Hey guys, I have a Star A2000 with Froyo rooted. While I was trying to modify my original status bar, the phone blocked and I had to reboot it. I rebooted it but for over one hour it's loading whithout booting into the homescreen. I tryed with the factory reset but nothing. I can't load any rom from Linux, and so I can't fully on the device. Any suggestion? I want to bring back everything! Anybody knows how I can do so? Without the flashing cable is it possible to restore or put back the original system and settings?
recovery menu
Turn off the phone
press vol up and power button in the same time
that will bring you to the recovery menu - press home key to see options
navigate trough options with vol up and down and meniu
take care - reset to factory my wipe your imei off. if you are lucky this might not happen

I've tried this way all the time but it seems to don't work
Is there not an update.zip in other to install the original rom? Because I'm not with the flashing cable so I can't use it to flash. Is there any other way I can do it?
If you cant access the recovery by using power button + volume up key at the same time when turning on the phone then the recovery partition is not working (should show up with android ! screen or custom recovery) - If you cant boot in to the recovery menu or the system partition containing the OS you have likely bricked your phone, the only chance you may have in my opinion is a factory reset - which you say has failed or connect usb while phone is booting and hope you can get an ADB connection (which is possible due to a bug but only seems to work intermittantly - I have managed to fix a brick via this stroke of luck before)
Having a backup as well as a working recovery or system partition is the key to playing with your phone - one partition should always be working to restore the other when or if it fails.

HI !
I´m on the same situation.
After install de CW recovery, made 3 nandroid backups of different states of my phone and tryed to flash 3 different ROM MODs (including the ICS 4, hahaha) i bricked my A2000-GPS.
I´m able to enter CW recovery menu using PWR+VOL.UP and navigate as well. I wiped all data, cache partition and try to restore all my backups one by one... Nothing brings back my OS... I still stucked into boot screen (the first one, i´m not entering in the boot_logo image...
After many tryes, i wiped all data again and made a factory reset using CW recory: Nothing...
I notice that i´m loose the factory recovery mode (PWR + VOL.Down)... And i also never made an IMEI backup. Could be that?
I apreciate any help. Any light in the end of tunel, hahaha
Kind regards!

Updating:
- I´m using the ClockworkMod Recovery V4.0.0.5.
- My CWM recovery is able to read my SD card, so i can put any .img or .zip file inside it.
I format the folders:
/boot
/cache
/data
/system
Into "Mounts ans Storage" menu.
After I recovery one of my nandroid backups. Normal rebooting and.........................
NOTHING ! I´m still stucked into first boot img.
It´s normal this screen delays like 15 ~ 20min. to disapear?
Hi.
related with CWM I also have a weird issue.
My wife's old A2000 is now in my hands to play with it. The phone was virgin (stock rom no rooted).
I rooted the phone and installed cwm/rom manager.
The weird issue is:
1) If I click in Rom Manager option " Reboot into CWM" the phone reboot in CWM with all options working including rom backup.
2) starting with th phone off I press the keys power + vol.up Iget not the CWM but the "fatory Mode" green menu with 6 options (Full test, Test Report, Clear flash, version and Reboot).
3) pressing power + vol.down it simply boot normay the system.
What can be wrong with this "ex-virgin" A2000?

