I need some serious help. I have no idea what's going on. I was coming from CR se 3.1 to Jellybeans 20 so I decided to do a data wipe and clear everything and then my phone wouldn't turn on. I couldn't even access recovery. I gave up and decided to do a clean Odin restore with the root 66 stock system md5 and new pit file but I no longer have a recovery installed. I was going to do the casual root again but my phome will not connect to any computer. When I connect it just charges I don't get a new device found or anything. I tried connect it to another computer too and it just did the same thing. All I need is for my phone to connect to my computer so I can restore it to default, install a recovery/root, and install jelly beans. But nothing is corresponding with me. Please someone help me. I'm really desperate for some help right now. Please. I'm freaking out. I don't know what to do. Anything is appreciated. If there's any way you can pm me so we can chat that would be cool too. I'm just freaking out and have been for the past 4 hours.
When did you root your phone? If you originally used casual on the old baseband then flashed roms on the vramc3 modem you need to update casual to the one that unlocks the new modem. I don't see how you could've bricked the phone like that though. Does anything show up on the screen when you try to boot into recovery?
hmmm did you try doing a full odin back to stock and locked?

The modem has nothing to do with rooting, unlocking, or anything of that nature. I believe you are referring to the firmware version correct?

Sorry guess I don't understand the right names for all of it but yes, the different firmware versions then that casual is based on.
I am having the exact same problem..
The only way I can get any service to my I9300 is to downgrade to ICS, flash Ariza Patch 0.5 and then delete my efs folder contents and copy and paste from my backup. When I upgrade to JB 4.1.2 I get no service/emergency calls only. I have tried flashing many modems/basebands and still no service. I have tried restoring efs backups in a few different ways e.g copy and pasting using a root explorer, restoring via recovery, restoring via Ktool. Still the same issue. I have also tried using Ariza Patch but this removes my baseband and seems to make the issue worse. Please has anyone got any ideas?
And we don't care. This is I9100 Q&A.
Sorry I didn't realise.

I no longer have the Sprint Note 3, and unfortunately will not be actively maintaining this thread. If you would like me to add more, comment or PM me the ROM link. Thank you
Hello everyone! I've had some users ask me how to do this, so for those who may be in the same situation, here is a guide to get Android 5.0.1 on your Sprint Note 3 (SM-N900p), for users that are SIM-unlocked and are on a different carrier than Sprint. This has presented me a few problems before, as you cannot go past the MJ4 modem, without losing access to SIM-unlock. In my experiences, I could never get any 5.0+ ROMs to work on my Note 3, while still being able to use/recognize a SIM card from another carrier. I could not get this specific ROM to boot on NC5, so NH7 (possibly newer) bootloader is required. This guide is based solely my own experiences, and a few reported successful users as well. Your mileage may vary.
I will not take responsibility for any damage done to your device, do this at your own risk and free will.
Alright, shall we get started?
What you will need:
Odin (Mirrors everywhere, search for it)
If you are not on NH7 or newer bootloader, Grab NH7 Stock restore found here
Grab latest TWRP (2.8.5.0) here
If you have a modem newer than MJ4, grab MJ4 Modem here
Grab ROM:
a) AICP (Android Ice Cold Project) CM12.1-based ROM
AICP here You will need hlte version! Hltespr does not recognize sim card
b) DarkLord ROM (Note 4 port)
DarkLord Rom here
c) Phronesis ROM (note 5 port) :
Phronesis ROM here
Compatible Kernels for Phronesis ROM (grab hlte-spr versions):
c1 Idle Kernel
c2 DarkLord Kernel
First and foremost: Make a nandroid backup in recovery. Save a copy of it to your PC, as well as a copy of your SDcard(s) for safe keeping.
Now that everything is backed up, and we have all of the necessary files listed above:
If you are already on NH7 bootloader, skip to step 8
1) Open up ODIN on PC and load NH7 stock restore into PDA slot (AP slot for newer versions of ODIN).
2) Do not check "auto-reboot" checkbox. If this is checked, click it once to un-check it.
3) Put phone into Download Mode (Hold 'vol. down' + 'power' + 'home' buttons while booting)
4) Connect phone to PC, there should be a light-blue box lit up with "COM:" + some numbers. This means Odin recognizes the device.
5) Click start button in ODIN to begin flashing. This will take a few minutes.
6) Once the flashing is finished, un-plug phone from PC and pull the battery out for ~10 seconds.
7) Boot straight into Download Mode again. Flash the NH7 file again in ODIN, exactly the same procedure as before. (Sorry, ODIN is picky sometimes, and this trick will get the flash to stick)
Your phone should now be on NH7 firmware, including the Modem and bootloader.
Now we need to get back on MJ4 Modem to be able to recognize the SIM-unlock once again (if you are already on MJ4 or older modem, skip to step 15):
8) Open ODIN on PC, and load MJ4 modem tar into PDA slot (AP slot for newer versions of ODIN)
9)Do not check "auto-reboot" checkbox. If this is checked, click it once to un-check it.
10) Put phone into Download Mode (Hold 'vol. down' + 'power' + 'home' buttons while booting)
11) Connect phone to PC, there should be a light-blue box lit up with "COM:" + some numbers. This means Odin recognizes the device.
12) Click start button in ODIN to begin flashing. This may take a few minutes.
13) Once the flashing is finished, un-plug phone from PC and pull the battery out for ~10 seconds.
14) Boot straight into Download Mode again. Flash the MJ4 modem file again in ODIN, exactly the same procedure as before. (Sorry, ODIN is picky sometimes, and this trick will get the flash to stick)
You should now have everything on NH7 firmware, with the exception of the MJ4 Modem needed for SIM-unlock.
Now we need a custom recovery to flash the ROM:
15) Open ODIN on PC, and load TWRP tar into PDA slot (AP slot for newer versions of ODIN)
16)Do not check "auto-reboot" checkbox. If this is checked, click it once to un-check it.
17) Put phone into Download Mode (Hold 'vol. down' + 'power' + 'home' buttons while booting)
18) Connect phone to PC, there should be a light-blue box lit up with "COM:" + some numbers. This means Odin recognizes the device.
19) Click start button in ODIN to begin flashing. This may take a few minutes.
20) Once the flashing is finished, un-plug phone from PC and pull the battery out for ~10 seconds.
21) Boot phone into recovery (Hold 'vol. up' + 'power' + 'home' buttons while booting).
22) Wipe system, data, cache, and dalvik cache
23) Flash ROM We should have everything on SDcard(s) still. If you do not, you may need to sideload ROM onto phone in recovery. Alternatively, you should be able to restore your backup and transfer it back to phone easily
24) PROFIT!!! Enjoy some Lollipop with your carrier of choice!

