Problem sending MMS after NG4 via Mobile Odin pro. - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

I was on NG3 rooted. I downloaded the NG4 full tar from here and upgraded via mobile odin pro. I noticed after attempting to send a couple of MMS messages that it would fail to send. I realized after being advised here that mobile odin doesnt upgrade the bootloader. So I upgraded the bootloader via odin on pc using the firmware only tar using the ap slot. Still MMS wont send. Any ideas why this is happening?

I think you may be correct on that.Think You! I had to use Odin on a friends computer to root. Then used Moblie Odin to flash Philz. It worked great.

You could have used towelroot apk to root it without computer and then flashify to flash recovery. ... Or mobile Odin but it is not free .... But don't need computer to root now

[Q] Please help with samsung s5 unlocked

I purchased a blacklisted Brand new Samsung s5 from the states and its with t mobile, I live in Canada.. I successfully unlocked it but I cannot make phone calls or text messages but I can use data. The carrier I am trying to use it with is Wind Mobile. Any ideas?
Try using Odin 4,20 to flash the Wind mobile firmware (G900W8VLU1AND1) on your phone. You'll need to root first.

Thanks for the info. I tried everything and then it got soft bricked. Would it be because of the firmware is bad? I rooted the phone and verified it was rooted, I downloaded the package you told me to, I then downloaded Odin pro and selected the firmware then started to flash it. Then after it rebooted it stayed in a reboot loop.
Its usually a really bad idea to flash firmware from another model of phone, you will usually brick it.

Sorry to hear you're having a problem. This post may be of interest. Mobile Odin 4.20 seems to solve the problem.

Bottom line you can always flash the American t mobile firmware if you can't get into recovery.

[Q] Lost WiFi Calling and VoLTE After Updating

Wondering if this is just me having problems with these updates and keeping root. My first phone I only had for a couple of months. I was rooted on NF6 and updated to BNG3 through Mobile Odin pro, after which VoLTE disappeared and WiFi calling just stays grayed out on "enabling". Completely wiped the phone, re-installed stock software and still could not get these options to work or enable. T-Mobile replaced the phone.
I now have another phone, rooted and was on NF6 and was worried about updating to BNG3 due to what happened on my first phone. I got an update notice about BNG4 and decided to download the full .tar and update through Mobile Odin pro and then flash the firmware via PC Odin. Did that and now I cannot use WiFi calling again and VoLTE is gone from call settings once again.
Is anyone else having this issue, or does it seem like I am doing something wrong? Any help or responses would be helpful before I go back to T-Mobile again.
..
You are right, my initial information was not very detailed. I was writing in a hurry at the time. I did not notice these problems as I was out of state on business and calling over WiFi was not needed. I only use it at home as signal is not the greatest, and that is when I noticed the issue and from reading I could not find an issue relating to mine.
When I have updated, I have not cleared cache or so forth. I just used Mobile Odin with the stock .tar to get the latest update and inject root/superuser and that is pretty much it. I have after the fact, done a factory reset and PC Odin back to a stock state (no root, etc) and this has not fixed my issue with WiFi calling. I have seen other threads in regards to WiFi calling, however I have not seen anything that refers to my issue at hand after updating in the manner that I have.
Can you actually do a full backup while running a stock ROM? I have used other custom recoveries on other phones and completed backups that way but not on a stock rooted phone.
..
Cleared cache as recommended through recovery (no change). Used PC Odin to revert back to the stock .tar the phone came with (ANE6), as well as not having root. Also no change with the problem, still cannot use Wifi calling.
Something very interesting just happened. I got a notice from T-Mobile about an update after restoring to ANE6 and I let it download and now I'm on BNG3 and Wifi calling is working, just no root right now. I can take care of that later.
Thanks for you time with trying to help and giving good information.

It definitely seems like a problem with mobile odin pro.
How exactly have you gone about the update process with mobile Odin?
What I would do is simply follow the threads on here that explain in details what you need to do to update and keep root. The flashing process is what is preventing you from using those features. Something is definitely not being flashed properly and carrying over from the update.

These are the steps that I went by: I used this method when going from NE6 to NF6 (worked great). When I did these same steps trying to update to NG3 or NG4 is when I had problems.
Download the NF6 Full Stock TAR
Extract the single *.tar.md5 file from the downloaded ZIP in step 1
Copy this extracted file (G900TUVU1BNF6_G900TTMB1BNF6_G900TUVU1BNF6_HOME.ta r.md5) to your sdcard (I used my external sdcard)
Throw down the $4.99 and purchase Chainfire's Mobile ODIN Pro from Play Store (link)
Open Mobile ODIN PRO and click 'OK' to the warning about bootloaders and grant it root access when prompted
Scroll down to 'Open file ...' and click it.
Here I was prompted for either 'Internal SD-card' or 'External SD-card'. Select which ever location you copied the TAR to in step 3
Now select the actual folder and file for the location of the TAR you copiend in step 3
You'll be presented with the list of partitions your TAR contains. Click 'OK'
Leave all partitions as-is and be sure to check/tick both 'Enable EverRoot' and 'Inject Superuser (SuperSU)'
Optionally, you may also check to wipe Dalvik and/or data & cache. <-- Not required, but I checked 'Wipe Dalvik cache' because it's harmless.
Click 'Flash firmware'

I think that's right. It definitely seems like something isn't being flashed properly though preventing you from using WiFi calling. After you update, what does your baseband version say?

I'm not 100% right now, I believe that when I was using Mobile Odin to do the updates, the baseband was staying the same. On my last attempts I used Mobile Odin to update versions and then used PC Odin to update the firmware as so everything was the same.
The phone is working now since I restored back to NE6 and it connected with T-Mobile to do OTA updates and now on NG4. I might just use CF Auto Root and not worry about Knox.

You can flash just the modem using the PC Odin. I think that is why you weren't able to use WiFi calling and such when upgrading with just mobile odin.

It does include the modem, however, they don't always get applied. I know you need to boot to stock recovery after flashing the modem, and the recovery does something, then you can reboot and it should be applied. But I am 99 percent confident that is why those things weren't working for you.

heya Legend,
I just had the same thing happen to me today when i ran pc odin to upgrade to NH5. I previously was stock rooted with NG3 and everything worked fine. Ran the firmware, rebooted to download and then installed bootloader. wifi calling was sitting at Greyed out saying enabling. never would turn on. installed TWRP 2.8 to wipe cache and dalvik and also ran a fix permissions. at that point phone wouldnt reboot, sat at Galaxy s5 splash screen. pulled battery, went back and tried to wipe again. still hung at splash. so i downgraded back to NG3 doing firmware, then bootloader. now phone boots fine but wifi calling still will not turn on. Which sucks because i just got my personal Cellspot up and runnin yesterday.
Can you tell me exactly what you did to get your wifi calling running again? or anyone else have any ideas/thoughts?
Thanks in advance

I used PC Odin to just install the modem. Technically the firmware flash should load the modem but it didn't work for me.
This is what was recommended to me and it fixed the problem.
Damn, that did not work for me. tried flashing a few different modems too.

When you flashed the modems are you sure they actually installed? A lot of people are having problems with getting modems to stick when flashed. You have to pull the battery for several seconds before you boot into download mode then flash the modem, and after it boot go to your about device screen to make sure you have the new modem.

DOB1 firmware only file

Hello all.
I have made a firmware only file for the DOB1 version of software for those that want to upgrade with the mobile/pc odin way.
That way you can upgrade a knox 0 and keep knox 0 and root.
Just need to run mobile odin with the stock tar that is available and inject mobile odin and su
for reboot options have it go into download mode
then flash this firmware only file to complete the upgrade and then let it boot up.
Should be good to go.
Download the file from box here:
https://app.box.com/s/ihdqlrozzhyv2jmyqrhbcgkfvr27dl6b
Thought I've read in many places that lollipop doesn't work with mobile Odin.
What happens here is you dont get the full version of lollipop, so technically you are still on 4.4.4. You will still be on the kitkat kernel. Plus the possibility of errors and such.
I would just wait till the dev have a way to root the full version of lollipop.
The kernel is written though with aboot in the firmware only file that you flash with Odin no?

