Are the button functions controlled by the flex cable behind the glass or is that built into the digitizer glass? I've got a phone that was brought in for repairs and the menu button works, but when you hit the back button it registers it as the menu button being pressed. I replaced the digitizer glass lcd assembly, I did not replace the frame or home button sensor cable. Trying to figure out if I need a whole new assembly or if I just need the home button sensor cable.

My home button sometimes sticks down, I want to change it, I have ordered parts off eBay, the black button and also the button ribbon cable that gos underneath, I've been watching strip down videos on YouTube, it looks like you have to remove the whole screen to remove the home button, I just wonder if anybody has any experience on replacing the home button, any help will be appreciated
I didn't replace my home button, but I did replace my broken screen. My advice to you would be to watch those YouTube tutorial videos thoroughly and make sure you know the steps involved. And also take extra care when prying the screen off, you don't want to break it. Just take your time and good luck.

Thanks did you take your screen off with a heat source and how strong is the glue that holds the screen on ?
Is there no one who can help, before my parts come and I may *uck up my phone ;-)
I just changed my housing keeping the original lcd screen today, i used a hair dryer for heat and a guitar plectrum to pry up the screen, you just gotta be verrrryy careful and it will eventually come off the housing, just keep heating then prying, then heating then prying until it comes off the housing.
Basically, my back cover is fine, but the case power button too much sag in it now and is constantly pressing the actual button down, if I have to I will buy the complete housing from Deal Extreme to get that little part but that seems a bit excessive.
It's that tiny silver case button. Is there anywhere it can be bought seperately or replaced, or repaired?
the button is built into the back cover so you're gonna have to buy the backcover
yeah, the power buttons are known to be rubbish on blades.
Hello,
I seriously need help.
I replaced the glass of my s3 and, I think I did a pretty darned good job. But I have a problem. My return and menu buttons don't respond to touch, they light up though.
I don't believe there is anything wrong with the ribbon. Does anyone know if the ribbon relays touch or is that the glass/digitizer. I was of the impression that the ribbon is simply a light transmitter.
Anyways Help please, I'm not sure what I did wrong it looks great, I took the glass off and pushed the ribbon buttons (using the black square adhesive that came with the ribbon - should I remove it - ) to stick them to the areas of the glass that would need the light. To make sure they were flush and had contact to the glass.

Hi guys I replaced the crack glass on my SGH-I757M the other day. In doing so I tore the ribbon cable to the 4 touch buttons on the bottom. I know there is software to add those on the side of the screen. I would like to replace that piece of hardware. Not sure what to call it or if it can be replaced anyone have any idea
Thanks
Hey guys. I had to replace the digitizer on my wife's galaxy tab 4 10.1 thanks to the baby grabbing it and tossing it. When I replaced the screen, I was putting the ribbon cable back in and when I went to close the locking clip, it broke in two. before this happened, I tested the screen and the soft touch keys weren't working, which is the reason for the broken tab(I had to remove the screen to try and clean the contacts.) So, Now I am left with a digitizer that doesn't work and I'm not sure if it's due to this broken clip on the ribbon cable or if the screen was screwed out of the box. Does this clip allow for contact or just to secure the digitizers ribbon cable?
