As we know, nobody with this phone from american countries can use the gps if they upgrade to gingerbread from european firmware.
The user FMAranda had uploaded a brazilian firmware, wich version is 2.3.4:
http://www.multiupload.com/AUQF5ITOCB But, if we flash this firmware WE CAN'T ROOT THE PHONE.
If you want to solve the gps, the SOD (until now), and root the phone, do this:
-download gingerbread 2.3.4 KPH http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JTRTHJYN
-download brazilian gingerbread
-Flash the phone like this:
boot: KPH
modem: Brazilian
pda: KPH
csc: KPH
The gps works perfectly, no more SOD, and you can root the phone as you do usually from gingerbread 2.3.3
Finally, if you want to use "coderom", you have to flash the phone as the same way as you flash KPH:
boot: coderom
modem: Brazilian
pda: coderom
csc: coderom
@yoyigo07 el gps sigue sin funcionar, pruebalo con el gps status y comenta si te da señal de algun satelite o tambien mira mis post en htc, aii lo explico mejor bueno aclaro .. esto es para telcel mexico
You can root with my ClockworkMod Recovery port and the AceGingerRoot.zip that I've posted on the same thread.
Anyway, the phone only works well for me if I have 3G connections disabled. Including GPS.
3G isn't working only for Entel Chile (frecuency 1900 mhz), works in Claro and Movistar (frecuency 850 mhz)

Thanks, now I know.
I was thinking, if I do this, the languages available will be from the brazilian FW or the european FW? Because there's some differents between the PT-PT and the PT-BR. The european FW has only the PT-PT and the brazilian the PT-BR.
The language is from european firmware, but ilarrain has created a cwm where you can root the phone from brazilian firmware. Then you don't have the create a "hybrid" firmware, at least you want to flash with coderom
So, can I root my phone without flashing the FW again?
I haven't tried, but ilarrain said you could root from brazilian firmware with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138436
I have the coderom with the file modem from brazil
Question
Hi guys, I hope one of you can help on this.
I have installed the villainROM using these instructions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1087522
I am experiencing the same GPS and 3GS (Entel) issues.
What should I do now in order to fix, at least, the gps issue..... possible without having to reinstall
Thanks in advance.
Has anybody from Argentina tested this firmware and found it to work with the local 3G bands (850/1900), i flashed this FW over KPH 2.3.4 but i couldn't get 3G to work on Personal.
BTW, would it be possible to flash Gingerbread but keep the stock (froyo) MODEM firmware ?
thanks for sharing this useful info but I'll wait for some more comments.

Works fine, except if your band is 1900 mhz (for example, Entel Chile)

You can't do nothing with Villain rom.
If you want to fix the gps, you most do what I said in the first post and your gps is going to work, but you will not have 3G because our band (Entel) is 1900 mhz.
New question.

Thank you for the information. Now there is something that I don't understand (sorry if I am posting this information in the wrong place) , what exactly is:
a KPH.
a Coderom.
a Mod.
What's the name of the original firmware.
you mention that you can use coderom.
boot: coderom
modem: Brazilian
pda: coderom
csc: coderom
Thanks,
Thanks to the OP; finally solved my 3G and GPS issues since I flashed over my factory stock Froyo!
Hi, I put the ROM 'S5830LUBKP7_S5830LUBKP7_S5830LUUBKP7_HOME' that's is posted on this page: http://www.chileandroid.com/t2602-android-234-para-galaxy-ace-gt-s5830l-latinoamerica and now I have Gingerbread (2.3.4) in my Galaxy Ace with the 3G of my oeprator (Entel Chile).
Can I use this brazilian modem file with any other Rom code file?

