs calibration.
If anyone's wondering it is on Temasek's CM11 unofficial build. Although I had it on CM 11 for a while and the problem persisted.
I suspect it is a hardware issue with the replacement screen but I thought I'd ask.
Cheers
Andrew
Flash a full stock rom to test but it sounds like you've a hardware fault.
*#0*#
This is screen test function of sammy based roms. if you want you can try your screen with this
You cant calibrate capacitive screens

If I remeber correctly this behavior happens when the screen is repaired without that special adhesive layer which originally glues everything together.
Back on stock rom, tried the calibration/diagnostic screen.... no dice, according to that it works ok lol.
It looks like I'm going back to the shop I got the repair done, to try and get them to fix it (again!) Bet they will try and charge me more money tbh I am almost at the point of living with it BUT I had two phone calls I could not answer today because the screen wasn't working properly, and that will not do
Edit :- found the accessibility options which allows me to answer/end calls using the hardware buttons. Still a bit gash but better than nothing.
Will see what the shop says, less urgent now, at least I have a way of answering the damn thing lol.
I just noticed this yesterday. When the phone came back from the creen being off, it had a yellow washed out tint to it. I hit the sleep button on and off a few times but it didn't fix it. I manually changed the brightness to full bright but it was still washed out. Toggled it to "auto brightness" back and forth a few times and it finally came back to full white brightness.
This has since happened a few more times. I searched around but haven't found anyone reporting the same issue. Anyone ever seen this?
I have a SM-G900T, rooted via towel-root, still running 4.2.2 Buildx ANES.
Thought I'd update in case anyone else runs into this. After some searching I didn't find any posts with a similar problem ... but plenty of people with screens just blacking out and dieing altogether. Eventually that's what happened to me ... the screen just went dead. The only way I could get it to sort of come on was to boot into recovery mode and then cancel it, that made it sort of wake up. This problem persisted through a factory reset and an upgrade to the NH5 firmware. So, I wiped it and took it to my local TMO store. This phone was three months old, but they didn't hesitate to give me a new one. I expect I'm not the first who has had this problem.
So, if it happens to you, don't waste your time. It's not a software problem. Just take it back and ask for a replacement. I hope this one lasts longer than three months.
