I've been using an X2 (that I got last year) for a while now, as a Wi-Fi device. It started out great, but these days it tends to take ages for it to respond to or carry out any action. I don't mean to be unhelpfully unspecific, but I mean that EVERYTHING lags - the launcher, the browsers, the Twitter app, the Play Store, the camera app, the lock screen ...
But what makes this truly baffling is how inconsistent it is. Once in a while, the device will actually start feeling pretty responsive. I can even play some (relatively) intense games (such as Riptide GP), given time to settle.
In mid-June, I finally tried using a custom ROM - Eclipse 2.3, to be specific; since I'm still unused to messing around with this specific phone and was already on 2.3.5, Eclipse seemed like an obvious choice. (The fact that I can still record 720p30 video, something other ROMs claim to have issues with, certainly helped.)
Anyway, I thought wiping and using a new ROM, free of bloatware, would solve the lag issue - but one month later, the X2's performance is falling behind even lesser-spec'd phones, like my Incredible, despite a fairly lightweight software loadout and finding no clear culprit when I look at wakelock monitors and task managers.
I almost want to say that the real cause of the lag is something that fstrim could fix - y'know, if fstrim could actually do its thing on the X2. But judging by LagFix, it can't.
I don't suppose any enthusiasts are still around who mind helping me solve this problem?

My guess is that motoblur is a very poorly optimized skin. Eclipse still has some blur in it iirc which is why it's not that much faster than stock. I was running eclipse until I switched to CM7 because I was tired of my phone being so unresponsive. If you want to try out CM7, you're gonna have to sbf back to 2.3.4 which isn't any more complicated than flashing a new rom. Now I can actually use my phone without wanting to throw it against a wall.

Even at the time of posting, I already had a RAZR M as my primary phone. I still like to mess around with older phones, though, while I'm at home and reading news or such.

Being lazy, and unwilling to sacrifice camcorder abilities, I've avoided CM7 for a while on the X2.
Now I have enough devices to not worry about lacking a camcorder with enough space. So I might give it a shot.

Ah, whoops. Seems I was remembering that issue from a CM9 ROM for the phone.
Guess my only excuse is laziness, then.
As SD_shadow suggested, try v6 supercharger. When I had my x2, it increased the benchmark score by a couple thousand.
From your symptoms, (responsive sometimes and laggy as heck others) it sounds like a rogue app is eating up precious processor %. V6 may help in keeping that app out if the RAM, as it does mess with min free and also the priority of what type of apps to keep

Here's a youtube video I posted that shows the issue. h t t p://youtu.be/F6ojmzPuOJQ (remove spaces from " h t t p"). Note at the 2:03 mark when I launch "Browser" the music stutters and also at 2:42 when I launch "Manage Applications" . Other little sound glitches are present when locking the screen. This seems to be an issue affecting a lot (if not every) Droid X2's. This is a bare bones stock, unrooted, OTA Gingerbread with no apps installed from the market whatsoever. Anyone else have this issue ?
Funny enough, I had zero issues with audio playback until Gingerbread. Now it pops and stutters, moreso when I'm doing things. Pre-rooted Gingerbread, with bloat cleaned off of it.
Official Response from Verizon.
“This happens on my phone too which is running Gingerbread. This is a known issue with Gingerbread. There’s a software update in the works to fix this.”
I explained that my Droid X did not have this problem nor did the Incredible that I had been using for the past few weeks. They said “that’s because the Incredible is running froyo.”
I asked why I was not told that there was an audio playback issue with the phone they sold it to me 2 days ago and they said it’s because “Gingerbread just came out.”
Finally I asked them to replace my phone which was 2 days old and defective and they said “there was nothing they could do for me because there is a software update in the works and any replacement phone will also be running Gingerbread and have the same issues”
They recommended I flash back to froyo which does not have the issue. I know for fact this is not true because I did do a full SBF back to froyo using the official Verizon signed SBF file and still had the issue.
So, this leaves a lot of unanswered questions:
How come if there is a software update in the works has there been no real acknowledgement that there’s an issue from Verizon or Motorola?
If this affects all Gingerbread phones how come there are so many users saying they do not have any issues with audio playback on their devices?
Has anyone else addressed Verizon directly about this issue and gotten a similar response?
You would think a software update to patch a known issue with audio playback on the Droid X2 would be fairly big news.
those of us who've been flashing roms and modding our phones for awhile realize that the devs and hackers do a much better job of creating roms and tweaks that work better than the manufacturer releases. *****ing to vzw or motorola will get you no where.
root the dx2, debloat and run zeps v6 supercharger scritp. all of your issues will go away.
your choice.
Issues don't go away rooted, debloated and supercharged. I've tried it all....even got a replacement x2 from verizon which SHOCKINGLY did the exact same thing. They refuse to acknowledge it's a problem and told me I can't expect perfection from my phone and that all phones have quirks that you have to live with......
fought and fought with them and the only thing I could get out of them was a downgrade to a fascinate (which the x2 replaced when my fascinate was missing calls and samsung had no idea what to do) I didn't have much trouble with music on it so I ended up taking it but the battery life on it with froyo sucks so it's far from a solution that makes me happy....

0vermind, I've installed your Init.d hack and your speedy scripts. Unfortunately, I still have audio skipping issues.
I had zero issues with audio skipping when I first got the phone. I was rooted and running the CorteX2 Rom on Froyo. I SBF'd and went to Gingerbread as soon as the Eclipse ROM was released. I ran it for a couple of days and ended up flashing back to CorteX2 because the audio skipping was terrible. Unfortunately, development has completely stopped (understandably) for Froyo.
I'm now running Eclipse v0.4 and the skipping still remains. I actually PM'd you yesterday about a possible fix, but I haven't heard back from you yet.

And I now add a NEW issue.to audio problem
I just made a call. The ringback tone they had set started skipping when I was calling.
And no it wasn't a bad connection or signal. I have tested this a multiple locations with multiple calls to different numbers with ringback tones. Now this just seems way to ridiculous to me.
Can anyone confirm this also happens to them? I am very curious about this.since it isn't really streaming music.on 3gthe problem it can now be confirmed it os the x2 specific problem. And I think vzw should replace all our phones with a bionic if it works better and we want it lol
Now they either need to fix this wit an update or give us ALL 4gI phones hahahaha
Im nit joking about the skipping but I am sarcastic joking in some of this post....don't kill me
Ive had the same issues you guys have with the old X2 (new really). I went with old reliable and.. ive tried like hell to make it skip... opening browser, phone, xda forums app, etc... The main issue is, is this version of android. This 2.3.3 came out last year. Which means this thing is optimized for 1 core. We have 2. No matter how compatible a product is there are still issues and glitches if said os is not built for it. 2.3.3 was not built for dual cores. Since 2.3.4 and up were released when dual cores where being implemented there would be none of this. We have a junk os fw on a powerful device. Its like running win 95 and down on the latest computers there will be issues to hell. I never heard of these music skips for XOOM which is using tegra2 because honeycomb was built for dualcores. Its not surprising that we only have work a rounds and no real solution. We won't until we get a proper os fw on this thing.
To mitigate the worst of it:
Eclipse 0.2.2 (that's what im using and im not updating)
V6 noop script
V6 supercharger update 8 setting 9
98kickasskerneltweaks.
Out of 85 songs while doing nothing and just listening to music in mp3 format with 128-320 quality setting only 1-3 songs skips the rest play without hick ups. And when I open the web browser for the first time it skips and then runs fine on most websites (the ones I frequent don't skip but I can't say not all will). I don't get skipping with xda's or droidforums apps like I used to get.
I suspect that once we get 2.3.4 or 2.3.5 it will be gone. The bionic is coming out with 2.3.4 for a reason. But hopefully someone will buy it and test out music. I just wish the bionic was tegra2 with 2.3.4 cause then we would have a definite answer that it out is for sure this os fw ver. But either way I beloved it is the os. Im about 90% sure it is. Cause its deffinitly not handling the second core right and I find it hard to believe that 3 months after release and there are still deffective tegra2s out there which is why I don't think its the chipset. But they moved away cause of the badpress because they (motor) was inept at getting us a proper os on the phone that is built for not compatible but actually designed to run dual cores.

