[Q]How to get a KitKat rom to install? - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

Pac 4.4Beta won't install in TWRP 2.6.1. I get an error message saying that is was unable to mount the boot partition. Is there something else i need to do before i can install this?

I'd suggest you try using TWRP v2.6.3.1 or later.

TWRP 2.6.3.1
Can someone post a download link or a link to the thread for the recovery?

Flashable zip for TWRP v.2.6.3.1 is available at https://www.mediafire.com/folder/xjwc1a482a6ll/Nook_Tablet.
If you'd like to use a later version of TWRP, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49111924&postcount=8 for pointers on how to create a flashable zip for TWRP.

Get an error while trying to flash 4.4.2 roms

Whenever I try to flash cyanogenmod for kitkat to my mega (or any of the other kitkat rom) i get this error.
Error executing updater binary in zip "insert file path"
I'm following the tutorial that google provided but this is always the end result.
Can anyone help me figure out why this issue is happening?
I'm using twrp to do the flashing.
Are you using the TWRP recovery from Silesh.Nair post which is in his signature check this out here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48415648&postcount=5 as you need that TWRP recovery with the kitkat support in order for it to install the rom, just go to the downloads and click on the here link in his signature and download the TWRP from the site as you need this one, and when you flash the TWRP recovery and when done..boot right away back into the recovery otherwise the TWRP recovery will be replaced with the stock one.
You only have to do this once and after that the TWRP recovery will stay. And what model is your mega?

To update emmc /recovery, use SD based recovery to flash a flashable recovery zip that contains the new emmc recovery version -- see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49024436&postcount=105 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49111924&postcount=8.
There is no zip for 2.6.3.1, but I found an app that flashes the recovery for me; this issue is solved.

It's now a moot point as your issue is solved, but you could make a flashable zip for any recovery .img using info at the link I referenced above (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49111924&postcount=8).

[Help][LP 5.1] Needed boot.img for 'stock recovery backup experiment'.

I am going to do an experiment(flashing TWRP.img on boot partition and trying to root.) to backup stock recovery.img of Lollipop 5.1. To do this, I need stock boot.img(Kernel Version: 3.4.42-gccbac57) of system version 23.26.2. If there's someone who rooted system version 23.26.2 then take backup of boot.img using Rashr App(Download from here forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2334554 ) and post that stock boot.img here.
If this experiment succeed then I will post stock recovery.img of lollipop 5.1.
UPDATE: I'm not going to do this experiment because temporary booting of twrp is now working on moto e. We can root device by temporary booting twrp and backup stock recovery.img
isn't there anyone who rooted 23.26.2 ?
I have 23.21.34 version i can give you if you want...

It's simple, you just have to extract the boot.img from any ota zip (suggested the official OTA zip)
Do that and give him then.......it will be very good if he can make the 5.1 stock recovery

First of all, you must clarify who is referred to as 'him'?
Secondly, there is no method(according to me) by which you can make a stock recovery from a stock kernel. There are two files namely the boot.img and the recovery.img.
First one is the kernel and the second one is the recovery.
Use the ones you like.
Him meant the op
I don't know if one can make recovery from boot.img.......The op didn't say that either....He said and i quote "I am going to do an experiment to backup stock recovery.img of Lollipop 5.1. To do this, I need stock boot.img(Kernel Version: 3.4.42-gccbac57) of system "
So i thought by using some process he may be able to back up stock recovery....that is why i said like that
and BTW where are those .img files available @Rohitagni

U can find them in any zipped firmware files. By zipped firmware files, I mean the zips for stock firmware, or the update zips that many XDA users capture here from their rooted phones to help users who haven't received the OTA, enjoy the new OS, simply by sideloading.

I'm not making recovery.img from boot.img. I will use boot.img to make my device functional again because I'm going to flash TWRP.img on boot partition and try to root. If device gets root access then I can backup stock recovery.img because stock recovery.img is not over written in process of rooting.
I hope you succeed.........I try to get it from someone
And no @Rohitagni you can't extract boot.img from uploaded update zips but from full firmware zips, yes which is not available
I just saw in general section someone uploaded twrp backup of stock latest 5.1......I can flash that and give the boot.img tomorrow @EthicalHacker

I am extremely sorry, for misleading you guys! I just found out that the fsg.bin and the gpt.bin (with logo.bin, etc) are the only things that are available in those zips. So yes, @cksup, you are correct. Please provide him with the kernel, so that miracles can happen

We can't dump stock recovery without root access and moto e has only one rooting method which is flashing custom recovery on recovery partition. It means we lose stock recovery when we get root access.
That's why I'm taking risk of above mentioned experiment to backup stock recovery.

This tablet is still quite good. It was such a shame to see what happened to the Cyanogenmod team only to have Lineage OS to drop support.

You can flash it with Odin.
Encryption and ADB don't work
Encryption doesn't work. TWRP doesn't recognize encryption, does not ask for the password to decrypt and therefore returns errors when trying to flash something or wipe cache.
ADB seems to be not implemented, too. I can see other devices booted to TWRP but when trying with my Tab PRO 8.4 List of devices attached stays empty.
I tried flashing tar file to install twrp recovery but I wasn't successful. Is there a link where I can download a tar.md5 file so I can flash it using odin? Thank you!

Obviously there's no tar.md5 file which you can flash with odin. But when you're downloading a specific recovery from twrp, you'll find links for md5 and sha256 checksums with which you can verify if your file has got corrupted. If everything is ok you should be able to flash TWRP. If the latest version don't work, check older versions. For me, this one worked:
