Guys today i had a chat with moto's cc..and there they said (in a way) that there isn't anymore upgrades for us:crying:
i am attaching a screenshot..friends you all also try asking in a way and lets see what they are answering..(Fingers crossed)!
Thats sad but hope we get some unofficial ports if some hardworking devs do so...
I like to be frank guys...but do u know 1 thing ...service center guys just know very little about the things going on in actual R&D department of Industry...even when i asked about the 4.4.4 update when we were on 4.4.2 they said they have no idea....even 1 guy had said that 4.4.4 hasn't released from motorola when the actual motorola forum said they have released it.
So i think there is no point in wasting out time in thinking what the service center guy said....just remain calm and wait for official announcement...and i thing that guy dont know the meaning of the so called "major update"... XD
Cheers!!!
it's only chat,i don't believe that,Motorola know moto e is the first cellphone cheap that they maid and they will make a update to moto e,
Dont waste your time chatting with those idiots. They dont know jack sh!t about updates.
You Sure ?
Are u even sure you chatting with the right person ? you don't even know if he's actually in R&D, cuz things like that are usually kept top secret and only for the top management to know about. //
You can relax ... There have to be future updates for the Moto E . Its still in its nascent stage at the moment.. Give it time ~ chill :good:
I did see some image posted on a forum which specifically was a promise from Motorola that they would upgrade. I couldn't find that image anymore
Why are you worried about the next upgrade now?? Motorola has promised Moto E will receive guaranteed upgrade to next version of Android. Rest assured, it'll be provided in time with other Nexus devices.
It's official that we'll get an official lollipop update for Moto E
so hence proved that chat support assistants don't have much knowledge about updates
Every major site has told that moto e is getting it.
We are getting it no matter what :
Sent from my XT1022 using XDA Free mobile app
dont believe them they dont know anything regarding the updates they just give common answers to all and in motorola official blog its mentioned that moto e will get update and even CM12 is on the way so nothing to worry about..:highfive:
plz check the date posted...it was before anyone was talking about moto e+android L
I don't trust on these service center guys, I trust Motorola Mobility. If it has said that it'll provide the update, then let's wait and watch and be patient untill it rolls out the update.

Hello Photon owners.
The time has come to flood Motorola's forum requesting:
1. The Photon be added to http://opensource.motorola.com as an android device
2. For Googlorola to release the source code to the linux kernal as well as the complete build environment. (This is your chance to help get dev's to work on why the 4G break after the unlock, and to help get ready to unleash the pure win out of this device "AOSP")
3. Our bootloaders unlocked or an update to unlock our bootloaders. (We already have this I know. Its what we originally asked for. Personally I could give a **** less, but its all about consistency.)
So far like 4 or 5 people have posted there. we need everyone to take 5 -10 minutes out of their day, and flood that forum like no ones business. The faster we get what we have requested, the faster we can start taking full advantage of what this amazing phone is capable of.
Btw... heres the link to the thread https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/55574?tstart=0
There is a charming forum mod over there named Mark. He doesn't know his head from his ass. He's probably sweating losing his job as soon as Google really steps in.
I'm gonna do this but hope is low because even though google bought motorola motorolas still going to operate like the same ol motorola google isn't taking over manufacturing they just bought em for the patents who knows maybe in the future they will

Hey guys,
i've just finished a chat with the german Moto Support team... And i'm very disappointed!
so what happened?
i've registered for chatting and got Stefan as my chat partner.
First thing he did was redirecting to another chat partner... while i was the ONLY ONE chatting to Motorola... 'cause it was 10:01 my chat started... And chat opened at 10:00...
So now i talked to Nicole...
After my first question of how they want to deliver the ICS OTA in Q2 she asked me if i have an unbranded device...
...whyever that was important...
the following facts were given to me while chatting with Nicole:
she has no idea what she's doing
development process is over (maybe)
retail version can't be delivered
she has no idea what she's doing (2nd time)
retail OTA not available because of the carriers
retail OTA can only be delivered while delivering branded OTA's
carriers are adding stuff for a branded ICS now
she has no idea if there's a SOAK test or not
she has no idea what she's doing (3rd time)
support team is responsible for providing information about ICS updates
support team has no information about ICS updates
i no more believe in any official GSM OTA for germany in Q2
... or maybe german chat support members are totally unqualified ...
PS: sorry, but my english isn't the best
I suspect that you just got someone with very limited knowledge of the ICS update schedule. We're seeing it happen for members on here so it must be in the pipeline for us non US RAZR owners, the question is when? I'm tempted to flash a non UK leak but am trying to remain patient as I'm sure that we'll have something soon ) Hear your frustration though and feel it too! Hang on in there!

