Linux will detect it with the lsusb terminal command
It will work for 2.09. I bricked my phone on 2.09 and used this successfully on Ubuntu.

I had a similar problem. Phone wouldn't power or respond. I pulled the cover off and pulled the sd card. I then rebooted. I plugged into usb and the racun raided the fridge and all was good. I did restart the process and it picked up where it had stopped. Hopefully you get lucky and that works for you.

If you follow the directions literally word for word you will get everything working. I did the same thing when I rooted my wife's LTE, ended up dual booting with the linux and followed word for word and got hers working again. Then ran through with root process again, word for word and got it to s off. I'm also running windows 7 ultimate x64

Did it on _two_ DNAs with 2.07 in the last couple of weeks. The first one took some learning (turned out had to disable anti-virus in Win7), then it's a piece of cake.

Moonshine works fine on windows 8 with 2.07 just make sure adb/fastboot are up and running properly (open sdk manager and take any updates) factory reset from within stock Rom. then dl moonshine, unzip it (right click extract all) then run distiller from within the extracted folder.

Also yes disable any antivirus you currently have running. thatll cause problems with distiller. Make sure you recheck usb debugging after factory reseting. And you know how to make sure adb/fastboot are running properly I assume? Also HTCsync needs to be UNINSTALLED from your comp.. I had to install it for it to install the HTCdna drivers then uninstall HTC syncmanager..

Both of us have had rooted rezounds for about 2 years (both s-off), keep getting "can't find a seat", install device and drivers", and "critical error" messages while trying juopunut (however you spell it) s-off. Have installed: HTC sync, adb manager (SDK blah blah blah), and all the "all in one tools" I can find. Going crazy. Currently unlocked bootloader, AmonRa, and installed super Su. Phone is stock as hell and still on gingerbread (scared to update to ics through verizon ota update cause i dont trust verizon or their firmware. I am totally lost. Please help.

refer to my s-off guide here in the rezound q&a forums...the windows version.which im assuming your trying to use was ONLY meant for ICS and was removed because the windows version hard bricked one too many devices
Edit: as you are on gingerbread that too was produced by verizon and htc....same as pure stock ics....you can also get a non verizon sense based ics rom on here which runs much better than verizons gingerbread or ics
You think it would be easier to s-off with or without taking the OTA update?

You don't really have a choice here... You have Amon Ra (a custom recovery) so even if you take the OTA it won't install, OTA updates require a stock recovery.
The Windows S-OFF method will only work with ICS (there was no GB version), so you could install the 3.14.605.12 RUU first (this will give you a stable ICS version installed), but with the messages you are getting it sounds like you have a driver or USB issue, or perhaps Fastboot enabled (not the same as fastboot from the bootloader) or USB Debugging not turned on.
Be very cautious with the Windows ControlBear, @REV3NT3CH is correct, it was removed because it bricked a lot of phones, it was never stable... it works for most people, but there are circumstances that if put together correctly will brick you device permanently. You could try the Linux method, it is the only official way and there is a GB version on http://unlimited.io/juopunutbear.htm that will work with your device.
TBH, I'd not even bother. I'd look into seeing why ADB/Fastboot doesn't work right. First I'd uninstall HTC Sync (should have been called HTC Stync LOL).

Okay, well, here is where I get confused. When I s-off'd 2 years ago it was on gingerbread and I still have the old juopunutbear program so in theory everything should be the same. To my knowledge, I can't figure out a way to toggle debugging on GB. Oh, can anyone link me to (literally) from start to finish, every single download I will need to successfully s-off given the specs that I've provided that I'm working with? I would appreciate it more than you know because I must be doing something wrong. Thanks!!

Would it be okay if I were to dualboot a Linux image on my Windows PC to perform S-OFF? There wouldn't be any command errors or extra precautions, right?

yes its ok to dualboot...thats my setup and works fine...i suggest using 32 bit version of linux as that is what is recommended....my guide on here gives perfect step by step instructions for it
I think(needs clarification) you have to fastboot flash boot.img, boot back into rom and try again.

try a different wire....ive seen a few rezounds where its gotten stuck on jpbear arrow screen and renders it permanently BRICKED
Edit: again this only happens on windows....should of followed my guide bud
I will be honest, I have used the Windows utility every time, it hasn't failed me yet, once I have gotten to that point and the wire trick failed, it should continue to prompt you to do the trick or tell you what to do... Just run ControlBear again, it should take you to the point where you do the wire trick again, if not, look at the ControlBear Troubleshooting page on unlimited.io

Actually, you are almost there... if you are stuck in Fastboot, try this from step #2, remember you are in Windows, so you might have to copy files into and issue the commands from the appropriate directory instead of using "sudo":
There are three ways to recover your ROM. Try each one in until you succeed:
Open the cmd prompt that is located in your ControlBear folder where you unzipped all of the files.
Type the following cmds into the cmd prompt.
1. ControlBear -r (This is run with the phone at the JuopunutBear/Arrow screen) If this succeeds recovery is complete otherwise continue to Step 2.
2. ControlBear -f (This is run with the phone at the fastboot screen). If this succeeds you're done otherwise continue to Step 3.
3. fastboot flash boot boot_backup.img
4. fastboot flash recovery recovery_backup.img (This is done with the phone in fastboot mode) If this succeeds continue to Step 5.
5. Boot the phone to android and install busybox from the market if not already installed.
6. sudo ./adb push sdcard.img /data/local/tmp/
7. sudo ./adb shell
8. $ su
9. # busybox dd if=/data/local/tmp/sdcard.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk1 conv=notrunc
10. Reboot the phone.

Hey all, I'm trying to help a friend. He has Beanstalk installed with the partitions. Things have been working great. Today the phone rebooted and went to recovery, asking for a password. I'm assuming it thinks things are encrypted or something. The SD card reads fine on a computer. It will not format anything as nothing is mounted. I tried a factory reset from the boot loader menu and it just freezes the phone.
I've looked around and can't seem to find anyone with the same problem.

I've tried the latest RUU and when it starts the process, and get's to waiting for Bootloader the phone shuts down (from bootloader/fastboot usb), and does not turn back on, then the program errors out.
I also tried ViperRUU and when it gets to preparing the phone shuts down and nothing happens.
I also tried renaming the rom.zip folder in the ViperRUU to PJ75IMG.zip and placing it on the sd card but it says no or wrong image.

Trying it on my Windows 7 laptop, got the same problem. I installed latest htc sync, rebooted. Ran the RUU installer, go through all the menus and to the point where it is going to install. It says "Checking", then goes to "Rebooting Bootloader", this is where the phone shuts off. I can get the phone back into bootloader has it is waiting for bootloader before it errors. But then it eventually errors out with error 171 usb connection error. This is the stock usb cable btw

Did you open HTC sync and connect your phone? This sometimes installs additional drivers.

I root the rom files from the RUU (rom_1 and rom_2) and renamed them PJ75IMG.zip and placed them on the SD card (one at a time). I tried the larger sized one which shows it will update the bootloader, splash1, sbl2, sbl3, trust_zone, rpm, adsp, pgfs_spcustom, wcnss, tp, sbl1, recovery, radio_v2, radio_cust.
As soon as I hit volume up it goes to bootloader - updating...then just stays there endlessly. I can remove the sd card and it does nothing. Phone is frozen there. I have to hold power and then get back to bootloader and nothing has changed.
Both files I got from the RUU doe that.

Unfortunately, I'm out of ideas at the moment.
One last thing to try. Hit the top link in my sig and go to the RUU downloads and try the 3.17 RUU on Windows 7. You can also try the alternative PJ75IMG method, as well. If you use the PJ75IMG method make sure the file is named PJ75IMG.zip with no extra .zip extension on the end (Windows automatically hides extensions, so check it and make sure), and make sure the file is on the root of your external SD card and not in any folders. If this doesn't work, and you feel comfortable doing it, send me the phone and I'll take a look at it.

Sent from my HTC6435LVW using XDA Free mobile app
If you can get your hands on a Windows 7 machine that's the best way to get your phone soff. I don't think anyone has really used Windows 8.1 as it and our DNA don't get along unless you do something with the drivers. I remember there was a thread talking about Windows 8 and the DNA a while ago. Try searching but I'm not sure if they ever solved it.
In terms of disabling the lock screen it's no longer an option in sense. However if you download the app called no lock in the app store it will get rid of your lock screen.
Hope this is somewhat helpful.

Firewater will not work without a root of some kind. I tried the temproot they provided and no luck, doesn't work. So untill we get a bootloader unlock/root method we won't know if firewater can successfully get us S-off.

The temp root doesn't really work anymore on Verizon devices.
You need to run weaksauce for temp root, then use Firewater.
I'm already s-off so I can't confirm if it works or not but it worked on the latest m7vzw update and m8vzw update.

Which Wifi Tether app were you trying? This one: https://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/ or another?? Because I'm not upgrading until I know there's one that works. I used Moonshine to gain S-Off and then rooted on 3.06 with TWRP.