No the kernel is boot.img, which is missing from you file. mobile odin can flash this but it is not recommended, also there is a bunch of necessary files that are not able to be flashed with mobile odin. That is the reason i came up with a way to root without tripping knox. Have you tried your method yet? if you did can you post a screen shot of your about phone.
The best way to get it done efficiently is pc Odin back to official 4.4.2 then take a two updates that will be waiting in line the Volte update then the 993mb Lollipop OTA putting you on stock 5.0.
MOBIL ODIN will screw you up if you try to flash the download able update .
I tried to cheat and go the easy way by reflashing stock 3e recovery with cf auto then I tried to use wannam xposed security hack to Enable custom to officiall status .
After I uses mobile Odin to flash the file from samfirm I was stuck in a boot loop .
Finally just full tar Odin flashed back to 4.4.2 then took Ota.
4.4.2 cf auto will root 5.0 just for reference nothing changes

I didn't find any when I looked.
I haven't yet tried this on my device but a friend that has it said these were the steps he did and it worked. I uploaded firmware and radio file since I didn't find it here. I can also make one that is the boot img in it to flash in regular Odin. Mobile Odin only injects in system I believe.
Do you have a link to your dob1 steps?

Yeah i had steps for updating and rooting on kitkat not lollipop. I had gotten rid of my s5 2 days before lollipop came out. :crying: But a friend has the s5 and he tried to do your steps on his phone and said that it did not work and was getting errors and the kernel was still on 4.4, But he did say that after he pc odin back to stock and took the official lollipop update he was able to use cf auto root to root his device on lollipop. He unfortunately tripped knox doing it with cf auto root. I told him to wait and stop by my house so that i can test some methods that will root without tripping knox, but he couldnt wait and took the plunge. He also said that mobile odin crashed when he tried to use it with lollipop, lucky for him that when it crashed it did not mess his phone up.
The best bet here is to see if you can take the official update, use pc odin to flash ne6 kernel, then use towel root and then pc odin the stock 5.0 kernel back to see of you still have root and not trip knox..
Be careful when you try your method with the kernel added to your package and using mobile odin. Anything related to kernel can cause you to trip knox. I am still having my friend come over so that i can verify a couple of things before i update my thread on rooting.
Okay.
I have found a process for this that works perfectly.
At least on my device.
This is starting with a towelrooted NK2 version with knox 0x0
I went and downloaded the full DOB1 image from SamFirmware and copied that to the internal memory of the phone.
Then I installed mobile odin pro on the phone.
I then in mobile odin pro open the stock firmware from above and had it set to boot into download mode.
I flashed and let it open in download mode.
I then used Odin 3.09 to flash the firmware radio file with no reboot.
Then flashed the kernal in a seperate file.
Rebooted the phone into recovery to let it complete steps.
Then rebooted the phone normally.
Everything seems to have loaded up okay for me now.
Will try for a few days and report back. But is seems to have worked okay.
So you're rooted in DOB1 with knox at 0x0?

Yup
Just a bit of trial and error going back and forth to find something that worked.
Only problem I am running into is that I can not update Su Binary with the app so far.
But it is giving me root access and everything seems to be working.
Okay I take that back.
I have su binaries and everything on it but it won't function and I can not update it for some reason.
I wonder if it is due to the mobile odin injecting ones that are too old.
I made some changes to mobile odin so it has the newer supersu apk and binary from 2.46
Will try and flash back and upgrade again and see if that makes a difference.
im getting an invalid md5 in pc odin. have you been able to flash this?

That's probably because the OP renamed the file after repacking it. You really don't want to remove the .md5 and flash like that if at all possible, because that md5 checks the file's integrity.
Not, trying to hijack your thread @TheArtiszan but I have the Recovery, Kernel, Bootloader and Modem already repacked here:
