I am surprised to see that there aren't any active ROM development happening for our beloved MOTO E! Don't know why developers deserted this phone. Motorola managed to sell at least 3,00,000 Moto E's in Indian market and soled considerable number in Europe as well. But still why there aren't any active ROM development happening? We need more devs to come and fire up the ROM development. Devs are you listening?
Its somebody's personal choice for which device they want to develop ROMs,kernels, you can't ask them
... or, if there's a developer who's done amazing work for other moto device (like moto g) is ready to develop for Moto E, but does not have a device.
We can start a donation drive to get him/her a device, so that we can get development started.

He'd be ideal, but I think he's got his hands full with X and G.
Can you try messaging him and see if he's interested?
I'll look for someone else who I know from other device communities.

Earlier, I have used pantech Burst where there was 04 dedicated developers & contributors of 06 for cm & slim rom step by step development without dedicated thread in XDA. Here, after around 03 months with dedicated thread, could not see till date any developer using moto e or involved with step by step development with source openly available for compilation/ modification in github.

A developer may be busy with life (it's important as well) or may be going thru other issues. Probably, that's why there are no updates. We surely dont' want to lose whatever developers we have, by asking for ETAs and updates.

What kind of stuff are you looking for? I've been adding Halo to ParanoidAndroid and building for Moto X and Nexus 5, and I recently posted a guide on cherry-picking features. I've also spent a lot of time teaching anyone who's come to me for help with their own development related questions.
I'd be happy to help develop for your models, but I don't own any myself.

Hi Jabza,
Thanks for the Reply. Our first priority as of now is to provide quick upgrades to KITKAT and which ever update google comes out with and be the first one to do so. Secondly we want to add more features requested by users.every week. so we want to make it a user developed Android experience. We also want to dabble with fingerprint unlock, and the recent features added with the IOS 8.

Thats ok. Its just that we wont be able to meet. If you are interest maybe we can have a little chat on skype or gtalk.
I would love to have you onboard . And hopefully others from open source community at XDA. We are an indian company but we can surely work something out with you .
Can you email me at [email protected]. with your skype or gtalk id. We can have a chat and take things from there yes ?
Wait so youre an actual company....producer of devices like Wickedleak Wammy Passion X? So really you'd be profiting off xda users that possibly join your team....or are you planing on hiring said users?

Hi,
Your project seems interesting and I'd love to be a part of it.. I've posted a couple of tutorials on building kernel, roms and have built kitkat from source for the mt6589.
Regards.
Will you also share the framework sources with community ?
The by far most annoying issue with MTK sources is that it's almost exclusively kernels, with no framework source code.
P.S.:
I considered buying Faea when they promised source codes and Cyanogen, but so far they have not delivered
If you do share sources, I will definitely buy a phone of yours (and do my best to make you noticed by the Russian MTK enthusiast community)
Hey folks,
Do you know if there are any developers working on porting Android L Developers Preview to our G2?
It's just that the Nexus 5 and the LG G2 are very similar on hardware, it seems like it's not that complicated.
Thanks.
Please don't move the thread to Q&A, it's less a question and more a discussion.
you already have a thread(s) with this question and it's been answered just a few days ago...

Well, depends on how difficult it is to port it to the G2. If it's difficult and could take a lot of time I agree with you, start developing a ROM would be a waste of time.
But if it's an easy work (as I said earlier, the Nexus 5 and the G2 are similar) then making a ROM that matches the exact one running on the Nexus without any more features, would be very nice and something to play with until the full version comes out. And my guess is that the full L will be close (in the way of how it works) to the preview, so it might help developing later.
I think will be develop L port for our device after will be published official L sources by google

I agree with you. It would be fun to play with. I don't see why it's such a pain to do seeing that the devices are so close in specs.
Giga they are close in specs with chipset and screen but they have lots of differences regarding hardware. Its also hard to port an android version what your phone doesn't have yet and also taking the risk to do it the biggest problems are the kerne i guess. It would be theoritically possible to just flash the android l from the nexus 5 on the g2 and it might boot but its highly risky and things like wifi etc probably don't work and it could cause screen problems like the stripes issue since we don't know yet what it causes to get like that.

First, I want to thank the Developers working on CM 12.1 for this phone. You are very much appreciated.
However, there seems to be no other development for this phone. I am wondering why? It is a very popular model it seems. Boost Mobile seems to sell out of them very quickly and with Sprint and Verizon both having CDMA versions of the phone as well, you'd think there would be a lot more going on for this phone. To my knowledge source was released for 12 if not 12.1. Hoefuly we will begin to see more than just the one [WIP] available.
other than cm12 i don't think there will be much. most people went for the moto g, more bang for the buck .
I think the goal is to get fully functional cm 1st. Most other ROM are build off of a CM device tree, so to get that going 1st makes the most sense.
Try to use moto g build.prop

Hey there I have at least half a dozen to 10 projects going on currently. Shortly I will get the Schok team together and get everything up here on XDA and TG. No mentioning of TG will be allowed on XDA. What happens on TG stays on TG. However I will try my best to mirror everything across everywhere it will be up at which is going to be a lot of places. I just got my Freedom Turbo XL SFT57216 in yesterday. Brand new in box with everything. I was expecting the freedom turbo but turns out my Source sent me the XL. Currently it is bricked and I need to flash our firmware dump to it. My teammate has this Source all I have is the turbo source. I will get the dump from him but I cannot let the kernel source go. Once this project takes off and more people get involved then we can look at getting the kernel source out to more Developers especially recognized ones that want to get involved. Watch your inbox.
Stay tuned people.
ill be ready

The turbo or the turbo XL? Currently I myself only have the XL and I got it inbox with everything. Kind of trying to keep it all together like that. I would check on eBay. More than likely can find something on there.
XL. I rather not buy a whole new one

Hi,
I am wondering if there is a common way on this forum to express support for the development of a specific custom ROM for a phone? Is there a commonly accepted way to do this? (Came here to see if I could +1 a LineageOs thread for the Zenfone 9)

Hey mate,
I was thinking to contact developers and pay them to build lineage OS and make it official!
Or the other alternative is Learn how to build it and submit it for review on LOS website..
If you have any suggestions?
cool, no idea how to go about that, but I would be happy to contribute as well. I'm sure others would be too - I am on a forum where there are multiple threads dedicated to finding a good small deGoogled phone (community.e.foundation). There must be a place where people can put up amounts for a development like this, right? Sort of like a Kickstarter for a bit of development? I will ask on the other forum too

The problem with LineageOS is that when there is no more maintainer for a specific model the phone just goes to rubbish, no more security patch... same for the other custom rom... eOS depends on LOS repositories and even if lineage stop supporting a specific device eOS will keep updating their all supported devices... That's why I really like eOS. It doesn't matter if some features are unavailable... a phone is supposed to be used for call, text. Nowadays, everything seems to be sophisticated however it doesn't need to be... I'll start asking some recognised developers if they are willing to work on a LOS build for the zf9 for some money participation... maybe start a crowdfunding of an alternative without fraud!!
Bump
Hi bro,
Sorry got no time at the moment I ended up using a one plus 6 with eOS... I haven't started anything yet. I might need some help to organise something about crowdfunding..
Good luck and let us know if you have some ideas. Thank's
