You can flash the modem with that program but not the bootloader.
G900TUVU1BNG3 Update
I plan to update my phone to G900TUVU1BNG3 and keep root. I used the Towelroot approach to root NE6 and my Knox Void Warranty is 0x0 (Not Tripped).
I'm familiar with the approach to updating and retaining root, but I'm confused about the app Mobile Odin Pro. I've read countless threads regarding to updating to G900TUVU1BNG3 using Mobile Odin (on T-Mo forums and Samsung Galaxy S5 forums) but I cannot get a definite answer that using the app will trip Knox. I understand that Mobile Odin has the ability to flash the kernel and modify the bootloader, which would trip Knox.
If I have the choice to avoid tripping Knox, I'd rather go that route. I'm sorry for being tedious and I'm sure that the answer is obvious, but I'm a complete noob.
My question: Will installing and using Mobile Odin Pro to update my phone trip Knox?
I'm guessing that if I avoid selecting the Bootloader and Kernel on Mobile Odin Pro, I should be fine even if I have Mobile Odin Pro installed.

If you have premium handset protection then i wouldnt worry about tripping Knox. You can throw your phone at a brick wall and it wont void your handset protection. By the way there are plenty of threads about Tmobile not caring if Knox is tripped .Long story short nothing Voids handset protection so if you have it then flash away . Even if you dont I wouldnt worry to much anyway Tmobile never even checks for Knox

Sorry for this stupid question but I cant find how to root my note 3 with Sprint without tripping knox or voiding the warranty. I've done so much searching but I only found one root method which is the Kingo app but I heard its not approved by XDA mods because it steals personal information from the phone. Please help
I have never tried the chainfire method of rooting so far. I've only tried kingo. I cannot report on other methods. I cannot verify on the accusations of stealing information either. I can vouch that kingo does not trip the Knox counter. That is all I have to report. Sorry if that is no help.

Custom recovery trips Knox. King usually doesn't but can.
What he said. Recovery is what sets off the Knox e-fuse.
Well that's crap. I'm on MI3 unrooted. Should I update and root or root and flash deodexed update? I've been unsure and hesitant to ask but the thread is here so, lol.
I'm on MJ4 and I'm out of luck period. At least for now.

They don't know what the info is used for. So its kinda like be safer then sorry. Me personally i use it and everything is just fine. 1000's of other have used it as well. In today's world everything is out there for thieves to use against you.
Yes you dont want to just give it to them but rest for sure if you bank with a major bank you have no worries. I bought a ps4 off amazon. The next day i had a charge from some other state at walmart for $42.00! Called Wellsfargo and they put the money back in my account.
Just keep up with your credit scores and financial transactions as all Americans should be doing anyways.

Well said...I know I'm not the only person that used the software but at the same time I don't want to go through the whole hassle of disputing activities on my credit report or bank accounts. I will hold off a little longer for some other root method to come out. Do you know if the Root de la Vega is available for Sprints Note 3?
Like we said, kango root won't trip Knox. Adding custom recovery will. If you are determined to run a custom ROM, then you will have to install a custom recovery to flash it and that recovery will trip Knox.
I used the chain fire method on the MJ4 update and had no issues. Going to have to trip Knox though. But look around, no one is having problems with sprint with Knox tripped except for a few unlucky people and they go to a different store and problem is solved.

Correct, but I would recommend that you deep-six the idea of uninstalling any system apps (honestly, it can cause some serious problems with your device). Best to freeze them using TiBu. Your phone has a ton of system space, and deleting apps can lead to undesired results, with no upside.
Any app that can be frozen from app manager should be done from there first (select disable). The rest, use the freeze option from TiBu (Sprint Zone, Connection Optimizer).
Do one or two at a time, then reboot. See if your phone locks up after some use. If no issues, freeze another clutch of apps. If you do run into trouble, thawing the app is your next move.
I hope this helps.
Good luck!

rooting new 4.4.4 NH7 without tripping knox tmobile m919 model
Looking for stwp by step directions on how to pull this off.
You can still use towelroot, but you need to flash back the 4.4.2 NB4 stock kernel through odin. After rooted reflash the new 4.4.4 NH7 stock kernel. There you go, rooted NH7 knox 0x0.
I'm new to rooting devices. If I root my phone and don't flash a custom rom, would that still make the flash counter turn and still void my warranty? I don't want custom roms but there are some apps I need to be rooted to use.
If u will root your phone will lose warranty. ..