Thanks for the tip. Just tried it & it skips for me though. I'm on the stock GB rom, rooted with one-click & running naven's latest build.prop & init.d tweaks. Strangely enough, the stock music player performs the best for me.

I guess I should have stated what I am running... Rooted GB with Eclipse 0.5 ROM. Ive made no edits to build.prop or anything else. Only edits on my phone would have been implemented by Eclipse. Not running any superchargers or anything else. (Unless they were built into Eclipse)
So! My mother is on the lookout for a new phone, and this guy is cheap on Verizons site. Her phone that she has now, the LG Revolution, has constant freezing issues that irritate her beyond all belief, and because I know Android she dumps them all on me. I'm looking for some questions answered about this phone before I decide if this is the phone for her:
I have read on the Engadget Review that this phone freezes often. After custom ROMs are installed (I'm thinking MIUI), is this problem alleviated?
The LG Revolution has this weird issue where it's way too easy to scroll on it, which makes opening icons on any homescreen app drawer a huge PITA.
I basically need to be able to install ROM, drop it in her hands, and feel comfortable that she's not going to run into any hardware issues with the phone. This includes freezing because of memory issues.
Also, the drop of 4G isn't an issue, it's not in the area anyways.
Thanks guys for your comments and advice ahead of time.
This device pretty much poops on the revolution. That being said my device never froze when it was stock. We have alot of rom options from mtd based roms such as android 4.0 ICS v4, CM7.1 stable, Miui, Tsm pool party...also there are some really good TouchWiz Ginberbread roms such as, Superclean v.5, PWGB, Geewiz etc... I currently am bouncing between cm7 and ICS, but I cant say those are the best roms, they all are pretty good. You will just have to try them and see what your mother likes best.
No freezing problems here, although it does bug out on me with random pressings of the back key. Sometimes the phone will enter screen capture mode and take a screen shot every time I try to power it down. Removing the screencapture apk solves this.
Overall it has been a good phone and has served me well. Gotta love that Samsung display!
I havent had this device for that long, but I love it compared to by old Droid X, mostly due to nicer screen, better battery life, and easier hack-ability.
That being said, I personally am curious on what has been done, if anything, to the LG.
Has it been rooted?
Are you running aftermarket software?
Some freezing issues can be solved by changing ram parameters, others by getting rid of certain bad apps.
I personally would like to see if your problems are actually solvable before getting a new and unfamiliar device, just for S&G's of course
It is rooted, and even after messing with the ram settings tweaked it still freezes. The other problem is that it dies way quickly, even with JuiceDefender and a calibrated battery. She's only had it for a week, so she's not yet settled on that one's ways.

I'm also a fan of SuperClean. Great rom, with none of the AOSP issues that I find to be annoying enough to avoid. If you want to tweak it a bit, add KGB kernel and maybe a different launcher (I like OMFGB-Launcher) and Rom Toolbox will handle just about everything else. This is my setup, no major tweaks (lag fix, etc) other than zram and 1.2 gHz overclock. Fast and stable.
Help a noob out? I have a virgin DX2 - never rooted - freshly updated to 2.3.5 (was in the soak) - and I'm finally ready to root it and try out a ROM. I've been lurking here for a week or so reading & trying to learn all I can about the process - and I think I'm ready to give it a shot.
Obviously Step 1 is to SBF back to 2.3.4 so I can get rooted, but after that is where I'm running into some indecision. I can't decide if I want to go straight to CM7 from there - or follow the instructions to keep root, SBF back to 2.3.5 and install Eclipse 2.2.
I know both ROMs have their loyal followers and I'm sure either would be a big improvement over stock Blur... and I know it's easy enough to try BOTH of them once I get the hang of all this... but I'd still appreciate some advice about which to try first.
For those of you who've tried both, which do you prefer? What are the pros & cons of each?
Thanks!

