Hello everyone, I'm new here and this is also my first post.
I have a i9300 Galaxy S3 with broken screen, today i bought a new Display(Touchscreen + Display all assembled)
Everything went fine at the replacement step, now i see everything on my screen, sensitive touch keys working fine, but no touch screen, I've tried everything, revert to stock rom, everything.
Can I do something else? What's the actuall problem?
Thank you very much.
P.S it's an original DISPLAY.

I did replace it on my own and it's also not the first time doing this procedure, I don't know why won't work the touch screen if the sensitive keys are OK.

What android version are you on?
Have you rooted/unlocked your bootloader?
What ROM are you using?
What kernel are you using?
What other modifications have you done?
What was the last thing you did before this problem occured?
well my bad because of short explaination
i am running android 4.0.4, rooted and unlocked bootloader, with AOSP rom. the last thing i'd remember was flashing the rom. i think maybe because i have dropped my phone on the floor, so the hardware become malfunction. just my assumption.

You dropped the phone, and now its not working....its not too hard to figure out what happened.
The screen is broke and no amount of flashing will bring it back.
Its time to put your hand in your pocket and pay to get it fixed. If you can afford to take it back to the shop then try ebay to get a screen and fit it yourself.
well thats great. thanks for helping me throughout this thing. will try to solve this problem ASAP.
Hello XDA,
I apologize in advance if this topic has been covered, but I cannot seem to find any threads describing the problem I have.
Please read below the post that I have put in the Noob Guide thread... After attempting to root my Note for the first time, somehow during the initial process the touch-buttons have completely stopped working
"I don't know how or why, but the touch buttons on the bottom of the phone are no longer working. Is it broken? I was using the stock ICS version on the Note, decided to root it using your guide. I followed the steps, but it locked up on the Samsung logo on bootup. So I then went to restore the phone to stock and try again, and now the buttons are not working at all??? What happened??
By the way, the touch screen is working totally fine. I just cannot press the home, menu, back and search buttons. Also, when I followed the process to bring the phone back to stock, the phone would hangup during boot as well. It would freeze this time on the ATT white and blue logo screen. I followed the advice by Da G and did a factory wipe, and then it finally booted up, but no buttons!!! How do I fix this??
So I've been experimenting as much as possible to try and figure out where I went wrong in this process to break the capacitor buttons. I've tried flashing the stock rom through Odin several times, still no buttons. Without the use of the buttons, I've been able to flash CWM and root the phone, and then was able to flash a rom with no problems at all (since CWM only uses the volume and power buttons to function). I chose a random rom and flashed it, Novena (Alliance Rom), and that process went smoothly. But I still have no touch buttons!!!! What happened??
Is this an unfixable problem? Considering I've been able to do anything with the phone except for touch the buttons, it doesn't seem like it would be a software problem.. But what could I have done to break the buttons? I'm so frustrated.. am I going to have to claim a new phone through insurance? If so, I'm pretty damn scared of trying to root the phone again!"
I would take a look at the ussd codes and see if there is one to test this specific setting!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Thank you for the reply! I looked through all the USSD codes on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1953506&highlight=ussd+code
I could not find anything that would help me. In CWM boot menu, there is a "Key Test" feature in the Advanced section. When I choose that, it registers "Key: 114, 115", etc. when I press the volume up, down and power buttons, but there is no reaction when I touch the capacitive buttons. It says that you have to press "Back" to get out of this test mode, so I'm stuck in the mode and have to reboot since the stupid button doesn't work. >_<
I'm so frustrated. Has anyone ever had this problem?? It seems so bizarre...
that happen to me with my brand new skyrocket.something went during root process.i couldnt fix it.i tried everything.i end up calling att .they replaced it with refurbished unit.good luck.you must have done something wrong while rooting.because samsung phones are hard to ****up.i know what i did.i ran a app from playstore to unlock sim after i rooted it.thats what messed up my buttons.

Aw man, that's discouraging. I can cough up the $200 and get a replacement phone through insurance, but now I'm scared to root it again! I don't know what I did wrong.. I followed all the steps I was supposed to as far as I know.
If I get a replacement phone and try to root it, if this happens again the warranty is void right? So I'd have to go through insurance again to get a new one?
only time i have seen this happen was with a friends epic touch. he flashed a rom for different galaxy sii device. it booted and only problem was buttons not working. you do have a note i717? just checking. you could flash a rom that you can enable navigation bar with onscreen buttons. i am running eclipse and it has this feature and i dont have any problems with rom.

