Trying to update the firmware. My baseband says ng3 but my build is still nf6. Is the build number the firmware or modem?

Firmware
Not all full firmware images include a baseband update.
Baseband is the modem /BL
Build is the firmware, sometimes referred to as the ROM or system files.
You can find full firmware images all over this forum or on various other sites with a Google search. A quick look at this forum will tell you if the firmware image updates the baseband as people will be posting about that. Or look for the component parts here.

Thanks for the info. I have downloaded and flashed the firmware of b 3 and it will not change from nF6 no matter how many times I flash. I have tried Mobil Odin and regular Odin 3.09 also. Everything says the flash is successful too but it never changes. Only thing I haven't tried is the full stock tar from that page.
Anything you can think of?

I have tried doing that before and after and no change! It's driving me nuts. My moms phone is updated, stock, and voLTE works great and mine doesn't

when you flash the Flashable Firmware Only Tars file, it only update bootloaders, modems, if you want everything updated then u need to flash the Flashable Full Stock Tars.

I did flash the full stock tar as your said and it did finally update. However, when I reinstalled the rom, project infinity latest release, it reverts back to nf6 a build number. Is that normal?

Hello all!
I want to re-install my stock firmware without wiping user data (specially Google account log-in data). Are there any way to do it?
I search how to make a flashable zip file from the .tar.md5. But there's no SGS3 tutorial (found only Epic 4G Touch tutorial).
Thanks!
Data isn't wiped if you flash official firmware so any of our guides here work

Hello,
I have flashed the stock version of Sprint TouchWiz Jelly Bean 4.3 (N900PVPUBMJ4) DeOdex Rom and flashed the MJ4 update fix as well. But, unfortunately I am not able to get my Baseband version updated. Its still stuck on N900PVPUMBMI3. I have flashed it using TWRP Manager.
You help will be appreciated!

Hey @mjcollum, how do I get the AP and CSC file from the MI5 to flash?
Also, how do I wipe without using TWRP?
Kind of want to start from scratch... Thanks

Thanks to:
ChainFire - for superSU
Sparky_b - For Helping deodex with the alliance kitchen
JustArchi/Dsixda - for thier Kitchens Used For Various Tasks
Disclaimer: It is Recomended to Be on The Latest Firmware and Modem. To do that Without having to ReRoot Flash The Firmware Only Tar Via Odin
This Isn't Necessary Phone Boots Without It, But For best results i Strongly Suggest Doing So, Dont Report Bugs Unless on UVU1ANE5 Firmware!
Again DO NOT FLASH FIRMWARE/FULL TAR ON DEVICES OTHER THAN T-MOBILE S5(G900T)

After flashing firmware only. Should I still be on baseband ANCH? Flashed twice, once auto reboot and once manual and both with the same result.

this has happened a few times to me before on note3 and has happened to the alliance guys on international s5,
basically turn ur phone completely off then enter download mode via the button combo power+voldwn+home and flash, might take a couple trys but eventually the modem wills stick, seems to be more sucessful when starting from power completely off
try pulling battery as well then doing download mode combo, power off via power menu might not be enough, alternatively u could just odin the full stock tar and then odin twrp but i dont think thats needed. just need to keep trying firmware flash
I flashed firmware only and got the ANE5 baseband on the first try. Thanks, Beanstown.

Now let's say after Alliance gets updated with this new baseband there is no need to Odin this firmware if I'm not mistaken

Did you try the full wipe tar? Also are you positive you're on MDK now and you downloaded the mdk tar? And did the md5 match on your download?
These are the most basic things that would prevent your phone from booting.