Hey there,
i don't know. But it seems everyone of the german support team is blessed with that limited knowledge...
I'm knocking on that 'door' every few days and i had most of them in a conversation... And no one was able to tell me anything
But... I keep trying
They are probably watching euro 2012 football thus not paying attention to the chat.. Lol

Online chat support? Really??
These people are notoriously incapable of fixing anything. Their names are always fakes, since you're communicating with someone in some far off land and you'd be hard pressed to pronounce or even recognize their real name. Their answers are picked from a premade list... it's so bad, it's often assumed they're chat 'bots and not people at all... but they are.
"I am sorry you are having difficulties with your ICS for Motorola Razr today. I will do my best to resolve your question"
These people have no knowledge of updates at all. They're just a buffer zone to skim off problems before they go to phone support. Employees at the retail store level are a better source and you know how much THEY know, right?
The first person you talk to on phone support is barely better. Try to get past this person quickly and politely. When it's clear that they do not know, ask to talk to someone else. That will bring you to tier 2 support and they're the ones that have the most knowledge. But, they're less of them around, so plan on being on hold for awhile. And, when they finally talk to you, it's clear this is the first person who has even a basic clue.
...and they won't be able to answer you about ICS, either. At this point, you've wasted more time than it would have taken to plant an inside made at the Motorola's corporate offices to spy for you.
If you didnt already know, the Atrix's ICS update has changed its status from Q3 to "Further plans coming soon". Take that however you please. But one thing is almost certain; if Atrix doesn't get the update, neither will we. With that said, I feel its time to make ourselves heard to an individual within Moto that has some actual pull on what might happen regarding the ICS update; enter Punit Soni, Product Manager VP at Moto Mobility. If you would like to say something to him, go for it. But remember, the goal is to get the point across that the Photon and Atrix are two amazing and still widely used phones who have dedicated communities behind them who would like to see new life brought to the 2011 flagships that started the multicore revolution. So don't be a douche..

::UPDATE::
Sony has promised that the Droid Bionic will be getting their ICS update soon in response to Bionic owner discontent. Obviously this guy is serious about customer satisfaction. He could seriously be our way to get heard. Everyone should contribute! Soni, on the Droid Bionic situation
Remember, be polite to him. He just joined Moto not long ago.. And try not to spam too

I posted the following comment on Mr. Soni's post about "Motorola aiming to upgrade all possible devices to Jelly Bean, promises to give you $100 credit if it can't"
Mr Soni,
First let me apologize about posting on your G+.
Software updates on many devices being changed to a vague status reads as "No" in the minds of many consumers and Motorola device owners. There are already a number of Motorola device owners that are in the process of replacing their devices. The damage may already be done. In the future simple "Yes we are working on it" or "No updates planned" would be of great benefit to both Motorola and device owners as many customers have already dealt with such vague statements from a number of manufacturers with generally unpleasant results.
Regarding Webtop and it's replacement, Webtop3.0. I release a modified version of the original Webtop that covers over 90% of things the average PC user does on their computer. It has met with some success and has been seen as what Webtop should have been. Webtop3.0 removes most of these key features and abilities and leaves many with no upgrade path beyond Gingerbread, myself included. There is also no alternative device to move to either. I would have gladly given the work to Motorola only asking for partial credit in return. I have attempted to contact Motorola a number of times and received the "Not my department" run around. In order to save space I will not go into the tech aspects and issues but link you to a blog post comparing Webtop, my custom Webtop and Webtop3.0. http://martian-imperium.blogspot.com/
I appreciate that you are reading a number of posts made by Motorola owners. This is far more than we have ever received from Motorola in the past and I hope others at Motorola follow your example.
Thank you
It seems like this is a great step in the right direction for Motorola. I cant wait to see the improvements they will make
The way I see it, is a 100 dollars is just not enough. If they had no intentions on upgrading the phone to begin with? why what put under development? Many of us (including myself) feel that Motorola does not care to have us as customer who buys their products. The least I feel they should do is to unlock the boot-loader ( so developers can do their magnificent work) also provide a logical explanation (come clean) sometimes works.
Just adding my two cents (very frustrated)
I appreciate he is keeping his G+ opened so we can provide him feedback, at least it seems like he is interested in fixing this situation.
Reading some of his answers, I think he is gonna take care of the Bionic first, then the Atrix. No words about the Photon though...

