Hello all-
Just flashed latest CM11 M9 ROM and love it so far. Only thing I noticed and not sure if its a bug or just something I'm missing, when I come off WIFI (either go out of range or turn off) I have no mobile data. It shows I have LTE but nothing until I reboot the phone. Once phone comes back I have cellular data but the issue will repeat once I go on WIFI. Am I missing something here or is this a bug? I did a full wipe prior to installing CM11.

Hey guys,
was running Fresh 5.3.1 and went to CM 10 stable.
I did the following prior to this:
1. updated radio for s-on devices via TWRP to get to latest version
2. factory reset
3. wiped system
4. wiped cache + dalvik
5. flashed cm10
6. booted, download Titanium backup
7. Titanium complain about seeing an android device ID mistmatch and said it would fix it so I said yes
8. Observing that I cannot connect to LTE network (it won't connect and won't fail back to 3g). I can only connect to 3g when LTE isn't available. EDGE works fine.
9. Also noticing that the device doesn't switch APs well at all like my old stock ROM or FreshROM did. (It will hang on to a WIFI AP that has a weaker signal).
Anyone else having these issues? Should I not change the device ID with Titanium? Is that the cause?
TIA.

UPDATE 1: Also installed / flashed gapps for JB in there
UPDATE 2: I'm also running radio (baseband) 1.12.11.0809 (latest I believe). Never had any issues like this with any other ROM I've tried (stock, Fresh, OMJ, pokerom) ...
UPDATE 3: Going to try again without restored Android ID
UPDATE 4: I wiped and reflashed and did NOT restore previous Android ID via Titanium Backup and now 4G LTE works fine but I'm still having the WiFI AP issues - seems like this ROM doesn't have logic on the client side wifi stack to look for a stronger AP with the same BSSID and switch to it - I thought it was a native function of the spec but I guess not.
Now GPS doesn't work this release isn't what i would call stable
EDIT: Went into a sense based ROM and did the ##GPSCLRX# code from the dialer app, then using msl reader put in the password and after this got a GPS lock in maps then went back to cm10 and GPS is working fine again...
A few days after working all these kinks out it seems to be much better... definitely a rough start!
EDIT 2: Stock camera app is having problems... Requires rebooting the phone but third party camera apps seem to work fine.. Also intermittently having an issue where the phone seems happy to have no data connection even though it's clearly available (won't get 4G, 3G or edge)...

Last week I was using NOS M7 v3.0.6 and everything was working great but me being a flasaholic, I wanted to try out a 4.3 Rom so I flashed SlimBean DLX 4.3 and it would not connect to 4G. I used it for about 2 days and tried changing the preferred network and rebooting but still didn't work. I then did a full wipe and flashed ParanoidAndroid v3.99 and still no 4G. I then tried crDroid AOSP after a full wipe and still same results. I then decided to go back to NOS to see if it would correct it but it didn't so I even went to Tranquil's 4.1.2 Rom which is what I am on now but still have no 4G. Anyone have any suggestions for me?
I am considering taking it back to 100% stock and see if it works.
Also...my wife's rooted Galaxy SIII connects to 4G in the same area with no problems.

Its a known issue on some 4.3 roms, you must do a RUU but do not forget after Ruu a Phone Reset is obligated , so all your
factory original settings will be back.

I had this issue before, check out my thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2338810
No issues since.
I'm running the NOS GPE 1.0.3 rom, and ever since, I too have only been able to connect to 3G...until like 20 minutes before this post. This worked for me.
Go to phone, dial *#*#4636#*#* and go to Phone settings, scroll down and set the preferred type to LTE/CDMA. Go to settings, "More" under network settings, go to mobile networks, turn off data and change the CDMA subscription to NV, then restart your phone. After I did that, after unlocking my phone, it tried to activate but it was stuck roaming, from there I pulled down the notifications and went to settings from there and went back to Mobile Networks and changed the network type to CDMA/LTE/EvDo and restarted my phone again, now LTE works perfectly Only thing is, it seems to always be on 3 bars of LTE, no matter what, but I'm not complaining, its much faster than 3G.
Ok, thanks for all the help. After flashing the RUU and upgrading to 2.06 it still wouldn't connect to 4g. I then went to a Verizon store and swapped out the sim card and it still didn't work but after about an hour it all of the sudden it connected to 4g. So, I guess it was the sim card and it just took a while to connect. Thanks again.
Hi,
I recently upgraded my ROM to HyperDrive which has been working great. I have attached an image of my specs... During the last few months I've seen my phone connect more and more to 3G instead of 4G, now just recently my phone no longer connects to any 4G at all even if I'm right next to the tower. Does any one have any ideas? I'm thinking it could be a localized problem with perhaps some of the towers, but I want to check everything on my end.
Also I was thinking about upgrading my Radio to see if that might help, my question is based on the information that I've provided with the attached image should I be able to upgrade my radio without having to wipe any data, or loose root? I've also wanted to upgrade to HyperDrive 10.2 but if I upgrade will that wipe my data too?
Thanks for your help!
p.s I have Verizon

This is a ROM problem (I have this problem too) so don't worry about your device. I'd recommend switching to ParanoidAndroid (where WiFi works) and connecting to your network, then flashing back to CM11. If you care about data then make a Nandroid backup and after reinstalling CM do advanced restore and just restore data.
Step-by-step:
1. Download PA 4.4.2 (in the Original Android Development forums for this device)
2. Reboot into recovery
3. Full backup
4. Wipe, and install PA as per the instructions on the original post in the PA thread
5. Boot into PA, set up, connect to WiFi
6. Boot into recovery
7. Install CM11 but don't wipe. This is a little risky but mostly you shouldn't have a problem, since you haven't done anything on PA . 99% of the time you can restore to a backup if anything goes wrong.
8. (Optional) In the recovery choose advanced restore and restore data ONLY. this will restore your original apps and shouldn't cause any problems since the apps are originally from the same CM11 environment.
Hope I helped.
I having wifi problem with cm11 and PA too. I've flashed many radio file but it didnt work. i can connect to wifi after flashed radio but it stop download after a while, althought it still connect to wifi

If this is your problem, and flashing a radio works for a while, then try more radios. There are a few lists of hybrid radios in the general area for the e970. Though, I doubt this is a radio problem as when the stock ROM is flashed WiFi works with pretty much any radio, so I find it somewhat weird that using a new radio fixes the issue for you.

I need more details. What do you mean by cannot connect? What happens? Please post a logcat of trying to connect.

Same is happening with me(CM11 M4)
when i turn on the wifi it scans n shows all the available networks.
when i select mine to connect, as usual it asks password.
after entering password; all that happens is it shows "saved" in wifi list.
nothing else happens.
i have tried connecting all types of wifi networks.
Also on the same line, i cant start the Wifi hotspot as well
after clicking on Portable hotspot it keeps on showing "Turning hotspot on..." for infinity.
I was also having wifi issues. For me, it was because my phone still had the ICS radios. Once I flashed the JB radios everything started working great. maybe that is your issue?
If my Droid Incredible 4G LTE is connected to Wifi, it disconnects from Cellular Data. When I leave where ever it is connected to WifI, it won't connect back to cellular data. I have to turn off Wifi, then reboot the phone. I haven't tried something like switching to Airplane mode, I will try that. Has anybody else seen this issue? The phone is on Straight Talk Veriozon network, so is using SIM card for 4G LTE and CDMA for voice.
Are you stock?
No. Probably would help to mention that. S-OFF, partitions swapped and rooted CM 1.2.1 FWIW, this was happening with CM 11.2 before the partition swap. It wasn't happening before I did S-OFF and flashed CM 11.2 but I was also living in a different location for several months. It didn't start until I moved to where I am now.
I would try to do a clean reflash and see what happens.
I will think about that but I did a clean install when I did the partition swap and flashed the new ROM. I'd rather not do that again and have to set the phone back up again.
Today it seems to be better, I moved from Wifi to out and about and it switched to LTE properly.

I may have to try the reflash after all. The problem's gotten worse and now as of yesterday and today a reboot of the phone isn't getting me cellular data back. This did not start until we moved to a temporary place where I get voice service but not data at home. So the phone spends a lot of time on Wifi and not in a place where it can get data. So I'm wondering if the Verizon network is somehow forgetting about the phone or somesuch. At my old house, it was connected to Wifi but the data network was always available. The phone is S-Off with a custom bootloader and recovery. Assuming I wanted to try, can I put the stock ROM back on it without undoing all that?

If you want to go to stock, you will have to reverse the partition swap.

That part I understand. What I should have asked was "if I want to go back to the stock ROM, do I need to undo the custom recovery, relock the bootloader, go S-ON, etc? Any other ROMS besides CM I might try? That could tell me if it is the ROM or not but, again I did not have this issue until I moved to an area where I can get voice, but no data.
You should be able to remain s-off. here are the stock packages if you don't have them, http://android.cmphys.com/stock-fireball/

Thanks. I will grab a stock ROM. I really like CM 12.1 (and the swapped partitions) though. I was able to get the phone back to cellular data this morning while I was on a chat with Straight Talk. Why a reboot worked then but not the 3 other times I have no idea. I'm also wondering what happens the next time this happens if I go into APN settings and change it to one that doesn't work, then change it back.
Over looking at the stock ROM downloads I see a link to this patch:
http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/93484/
The ROM I am running now was built on 05/26. I see a newer CM 12.1 ROM dated 06/12 that contains that patch so I will flash that ROM, probably next week. I'm on call this weekend and don't want to risk bricking the phone.
I'm running the 6/12 build and it seems happy. I only run my Fireball on WIFI since I switched to AT&T and have a Nexus 5 for my primary.

Ive thought about getting a new phone on a GSM network but where we are building our house I can't get a ATT signal there, so I'm stuck with Verizon.