Ok, first what version of Kikat are you running? If you upgraded to 4.4.4 you are out of luck for now. If you are still on 4.4.2 NC5, you can use Towel root. This will give you root access, and will NOT trip KNOX 0x0 !!! However the minute you install a custom recovery like TWRP or CWM that will trip KNOX and void your warranty. REMEMBER Sprint will warranty your device with the KNOX warranty counter tripped 0x1 as long as you unroot the device before you take it in or sent it back to Sprint !!! If the device is hard bricked, there is no way to tell it was rooted and they automatically replace the phone. With rooted access and no recovery you can Debloat the device and run rooted apps. Enjoy !!!

darn I guess i'm boned then. I have 4.4.2 but I used Odin to root my phone :-/
I guess if something does happen to where I need to replace it, there's always the *nuke* method or *it's lost or stolen + nuke* method as i do have Sprint's TEP plan.

I run a stock rooted 4.4.2 NC5 with Philz custom recovery version 6.12.9 hltespr. The device was rooted and warranty tripped the second day I owned it. I was in a Sprint corporate Store a couple of wks ago. Showed the tech my rooted note 3. He said I can't touch that, I said what if I unrooted the phone. He said no problem, now I can warranty the phone. He didn't care that the KNOX flag was tripped at all 0x1. Just can't be rooted when you bring it in for service. Sprint doesn't care about KNOX only Samsung cares about KNOX. When Samsung paid millions to the NSA to design a security system to track and spy on others than they care !!!
Pretty easily done with Odin and TWRP.
ALERT! This will void whatever warranty you have. Also, I am not at fault if your phone comes to life..... or dies.
Just need to download Odin (there are forums all over for finding the files.)
Download the TWRP recovery flash file:
http://dl.twrp.me/hltespr/twrp-2.8.6.1-hltespr-4.4.img.tar
Download Chainfire's SuperSU and copy to SD card:
http://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
Power off phone entirely.
Hold Volume down + home and power the device on, then press Volume up to confirm entering Download Mode.
Open Odin.
Connect Phone to computer.
Wait for drivers to install if not already. May need to obtain Samsung USB drivers (http://androidxda.com/download-samsung-usb-drivers)
When the box shows "COM #", click the PDA button and select the TWRP image file you downloaded. (or other recovery).
Uncheck "Auto Reset"
Click Start.
Once finished, disconnect device.
PULL BATTERY
Power into Recovery first thing first by holding Volume up + Home. (failure to do so will result in the stock recovery being flashed back on boot by the phone)
Recovery will autopatch the ROM to prevent the stock recovery from being rewritten on reboot. (or should)
From inside your recovery, flash the SuperSU update zip.
Reboot and enjoy root!
(I had to try a couple of times through trial and error to get it to stick)
Thank you.
Thank worked like a charm!
Worked first time. Thanks!

It does from what I can tell. A stock ROM flash should be able to reset Knox, it did for me, but varied results from other threads on these forums.

Wow your the first person that I have read that was able to reset a blown an efuse American sprint note 3 Knox that way.
I'm reluctant to try it.
And thinking about it it looks like that yes it would looks like it needs a a non stock recovery.
I'll wait.
Looks like we are about to have a deodexed stock rom with root about to drop. From the other thread post in here.

Just to clarify. Once KNOX is tripped there is no reseting it unless the insides are swapped out. When you trip KNOX you blow an e-fuse which is non reversible. However there are ways of upgrading and keeping root without tripping knox, but thats has nothing to do with this

so tripping KNOX and blowing the e-fuse is bad, right? so what happens after? does the phone self destruct? and is there a way around it?

