[Q] VZ GS4 Safestrap - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

This morning I update to Hyperdrive 18, when it rebooted it wifi wasn't working. I tried again same thing, so I did a restore of the of the backup I made before the upgrade. Now I have a mix of 17 and 18. When I try to wipe it clean I get unable to mount system in safestrap? Any ideas?

Did you flash the modules?

[Q] Need help with device after recovery flash

I got the Verizon HTC One Max today... Successfully got bootloader unlock, root, and S-OFF (thanks to rumrunner!).
Found CWM Touch/Non-Touch recovery as well as TWRP. Tried flashing both via fastboot and neither would actually load when telling device to boot into recovery. Tried installing TWRP via GooManager, no go. Tried installing CWM via ROM Manager, no go. Recovery not found for either is what I was pretty much running in to.
Decided to try flashing recovery for Verizon HTC One (via ROM Manager), it says it worked, but still would not boot into recovery. Ever since then, though, I cannot get service and device will be on for a minute or two and then reset.
Manually flashed TWRP and CWM and now it seems to boot into recovery (with either), but still no service and still resetting every minute or two.
Cannot find RUU for this device, nor can I find radio to flash or stock recovery.
Help me! I want my phablet back! lol

Where did you "find" cwm and twrp? Different versions from other forums 'sometimes' contain other partitions with them.
Should only use:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-max/orig-development
Recoveries are made from a device specific kernel. The One kernel is very similar to the Max but not exact. There is work being done to get usable pieces of a decrypted Verizon Max ruu. Not sure what you can do until available.

I "found" the recoveries from the following locations:
TWRP 2.6.3.0 and HERE
then
ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 6.0.4.5
I typically don't go anywhere but XDA Developers...

I was wondering if you went elsewhere in xda initially since you ended up going to One forum and flashing that recovery. Could possibly ask someone to pull kernel from Verizon Max and create flashable zip.

Dont go without. You have custom Max recovery installed now and we have the files for someone in here to create you some flashable zips of stock kernel and stock recovery to try. Decrypted ruu pieces are needed when you cant flash with custom recovery.
Just ask in General for someone to create flashable zips.

Now I might be in even more trouble... Whenever I power on, I immediately go to TWRP recovery, even after fastboot flashing CWM recovery...
I posted stock recovery for you in your other thread. Thanks to the developer for the app flashify who worked me last night and today to get this app working for the one max .

It would be great if you started a thread that explained how flashify works with the Max now. I tried it earlier on and it didnt work. With it we dont necessarily need flashable zips for stock files.

Just in case you or anyone is wondering you cannot use flashify unless you can boot into android as it is an app.
Yes sir. Bootloader unlocked and S-OFF. Booting into Android is not an option, so I'm wondering how I go about flashing these files provided to me being in .bin format? Can I flash them using fastboot? Or can I rename .bin to .img?

Fastboot flash boot (bootfilename)
Just replace the (bootfilename) part with the file name you are using
Example
Fastboot flash boot g6f789c8.img
Edit- also I checked and found that drop box must have added the .bin extension. The flashify app leaves them without extension because it assumes they are .IMG files. Therefore, they can simply be renamed to .IMG. Didn't notice that in the hurry to post.

Awesome. I thank you for the help. I'll let you know if it's a success. Will be the first thing to do upon getting home, after grabbing a beer of course. Lol
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
What you need to do is fastboot the stock recovery, you shouldn't need the stock boot.img unless you tried to flash someone else's kernel for a different device... Anyways yeah you need to fastboot the stock recovery by rebooting in to bootloader and typing "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" given the stock recovery is "recovery.img" which it should be.. Once stock recovery is installed boot in to the stock recovery any way you can possibly get to it and do a full factory data reset.. This will wipe the entire phone as well as reset the Verizon radio/baseband and theoretically you should be able to boot right back up and cell and data connection should resume as normal! Good luck and PM me if you need any further help and I'll give you my gmail/hangouts so you can hit me up directly right there..

There are no working wallet workarounds for the factory stock MK2 ROM that I am aware of.
However, if you'll let us know what workaround you tried to use we may be able to help recover.
I had the same issue.

This is the Google Wallet NFC fix ( tap to pay functionality ) method that I tried unsuccessfully. I used kies to reinstall mk2. Rooted, installed safestrap, installed hyperdrive RLS 12. Setup HD12 as active in ss and setup the ROM letting the phone sit 10+ minutes before reboot after configuration as described in the original post. Next up, booted into recovery, installed the NFC zip, fixed permissions and rebooted the phone. Instant NFC force close on startup... Over and over. factory reset and reinstall of the ROM didn't fix the problem, I had to recreate slot1 in ss.
The above steps happened after the same NFC force close issue occurred after trying this same fix on my original rooted, safestrapped mk2 operating system. Hence the reason Kies was used to factory restore the device in the first place. So basically I tried twice and was unsuccessful both times.
The zip file from the original post was removed and the thread was locked before I could post this information. I had to reset my phone twice but wasn't upset because the author never stated that the hack would specifically work on the mk2 bootloader with safestrap.
I hope that helps. If anyone can point me in the right direction to get Google Wallet tap to pay working on the vzw s4 mk2 bootloader , please do let me know by responding to this post.