It's Safe dude you can flash any rom on your galaxy, you just need to be sure that you own an GT - i9300
An advice, check what modem ver have your phone, some modems work properly in some areas and others simply don't

The modem version is found on Configuración -- Acerca de -- Versión de Banda Base .. That is the modem..
I'm from Venezuela and I have my S3 on UK firmware without problem. But if you have problem with the signal strength you can find the modem here at XDA and flashing again.
Hi, today finally I decided to update my S3 to the latest JB 4,3 rom, I used Odin 3.07 and the I9300XXUGMK6 update. Everything went fine but after the update was done I am unable to make or receive calls and a "Not registered to the net" appears. My phone is rooted and I can see my IMEI 15 digits when I go to the About tab. Also if the the compilation number JSS15J.19300XXUGNA7
I also have Titanium Backup Pro installed and with backups in Dropbox
I bought my unlocked factory S3 phone from Amazon just two month ago.
What should I do to to fix this problem.
Thanks

Do the imei and serial numbers match those under the battery? Did you flash the right firmware for your country? Did you factory reset afterward? Did you check the md5 of the download?
There are hundreds of similar posts, with no guarantee of a fix -your best hope is a backup of your efs folder.

Hi, well, I am subscribed to Android Advices and the Update was downloaded from a link they sent, and yes the IMEI number is the same under the battery compartment and the state IMEI tab, I did not reset afterwards the phone ( why should I ) and the phone is an international version and the firmaware is the same I heve read is the latest from Samsung, and no I did not check the md5 .
This is the link where I read and downloaded the firmware.
mailbox:///C:/Users/SIEH/AppData/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/puuzm0wo.default/Mail/Local%20Folders/Inbox?number=25053018#2
Titanium said the backups of the system and apps was completed and also I can see the backup files in box but could not tell if the efs folder is in it.
What do you suggest ?
Thanks
I suggest you search and read the guides and sticky threads in the general forum, as you seem to be missing some basic knowledge -or take it to a repair centre and pay them to fix it.

This worked for me....
I did factory reset and wiped everything
Flashed the firmware again with odin: I used this rom dowloaded from Sammobile (I9300XXUGNA7_I9300OJVGNA1)
I then had no Signal. Imei number also changed to the generic number 0466...
Then I flashed modem file with Odin: Modem_i9300XXELLA.tar witch I downloaded from http://www.boeffla-kernel.de/
Then I flashed Kernel with Odin: boeffla-kernel-5.2-beta3-Samsung-i9300.tar witch I also downloaded from same site.
Restarted phone and I have 4.3 running with Signal.... All OK
Just check on http://www.boeffla-kernel.de/ for the correct modem file for your firmware....
Thanks, just a question, does this apply to the international version, does the IMEI remain the same after that ? I am still afraid of doing something wrong as the phone is still working but not making and receiving phone calls.
Regards
Just a thought, can I go back to the original Android OS which the phone was sold, I presume Samsung. Then It could be easy as the only thing to do could be wipe the phone ans install the Android.

My phone is the international version. If you are still on the 4.3 version leave it like that and just flash the modem and kernel using Odin and it should work......
What I also found is when flashing back to 4.1.2 with my XXELLA firmware it also worked again...

Great and thanks, just one question, what or how do I flash the modem, could you suggest a download ? and what Kernel should I flash, I am a novice and may mis understand some procedures. Sorry bothering you but as you say it would be better to stay on 4.3 and try your method.
Just in case it helps I try the emergency call to see if it was working and it does , don´t know if it uses the modem but I was happy just yo hear a voice on the other side.
I am actually living in Venezuela where we are in a turmoil and the phone is a need.

Hi, I downloaded the following samsung version said it was the latest and stable one : I9300XXUGMK6 and the compilation # is JSS15J.I9300XXUGNA7 , and yes I used ODIN following the directions I received from Android Advises : http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/AndroidAdvices/~3/jyCtyACjoz8/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email
Everything went okey and ODIN passed the process but then when I tried to make a call the Not registered to the net appeared, I can use facebook twitter email and everything else, I can call 911 ( New in Venezuela) When I go to the movile networks tab operators I can see all three that exist in Venezuela , I select the one I am suscribed MOVISTAR and it says registered on the net but after that if I try to make a call the "Not registered appears again.
Is there hope I can fix this ? Finally the IMEI is not broken as I have read in other posts and it is the same in the system status and beneath the battery.
Regards and still waiting for my phone to be able to make and receive calls.

Sorry what does efsv2 means ?
I guess you don't have an EFS backup, in the new 4.3 so they changed the way EFS (where your phone stores its IMEI number) its handled, they went from EFSv1 to EFSv2, you get no signal because differences in the band and if you try to go back to ICS o 4.1.2 you'll get an invalid imei and you won't be able to connect to the network (because your EFS is not v1 now, it's v2) / If you didn't back up you're in sort of a problem because you'll have to wait with a patched kernel and modem till samsung does something.
Español:
A mi me salía "Emergency Calls Only" y que Digitel no estaba disponible aún cuando lo seleccionaba.
Para volver a tener señal con 4.3 necesitas:
*Philz Touch (O tu recovery de preferencia)
*SuperSU
*Patched Modem by Zuluman
*Patched Kernel by Zuluman

I think it has got something to do with the EFS folder format version. Android 4.3 is V2 and 4.1.2 is V1
Some phones can read both V1 & V2. Our phones only V1. Don't know what the reason is for that.... It sucks

After I flashed my phone the IMEI looked like this: 004999010640000/01
This means that that the phone can not read the original IMEI. It then gives a generic IMEI 004999010640000/01
This can be fixed with the flashing of the 4.1.2 Modem file. If your IMEI is correct then I am not sure why it is not registering on your network. Could be that you downloaded the wrong update and that this one does not contain the right CSC file for your network....

yea same with what i think.. can u try install 'phone info' from play store? try look at country of origin and manufacturing date, my s3 shown country is korea..my friend's s3 shown from taiwan..date was 2012.7.19 ..
actually, i just bough this phone last week..replacing my s3 blue..because i like the grey color..i bough it second hand, and the owner had flashed 4.3 on it. i cant insert my sim card, not detected.. after try playing with baseband, i got unknown baseband..
finally got the solution use the ics firmware first..i figured out the ics and the baseband unknown solved..
but the emei still not correct..i think that the owner had broken the efs partition without backup..
then i send it to my friend's to flash it with jtag..the problem solved..
but i cannot use the 4.3 modem..
Hey guys, i tried to search for this thru XDA and google but couldnt find anything.
I current have a s6 edge sm-g925I (which i believe is the international firmware) - due to certain Australia laws i guess, certain options have been removed. IE the Call connect tone when dialing out or ending a call. / Shutter sound in camera.
I was wondering are there firmwares out there which have these option are are compatible to install via ODIN without rooting?
Also, what happens if i install a sm-g925F firmware to a sm-g925I phone?

Ronaldo_9 - I did get a Carrier branded S6 Edge and managed to flash a generic International firmware using Odin
This removed any branding from the carrier. However doesnt add specific setting options
1) NO Camera Shutter sound option
2) NO Call connect Tone option
3) NO Alphabetical Sort option in App drawer
These may be due to Australian laws or Samsung having law suits pending due to patents etc.
Not sure - I have found an International firmware which have the above options.
Hope this helps
Thanks for the reply.
Did this void warranty? is it a simple case of flashing any firmware that is for my model SM-G925F?
I have UK vodafone(unlocked) version which is missing wifi calling option that EE network offers. did you have to unlock bootloader and root? I want to keep the phone stock and keep warranty if possible by flashing back original firmware .

Hi, I have a question.
I Have de 925i version, CSC CHO (Chilean Open), but I want to change to another firmware (international). I don't care if I miss some features (wifi calling, etc)
My question:
Can I change the firmware to another with diferent CSC with no problems through Odin?
I have this version G925IDVU1AOE3 and now they released, for example, G925IDVU1BOF7.
If I install this last version, I don't have any problem?

If you root these things can be added with Root Explorer and a Text Editor. You can root without tripping the Knox counter nowadays so I suggest that.
Please don't try to flash any firmware that isn't specifically for the SM-G925I.

I believe they will be for the new firmware, but I'm not 100% positive.
I have a rooted galaxy s2(I9100) with custom rom by @Lysergic Acid (5.1.1) I searched all over xda and internet in general to find a clear statement about modems for romania. My mobile network operator is DIGI. I found a thread where it says that the region is specified in the name of the modem(my region would be xe or xx), but all modems i've seen for galaxy s2 are starting with xx so this information, not so valid. Also I couldn't find information about the latest modems, just some thread from 2 years ago. So if anyone can give me a list (maybe the newest, or the best tested(i cant ask for the best as ther isn't one)) of modems for my region(i don't know if they have to be compatible with the network provider) I would be grateful. Btw, my curent broadband version is : I9100XXLS6
