Ok so I have 3 major problem with this phone, I ordered this phone online and I don't think its a US version since I have a bunch of Chinese/Japanese apps...
first problem that really bugs me is that sometimes the signal disconnects randomly and I have to do a manual search (Settings/more/mobile network setting/network operators) to get it to work. I have t mobile all my settings are set to tmobile ... I don't know because its a foreign phone the radios aren't meant to work with us careers or the problem is from something else ...
Second problem is (this only happened to me twice) over the night my battery drains out.
Third problem is sleep of death, after the last update it only happened once but I want to know if anyone else is experiencing this.
over all I think this phone has good quality built but the software optimization is as good as a beta!
Do you have any ideas? Is there any US version or close to US version android system for this phone that I can install without rooting? Something with asian apps

I have this phone since yesterday but I can already tell you, that from what I know, there is no official version for the US market, yet...
I read something about a version comming up for Verizon I think. Anyways, this could explain your network connection problems. I would imagine that Z2 should offer a world wide network support, but perhaps it is not in this case.
The network problems could explain also battery drain. If the signal is bad or the phone keeps searching for network, the battery will die rapidly.
What I can recommend is to try and run the repair phone option from Sony Suite that you install on your pc or mac. It will wipe and reset your phone but also update firmware, if applicable.
If this does not help, then you will either have to return the phone or wait for some US firmware including US modem versions for the phone.

Is there a way to flash a legit firmware without root?
No root required to flash using flashtool.

First of all - check did you got Sony Z2 or Chinese copy.
Try to check IMEI with Sony.
Second...
Z2 is quad bend device and it'll work on all continents but if you got Chinese only version (apparently it's a bit bigger, only few mm, I saw that info in screen protectors thread) then you are screwed.
I had many signal problems when I flashed German, UK, Italy....any other firmware except t-mobile fw from my country.
I had same problems, no 4g, signal lost every few minutes and battery drain (device is trying to connect to network but it can't and that's killing battery).
What you can do is (!first check do you have original Z2! - Otherwise you could brick your device)
Download few firmwares and try...
It would be best if you could find Global Generic firmware but I'm not sure there is Global for Z2.
Wipe all!
That's important to get rid of all Chinese apps and letters.
Yes, you'll lose data but who cares...
You need working device, right?
Not device with your data which cannot connect to network...
Test one fw by one and you'll find what's best for your region.
You don't have to root device, just enable develiper menu in settings and enable usb debugging.
Download flashtool (v16) and flash firmware by firmware until you find the best for you.
There's a big chance LTE won't work on those fw...
You'll have to wait for US firmware because of baseband files...
Battery will be OK after that..

try the best which suits you ,if u go for india there are some pre-installed apps which u may like or not
i did not tried any new FIRMWARES ,try countries like uk because english is the standard there
in flash tools uncheck wipe data so your old data will not be lost , but installing fresh firmware with wipe is best
what is sleep of death
if its something like you cannot wake up your phone for example when you recieve a whatsapp message and cannot open screen I have the same ****ty thing
I installed Canada version ... I'm gonna test it for a day

I do try to switch of lte which eats battery
Try to find in Canada firmware for does anybody has the same problem
I have an extremely poor reception in Canada. I bought my Z2 in Hong Kong and it is on 17.1.1.A.0.402. So does flashing to 17.1.A.2.55 fix this reception issue?
Flashing no firmware will fix your reception issue
Infact most of the issues the Z2 has is caused by google due to Z2 running 4.4.2, 4.4.2 has alot of base module issues and they are not present in 4.4.3 or 4.4.4
Reception issues seem to be common globaly, this apears to be 402 firmware, 55 and 69 both have no issues to do with mobile reception, or at least to me i haven't seen any

Sadly, I turn off auto-brightness when not outside in the sun. Otherwise, as you said, it makes the screen too dark.

I can't see the video, I get an error saying it's private?
But I used to have an issue with auto brightness reducing itself to almost 0% too, it got fixed when I updated from 10c to 10d
Since then it works great, no more brightness issues at all :good:

Same here, solved when received 10E
Thanks for the response guys, I already changed the video link so it should be watchable this time.
I mean even after I unticked(turned off) auto-brightness and maxed out the brightness, I found it still active when I brought the device to a dark place as the display gradually went dim, the auto-brightness reactivated and deactivated itself when checked, so strange.
I'm on 10d but I still have the problem /:

Hi, why are you in hurry to upgrade to Nougat, my H850 have lost over 12 hours autonomy since i had it.
Can anyone please check if hotspot still works with latest firmware 10m on h860?
My hotspot used to work flawlessly but after the update all I see is after I start it it would show that it's on and the icon top left shows 0 connected but when I search for it on my other device, there's no wifi and within those 10-15 secs it automatically switches off.
Can anyone confirm this?

Hi rjpaul,
I have seen great reviews on split screen, extra doze (data saver) and battery life.
Though, I am afraid of some of the negative comments about the new operating system.
By the way I noticed google is following alphabetic orders in operating systems
J K L M N: Jeally bean; Kitkat; Lollipop; Marshmallow; Nougat
Maybe the next operating system will start with O letter.. probably they would name it "google Omlet" haha lol.

Did you update over OTA? or did you download the update from kdz link?
I just take a look and it appears that B11 is up to download from http://www.ztedevice.com/support/detail?id=98CEB24F9FFD433EA99EC424163149A6 but i've yet to get an OTA from my device is self.... ZTE really need to step up their software strategy and dev and it going to hit them hard if they continue to deliver crappy OS to users.
Same hardware and they are putting different kind of software variant and this is really stupid....