Seems to center around Eclipse and CM7 mostly. Eclipse can be a bit more polished in my estimation, mostly due to HDMI, FM radio, less buggy, you know, all the bells and whistles working. For the most part, either way you go you'll be fine.
Currently I have myself and my wife on CM7, we both like it. No real issues to speak of.
I personally perfer CM7RC1 its a solid daily driver very minor issues and I never get bored with it. Here's my overview of both ROMs.
CM7RC1
Pros:
Extremely Smooth.
Lots Of Mods/Tweaks.
Endless Customization.
Gingerbread 2.37
Theme Engine.
Wifi Tethering
Fully AOSP.
Toggles.
Cons:
HDMI Mirroring Is Unsupported.
FM Radio Is Unsupported.
Bugs:
Data Triangle. (Fixed By Reboot, *228)
Battery Exclamation. (Fixed By Reboot)
Some Experience Wifi Connecting Issues. (Fixed By Manual Connect)
Eclipse 2.2
Very Smooth.
Few Mods/Tweaks.
Limited Customization.
Gingerbread 2.35.
Flashable Themes.
AOSP/BLUR Hybrid.
Toggles.
Cons:
Lack Of Customization.
Is Only Gingerbread 2.35.
No Tethering.
Bugs:
Some Experience Wifi Resetting. (No Fix ATM)

I have tried out every x2 rom under the sun and as of right now I think your best bet is cm7. I would recommend running the cm7 mash up script, along with the dual core script, because with both of these the res is flawless.
but of course, I think you should try both of them out because it is personal preference. And if we get cm9 here soon then we will all be happy little cracked out, flashed up, ics'd whores with everything we can dream of for the x2, with some extra feta cheese.

This is a fair evaluation of both ROMs but really it all boils down to personal preference and things like if you need HDMI and stuff like that...I personally never use HDMI or the FM radio...but still liked eclipse and that's what I have on my wife's phone albeit its 2.1...I am sure when CM9 comes out she will like to try it...in short flash them both run them for a week or so and see which one you like and go from there

Just a caution on CM7; I haven't tried the latest release but on the first release the camcorder continuous auto-focus didn't function. It seemed to focus once when you press the shutter button and remain fixed, and sometimes that focus was in error itself. Not a lot of people seem to care about that but my phone has the heavy responsibility of archiving my sons' most important memories for them to look back on when they are older, so I just went back to stock rom. Other than that, CM7 seemed great.
I use CM7RC1 Dual Core Script, Build Prop Mashup, 8 Touch Point Mod, Cron Scheduler, Beats Audio, 3 CDMA Mods. My phone is blazing fast!
Sent from my MB870 using xda premium
In my experience the beats audio hack ruined my sound quality. Also the dual core script......Our 2nd core boots up automatically when there's a demand for more memory. Dragonzkiller even stated this is the dual core script thread. Keeping both on at all times pretty much only drains your battery faster. Only difference I noticed with it was the home screen animations were a little snappier. Wasn't enough change in performance for the lack of battery IMHO. Just a few things if you go the CM7 route. Never tried Eclipse so I can't help you there.
Sent from my stupid smartphone
Why do these keep popping up...the search bar is definitely not be used...
Anyways...Eclipse is literally a hair slower than cm7 but it is worlds more stable. Wifi on Eclipse far better than cm7's. Cm7 has some SU issues but they can be fixed by installing Super SU from the market and getting rid of the normal SU app.
Tethering is easier on cm7 is strong -- heat is something you'll have to worry about. I've tethered on Eclipse through the use of a Market app so a little more work must be done there.
Downside to Eclipse is that you must go to 2.3.5 to use it whereas Cm7 is 2.3.4. Battery life on Eclipse is better for me. I've had serious computer trouble this past month and have had to do some research for papers on my phone! With the brightness on full, Gmusic/Pandora/power amp going and internet on my battery would last ~6-9 hours.
I should also mention that I have the Second Core Script going and my battery life took a very small. Not backbreaking but noticeable.
Not going to lie ; your phone will heat up slightly more regardless of the rom you're on when you use the script
Personally I enjoy Eclipse much more than cm7. Blue is my favorite color
Come over to the dark side...
Hmm haven't ran into any sound issues yet. As far as the dual core script I understand the core will activate on demand. The thing is this only happens when the CPU becomes so over tasked by processes it create a short lag before kicking in. This script makes that laggy transition disappear. I would only recommend this script for people with the extended battery like me tho.

