To a certain point it's ok... You just don't want to modify something that will trigger a security error.
What are you wanting to do, as far as mod?
Have you seen the CM9 for locked bootloader?
It's a step towards building a ROM for locked bootloader.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2684856
He is aware of the limitations of the bootloader guys, he's referring to building a ROM that doesn't conflict with the 2nd-init and such, like the locked CM9 we have from Pollos. He's probably interested in learning how to port CM10/11, I myself wouldn't mind taking a look at that information either.
Not exactly but that gives us an Idea to work towards...since I don't run Ubuntu it will be difficult but the Cyano website does give some info on how to build a "build" for a certain phone....but how to undo lg security error for it is another problem

Guess what? I'm trying to get Ubuntu to work because there is a all-in-one cyanogenmod compiler!! Wouldn't it be great if it could just make one!

No sure what your setup is or if your actually running or dual booting a Ubuntu machine but you might want to check out BuildUntu.. It's a preconfigured VM system all ready to build and compile.

Well I'm not sure if by "Guys" you are referring to me, But if you read My post... You are basically only reiterating what I have already posted. Although we do appreciate you speaking for the OP on his behalf.
Obviously anyone here with knowledge of the L9 devices are completely aware of the limitations of the locked and encrypted bootloader. It's perfectly clear that he is wanting to build a ROM that doesn't conflict with the 2nd-init, what would the point be otherwise. This is why I mentioned the CM9 for locked and unlocked bootloaders, is a good reference and starting point in attempting to building other ROMs for L9's with locked bootloaders.
It's also no good to assume whether or not someone is familiar with or aware of crucial information... This will undoubtedly get a fellow member into trouble or brick their device.
Another thing that might be worth looking into is trying to intercept the stock kernel's call for the pre-hardware file/chargemon and then have it instead call on the custom rom. optimumpro has already said and is willing to help with this.... Although he needs a CM10 ROM, not 10.1 or higher to begin working on it. If we could build one or maybe use the CM9 to figure out how to achieve this, it maybe worth looking into.
Well I'm dual booting BUT its kinda slow...and WiFi doesn't show up in 13.10 might have to boot back up to win7 and uninstall ubun
From my deathly uncustomized Lg Optimus L9
Also, is the Ubuntu you say is good for all PCs? Mine is pretty fugly and can't run much....I'm just good enough to sqeeeze out its resources for things(trying hard not to show off) I wanted this because there was an easy tool that can build a "build" for a phone all by itself...just need to type some info and its off by itself

Lol, just did second post
Battery life is great, got 3 hours and a half sot yesterday. Currently 1 hour and a half sot at 68%, really digging this rom so far!
This package is for device: g3, d852; this device is d852g
Still getting the same error, still not a d852g
I am admittedly shocked I haven't gotten the update yet. My wife got her update on her galaxy S5 about a week ago. I'm holding the mobile phone of the year abd I'm still waiting...what gives?
Sent from my Verizon LG G3 sexiness via tapatalk
It hasn't even been released or announced yet for that matter...
Everyone is waiting. However, Skydragon and Jasmine roms are available if you can't wait. They used the leaked LP builds and patched them to fix the crap Verizon is apparently still unable to figure out (otherwise they would have released by now).
I'm in the same boat. been lurking this forum to see if anyone got official OTA, disappointing...
Was running JasmineROM but switched to SkyDragon as I'm a huge fan of the developer. This rom legit has NO lag. I'm hoping battery life is gonna be a win too.
A few have gotten it, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't just me lol.

Based on what has been released unofficially (23a and 23b), these are not "ready for prime time" use per the other threads.
No official announcement has been made as to when it will be released. Going to the official LG web site, you will see that currently, 12b is the latest official release.
Go here to see what the latest official release is:
http://www.lg.com/us/support/product-help/CT10000003-CT10000027-1414534794596
It tells you 12b is the latest release. So, not sure why you think the "few" who have received and update have received and official version because they haven't.
In both cases, it appears what they have received are possible private soak tests and for some reason, they got it pushed to their phone.
I believe in both cases, those were replacement phones. Could be those were refurbished phones that possibly registered to receive soak tests? I know when I had Motorola phones, I could register my phone (by IMEI number) and I could receive soak test builds. That might be what happened here in those two cases, but I don't know how LG does their private testing.
In any case, 12b is the only official latest build. 23a and 23b are NOT official builds. So, until we hear an announcement that LG/Verizon are ready to release the LP build, 12b is it for official.
And probably a good reason that they haven't released something yet. too many unresolved bugs I would suppose. At this point with the G4 on the horizon soon, I wish LG would push the 5.1 version and let verizon release that for the G3. Seems too many bugs on what has come so far.

I didn't detect any malice in his post. He was stating facts to quickly put to rest the question of if there's a "real" Lollipop release for the G3 that is pushing out. Best to put questions like that to rest as quickly as possible rather than let them drag out over weeks of "me too" posts.

as i read, the g3's hardware dos not support the new features from g4's camera, like manual control. I've tried some ported camera apps from g4 to g3 but i've got just a new font in the UI. the manual control is extra-buggy an you risk damaging your aperture mechanism trying in manual mode.
That is why we have apps like Xcam found on XDA. It gives you some manual mode setting in the paid version!

I liked the revamped interface into the G4 plus other improvements, I would love to have that in my g3 vs985.
Anyone have a rom with these characteristics?
Information, please!
Just got my hands on an LG G5 RS988 (unlocked) and found there is a verified method to root it. Unfortunately, there don't seem to be any custom roms available for it at this time? Such a shame, as other versions of this same phone have plenty. Since the rooting method was posted all the way back around the beginning of April, I wonder if it's ever going to get any love. Anyone know if I should abandon all hope or if there might be some new developments?

Well, everything looked good until I noticed that the roms were all marked as being for the H850, and I have an H820. Are they interchangeable? I searched for the H820 and got no results.
No they're not interchangeable.
Also, FWIW, RS988 is not a new model, it was released last year as well.
