Galaxy s3 GT-I9300 touch doesn't work - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone
I have a problem with my Galaxy s3. The previous owner said that touch screen doesn't work because he tried to install custom rom (without any knowledge how to do it properly). After that he installed stock Android.
I tried to wipe data and restore everything to default settings, it didn't help. tried also to install 4.3 stock Android by Odin, everything went ok, but touchscreen still didn't work.
Is there any other way to find out if the digitizer is dead or there might be some issues with tape inside or the problem concerns the touch module?
Glass and screen is ok, no cracks, no damage.
I have connected a mouse with galaxy s3 and it works perfectly. Physical buttons work fine.
Thank you in advance
Greetings.

Not a lot you can do without the touchscreen as you need to dial *#0*# to get factory mode.
The only way you will find out is by replacing the screen and digitiser.
I wish I stole my HTC M9.

[Q] LCD ok, touch don't work

Goodnight everyone .
Look my situation .
Bought an S4 i9500 the week of release in the U.S., at the end of last year the outer glass cracked a few weeks later I was replacing the screen with the technique of the " hair dryer " and ended up damaging the underside of the touch . The phone continued to function normally , with the exception of the bottom that was damaged . I bought a screen in mercadolibre of a seller with 100 % positive rating and over 300 sales , having exchanged the screen , the LCD showed the images perfectly , but the touch does not respond to touches of my fingers . I sent the screen back , he said the screen was fine, but he sent me a new one and the problem remains the same . Detail , with the old screen ( original ) I can feel the touch works, since the cell responds with vibration error when the default password . According to detail , my phone is rooteado with " Cooface CMM recovery 3.0 " .
What do you think it might be?
Some incompatible hardware or software of the LCD screen with cooface firmware or the database itself from the phone?
Some hardware defect motherboard ? Even working with the original touch screen damaged ?
What do you think it might be? Thank you!

Have you tried flashing a ROM to see if that fixes it

I did the "factory reset/wipe data", is not the same?
Is there a chance to be a hardware problem? In motherboard?
Thank you.

I would try starting from scratch with 100 % stock by Odin flashing full wipe tar of the same bootloader version you are on...you would again have to root and get recovery back...may fix it by just flashing...but the stock ROM has all the debugging tools and utilities to possibly recalibrate touch...I think on stock ROM there is a mode that allows you to calibrate all touch related and also test hard buttons...

If it says its for i9500 then it should work...if you have networks issues you may have to change apns to fit the service for your area/network

[Q] Dead touchscreen after correct kernel flash

Hi... I was on latest Temasek CM11, and flashed Googy max kernel. I got a bootloop, and touch screen completely unresponsive, even on philz recovery. Tried factory reset, another rom, kernel, etc ... Now the phone boots normally, but no touchscreen at all. I´ve heard about burned touchscreen controller when flashing a wrong recovery or kernel, but it wasn´t the case.
Is there any last solution before replacing the screen (again) ?
Stock rom ???
Yes try stock rom.

Trying ... hard to download 890mb over unstable 3g
But even on Philz recovery I can´t get touchscreen to work
If it doesn't work in recovery then the digitiser is blown, new screen assembly required.

can software really cause certain hardware to stop working especially the touch and/or LCD ???. because I have a S3 here too, but the problem is I can't see anything but the touch works. phone boots fine an everything. played music (by randomly touching areas of the screen till I heard a song started playing) it makes sounds when I touch tap the screen, vibrates when i'm typing stuff
the person i bought it from says its a software issue. idk if they are lying to me or not. only way I'm gonna know is if I put another motherboard in and see if my screen
turns on. u can try that too if u have a friend or something that has a S3 too, if the touch works with their motherboard, then its either your motherboard or firmware issue

Everything went fine at the replacement step, now i see everything on my screen, sensitive touch keys working fine, but no touch screen, I've tried everything, revert to stock rom, everything.

I did replace it on my own and it's also not the first time doing this procedure, I don't know why won't work the touch screen if the sensitive keys are OK.