-Has anyone figured out how to fix this error?
ClockworkMod Recovery (as the default recovery image) and the Eris are a disaster waiting to happen. Almost every stuck Eris like this happens from Clockwork, while you never read it happening from Amon_RA recovery.
If you can flash something, I guess you may as well flash ErisMTDNuke_v0.9.zip and hope that clears the errors in the partitions.
See this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23034380&postcount=3
While this gives an overview of how to use the new unlockable 1.51.0000 bootloader to get the 1.49.2000 S-OFF bootloader on, it shows the steps as well to flash ErisMTDNuke. After you flash that, hopefully it will leave the phone in a state where you can get a working HBOOT and - more importantly - Amon_RA recovery.
I just walked somebody through the process in a bit more detailed steps a few days ago (including adding the flash of Flashback21_v2 in order to get the radio flashed back to the current version; flashing the old root PB00IMG.zip flashes an old radio). It starts with this post: http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/556826-stuck-boot-up-screen.html#post4475687
But, in your case, since you cannot start in HBOOT, you'll have to try starting with ErisMTDNuke. Then flash ErisMiscReset_v0.9.zip (and hope that works) and then try flashing the root PB00IMG.zip file (renamed as PB00IMG.zip). From there you should be able to start HBOOT, put the phone in fastboot, flash Amon_RA recovery, and then you should be able to get the phone back in order.
(By the way, you start in HBOOT by holding only VolDn - you don't need to hold send as well.)
hi doogald, Thank you for replying. I will read and try this on the phone as soon as i get home from work.
Okay so i was able to flash both ErisMTDNuke and ErisMiscReset_v0.9.zip and both flashed without error, but for some reason when i went to flash the PB00IMG.zip, it was not showing up in my storage card even though i could see it every time i mounted back to my laptop. I'm not sure why it wouldn't come up in my sd card? Anyway i think i screwed up.... i was being distracted and pulled out the battery, so when i tried to turn the phone back on, it went straight to the 3 droid skateboarders. No more clockword mod recovery. I tried the vol down + Send + end and this brought up fastboot USB in the top left corner of the 3 droid scateborders screen. I figured i'd try to use an RUU to see if i could flash using that, but there was a bootloader driver problem. I searched around and found drivers for it. I then tried the RUU but it gave me the 170 error about the USB not being connected. So i did another battery pull cos i read its not good to leave the phone on in fastboot because it kills the battery. I put the battery back in and put the phone in the charger. I didnt get the orange charge light, so i tried turning it back on, no use... it wouldnt turn on Now im stuck.. have no idea what to do?
PB00IMG.zip does not get flashed from recovery - it is processed by HBOOT. As I said, you get into HBOOT by holding VolDn while starting the phone, not holding VolDn and Send.
Erisuser1 posted an illustrated guide to PB00IMG.zip updating here: http://androidforums.com/eris-all-things-root/75384-visual-example-pb00img-zip-update-method.html
You can try to leave the phone plugged in to a charger overnight (not to a PC but to a wall charger) and see if it will charge. Don't try to turn it on while charging - just let it sit for several hours. There is an external charger that Seidio Online makes and Amazon sells, so you can charge the battery outside the phone.

Ressurection: Phone has come back to life, it has power again!!!

I did a battery pull, and pressed the power button for about 5 sec to discharge the motherboard of the phone. I replaced the battery and pushed the power button again. The phone vibrated and went straight to the skateboard droids screen. I was semi relieved in a way
Doogald, i tried the volume down and End button to get into HBOOT, but it doesn't work. It just goes to the blank screen with the 3 droid skateboarders.
I can't really use the link you gave me because i'm not able to get into HBOOT. Is there another way to do this? BTW..Thank you for helping me!
I think that the only thing that you can try is to get the RUU for the new 1.51.0000 unlockable bootloader and try installing that.
You get it from here: http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader
Register for an address at the top, select "Droid Eris" from the dropdown, click "Begin unlock bootloader", answer the questions in the popup, and then you can download an RUU that will hopefully get you the 1.51.0000 unlockable bootloader.
I downloaded the RUU, i also downloaded HTC sync but my device is not being picked up. Is there any way to fix this, i think if i can just get my phone recognized by my computer, i should be able to run the RUU.
Try a different cable. However, it's quite possible that if the phone cannot get into HBOOT, it cannot be accessed by the PC. If that's the case, sorry to say that I think the phone is a brick.
Do you think this is a driver issue? is there some way i can connect to the phone using the fastboot command in sdk ? It does show the "fastboot USB" in the top left corner, though it shows that even when i disconnect the cable from the computer.
Is there anyone out there with this problem? Im not ready to give up.
If anyone is still stuck with an Eris that is bricked, i suggest you look into "JTAG" check out ebay for people that offer the service. They will do it for you for about $30 -$40. It fixes the fastboot and Hboot. You can load whatever firmware you want to after.
MY HTC ERIS LIVES ON !!! WOOOOHOOOOO
I must admit, I don't know much about HTC devices. I've been on Moto devices for years. Unfortunately for me, when a co-worker screws their phone they come to me shouting "you hacked your phone, fix mine!"
This particular case is a doozy and I've never seen any problems like this before. I've searched the forums quite a bit but only found semi-similar problems with devices being rooted and such.
The scenario is apparently she was playing a game on her stock, unrooted, HTC Evo 4G LTE when the phone rebooted for no reason. When it restarted, it would only go to a white splash screen with the following information:

This whole screen is a new experience for me and the catch is, I cannot make a selection. I can press the power button all I want at any of the options, and the darn thing will not do anything.
The only thing I can do at the moment is turn it back off and let it charge.
A few days ago when she first brought it to my attention, I ran threw some trouble shooting scenarios that Motorola users should go through, the first of which being make sure the darn thing is charged. We did so at work, and when she tried to boot it again, it gave some errors about trying to load a .img file as well as a .zip file under the information screen posted above.
I assumed that this was the phone trying to boot from a system image that was corrupt or not there. Unfortunately I don't have the exact information as I cannot replicate the error right now.
I was hoping that I could bring it home and either put an "update.zip" file in it and have it "repair" the system files, or push a stock system onto the device through a Windows app, but I'm not coming up with anything in my searches.
Can anyone shed some light on this situation for me?
I'm positive it was unrooted and stock. She removed the SD car before letting me take it, however, I do have a spare I can use to put any files on it should I get the options to work.
Go get the RUU zip file from http://unlimited.io (choose S-off exploits > Dirty Racun > Evo 4G LTE > then on the right side is the RUU.zip download and then put it on the sdcard as "PJ75IMG.zip" minus "" and the caps matters in this case.
Thanks for the info. So far I've been able to replicate the previous error message which was stating it was missing the exact image file you pointed me to.
I put the .ZIP file into the root of my spare SD card and slapped it in. The phone started loading it automatically, and stops once reaches "Parsing... [SD ZIP]" with a number of options (1-19)
The only button that does anything, maybe helped by the fact that the Volume down button is apparently not working, is the volume up button. If I hold it, it will ask if I want to load the .ZIP file. If I let go of the button at all, it immediately tells me: "Cancel update! Press power to reboot"
The same thing happens if I just press the volume up button at that same screen.
After this, I figured out how to boot into safe mode, but don't know where to go from there as a normal boot is still impossible, and I need to get the pattern to unlock it from her later today...
I thought the ruu was ran from fast boot USB from your pc
Sent from my EVO 4G LTE using xda premium
RUU is run through fast boot and on board the device. You need to delete the game app if you can get in through safe mode.
If your in safe mode when you get the unlock pattern. Go into settings/sd-card/factory reset. Remember to export her contacts to the SD card because if you don't they will be deleted unless she already synced her contacts via google.
#Root-Hack_Mod*Always=LTE
Okay. So far I've been able to export everything from the phone onto my SD card and my computer. Managed a factory reset, but in the end, it's the same results. Safe mode seems to work, but when I boot normally, without the SD card in, I only get the white screen, (Hboot? Bootloader? I dunno) and when I have the SD card in, it tries to load the image files, but won't let me because of this bug with the volume up button.
Did you select factory reset from within the phone itself or threw the boot loader also when you say white screen, is there any kind of errors or information on the screen ??

I did it through the phone it's self in safe mode. I took my SD card out and rebooted before I did so.

That's just the thing. I can't actually make a selection. If there was a way to initiate it at the computers end like I can with my Spyder, I don't think I'd have a problem. I don't have any software or drivers though for the Jewel.
Sorry for a late response. Got a bunch of double shifts lately.
Just another angle to attack this issue....the volume down button isn't stuck in the pressed position is it? From how I read your OP, it sounded like it was behaving as if volume down is being held down during bootup which would keep getting stuck at bootloader....if its been verified not to be stuck then I apologize for the tangent...hope you get it figured out...

I understand the confusion about the button.
It isn't actually stuck in the pressed position to my knowledge. It seems like it just doesn't register anything when you press the button. I have removed the rocker for an idea for a test, but still got the same result.
I can't be completely sure it isn't stuck past the button though. The actual mechanism clicks like it's supposed to at least.
I had a look at the suggested topics already mentioned surrounding my issue. "ilikebubbles" was the closet match, except they had an accessible OS where debugging and fastboot can be checked.
Im using and m8 international 2014 rooted device. build and software numbers are unkown at the moment as i didnt make a note of them when i rooted 9 months ago.
The problem began last night when i tried to flash "theunlockr.com/rom/ehndroix-v-14-10-22-rom/"via twrp. twrp in the past has always been super reliable and flashes roms at ease. last night i formated internal and wiped dalvick etc and then phone rebooted and tried to go back into recovery. the twrp splash screen flickered for a bout .6 of a second a few times and then hangs on the first htc splash screen. The only intervention that gets me into bootloader is holding power and the down vol.
i noticed i have s-on and cannot find a tutorial anywhere online i.e here, xda, google and utube on how to make this "off" Do i even need to for fixing twrp? All my adb's are current and i have the latest version of htc sync.

yeah, hard reset (with vol down and power held down for 10 secs) seems to load bootloader but when selecting the factory reset option it just goes into the boot cycle as an infinite loop not progressing beyong the attempt at launching twrp. the only way to shut the phone off is to excecute the fast boot option (not pc plugged in) and hold vol down and power. Thats about the full functionality i have at the moment. All data is secured by titainuim on sd card and cloud.

thanks for the reply i forgot to mention my phone isnt recognized as a devise when its plugged into the pc
Did you switch to fastboot then plug in? If it doesn't work you may have a broken charging port on the tx/Rx pins or a faulty cable
If it shows in fast boot, follow the thread for s-off and TWRP recovery, then try flashing slimkat ROM . Good luck