Obviously, lol... no "lag" or time needed to boot because its already always on...
Did you use the script editor in ROM toolbox to apply it, sealedfate? If so do you check apply on boot, or do you only use it when you see fit?

If you have a X2 now I would say you have to try them both. Run one for a couple of weeks do a nano back up and then try the other for a couple of weeks. Then you can decide which you like better. Or you can do like I did and just keep going back and forth every few weeks because you love them both
I have the script in system/ect/init.d so it applies on boot. Helps a hell of a lot with 3D games.

Actually, like I said in my first post, I'm been doing nothing but searching and reading on here for the past week or so. Eclipse 2.2 just dropped a week ago, so I was looking for fresh opinions from people who had tried CM7 and that version specifically.
I appreciate all the helpful comments from everyone though. I think I'll do like a few of you suggested and try them both eventually... starting with CM7.
Hopefully we can all add CM9 to the list of ROMs to try very soon!

Yep! I've been following his Twitter feed and the "CM9DX2 anticipation" thread on here. Can't wait to see how it goes. Sounds like he's REAL close!
Success! Following Moon Shadow's instructions to the letter, I successfully SBF'd back to 2.3.4, rooted, and installed CM7 without any problems whatsoever. CM7 is up and running! Just need to get my apps reinstalled and I'll be good to go. Man... you guys weren't kidding. The phone is SOOOO much faster/smoother now, it's not even funny. Should have done this a long time ago.
Thanks everyone!
OK, it appears that I spoke too soon. I realized soon after that the Google apps did not get loaded on my phone (Gmail, Maps, Nav, YouTube, etc.), but some of the other apps in that same ZIP file DID get installed (Talk). Also, my old background pic was still on the phone.
I was able to download/install the missing Google apps without any problem and they all work perfectly (including Nav from the car dock) - and everything else has been running flawlessly. The phone is very fast & smooth... no bugs... not a single force close or reboot yet after fairly heavy use for the last couple of days.
So... obviously something didn't go perfectly with my install, but as far as I can tell, everything is fine with the phone. How can I tell if I'm missing anything else? Should I just keep what I have or SBF back to 2.3.4 and start over again? I'm perfectly happy with it right now - but maybe I don't know what I'm missing.

Not sure how anyone might be able to tell you what you might be missing on your phone. It is pretty basic what you get, not a lot of bells and whistles put in by default.
Not aware of a comprehensive list of what you should have exactly.

ok so first of all, HI
secondly, my GF's DX2, currently 2.3.5 and rooted, is a mess. serious lag issues, so much so that its fast approaching the "chuck it through a brick wall" threshold. i've got very little (but some) experience installing custom roms and such on my xperia play, about two weeks experience actually, not a lot but ive been very successful with it as i follow directions very closely and am comfortable trying new things but not reckless about it. especially when its not MY phone.
ive been reading up in this forum for a few days now and wanted to see if i can get someone to tell me the pros and cons of my options and suggest any further modifications i can make to remove her phone from her "Things that cause me stress" list. my GF is a bit of a minimalist and doesnt want 10k apps on her phone and has no use for the vast majority of stuff that comes preinstalled on the stock ROM. however, since im the techie type and any time something isnt working right she comes to me to figure it out, i need to have some tools that i can use to fix whatever problems she has as well as "pretty it up" a bit.
as such i am considering installing one of the following and yes, i realize ill have to SBF to 2.3.4 before doing so:
Eclipse Barebones 1.3 final
or
Molten 2.3 final
but these are just my initial thoughts, if anyone has any insight i will happily consider alternatives. i dont much care what all i have to do in the short term as long as it makes her phone is a happy camper, but this is also something i want to do like, once, and maybe again next year or something. im not looking for frequent updates or whatever (which is why i chose the "final" options) just something that is stable and non-irritating.
as for a tool for me i was considering the ROM Toolbox by jrummy(i think), i have it on my phone and love it, but im not 100% that it would be a good choice for the DX2 or if it would even be necessary considering the roms i intend to install. any and all input/alternatives are appreciated.
MIght want to narrow down what the specific issues you are concerned about might be since no ROM or OTA is perfect.
SBF to 2.3.4 then root and flash CM7. Let it rock. All the features of ROM manager are not X2 friendly and I would avoid it if possible. CM7 comes with it and DZK says do not use it.
That's what is on my old X2 and my bride uses is everyday.

