Love Mei EK 2014 Case - Galaxy Note 3 Accessories

Love Mei EK 2014 on Amazon
Has anyone ordered this case yet? It looks amazing. For the price, you really can't go wrong. I own the Zerolemon Case/Ext Battery but I like to have a slim case available as well, for pocket storage. How is the water protection? Is it really all metal? Is your cell reception compromised? Have you dropped it?
If anyone has this case and would care to post pics and comment, I'd be appreciative, as it will be here in 3 days. :fingers-crossed:
Thanks

Tried it for few days.
IMHO, not worth the purchase. It is slimmer than zero lemon case but much wider.
Cell reception isn't affected that much but "water protection" feature for this case is a joke (sealed by tape and glue).
I'd recommend UAG or Spigen case.

After really looking at the product reviews and descriptions, I'd say these are actually knock off's of the Love Mei's...
Glue and tape... good thing I'm not getting it for the waterproofing. I mainly wanted an aluminum body case that looked decent and didn't kill reception. I'll look at those, thanks.
Thanks for your reply.

This case really sucks. I sold to one of my friend since he is so interested. This case is so heavy and your Note 3 will be the size of Tab 7.0. Its non ergonomic to hold. The buttons are not so flexible and like mentioned in previous comments, the ports are covered using tape and glue. Not worth.

7.0"?!
Do either of you guys have a photo you can post? If that is true, that is too freaking big.

Had the case. Caused people who called me to hear there voice echo. Not worth it.

I have the last year love mei and weights a ton so i don't recommend it.
send from my N9005 with tapatalk

I received it and promptly sold it to a coworker. It's huge and heavy, unlike the picture. If they would reduce the size and weight of if, it could possibly be the best looking case of all time, hands down.

Best case?

I just got a GS2 and trying to decide whether or not to get a case. Do you guys suggest getting one for added protection from drops?
EDIT: Ok, clearly a case is necessary, but which one? I have an Otterbox Commuter on my iPhone and dig the feel and durability. I see many complaints about SG2 cases not fitting or not having the right holes. Which is the best case in terms of fit, durability, and feel?
I definitely would. Protects from scratches, marks, and dust. I wouldnt count on it to protect from a normal drop though. I would suggest the Otterbox Commuter (make sure its the ATT i-777 version)
It's a $500+ phone you have. If you're ok with it breaking, then go without a case.
That's not saying it will break. There are plenty of stories about how well this phone does when dropped.
But it's the same reason people wear seat belts. 99% of the time they don't do much. But that 1% when you're in an accident, you're really happy you had it on.
It only takes one bad drop to ruin your phone. And screens for samsung devices are super expensive.

Are you sure that Otterbox makes a case for the AT&T version? I checked around and only found a Commuter for International version.
I have an Otterbox Commuter now for my iPhone and love it.
They just released an att version for the otterbox commuter. I have the international and its fits flawlessly. The top Mic cut out is off but the call quality is still the same. Paid 20 bucks on Amazon for it

I just received this one and it fits flawlessly. They have 2 or 3 different colors. This one is a matte finish on the back and does not show any fingerprints and the TPU material feels great in the hand.

This is going to depend a lot on how you use your phone. I am using the casemate barely there which provides a moderate level of drop protection while maintaining the slim profile and light feel that I really love about the Galaxy phones. But when I need to travel for work I put on the Ballistic case which has huge rubber corners and feels indestructible which is nice when you are moving around a lot and adding a much greater risk of dropping your phone. The otterbox commuter is a decent case, my wife has one on her iPhone 4. It seems to be a nice middle road between something like the "barely there" and the Ballistic.
Did you drop your old phone a lot?

There is a balance between protection and bulk in cases
I don't want a case that inhibits the phone from venting heat. And I don't want one that is too bulky. I've tried a lot of different cases, and this is the one that I like best:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/320771114659
Just don't drop it from too high above a floor that's too hard, and it should protect the phone OK. And at this price you can get a couple of them as spares, since they will crack occasionally.
The other thing about this case is the matte rubberized finish. Helps the phone to stay put in your pocket. It also makes the phone feel much more secure when holding it in your hand.
Here's a list of many of the available i777 cases:
http://www.traemcneely.com/2011/10/...i777-samsung-galaxy-s2-sii-cases-covers-sgs2/
The SGS ballistic case is way too big and the bumpers snag in your pocket. The case mate pop is great as long as you don't mind the shiny back scratching all to hell in two weeks. Also the grey plastic around the edge flakes off really easily. The commuter is smaller than both and likes to draw dust... The thin cases will never completely protect your phone. Always had otterbox, always will keep using otterbox.