Hi Everyone
The broken promise of Motorola has been drivin' me nuts for a year now. I want to change the situation.
Everybody knows that Moto releases now the Moto X device, and you can hear everywhere how sexy it is.
I would like to make Motorola stop for a moment, and give our crazy good devs (like th3bill) all what they need to make a perfect JB ROM. Or at least ICS. And when I say JB I don't mean Justin Bieber.
How can we do that? We can start a campaign. We'll call it "Don't buy Moto campaign".
This campaign will convince people to avoid Moto product, by showing them that Motorola is a promise-breaker. We will advertise it all over Facebook, and all over the internet, until Motorola will say "Okay. We give up. What do you need?"
What do you think? Isn't that a good way? Isn't it our last chance to win while the time passes too fast?
I need your will to join. Together we will make the change. We can begin with posting on Moto's Facebook page.
Please tell me what you think!
Thank you,
Yair
It already been tried. Even with coverage from multiple sites like C|Net, Moto simply refused to play ball.

Sad to hear that. But was it an extensive campaign? Was there someone who tried to threaten Motorola's sales and revenue?
I'm not sure. We can do it much more powerful this time! Make every upset customer join us!
Look. If all the people here decide to act, together we will make Moto's Facebook page full of out contents, explaining why not to but Motorola. It will be more than things that were done before. We shouldn't give up!
I am the first one. https://www.facebook.com/motorola/posts/10151795168395731

Both SupportMyMoto and it's partner UpdateMyMoto were pretty massive. In fact SupportMyMoto pushed the official Motorola website of the first page of Google search results for "Motorola" and was pulling in thousands of hits a day. There were a number of developers and Android advocates on board as well as a number of device owners from around the world. There was also a massive Twitter, Facebook and G+ effort as well. It hit almost every one of Motorola's social media outlets as well as the official Motorola forums. The estimated loss in return customers was projected to be in the millions of dollars but even with that Motorola failed to even provide sourcecode much less an update.
Got it. Thank you for the answers!

And yet people are still rushing out to buy the new phone. I don't understand it and never will. I'm one of the few that still posts occasionally on Soni's google+ page. Even some folks who got screwed on the photon are supporting the new release.... Don't get it at all. Plenty of other choices out there. I got updates for six months. Some of you got even less. The most any of us got was 9 months...
Never looking back and enjoying my S4.
Hello guys,
Thanks to our devs, the device didn't die on android development-wise but it's starting to show its age with new software releases. I always wanted to have an unlocked bootloader solution for xt910 and xt912 but there have never been one. I waited for an official solution from motorola but they never cared. If we start a bounty for xt910 bootloader unlock, we might have a small chance to unlock it. I will happily donate 50$ for this cause. If we can collect some $$$$, some crackers on the good side might be interested with this.
XT910 & XT912 BOOTLOADER UNLOCK BOUNTY FROM the DEVICE COMMUNITY !
BOUNTY GOAL : 1000 USD ! Collected amount 270 USD, Remaining amount. 730 USD.
DONORS LIST
The one who unlocks the bootloader of retail droid razr and razr omap4 devices and offers a solution for the users will claim his bounty money from the donors immediately. If the donors don't die before they see that the bootloader could be unlocked with their devices, donors and users will pay for development efforts instantly.
Semseddin 50 usd
Crumplet 40 usd
nandeh 25 usd
tydiamond 15usd
pepcisko 50 usd
Firex2 40 usd
neo.amk 50 usd
Ok let's try this again...
Please keep things on topic here and resist the urge to share opinions that are not on-topic with the OP

Well, new start with a better post no anger anymore.
I would suggest that we first do some research about the possibilities before starting a bounty. Another question might be if money is really needed to do this - just want to say that there might be a way without paying money - and if there is success many people will be lucky to throw some $$$$.
As a first step I will invite Ravi into this discussion who found a possible way to perform an unlock. It's still very hard for sure and we will need some really skilled people like Hash code to throw in their mind , but maybe it's worth a try.
And Semseddin, never mind, let's just forget that last conversation

Ok dtrail1, lets forget about last conversation and be in peace.
I thought bounty money could be interesting for some people to take the job seriously and work on to deliver a bootloader unlock solution. However i would appriciate a free solution as well, i would still donate to that hero

Have you called VZW/moto in reference to this topic? I am positive you will get a legit response... You will know if such is possible as well as any concerns involving said "efuse" May or may not be a possibility on certain xt912/10. Although lately seems the impossible has became possible...

Well, there is still that efuse problem. But Motorola might be able to unlock it by RSA keys. But I don't believe in them...
I was taking to some others, and the most related solution could be a custom bootloader being loaded from sdcard. But therefor we need a way to bypass the signature check - as I know. But this is also the point where my knowledge stops and people like Hashcode (he told us privately) didn't have a further look at this. They spent about two years (and they are still spending time) for kexec. Maybe because they don't see another solution. But I don't know it exactly, That's why I invited him into this conversion, hope he will join soon (will ask him in hangout when he's online).

@dtrail1- Lol, Verizion claims to have ZERO knowledge of subject and MOTO says to call your Carrier for unlock options!! Seems to me one or both are not being honest.. As VZW claims to not encourage this type of thing, he said best bet is to do web search.. And we know how that goes.. I am happy with safestrap and I know others are with bmm. I feel I have no need for this but... This is one of those things that is starting to bug me.. Only reason why I am even involved.. By the way, 4.3 Kernel kikn azzz.. Thanks again.

I know you all will notice i don't post much if at all so my reliability on the matter will be in question but I just got done chatting with maureen from motorola and asked some questions about the future of the xt912. I asked whether we will see another upgrade (4.2 most likely but I asked about 4.3) and she said they are planning on upgrading the os for the razr but they are still on-going. I also mentioned the previous motorola stance on unlocked bootloaders on older phones and asked if they would be releasing info on that for the razr as well and she said it's also in the plans as well. I printed the chat but am having a hard time scanning as I'm at work. i will try to attach it as soon as possible but this info came straight from moto live assistance. the only other problem would be a timetable on this stuff.

Yeah I'm sure because I said xt912 more than I said RAZR. I can't post chat til tomorrow morning but i printed it and will post a picture of it when I get to work. I've been rooting and romming for about 5 years but I've always preferred to be a bystander until now and I took the time to make sure I was saying which version of RAZR and upgrading its is from 4.1.2 to 4.2 and unlocking bootloader. Hopefully the lady wasn't just trying to get rid of me but I felt she was trying to help. I might try again with a different chat person tomorrow to confirm.

Not to be the downer here, but I would take that information with a grain of salt. Motorola has no reason to help such an old phone at this point. Why bother upgrading it and preventing people from buying the latest and greatest model? Think of it from moto's side...

I don't believe they will do it, too much wing promises in the past. And their Hotline doesn't know about Motorolas plans - you can see that they whether always stop answering when it comes to specific topics or they tell you anything which turns out wrong later - this happened already a lot of times.
The only thing why they *could* unlock the bootloader: they did it for other old phones, like the Xoom, as soon as the vendors stop promoting it in example. But maybe or device will never be on that list because Moto cannot unlock it's own security lock (efuse)... We cannot know.

Bionic bootloader unlocking discussion
Danth's approach is simply how to trick HS high security locked device to flash the mbmloader_ns.img which belongs to NS non secure unlocked device. I think he was right but unfortunately he couldn't come up with a solution for his time and efforts like others who tried. I find that whole thread interesting and informative.
Note: If you are using an HS (High Security) OMAP device, an extra step is required. First, build x-load.bin using the steps above. Then, download the MShield signing tool and use the commands below. Contact your TI representative to get access to this tool.