Have you tried forcing the German firmware update? The updates seem pretty universal for G models.
I'll admit, the current approach ZTE adopted for firmware updates for G models is poorly thought out, but at least the German dev team has been as active as the US one, so we still can receive updates/fixes pretty frequently.

I think you need to put it onto an SD card. After updating to 7.0, if you aren't prompted for an update to 7.1.1 (I dunno if this has changed since), you want to manually update again, this time to B01 using any of the links floating around the forums.
Once you are on 7.1.1 B01, it should this time prompt you with the B02 update.

So is this the official upgrade from B02 (7.1.1)?
Apparently no just ZTE remove the B10 rom file and placed B11.
What's the point of doing that with so many months delay.
ZTE should had upload the latest B02(7.1.1) and not old B11(6.0.1) to everyone want manually upgrade to latest version since many users don't get OTA anytime.

Whether that B01 is a final release or a leaked version, you will get an official B02 update prompt.
Regarding the update strategy, It's a poorly thought out process by ZTE. Clearly the German devs are the only ones actively working to keep our devices (G variant) up to date. ZTE should've made this clear to users in other markets once the nougat updates started rolling imo.
It definitely isn't perfect, but it's at least reassuring knowing that we can at least receive updates for our model.

Big issues on voice playback, when u playing a voice message try cover the proximity sensor the voice message play out loud via laud speaker. It supposed to play with interspeaker instead. I am hitting hard when I tried to listen to my private voice message by putting near my ear and u know what happened next... It boom at close encounter... Wth.
As the prevent pocket dial feature is never there... It prevent phone accidentally unlock and press while in my pocket. Not dialling in my pocket.

Not entirely sure what you mean by the first part. I tried playing back messages (sound from both speakers) then moving the phone to my ear/covering proximity sensor to listen and it seemed to work as intended (sound only from the top speaker). It also adjusted automatically from full blast, to a lower/safer volume level. Sounds like the opposite of what you're experiencing.
I'm curious how your phone is unlocking by itself. I'm on fingerprint/pin setup which seems improbable that it could unlock itself. If you're using smart unlock... I guess the only work around for now is to not use it. Or is it dialing with the emergency dialer? That would be a problem...

Where do you live? For instance in you live in North America, you do not want H930 or H930DS as they don't have the major carrier bands.
For most people in Europe, H930/H930G.
Most everyone else, US998 V30+ or LS998 V30+ (which can easily be converted into US998 V30+). V30+ has 128GB internal memory.
Thanks for the replies. I was actually asking about defects that may have plague some v30 units during it's initial release. Like for example I heard some early models screens have blue when you look at it from the side etc. I will definitely see if it has network issues before paying. Thanks

The blue off screen viewing never bothered me, since I don't care that other people can't read my texts/emails.
I'm the one looking straight at my phone, so there's no blue. Why would YOU look at your phone from the side?
This was discussed in depth by early adopters and isn't an issue. See, problem is reviewers HAVE to find something wrong. They have to find pros and cons, because (except for XDA editors and their obsession with OnePlus) no phone can be perfect. And if early reviewers make it seem like something "CATASTROPHIC!" for their review headline, they will get more web views.
This phone was the best phone of 2017.

The off axis blue tint was the biggest bull**** I've heard reviewers say, probably ever. I've put this phone side by side with the Galaxy S9+, and the amount of blue tint is almost identical, as well as the overall quality of the display. Yet the Galaxy was praised for the display, while the V30's display was the most negative point they could bring up about the phone. The only REAL problem LG V30 had was the uneven display brightness that plagued the early models, and even that was only noticeable on very low brightness in the dark.

Well said.
Thank you all again for your replies. My new V30 will here tomorrow
Hi so i just got my new LG V30 6 days ago and every thing was going great till 2 days ago I decided to update to pie via OTA. After the update the wifi signal is really poor. I now get frequent disconnect when using wifi. I have to sit next to my router before I get steady connection. Please what could be the problem?

Which V30 variant did you get? I assume one of the H930 since only they and the Korean variants have Pie?
Possibly factory reset can fix the issue, but this is one reason I don't like taking partial image OTA vs flashing full image KDZ.
Possible solutions:
* Factory Reset
* Reinstall Pie via LGUP Refurbish mode
* Downgrade back to most recent Oreo, until you're ready to try Pie again. See post #2 of the EU H930 KDZ thread. This is assuming you have H930?

OK.
Well, the solutions I mentioned are still valid except you need your variant KDZ, not H930.
Sent via open market LG US998 V30/V30+

Thanks for the reply. so I have a factory reset but it did not change a thing. I have downloaded the official kdz pie from LG with 3.4gb storage. please advice me on how to flash. I have downloaded and install LGUP from this thread HERE but I am unsure to proceed because of difference. should I use the same LGUP and settings from the thread to proceed? thanks again

The Dev Patched LGUP I would use is attached to post #2 of this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79964731&postcount=2
Those instructions are for downgrading H930, so ignore that. It's the version of LGUP attached to that post which I'm talking about. Install it, choose your Korean variant Pie KDZ you wish to flash and use "Refurbish" mode.

I was just about to start then remember I do not know which mode to set my phone on. should I put it in download mode or file transfer mode?
Update. I have flash the pie kdz with LGUP process set to refurbish and phone in download mode then factory reset. Still very very crappy wifi connection. My old galaxy s4, note 4, s7 and PC all connects easily and stays connected until I disconnect them. But my V30 will take time to connect and disconnect in like 10 seconds later. I will have to keep connecting about 20 times in a roll before it will finally connect well. Even then, a little distance from my router will disconnect it and then I will have to start trying to connect again. I am presently downloading Oreo. Will see if Oreo will solve my problem, as I am not exactly sure if the problem only started after OTA pie update.
All good in Oreo. I really love Pie tho