TPU cases have a tendency to stretch if you take them on and off too much. I had one for about 2 weeks and it was already feeling loose and I was only taking it on/off about once a day.
And they attract lint like mad. The reason I was taking it off daily was to rinse it off.

35 bucks! Damn. Not any cheaper on Amazon. That's a bit too much for me.
Thanks guys for the tips. I ordered a couple cheap hard TPU cases like some recommended here to see how they are. Perhaps I'll need more protection and look into something else.
I didn't drop my old phone a lot, but I did once in a while drop it from my desk. I don't have insurance on my GS2 so I would like some protection in case it drops since the phone feels fairly fragile.
Can anyone recommend a middle of the line case between thin TPU cases and the Ballistic? I know Otterbox is along those lines but $35 is too much!

maybe the case-mate pop. conflicting reports on whether it has the right holes or not. it also has the built in kickstand

oh, also, the otterbox should come down in price soon, like the intl. GS2 version has.
I have the casemate barely there and the casemate and the casemate full version. Both work great and give flexibility.

The Case-Mate Pop! is the best I've found. It is a hard plastic case that is lined on the inside with rubber for shock absorption. It also has rubber inserts on the outside along each edge. Has a very solid feel with good grip. There is also a fold out stand but I don't really use it that often. Nice feature to have though.
It does add a little to the bulk of the phone but not as much as the Otterbox or other heavy duty cases. I found it a good compromise between size and protection. I think it's well worth it for something that fits perfectly and feels really good in the hand.
All of the holes line up perfectly on this case even it's categorized under the International SII. The noise canceling mike on top is included in the microphone cutaway. No noticeable difference in signal quality or phone call quality.
Sorry, tried to post a link but I'm too new. You can go to Case-Mate's website and look under the Samsung Cases, Samsung Galaxy SII, International version.
I have the Casemate Barely There Aluminum, SGP Linear, and some mesh one I got for $3 on ebay. Out of all of these I prefer the SGP Linear. It completely protects the phone, leaving no edges exposed, feels like quality, and keeps the slim profile of the phone. I had to make a little hole for the noise cancelling mic but that was easy.

Slim Armor is not that good for protection, especially drop protection. It has like no lip.
Uag is awesome and they aren't as bulky as they seem in pics. I've had one for my S3 and S4 and they do protect extremely good against drops.

I had the UAG Scout for my Note 2. It protected my phone perfectly through multiple drops. The case never got scuffed either. It was pretty bulky though. No where near Otterbox Commuter size (which I also owned).

Otterbox or Trident would be the best for drop protection. I wouldn't consider any slimmer cases to be the "best" in drop protection. I remember watching a video where a guy just threw his iPad with Otterbox from the second story window multiple times. Nothing broke on the iPad.

I'd say the best cases will be either the Otterbox defender or the Armour version if one is made, the Seidio Rugged, or the Ballistic Maxx. All are going to be producing a case specifically designed to provide the maximum protection. I had an otterbox on the note 2 and it had been dropped numerous times down my stair and never a scratch. My wife has a Ballistic Maxx on her S3 and she is quite accident prone but her phone is unscathed. I think the Ballistic case is rated at a 15 meter drop distance. I'm not sure about the others.

I just checked otterbox and they have the email option for the Note 3. I have gotten otterbox for almost all my phones mainly for the belt clip, but I would love to see the armour series come out for this beast. I doubt considering it wasn't released for the S IV.

Seidio OBEX Note 3 Case - Now Shipping!!

Just a heads up that the Seidio OBEX cases will supposedly be available before the end of March.
http://www.seidioonline.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=CSWSSGT3-BR
For 80 bucks I'm expecting a lot.
A WHOLE LOT.
On my list!!
The Note 3 does everything I could ask for, but Sammi dropped the ball by not making it at the least, water resistant. The S4 Active showed that they could have, and the new S5 is rumored to come standard with IP67 (3' for 30 minutes)
I won't likely upgrade to the Note 4 - I can't see it having anything that spectacular over the 3, so a good protective case that adds true water/dust protection would be perfect.
My only concern with the OBEX is the clear screen protection material they choose to use - most plastic screen protectors are poor at best, and get progressively worse over a very short period of time . . .
Cheers'
Dan