It's only bad if you care about warranty. Once rooted it will show 0x1 in Download Mode. A Samsung repair Tech or Sprint Repair Tech can see that and refuse to fix your phone

Got root
Worked a treat on my Note 3 SM-9005 Lollipop, took 1st time no probs.
Knox is tripped but what the hell, I've been living with the stock build up until the Lollipop update.
works fine
I recently upgraded to ok2, and used this same procedure to reroot my phone successfully.
Coming from JellyBean MJ4 firmware would it be safe to flash the pre-rooted OK2 through TWRP?
Flashed fine from NAB and seemed functional enough but I wasn't happy with the Lollipop UI. Reverted to NK4.
Thanks worked from OK2 Stock.
One question... Can I use another SU application? I was trying to use an old wireless tethering application but it is asking me if I am rooted and won't start.
Titanium backup runs fine and says I have root, as does Root Checker.
If not, does anyone have a working wireless tethering application for their Note 3?

I use Wi-Fi tether router. It's about $3 and works beautifully. (It does license check I believe)
They haven't updated their language to include lollipop, but as a general rule, whatever it says to do for kitkat will work on lollipop. Under "Configure Router," they have a link to the website with a list of configurations. Just follow that, and you should be good. One thing that I would add is to leave the "lte tether patch" unchecked.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.snclab.wifitetherrouter
You could try finding a newer superuser zip to flash in recovery. I do know that a couple of older ones gave that issue. I personally didn't have any luck with another supersu app, but the last time I tried a different one was on kitKat.
I have found the root directions that was posted on this site for rooting my s5 with 5.1.1. But I have 2 questions I was hoping someone could help me out with here. Please forgive me if these seem like stupid questions, as I have only rooted one phone before some years ago.
1 There is much discussion about rooting the s5 will "trip Knox". What exactly does this mean if you do root your phone? Will you have constant error messages popping up on device about Knox? Can you simply uninstall Knox after root?
2 I currently do not have the Tmobile hotspot feature activated on my s5, but I do plan on adding it on later. If I root now, will I still be able to add the Tmobile hotspot feature on my s5?
Much gratitude and appreciation ahead of time for any and all info.
Thanks,
Dave
Hi nissandave,
1) Knox, in terms of the s5, has two meanings. One in the Android OS, and one deep in the firmware of the device. You'll find in most roms that the Android Knox application has been removed, which most people prefer. "Tripping Knox" refers to modifying the firmware of the phone, where the counter in download mode goes from 0x0 to 0x1, voiding your "knox warranty." Knox is tripped when you flash when you flash a custom recovery. Root AND know can be achieved though ODIN in some cases, but you'll be stuck on a stock rooted rom (no CM, bliss, etc) Tripping this switch has no serious repercussions in terms of your phone being fully operational, but there have been VERY few reports of Samsung not performing warranty exchanges for devices with a tripped knox counter. The counter is also impossible to reset, and once tripped, will always be tripped, no matter what rom, BL, tar, or md5 you install.
2) Yes, and as a matter of fact, some roms have a workaround version installed to where you don't have to activate it through tmobile. It just works. Twisted v7 in the G900T dev sections is once of these roms.
From what I I have found and read about twisted v7, you must be running 5.0. How do I get my phone back to 5.0?
Hi,
I have been with AT&T for a long time. AT&T locks boot loader so there were limited options in rooting.
My understanding is that T-Mobile does not lock the boot loader. So the easiest way to root is to install TWRP using Odin and then use TWRP to flash SuperSU.apk. Is this correct? Does it trip KNOX?
Once installed, is there a way to uninstall it and revert back to full stock?
Thanks

Same AT&T situation here. Yes you can root with twrp and supersu zip. It does trip Knox. If you factory reset and flash a stock Odin firmware that should revert to full stock
Hmm, tripping KNOX would need void warranty right? Is there an alternative to root? Thanks

I've successfully brought in a device with a tripped Knox flag for warranty. I said Kies caused the problem (the word "lie" has such a negative connotation, but this was patently not true) and they were completely fine with that explanation, in fact they were tripping over themselves to make sure they could fix it for me. I guess that's my long-winded way of saying a tripped Knox flag doesn't prevent you from taking advantage of your warranty. Besides, I could swear I remember reading an article recently saying Samsung will now honor warranties even on devices where the Knox flag is tripped.
TLDR: A tripped Knox flag is no longer the black mark of death that it used to be