Thanks for the reply.. That is actually a good idea, I will have to try that if the buttons break again. I say "again" because **update** the buttons are magically working now!! Wtf?? I received a phone call and talked for a bit, set the phone down and when I picked it up again the buttons are all working like nothing was ever wrong.
Of course, they magically started working AFTER I called Assurion and ordered a replacement... Ugh. That is the second time I've ordered a replacement and cancelled it.
Another update...
They're broken again. UGH. No idea why or why they started working for a few minutes. I'm getting that replacement phone and I'll try again. I really hope it doesn't happen again...
Hi everyone, hope you can help me beacause im at my witts end.
In the last year, my galaxy s2's screen has occasionally stopped responding, the os was still running and everything so it wasnt frozen, my touch screen just simply stopped working. Only way to fix it was to hit the back of the phone and do a battery reset. This issue started poping up more and more, and now it won't respond.
Some info you might want to know:
Model: GT-I9100M
Age:~2 1/2 years old
No custom roms/kernels have ever been installed, has always run off the stock.
Never been dropped or had water on it (I took very good care of it)
The nav bar at the bottom (back/search/options/menue) and hardware buttons all work. Everything above the screen no longer works.
What iv done:
Iv reset the phone, did a bettery pull for the night, fully charged it, looked at the board and checked all the connections (all good). Would flashing a custom rom/kernel be something to try next? I read in a forum that someone had a similar issue to me and did that, but it didnt help.
Has anyone had a similar issue with their touchscreen? Why would the bottom nav bar work but no the rest of the screen? Could it be locked somehow? If it is.. how would I unlock it?
Thanks alot guys..

Maybe somethin is lose, take it to a repair shop
Goodnight everyone .
Look my situation .
Bought an S4 i9500 the week of release in the U.S., at the end of last year the outer glass cracked a few weeks later I was replacing the screen with the technique of the " hair dryer " and ended up damaging the underside of the touch . The phone continued to function normally , with the exception of the bottom that was damaged . I bought a screen in mercadolibre of a seller with 100 % positive rating and over 300 sales , having exchanged the screen , the LCD showed the images perfectly , but the touch does not respond to touches of my fingers . I sent the screen back , he said the screen was fine, but he sent me a new one and the problem remains the same . Detail , with the old screen ( original ) I can feel the touch works, since the cell responds with vibration error when the default password . According to detail , my phone is rooteado with " Cooface CMM recovery 3.0 " .
What do you think it might be?
Some incompatible hardware or software of the LCD screen with cooface firmware or the database itself from the phone?
Some hardware defect motherboard ? Even working with the original touch screen damaged ?
What do you think it might be? Thank you!

I did the "factory reset/wipe data", is not the same?
Is there a chance to be a hardware problem? In motherboard?
Thank you.

I would try starting from scratch with 100 % stock by Odin flashing full wipe tar of the same bootloader version you are on...you would again have to root and get recovery back...may fix it by just flashing...but the stock ROM has all the debugging tools and utilities to possibly recalibrate touch...I think on stock ROM there is a mode that allows you to calibrate all touch related and also test hard buttons...

If it says its for i9500 then it should work...if you have networks issues you may have to change apns to fit the service for your area/network
Hello everyone
I have a problem with my Galaxy s3. The previous owner said that touch screen doesn't work because he tried to install custom rom (without any knowledge how to do it properly). After that he installed stock Android.
I tried to wipe data and restore everything to default settings, it didn't help. tried also to install 4.3 stock Android by Odin, everything went ok, but touchscreen still didn't work.
Is there any other way to find out if the digitizer is dead or there might be some issues with tape inside or the problem concerns the touch module?
Glass and screen is ok, no cracks, no damage.
I have connected a mouse with galaxy s3 and it works perfectly. Physical buttons work fine.
Thank you in advance
Greetings.
Not a lot you can do without the touchscreen as you need to dial *#0*# to get factory mode.
The only way you will find out is by replacing the screen and digitiser.
I wish I stole my HTC M9.