Every time I tried to point out to the author of that "fix" that it didn't work he got upset. However, it's been reported by some that they got it to work on Hyperdrive. I wasn't ever able to get it to work, and it always killed wifi. I'd suggest not using it on an i545.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/bm6r5nnah3hjz0u/dbSGS4_GE43_R141Wallet.zip
Here is the fix your looking for.
Before you flash this:
Remove any remnants of google wallet from your phone. That includes uninstalling the apk and removing its data from /data/data.
1. Flash in safestrap recovery
2. Fix permissions.
3. Reboot
4. Enjoy tap and pay

[Q] android.process.acore error

So I was just trying to use the towelroot, but I'm guessing because I had the fnk1 build it wouldnt let me, I found a guide to downgrade to build nc5 with Odin 3.0.9. I successfully did that but now when the phone turns on, I get a constant string of errors that wont allow me to do anything else.
Unfortunately the process android.process.acore has stopped.
Unfortunately the process android.process.media has stopped.
Unofrtunately Gmail has stopped.
Anyway to get rid of this? maybe something I can flash over it?

How do I recover from bad safestrap?

I had just recovered from a RDS lite flash and installed ss 3.73 on android 4.0.4 and was booting fine. I used ss recovery to do a system+webtop+(one more) backup. After that I could no longer boot to stock ROM. I then wiped dalvik but that didn't help. Is there any other way then RDS lite to disable ss?

No way to disable Safestrap and still boot stock, unless device is already in stock.
Suspect that if stock will not boot, it is no longer bootable, did you try restoring stock backup in safestrap?
That's what it's for.
or you could try my 6.16.207.XT908.LRA.en.US stock backup should work fine on the XT912, just doesn't have the Verizon bloatware

If you mean if I activated stock slot, then yes. I can't remember if I tried to restore my backup or not. I ended up just flashing with rds again. Of cause I had to do the setup all over again but it worked fine. I would just have hoped ss had a back-out option.

[Q] Rooted but can't get any ROM installed

@sd_shadow, I rooted my droid razr T912 using the iRoot method. I have bootstrap 3.72 installed and I had made a back up of the image prior to installing CM 11. An update, I tried to re-install the old backup but without system, in which it didn't do anything but eventually came up to the bootstrap screen. It stated that I didn't have su and If I wanted to install the SU binaries. I clicked yes thinking that would get it to work and now I can't get the bootstrap screen, but I can only get to the bootloader now. It seems like I will need to revert back to the old firmware correct? In the AP Fastboot Flash Mode it says the device is locked btw.

TWRP is used with many devices. With some devices twrp can be flashed before rooting, and then you can root with TWRP, the XT912 is not one of those devices.
When you get not rooted warning in twrp, that almost always means Rom is not bootable or completely missing.
Do not reboot if you get that warning.

I'm sure I can get it back to normal now.
Thank you so very much
Alright, I'm back again. But this an interesting development. Let me describe the whole process.
I originally rooted using the Saferoot - [Video]Safe Root for Jelly Bean Android Devices like the Droid Bionic 4.1.2 & More @Tomsgt to root again. It worked like a charm. I updated the SU binaries from the updated SU app and placed SU in my system. My next step was to install safestrap 3.75 which I had the apk still on my internal memory and was able to install it successfully. I booted to the recovery and made a back up(which I'm curious to know if it actually worked this time, but I haven't flashed back to yet) which worked flawlessly. Now this time I wiped with just doing a simple dalvik cache wipe and installed CM12 per the directions and Gapps in this thread Official CM12 thread - Official Downloads (XT912). Everything appears to be fine but I noticed that I didn't have SU, I checked to see if the phone was rooted, which the jRummy root checker says no root. I've tried flashing a SU zip from this post Quote:

thanks dude...
https://download.chainfire.eu/396/Su...etrieve_file=1 just flash superSU in ss recovery to gain root access.
So I can't seem to get root access which is bothering me, but not a deal breaker. I've also noticed that when I try to connect to the computer, my computer can't connect to the phone for some reason. So I'm curious to know how I can get root access again? Should I try saferoot again? I hope this is makes sense.....

I booted to the recovery and made a back up(which I'm curious to know if it actually worked this time, but I haven't flashed back to yet) which worked flawlessly. every rom has a separate superuser/binary, root access for stock has nothing to do with a custom rom.
if you can boot to twrp recovery, stock slot should be rooted.
rom slot you are installing cm12 in?
full file names?
verified md5s?

I've googled and searched on xda about slots for the xt912, but I'm merely confused. So to answer your question I don't really know, but I'll keep searching....

You don't need to search, it says in twrp which slot is selected.
see my [Video] Installing/Upgrading Safestrap 3.75 and Installing a Lollypop Rom
or Tomsgt's [Video]How to install Safestrap 3.75 and Android 5.0.2 Lollipop on the Motorola Droid Bionic, Droid 4 and Droid Razr
Ah, thanks for the clarification