I had both for my S3. I'd say they both add a considerable amount of bulk but it looks as if Seidio cut back a little for the Note's model based on the pictures, but of course I could be wrong. I think Seidio was a little more bulkier than the Otterbox, though. I feel its justified due to the simple fact that the Otterbox merely covers ports while Seidio has to ensure they're weather proof as well. In any case, I'm constantly refreshing the Seidio page daily waiting for the release. Must be getting close because they added 6 more pictures about 2 days ago.
I will say with the Seidio case I had more complaints about people being able to hear me clearly on the phone and it muffled the sound a bit on the ear piece, too so I resorted to bluetooth for calls. It seems that the longer my S3 was in the Seidio case, the farther away if got from the screen (mere milometers, I'm sure) but it did effect the responsiveness of the touchscreen. When you first put it in it was pretty responsive but still not as good as a stock screen. I'd love for them to release a model similar to the nude Lifeproof case for the S3... which I saw today they are now selling at Walmart.
one of the ugliest, if not the ugliest $80 case ive ever seen.

I wouldn't say it's ugly, just horribly priced.
The OBEX for the iPhone 5 was terrible (audio and earpiece issues and the flimsy port covers was a total letdown). I'd stay away from the OBEX line and hope Otterbox creates one for the Note 3.

If the cheap Chinese cases can have gorilla glass, why not this case? Seriously the plastic screen cover with 4H rating will get scratched to bits, for $80 I expected better materials.....
Definitely want one but the price is an absolute killer.
Is there any chance of the price going down? Maybe after it starts selling on Amazon? I would get it if it's in the $50~$60 range, but $80 is an overkill.

Even non corning tempered glass would be better than the soft plastic they are using here, 4H scratch resistant? Very poor, and for $80? No thanks!
High touch sensitivity drains battery faster. Shouldn't have to turn it on. Also, you are purchasing a waterproof case, not a crappy plastic screen protector. A whole case and holster clip if I am not mistaken.
If it lives up to its quality and name, 80 is well worth it.
Also, if you Crack a glass screen protector on a waterproof case... Guess what happens... It's no longer water proof.

Haven't noticed a significant drop in battery power with high sensitivity on, and decent glass protectors will have layers embedded within them, so it's not inconceivable that it would be able to hold its waterproofing if broken, plastic punctures easily too....
They could have used something better than 4H plastic is all I'm saying, especially at the price point they want. I wish lifeproof made a case for the note 3, I'm sure one of their designs left the screen bare but was still waterproof!

Gumdrop and Poetic silicone cases

So gumdrop and poetic have come out with silicone cases for the 12.2
I just broke down and got my 12.2 900 from amazon since they dropped the price by $50 (starting Saturday this started just on the black version down a few $ then to $25 and finally to $50 off today and then they applied it to the white so both are $50 off - glad I was waffling). I thought about the VZW one since they had $200 off this month with the contract, and I like the fast charging and slightly quicker processor, but the likely lack of updates and likely fewer mods and no 64gb model made it a no go (that $35 activation fee blows too - so, sorry VZW you could have made some money...).
So I really wanted Gumdrop to come out with a bounce skin for it, but they said lets make a more expensive hideaway model with the terrible slippery/spongy silicone. This will be out on April 15th. I might consider it then, but this company is not making me happy not having replied to a single request for information I have sent since early February.
Poetic has two skin for the 12.2, the GraphGrip and the Turtle. The GraphGrip is out now and is a thinner skin for the 12.2, pretty cheap too. I got this for immediate use. They also have the Turtle which is similar to the BounceSkin in that it is a substantial silicone skin with lots of cushioning. This will be out April 15th too. What makes me hesitate with the Turtle is the weight, 12 oz.!!! This adds 3/4 of a pound to the device. For comparison my wife's bounce skin weighs about 4 oz. My thinking is that 12 oz. is too much weight to add to the tablet. Also both are only available in black.
So just wanted to update everyone on the silicone skins for the 12.2
I have the graph grip. It is HEAVY. Adds a lot of weight. Collects dust and dog fur. Otherwise it is nice. Certainly feels like some decent protection, but i went back to the cheapo case I got off amazon.

Yeah, shipping weight on the GraphGrip says 5 oz.
I wish they could understand gumdrop which hollows out the silicone creating "air pockets" which seem to provide a bit more protection while dropping the weight significantly. I'm glad it feels like good protection, I was worried it would feel cheap.