mainly we just need the phone, texting, the camera, and the ability to play a few minor games like spades and some toddler games for my 2 year old. as it stands when you open the camera it lags for like 30 seconds before opening and then has trouble focusing at best, and locks up or reboots at worst.i would suspect some kind of hardware issue but we just got the thing a month or so ago and its been like this since about the 2nd day.

i though CM7 was one of those that had a ton of stuff that came with it and is something that needs updated frequently? if im mistaken then awesome. as for ROM manager, im glad i asked before using it then. thanks any alternatives to the other aspects of ROM Toolbox?
thanks for the replies
I have tried several of the ROMs and have had the best luck with CM7 on the X2. My bride isn't exactly technologically savy. It has had the very least of troubles for her and very rarely needs a battery pull or tweaking.
I just loaded 3 of Zepplinrocks scripts on it for her. Its running like a top and hasn't missed a beat.
I ran CM9 when I had it and loved it. But I have no worries with CM7.
As for a substitute for ROM toolbox, just let it ride how it is. If you just want to tinker with it, run the scripts a briefly mentioned above. Let me know if you need the links.

sweet. will give it a shot.
I strongly suggest Eclipse 2.2.1. If she wants something that works and works well, and you don't want to have to worry about applying additional patches to make sure things are stable, well then this would deff. be the one to go with.
GL and let us know how it goes.

eclipse 2.2.1 and v6 supercharger

well alrighty then. since i dont have to downgrade to do eclipse i guess i can give that a shot first and see how it goes. if that doesnt suffice ill give CM7 a shot and go from there.
thanks all
Keep us updated. Interested to see how things work out.
so far so good. eclipse is installed, v6 supercharger is installed(though as far as correctly configured ive no real idea) and was very snappy... right up until she decided to install scramble with friends. so i did some googling and found this
"Game - Scramble With Friends (Zynga) - it has a really annoying memory leak, but it's fun to play. Unfortunately due to very poor coding it frequently freezes my phone."
so i scratch my head and look at her app management page. sure enough scramble is using 130 MB of ram, FAR more than anything else. well hell. it seems ive found the culprit and that ive done an awful lot of unnecessary work with ROMs and tweaks and other various annoyances all with very little, if any, positive results aside from eclipse being very attractive. one thing i dont quite understand though... i have scramble on my phone and it doesnt cause me this kind of headache. any thoughts?

What phone do you have? As with all hardware in the device world no two makes and models handle things the same including but not limited to hardware it's self. So if you are running a different device that can explain it. Also in theroy the SD card that is her phone could come into play, by this it would have to do with the class of card. Class 4 is the typical card you buy from say Walmart and alike where as say class 10 would be a better performance. Again the SD card coming into play is only in THEORY.
GL, and let us know.

i have an xperia play r800x 2.3.3 loaded with DarkForest 3.05.
the SDcards we have are identical 8GB cards. i got a buy one get one free deal on newegg. anyway, she's been using eclipse for a lil bit now and seems very happy with it. only thing is that she has to force stop scramble when she's finished playing or it slowly begins to eat all of her ram. other than that all is good. battery life is almost double what it was before, everything is snappy(as long as scramble isnt running) and life is good.

Stairway to Seven baby! that front line is gonna be much better this year. no more ankle biting ratbirds.
The latest version of eclipse is very good. Rock solid performance, good battery life. If you are already running eclipse then you should be able to easily flash the latest version 2.3

I installed CM10 on my Droid X2 and I just couldn't get past the screen sensitivity -- everything was jumpy to the point where the phone wasn't usable. Is this something others have noticed, too? Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity?

Yeah, way too sensitive. Damn, maybe it's just my Droid X2. I'd scroll up an down and it was just super sensitive, moving up and down at the slightest touch.
- Sung
Also -- the screen seemed to flicker way more. I think some of it was intentional (the screen dimming and brightening). As much as I liked the look, I went back to CM7.
I haven't noticed any screen flicker, or too sensitive touch
It has seemed less sensitive, to me
You are not the only one. Had same thing on my DX2. It happened 4-5 times.
I just kept trying to get "power off / reboot" screen and reboot. After reboot everything was good.
Also had faster battery drain, purchased a 3600mAh and it would almost last 10 hours on CM10.
Two days ago went back to CM7, battery will last 14-16 hours with same usage.
Going to wait for next CM10 release to try again.

You guys need to understand that this ROM will never be perfect. Even the next update will have issues.
Understand, also understand ANY ROM can have issues, including Vz ROMs.
It's about what works for each person, in this case I am waiting for the next release, please don't get defensive because we had issues. They happened, no big deal, we have made decisions to move back to CM7.
I happen to think DZK has done a great job with CM10 and I will be moving back.

Oh I'm not being defensive. Sorry to come off that way. I just see that you guys are newcomers to the forums. A lot of newcomers have been posting about issues not understanding that our Droid X2 is not like other phones that get custom ROMs. Our CM10 is not really complete and most likely never will be because motorola hates us and doesnt want to unlock our bootloaders. If you guys are new to the DX2, I didnt want you expecting a full featured bugless ROM like, lets say the Galaxy Nexus would get. Even though its CM10, we are running it on a Gingerbread Kernel which will always cause issues. That, along with not being able to change or update the drivers doesnt help. Thats why I said even the next update will most likely have the same issues. Most of us just chose to deal with them.

I wasn't aware of the Motorola situation when I purchased the DX2, but quickly found out. I came from the Samsung world (Fascinate) as my last device and it seemed custom ROM's were very easy. With the DX2 it has been anything but easy. But for now really happy with the device overall and the CM10 ROM will make it great. The primary reason for my move back to CM7 was a call issue that seems to be well documented. If it isn't corrected with the new version of CM10 I will make adjustments and stick with it. Also the DX2 community here on XDA is great.
I haven't had the any call issues, but I make/receive very few calls
mostly texts and emails

Hey there -- just wanted to also say that I hope I wasn't coming off as a complainer (which probably meant I was!). I'm totally and absolutely grateful for all of dragonkiller's work on porting CM. I HATED my Droid X2 with BLUR -- and it has been a great joy to use since I switched to CM7.2.
I do wonder, though, that Jellybean requires a more powerful processor? CM10, outside of the sensitivity issue, felt slower in every way. I just may keep CM7.2 on this phone forever -- it's just a great ROM.
If JB felt slower to you then something is wrong. Did you install it from a clean 2.3.4 SBF?

Actually upgraded from CM7 to CM10 first time. Since moving back to CM7, I did an SBF with a clean install of CM10 and things are MUCH BETTER. Not going back at this point. This is only day two, but things are good. I did figure out that when I installed an app that CM10 did not like the screen started acting strange, but getting rid of the app and rebooting solved the issue.
I did end up with one strange problem, still working on it. I used Titanium to restore most of my apps, but wanted to do a clean install on Flash Player. So went in found the apk from my file mgr, selected "install", went to what I call the Android Install screen with two buttons at the bottom (Cancel & Install), tried to select the Install, nothing happened. I do have "Unknown Sources" checked in Security. I have tried other apk's just to test and none seem to work. Tried to move the apk's to the SD0 card, and that had no effect either. The strange thing, I had Flash Player working before going back to CM7.