[HELP NEEDED] Digitizer power-up problem

Hi guys,
I used search, but couldnt find anything similour to my problem. Hope someone can help me out.
Regarding:
I got a Tronsmart PS7 MTK6592 (7 inch dual sim octa) phablet for 4 months and it is absolutely a great device, but it turns me down sinds several weeks and is driving me nuts... cant find a solution on the internet or on XDA forum
The phablet has never been flashed with another rom.. i did flash Root and CWM, but that was never an issue for 4 months.
Problem:
The screen responce: it just wont respond to my touch.
When i use the powerbutton several times on/off, the screen starts to react to my touch and i can use the phablet fully.
When i power-up my device everything works, sound, LCD, ledflash and hardwarebuttons, but not the screentouch. The only option is to pull the battery and start all over again booting the phone, hoping the digitizer will respond. Sometimes it does, mostly it doesn't.
What have i done myself to make it work:
When i restart the device with power+volumedown i get the debug engeneer factory test. when i use the lcd screen test, it works flawlessly, even when i try it for several times, the screen touch response allway works.
When booted, I tried the MTK engineer mode *#*#3646633#*#* but this screentest is useles, because when the touchscreen works, it just works...
Flashing stock rom for 11 times... wiping cache and dalvic for 5 times without exiting recovery etc on every flash, nothing works.
When i restore my backup with CWM, the device just works as it should, but the touchscreen problem still persists.
Just restoring data or system, nothing worked... the device works, but the problem still persists.
I openend the device to check if some connector is loose, but everything was just fine. I just pushed the connectors some more just in case, but it wasnt a solution.
Chinese supplier help:
I had email exchange with the supplier of this phablet, but the only thing they could think of is flashing a stock ROM and do all the standard clear cache and wipe dalvic solution, so that wasnt much help.
they offered me to send back the phablet to them, but they are not clear about warrenty etc. so when my device is in China, they could basicly charge me with anything they want... and i dont want be in that position.
My own conclusion:
As i have mentioned before, the screen begins to work when using the powerbutton on/off for 10 times, so basicly the device is allright, just the digitizer (touchresponce) isnt been powered up i think... or something in that direction. If the digitizer was broken, it wouldnt work at all i guess, so it has to be something like that..
Question 1:
Who can help me out with this one...
Does anyone have experienced my problem with his/her (MTK) phone and if yes, did you find a solution?
Question 2:
Is there a script or buildprob. / int.d value that i can set to mandatory push/activate the digitizer?
Thank you in advance,
Regards,
Axelman
I had similar problem with my phone and after I installed screen protector problem was solved. Don't ask me why

Hi,
I am on a new level on the touchproblem i am having.
I got to the understanding that the digitizer/lcd panel has a chip of its own that can be flashed.
giving the touchpanel a firmware update, it could help the digitizer to act normal again.
Herefore i opened the device to look what brand and serial this chip has.
DATA:
Digitizer Kabel says:
EKT CE9921219
Digitizer Chip says:
ilitek
2139QT004
AM2C08075
Dil051010.1
Now this should be enough to get some driver to flash on the chip with a utility, but i cannot find anything on the internet (i am searching for 2 days now)
Anyone got any ideas?
Thnx in advance
Regards,
Axelman
Problem solved.
Flashing rom of another factory (luftco one-x) solved the problem

Broken Phone help.

Good evening everyone, i am here to request a help about my broken android phone screen to try and figure out how to fix the problem i'm facing, lets go from the start, i have a Samsung galaxy grand 2 (Sm-G7102) which had a really buggy touch, i could barely use the phone due to the cracked screen so one day i got really triggered and tried to take the first layer of the screen off but i ended up taking it all off with the one under it disconnecting the whole display (the thin cable that was connected to the screen got pulled off) now i'm only left with (idk what to call it) the last layer of the screen which is only a clear display but it doesn't respond to my touches anymore, and its locked with a pin lock so there's no way in hell i'm gonna be able to recover my files off of it, i tried everything like screen mirroring and a program which can remove a screen lock but sadly this Grand 2 is hardly supported by anything, and therefor its not gonna work i also tried using some ADB solutions but it wouldn't work, now idk if its me who's an amateur and couldn't use it or if my usb debugging is on, idk even know if my usb debugging is on but i'm sure its not. i don't know what kind of way to try. also my phone have been through a lot, Before the screen stopped working i had a custom recovery and i was curious and did something like ''wipe system'' which took my whole system off (including the custom recovery) cause i wanted to flash my phone to kitkat, so instead when i lost my whole system i downloaded Samsung Mega kitkat firmware and installed it directly to the phone using Odin. and it worked like a charm. Phone is also connected to wifi, connected to 2 of my google accounts, and that's all. Now my questions are:
First: I saw that my grand 2 is not supported by an OTG adapters which was my only hope but it supports the Mega and i have already mentioned that i flashed a Mega kitkat firmware into my Grand 2 does that mean it would work??
2: Second if an adapter doesn't work is there any hope to control my phone with an ADB or any other way?? or at least just to recover my files (It includes very important pictures that i don't want to lose).
Thank you all in advance.
