LG G Watch/ android wear Apps and updates - LG G Watch

I use Hangouts for messaging, are there any other sms apps ppl like using that we could use our original phone number on the G watch that we can reply with?
I don't really like hangouts and how they don't show anything but Google contact photos. Just curious of to what everyone's setup is like. I'm really liking the G watch and the convenience of it, no question android wear has a long way to go.
Which apps do you find convenient and worth the download besides watch faces?

How do u like it compared to hangouts?

I like it alot better. I don't use hangouts except for ingress related talk. Evolve sms is always being improved. I try to use other sms apps sometimes just to try something different but always go back to evolve

Yeah i used it today at work. I'm definitely keeping it and using it over hangouts.. Its beautiful on my phone too.. Only thing I hope they add is being able to see the conversation on the watch.. There sas a couple times someone texted me back and I forgot what I said so u had to dig for my phone lol.. No biggie, but would be nice!

8sms. Way better than Evolve IMO. Evolve is horrid tbh after using it for a while you'll see lol.

Just go look at the evolve g+ community it's nothing but bug complaints lol. MMS barely works, it's buggy as hell and the devs focus on aesthetics rather than a fully functioning app, it's crap IMO. 8sms keeps it simple and works 100% of the time.

I'm trying out chomp sms now. Evolve is nice but the Ui on my phone made it kind of confusing. If u check one person's message it marks them all read? There were times I didn't realize someone sent me a message until I swiped and didn't recognize reading that message or so
Ugh.. Nevermind, I can't handle the ads.. Trying 8sms now. I like it so far, but some of my messages I'm sending from the watch aren't sending or appearing in my sms on the phone..
... Aaannnnd back to Hangouts I go..

Try the new Textra. They update to a material look. And it works with my g watch

The dev of 8sms @bengtan recently updated 8sms and the update killed Android Wear voice reply lol... but I mailed him about it and he fixed it the next day. Here is the APK, it should push out to Google Days within the next couple of days (according to him).

Thanks for sharing the fixed apk. That did the trick! :good:

Any new apps or tricks we should look out for? I know they said an update is coming next month, I just hope developers don't forget about us... Android wear/ LG g watch could be so good!

Google's message app actually let's you go through the entire conversation. I like it has material format.

if you havent done so on sprint. get on Google voice.(its free for sprint) u can use the official Google voice apps on your tablet to send text thru wifi, also received them.
i tried a bunch of apps on my touchpad but never found one that works as good as google voice. my touchpad and phone are both set up with google voice and it's integrated with my sprint phone number so no weird number to deal with. works great for me. only thing is once you integrate, no more going back to vvm unless you call sprint to get it set back up.

TexTab without question. I love it, and the UI is nice and simple (uses BlueTooth). It uses your messaging app in that it uses your phone's signal and leaves the text message in the history of the conversation on your phone.

Facebook?

I'm having several issues with FB, the biggest being after I look at "X" pictures (My man Club?) no pictures will open. I have to reboot the phone and it works for a minute, then same thing? It seems to me, each time a i open a photo/movie and I backout, it stays in memory until FB is usless?
Lastly, and not that I really give a crap, some of my ex-wife post I get, others I dont. The Only reason I mention, she will post pictures of Granddaughter. Friends of mine get them and call and tell me how cute she is. I dont get them. The she will post something else, I get it, so she did not defriend me? makes no sense!
I have version 1.9.6
Anyclue?
Anyone? 100 views and no replys, any thoughs would be appricated.
Don't know about the pictures and videos, but I know you can block specific people or groups from any post you make, so your ex could be choosing to block you on certain posts.

Not to be smart, trust me, she has no clue how. Matter fact, no one in that family nor mine (except me) could do that. Oh well............
More worried about my phone freezing after I open "X" amount of photos. I cleaned up text messages, e-mails, mobile photos today (Photos are on FB anyway). Maybe Photon will run better?
Use friendcaster. Much better than official fb app anyway.
Well, mystery #1 solved (I think), she (they) are not smart enough to defriend me and she swore off FB. But since my daughter loves it and so do her religious friends, they created secret goup just for them. Click on THAT group and post, only they see it. I guess now and then, she slips and just post on her main wall. If I go to her profile, I see ALL the post! That makes sense.
With the freezing, clueless. Since Feb 18th, 2012, I have not installed or updated one single app!

Friendcaster is nice; there's also Fast and Scope (Scope is invite only; install the app and then use invite code "theverge" to create an account) but none of the third-party Facebook apps can see your entire feed. There will always be some things that will not show up in third-party clients.
A more elegant solution I have found is to use Facebook on your mobile browser. It takes some tweaking to get the desktop site to display, but it can be done. Make sure you're accessing www.facebook.com and not just facebook.com; also setting the user agent to desktop can help as well.
Also, you can get the customizable Maxthon (google it, it lets you customize the name, icon, homepage, and other settings). Name it Facebook, give it a Facebook icon and splash screen, and set the homepage to Facebook, bam, you got a Facebook browser. The browser itself is very capable, and has the user agent feature if you want to use it for the desktop version.
It just helps to have options. The Facebook app has always been sub-par.
I use SEESMIC. It works surprisingly well. Works with twitter too, but I use tweetcaster for that.

I'm stock, but it seems not to matter as I was unlocked and running CM7. Sadly, the only people I know NOT having issues are the 4 iPhone users I know. If I were adding apps and/or doing auto updates, I would maybe understand. I'm not.
Facebook I'd a billion dollar company, producing crap apps. The problem I have with there app is that every update will make or break the functionality. On a side note, the reason handloom works so well on, iOS, is because they have a whooping 10+/- devices to support, versus the hundreds of android devices on various os software. Ie: eclair, froyo, gingerbread, ics, honeycomb, etc. So I can't hate the facebook android devs completely just hate the issues that come with updates!

WTF Google? It's just got a huge list of contacts that you cant even contact ?
I miss the status messages.
Cant go invisible
Why are G+ groups mixed in with the contacts? Make it a drop tab or something.
Only thing going for it is the ability to finally send images.

Gtalk is quickly dying, and hangouts is not getting any better. Like a few have said the inability to view your online contacts is a really big deal. I have no clue how my landline non data contacts will ever be able to accept my hangout request, why must I be spamed by people I might make a phone call to once a year, I could care less if they are using hangouts. The people I talk to on gtalk enjoy using gtalk for its cross-platform ability and the nice services provided by google, sure we could use another "Instant Messenger" service like we did before Gtalk, do we really want to? looks like decision day is quickly arriving, google just about 100% killed Gtalk on android 4.3.

Group MMS - Not showing other recipients

First, let me say love this phone.
I received an MMS, which i could tell was a group text sent to multiple people. I could read the text and see who sent it, but I was unable to see any other recipients who it was sent to. On my Nexus 4's stock messaging app, it would show the other numbers that the message was sent to. Is there anyway to enable this? Not sure if it matters, but I know it was sent from an iPhone, and was sent to myself and another iphone.
Edit- Also confirmed that my response was only sent to the original sender.
Thanks!
I don't own the G2 yet, but a great text app alternative on the Play Store is called 'Textra', and it looks just like stock Android, very system light, and super fast. It allows group messaging, and works perfectly, I always text my two brothers, one is on an iPhone, the other a Nexus, and we can keep a conversation going in one thread.

Just installed Textra and tested it. Sent a group text same from iphone to my g2 and another iphone. I received the group text in normal fashion w/ both people, however my reply was sent as a new message to the original sender and not in the original group text thread. Any idea how to fix that?
Edit - NVM, I found the MMS settings in the app, had to enable MMS for group texts and it seems to work now.
