Hi there! I have an gs3 4.3, rooted with a custom rom on it, when I flashed this rom I lost the original backup of the phone. So now I'm stuck with this rom on 4.3 and I would like to go back to 4.1.2 stock rom, cuz my phone works like s*it since I updated it to 4.3. I heard that if I downgrade I can risk to brick the phone. My GS3 is International, RO Orange. Any advices ?

Here is the firmware for Romania Orange http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=17122,download ODIN v3.09 and in the AP/PDA put the file that you download, connect your phone to PC and go to download mode(Power+vol down+home),in odin DON'T tick Re-Partition option, then just press START.
This will WIPE all your data, including INTERNAL STORAGE,better make a backup of photos, music and all personal stuff.
PS : All you need to know about flashing with ODIN,in case you don't undestand what I wrote above ,Multa bafta !!
Thank you a lot! Multumesc. Have a nice day

So now I have a problem, it won't pass the logo screen..It keeps showing the Orange logo, than samsung, over and over again.
PS: When I open Odin, up in the left, in the logo writes, ODIN I9505. I have I9300..
No worries, I managed to repair it, I made a factory reset from recovery mode. Now it works fine but I have another thing that bothers me. How to stop that software update appear, and I can't make phone calls, ONLY ENERGENCY CALLS! My signal is full..
I managed the network, imei problem too, with odin, installing modem MG4. Thank YOU!!!

Hello I am from Argentina, desperately need help.
I rooted my SGSII ICS 4.0.3 phone with CF Root LPJ everything went as expected. Odines PASS! and all but when my phone reboots it just turns off after logo screen with triangle.
I can get into recovery and download mode but that is all.
What should I do?
Might commit suicide if there is no fix.
Flash stock rom.
You can find it at sammobile.com.

If you can get into recovery and download mode, you are only softbricked. It could be worse.
Please be more precise, I lack experience but I will understand.
Which stock ROM should I flash now?
Because I got a downloaded I9100UHLPS_I9100AROLP4_ARO but it is not LPJ.
I also managed to find Kernel_I9100XXLPJ at intratech. Would flashing this kernel fix it? Could it possibly mess my recovery mode and brick my phone?
Flash the same ROM again using Odin, do not flash the wrong kernel.
ARO is a good ROM, just flash it again, it will boot, then root with the cfroot for that ROM later.
What do you mean by the SAME rom? I got this problem flashing a CF-Root kernel not an entire ROM.
The ROM I had before was ICS 4.0.3 which I upgraded officially via Kies.
Should I flash ICS 4.0.3 UHLPS that is for my region? I9100UHLPS_I9100AROLP4_ARO
I'm pretty sure that's what Atifsh meant, yes.
Thank you all! Thanks given with the button for all!!!
I flashed stock ICS 4.0.3 for my country downloaded from sammobile.com and the phone recovered with no trouble! I got my soft bricked SGSII working again!
Is there anything I need to wipe now to make sure there is no crazy leftover from the CF-Root boot fail?
If it's working fine, then probably not. I mean, you could always backup your contacts, call logs, SMS, etc and your apps with Titanium, do a factory reset, and then restore contacts, call logs, sms and user apps/data only (do not restore system apps or data).
But if it's working fine now, I don't see the point.
I want you to do two things for me tho.
First, get kTool either from Google Play (it's free) or from Hellcat's thread on here. Then backup your EFS. Keep one copy on your external SD card in your phone, and keep another copy on your PC. Then I want you to do a Nandroid backup in CWRecovery.
That way if anything does ever go wrong, you should be able to recover/get up and running again easily without losing your stuff. For example, if your phone ever borked & you had to send it in for warranty service/replacement, you could restore that backup when you get your phone back/a new phone.
Do a backup at least once a week and certainly every single time before you flash a new kernel/rom or if you make major changes to your system.
I am afraid of doing anything with this phone now. First experience = soft brick.
Damn I almost die. Now I need to find a way to get out of this stock 4.0.3 ICS because it is ramming through my battery and is as slow as a potatoe.
4.0.4 is eMMC hard-brick possibly if I wipe after flashing.
Now I feel like an expert.
I also tried flashing cf root today and it softbricked my phone. Weird.... next time I try to root my phone, I wont be using cf root.
Which Kernel was yours? Leave it here logged for future brickers.
Mine was LPJ
Hi,
Basically my friend installed an update for his Galaxy S3 on Orange. However he got a firmware of the internet and tried installing it. It was stock android but not through orange. He basically messed up his phone, he cant boot the phone but cant use phone functions and has constant freezes.
This is the video he used:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VQThuBj5O4
He sent it off to Orange. They basically said he voided the warranty.
Can he just restore it back to stock Orange S3 Firmware.
Thanks in advance.
You can flash a stock or orange branded ROM through Odin that will cure most normal problems, get them from Sammobile. But, if the efs folder has been trashed during the previous ROM install and you didn't make a backup, this won't fix the 'phone functions' and you'll have to pay Samsung for a motherboard replacement.
Your friend should search, read and learn here on XDA before flashing anything, and always backup everthing first.
Hello guys please hear me out!
I'm new to android as well as this forum, but I hear it's a great community. I followed a lot of tuts on how to upgrade my S2 to jelly bean or ics none of them really worked.
OK my friend got me the phone from amazon it's a Samsung Galaxy S2 International Version 16gb Unlocked with 2.3.5 Gingerbread stock firmware. The following day I tried to upgrade the unrooted firmware via KIES, it told me there is no update available for my phone. Okay I decided to root it and flash it though odin. I read that it was wise to back-up the software first and boy was it! So I rooted it and backed it up with ClockworkMod to an sd card just in case. But I forgot to get the other information before I flashed: original Baseband version, Kernel and Build number.
The flashing went fine I got 4.1.2 on my phone but I lost the network service, the lock screen and the turn off key dialog (the phone would just turn off as soon as i hit the off button). Rooted it, installed a different 4.1.2 firmware, same thing. Then I tried ICS, it was worse - I had similar issues as well as the home key was not working when multitasking. So I went back to original backed up rom. Everything works fine now but the baseband version remains from the last "update". Everytime I try a new firmware and go back to the original rom the last baseband sticks.
My question is: Is it at all possible to upgrade my phone? My kernel (from backedup rom) is I9100XXKI3 and build number gingerbread.XXKI3 Imei is fine.
Also my binary data counter is up to 7, is that bad?
Any help I will greatly appreciated! I badly want to upgrade, it's the whole reason I got S2 because it was supposed to be "upgradeable"
Thank youuuu.

Read every word of a thread at least once before even attempting anything then make sure you have all the files you need ready to be used in their relevant places too and try again. When People claim to have read lots of tutorials and guides that have worked for the majority of People but can't get something to work then it's usually down to user error, i.e skimming through guides and missing a vital step that throws the whole thing off.

Go to sammobile.com
Click on firmware
Type in the searchbar: gt-i9100
Search for your country or the one thats the closest to ya
Download the file
Once downloaded set your s2 in download mode by pressing volume down, home en power buttons
Plug in your s2 into your comp
Open Odin
Press the PDA button
Choose the ....home....tar.md5 you downloaded
Make shure that re-partion, f reset time and auto reboot are checked
And hit the start button
If your phone rebooted check and you must be running on 4.1.2...
After that root it... And do what you wanna do
The binary counter doesn't meane something worse... Its only a counter thats counting how manny custom roms you have flashed...
You can reset it with a usb jig or triangle away app in the playstore... ( the app doesn't work always...)

Thank you guys for the replies however do you know anything about my weird issues, like the lockscreen not working after update, then no network service and the power off dialogue missing completely. I've tried at least 3-4 different jelly bean firmwares and always i got the same issues.
I live in Kosovo and i downloaded the Greek firmware which I'm going to try next. I'm going to go through pelpa87's thread you suggested and hopefully it will work and I will report back.
Thanks again.
Edit: thanks for the help guys, last night I installed jelly bean and it works great without any issues.
Hi all.
The usb connector broke on my galasy s2 and had to take it to service.
All i asked them not to change my 4.04 version. But they did it anyway! Jeesh!
They put the 4.12 on it, which doesnt suit me.
Is there a way to get 4.04 back?
Can i just flash my previous 4.04 back with odin?
Or use stock recovery or CWM recovery to install the whole package?
When i had 4.04 i did a full backup with CWM recovery, but the file size is so small so it cannot contain the whole OS.
I come from Nokia world where downgrading was not possible so thats why im asking before trying things on my own and breaking it.
Please help.
Thank you.
Yes you can use Odin to go back to 4.0.4......but I'd advise you go to 4.0.3 instead.......4.0.4 stock firmwares are affected by the emmc brickbug which has turned *some* S2s into irrecoverable paperweights.
Whether your phone is one of them or not.....I don't know (you can check this)
For the firmware, go to www.sammobile.com/firmwares to find the correct firmware for your phone/carrier, download, unzip to tar and flash via Odin......simples
sent from either my Alliance powered S2 or my ArcoCM powered W via XDA Developers App
Find which variant you have first. Go to about phone in settings and see if you have I9100G or I9100, if you have I9100G we have all stock firmwares on our development forum, i advise you to go there, i don't know if our variant has emmc brickbug but you can search it.
Thank you for the replies.
I once ran the emmc brick bug check and it said i dont have the bug
My phone is I9100.
Is there anything i need to know about odin, or just connect, click PDA, choose the Firmware and hit start?
I downloaded the correct stock FW from sammobile.
Thanks again.

Yes, if you get bootloop wipe data from recovery.
Just to report back.
I flashed the old 4.04 stock firmware with odin.
Flashing went fine, but when rebooting the phone got stuck at the samsung logo and didnt go further.
Removed battery, put it back, booted stock recovery and wiped everything and phone worked.
So all went just great :=)
This was my first android flash and after this success i might wanna concider some custom ROM:s like cyanogen, but thats another story.
Thanks for the tips peeps.
I decided to flash my S3 I9300 to REVOLUTIONARY ROM then flash it back to STOCK ICS ROM because I needed to test something. But when I boot my phone there is no signal anymore. What should I do? I've seen so many tips but those were mostly for JB roms. Mine is ICS. Please help.

When you go in Settings<About Phone, is your IMEI displayed ?
Flash a stock firmware using Odin and factory reset. The firmware must be EMG4 or later, flashing an earlier one as you've done will result in the efs folder being unreadable.