I like the gumdrop bounce skin case the best, but they only have it for the ipad. I really like the bulk to it, it feels right to me. They hollow out the silicone on the inside to make it cushion more and really drop the weight.
The poetic skin, graphgrip (thin one) is OK. The silicone gets a little tacky after use, and I like that. The weight is not bad.
Cons:
They scent it, I don't like this
It only just curves around the edge and does not extend over the buttons or sides of the glass. I would prefer they go to the edge, cover the home button and entirely cover the capacitive buttons but have thinned out the place where you could cut them out if you want them, I will disable mine this weekend when I root.
I don't think it will cushion the device were it to fall, it just give a bit of a grip.
The big skin I don't have, but it seems like it would be heavy (12 oz. is almost half what the device wieghs, too much for a skin), I bet it is because they don't hollow it out like gumdrop.
I bought the Poetic Turtle Case and sure it does protect the tablet but it is heavily scented and it is just noxious! I am soaking it in hot soapy water and drying it outside in the hopes that the stench dissapates. Too bad for the case! I will be buying a Gum drop just for this reason. Also, the Poetic case is tacky....very sticky, unlike a Gumdrop.
**** So, it's been overnight and the scent is still there after bleaching and soaking the thing and putting it out all night to air out. Why did they scent the thing? Why don't they put that in the description???? It is just such a nasty smell!

Is there any chance you can weigh the turtle case?
The graph grip had the Jasmine scent too but it is fading now to next to nothing after about a month of use. I don't know why they scent it pure silicone rubber has no scent. It might be a mold lubricating agent they use.
I would suggest not using bleach. Try dish soap like palmolive first (high SDS content) then if that does not work or if you want to skip it use febreeze. I prefer fragrance free, but any will work. Why febreeze? Because they use cyclodextrans to De odorize. These molecules trap scent or smelly molecules inside them and actually remove them. Try spraying it on your hand when they smell fishy or worse and you can't get rid of the smell with soap. Febreeze will work like a charm. I suspect in this case it will help significantly but it won't totally work since the scent will be dissolved in the silicone rubber. It will just take a bit of time to totally diffuse out and be gone. Febreeze will be your best bet. Just rinse it off when you are done, the cyclodextrans will just wash away and carry the scent molecules with them.

Very curious how easy it is to remove it from the case. I would like to still use my zagg keyboard dock, which would require removing the tab from the gumdrop case. Please let us know!
Surething as soon as I get it in I will report back!

Do you mean this one: http://www.gumdropcases.com/device/...away-case-for-samsung-galaxy-tab-note-12.html
I am also considering to buy it. It looks like the Ottobox case I bought for the Note 2. I dropped a few times by accident. No problem. This gumdropcase seems to be the best to protect our very expensive device against damage from drop. Any comment on it? With the case, how difficult it is to handle the device in both landscape and portrait mode? Can you do thumb-typing easily as if the case were not there?
Hello, could users please post their experience on the Gumdrop case? The company told me that it includes a screen protector built into the case. I don't need to buy a separate protector. Wonder how good the screen protector and the case are. Is the screen protector a fingerprint maganet? I am using a screen protector from Samsung. It is a finger print magnet. Thanks
Does the raised area on top and surrounding the LCD screen interfere with handwriting, use of S-pen and typing?

Tech21 Impactology Case

Got this one from T-Mobile for 35$ after I freaked because I dropped my phone. The guy said it has an ''airbag deployment'' system that goes off when you drop your phone.. Haha. Not sure how true that is but I will definitely give kudo points for the marketing plan.

I have this case and it is absolutely amazing. I like it much better then my Otterbox.
I've had their cases for two Notes in the past and actively seek them out when I get a new phone. Great, durable cases and they give phones a nice solid feel.
Just picked up this case after seeing this thread. Just a quick review:
Came from a Spigen Slim Armor. I really like the look of that case, but it is damn slippery. I pulled the phone out of my pocket one time and dropped it on asphalt. The phone somehow came out of the case after the initial impact and cracked the glass cover I had on the phone and put a little bit of road rash on the phone itself. Sure, the case help protect the phone from some of the damage in the fall it had, but I'd argue that the case caused the drop in the first place.
Compared to the Slim Armor, The Tech21 case is thinner, and has a textured feel compared to the smooth feel if the Slim Armor case. I wouldn't say that necessarily makes it less slippery. It might be a bit better, but It's more slippery than I would expect by looking at it. The ports on the Tech21 are more open, which means I can actually use my headphones with a thicker port. It also seems to fit the phone a bit more snuggly, which means hopefully it doesn't fall off If I happen to drop the phone again.
Since it's thinner, I don't really like the way it sits in the hand as well, although I am usually against what people seem to like more often and prefer something that has a fuller hand feel.
All in all, I'd call it a decent case, albiet a bit overpriced. I'm still holding out hope that UAG comes out with a case for the G3, because The Case I had for my note II was probably the best case I've used.
I'm waiting on uag also. Great cases
