I could have sworn I read a similar issue on here but can't find it now. I have an Asus RT-AC66U Dual Band 802.11ac router. Its supposed to be top of the line. Every other device connected to this router works perfectly fine except my z2. The phone shows it's always connected to the wifi network, but my Internet access randomly cuts out. I have to disable wifi and re-enable it for it to start working again. Usually only lasts a few minutes before it cuts out again. Very annoying. Does anyone know a fix for this? Perhaps a setting on my router?

I would like to know this too, same thing happens with my Z2 (I have a RT-N66U), oddly enough the rest of my devices does not suffer from this issue.
I somewhat fixed the issue.. I called Asus support and a technician walked me through the settings on the router. I still have issues connecting to the 2.4ghz frequency, but the 5ghz is fine. Only issue is the 5ghz signal doesn't travel as far as the 2.4ghz signal. I'm going to call Asus again when I return from vacation to see if there's a better fix. For some reason the z2 has issues connecting to some 2.4ghz routers.

Hi all ,
I met wifi problem with a dozen roms ... i flashed and wipe ... firstly I think is my phone hardware problem , but after I changed the channel of my rounter to channel 1 ... the problem solved...(so far)... I would like to ask if any razr owner have the same problem also ?
Hi mate,
I'm experiencing some WiFi problems with my RAZR and the home Linksys router as well. Haven't tried your solution with Channel 1 yet, though, but I'm gonna go and switch to it right away and report the outcome.
EDIT: Weird... Now my WiFi connection is almost lightning fast and no data losses. Well, thanks, hiha!
Speaking of Linksys routers... a While ago I changed my Linksys WAG120N router from G mode to N mode. Strangely, my RAZR started to reboot randomly. I switched the router back to G, and everything got back to normal.
Funny things are happening, it appears.
My Linksys E4200 is currently in Mixed mode and set on Channel 1 - this appears to be the optimal configuration for work with RAZR.
I also have problems with wifi. Really bad signal at home, like 5 meter away it drops to zero
I tried channel one, still same problem.
I noticed when u hold the phone and cover the right side wifi drops and dies constantly. Just like the iphone 4

I'm on my 2nd Razr Maxx (first one had a cracked screen), and neither has/had any issues with my Wifi network. My router is on the 2nd floor (FiOS Actiontec, mixed mode G N). I get a good signal throughout my entire house, and have never had a single problem.
I hope ics fixs the wifi signal, its horrible. I am now on 2.3.6

this is spot when wifi chip is and probobly antenna
when i have hand in that place signal is much weaker - 20dbm
wifi issue
My wife has a droid 3 and I have a razr. I am running netgear routers
with dd-wrt open source software. Both of these phones were unusable
when we first tried them. I logged into my router and set the qos settings
to enable and both phones now work flawlessly. It seems that the wifi chip
in these phones cycles on and off to conserve power. Without the proper handshaking between the two devices ,when the phone chip shuts down the
buffer overflows in the router and it disconnects because the data
is no longer valid. By eneabling the quality of service setting the router and
the wifi chip use a protocol to prevent this buffer overfllow.
If you search the microsoft knowledge base you will find that vista and win 7
had to have a software upgrade to address this same problem when they
first came out.
Some modems have the qos disabled by default to maintain a higher
throughput.
If you go to the dd-wrt wiki and search for qos it goes into more detail
as to how this works.
Wifi issues here too.
Forget low connectivity, my phone blatantly refuses to even connect to a connection secured with 802. 1x EAP. It is embarrassing to say the least.
I have issues where mobile connection and wifi go blue to grey after a while and no longer work. Possibly what the op refers to.
Also, similar to the iphone4 problems, holding my phone reduces both wifi and mobile data signals drastically. Is this a general device issue?
I am wondering if its something the motorola ics release might address.

Since getting my replacement EVO LTE, I have been having weird WiFi problems. I can connect to 5GHz WiFi networks without any problems, and the phone shows great signal strength. However, when connected via WiFi, most programs (Chrome, Play Store, etc.) can't access the internet. The weird thing is that the Speedtest.net has no problems running when I'm connected to a 5GHz network, and I get speeds around 15Mbps. The internet works perfectly when I'm connected to the exact same router at 2.4GHz, and my laptop has no problems on my 5GHz network.
Anyone else encountered this? The fact that Speedtest.net works makes me think it's not a hardware issue, but my old EVO LTE didn't do this.
Sorry to hear. Honestly I didn't know we had 5 ghz wifi. Thanks for the info.

I have a dual-band router and my 5Ghz band connects and transfers data at 60Mbps.
What ROM are you running? What kernel?
Connect to your 5Ghz band and wait about a minute. Then in the WiFi settings, tap on your network name and what is the speed it is connected at?

Hello everyone,
I have bought a Transformer Prime last summer and it's an awesome tablet until now but it has a flaw as everyone knows with its WiFi. I can get no reception at all if I am at a distance from the router and sometimes this is bad.
My HTC Desire though never loses signal and with its 3g connectivity it is great. So I sometimes share my Data connection to my prime and surf the internet but now I have a question and it seems I cannot answer it online.
Is there a way I can share the WIFI connection OVER WIFI ??? If I open Wifi Hotspot the connection is lost. As I see it, there can only be a mode at once, either client or as a hotspot.
Is there a way to make your phone both ? In other worlds can I connect to a wifi connection and share it at the same time ?
Thank you
No, you can't, I think because there's only one antenna.
You can use a range extender or a router with this function, but it's surely more expensive.
You need a wireless repeater or range extender. It's not that expensive.
Buy Two routers that support ddwrt or tomato. They are pretty cheap now unless you want a Simultaneous Dual-Band Wireless-N router.
This is my set up.
Belkin Play N600 HD Wireless Dual-Band N+ Router - $30 from 1salesaday.
Flashed Tomato 1.28 firmware
Wireless 1 : Wifi - G 2.4Ghz
Wireless 2: Wifi - N 5Ghz
I have another old Asus RT-N12 on 2nd floor.
I think I paid $30 from newegg long time ago.
Flashed ddwrt and set it up as repeater. It basically connects to Belkin Wifi -G and broadcast wifi-G under another SSID
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Universal_Wireless_Repeater
Wireless 3 : Wifi - G 2.4Ghz
This might work but it's still a wired connection.
Disconnect your phone from mobile data, connect to your wifi router, plug in the USB from your tablet to your phone, enable USB tethering on your phone.
This way your phone is acting like an access point for your tablet. I've used this method on old desktops that can't connect to wireless routers but it might also work when an Android tablet is receiving the signal.
Connect your phone to wifi, share your connection with your tablet via bluetooth.

How can I share it with bluetooth ? I have an HTC Desire that uses Oxygen Rom....In settings I only find USB Tethering and WiFi Hotspot...Or do i need another app ?
Thank you all for the information
edit: I managed to do this with FoxFi on my phone and PDANET on the tablet over bluetooth.... Thank you all
Yea, I realize I'm the odd ball still running an old wrt54g for his home router but its all I need.
My problem though is that my newly acquired d-inc 4g can't connect to the WiFi at any faster than 12mbps with excellent signal. Now my girlfriends iPhone 4 sitting right near it gets the full 54mbps connection speed. And to further annoy me, my older rooted d-inc 2 gets 54mbps out the front door, no issues,
And to add to the slow speed, when the phone goes to sleep there is no WiFi data after it wakes back up. It remains connected, I just can't use it oddly.
Anyone willing and able to help a guy out?

have you ever updated the firmware on your router?
Yea, I'm running dd-wrt v24-sp2 mini build 14896. No linksys bull stability issues here.
WiFi is running in mixed mode, channel 11, WPA2-PSK AES (TKIP sucks), with slightly boosted tx power (75mW vs default 71mW), no afterburner but frame burst is on with a long preamble

This was solved. It was the routers fault. Apparently due to the recent storms at the time boucing the power, the flash on the router got into a bad state and required a 30-30-30 reset and has been happily working since then.
Hi together,
I noticed my p9000 has WLAN dropouts while surfing, watching movies etc. It Disconnects from my Router and reconnects some (5-20) seconds later.
Still annoying because Websites and Videos stop to load and additionally there is the danger of using more mobile data with actions during the dropouts.
WLAN is set to be actice always, this would have been my first and only idea.
Problem occurs within different Networks, even while being in eyesight of the Router.
Does anyone else have this Problem and / or a solution?
Thank you very much!

Hoping it's fixed in a future update

Are you certain it's not radio interference? Rather than the phone adapter.
I seemed to be having a similar problem connected to the 5G band on my router, since swapping to the 2G band it seems a bit more stable. Not sure this helps anyone but worth knowing I think.

The wireless disconnects here as well, the settings are set to always active and the Phone is within a few meters of the Router. My Lenovo Tablet does not show any problems. Same Tablet is using 4G while the P9000 is only getting 3G. My patience for the Phone is wearing out.