Mind if you could do a write up on her how you did Darklord's ROM? I saw you got the "...hlte v0.4.zip" working, but it was only "8.7MB". Did you flash that on top of Darklord's 2.0 or 2.1 or what? Thanks again!

Not a problem! Wish it could have been more detailed, but this worked for me, and seems to for others as well. So NH7 bootloader (or higher, confirmed now) will work as long as we keep MJ4 Modem.

I'm sorry, I did not include the CSC pack instructions in OP. I live in the U.S. and don't know anything about CSC, so I didn't bother. I will look further into it and update OP. If anyone knows anything about it, please feel free to chime in.
I'm pretty sure it has to do with what country you live in. Correct me if I'm wrong.

DarkQueen 0.4 kernel works on Darklord 1.5. Just flash is over the rom. I can't remember anything special to do.
Darklord 2.0/2.1 comes with DarkQueen 0.4 kernel, so no need to flash kernel.
There is not much to write up. Just flash the rom and they all worked. You may need to tweak apn a bit. Some earlier version of TWRP has trouble with Darklord 2.0. I always use Phliz here. I'm staying with Darklord 2.1 for now. I might try out those two new roms from g00h, the pure stock N4 European rom and the customized Chinese leak N4 v3.5. I feel there is not much difference for me. What matters is stability and power efficiency, which is pretty hard to tell by individual unless there is something really off.

Thank you for sharing! The reason for the guide is because there is confusion about updating bootloader and being able to keep MJ4 modem (which seems to be key for us unlocked users)
Tweaked Note 4 port is what I've been running, it is pretty nice, but I agree sometimes you need to see for yourself and not take someone else's experience as definitive.
Do you mind linking darkRom for future readers that may be interested? I may give it a try as well

Hmm... Beyond my knowledge. Just to clarify, mj4 is the latest modem we can use with sim unlock. Any modem prior will work fine. Mind sharing some details on what ROM/version you are coming from before trying to flash mj4 modem? I will update OP.
Edit: were you mi3 bootloader when trying to flash mj4 modem? Like I said, I don't know alot about that error, but maybe you can't have higher version of modem than bootloader.

I was on NH7 when i tried to flash the MJ4 modem. And if i recall, MI3 is older than MJ4, so i don't know why it worked because i also thought it wouldn't with the NH7 bootloader. But the phone is now off my hands after 3 days of working to get it to unlock without some sort of boot loop.

So to be clear, this has nothing to do with US? This CSC? I seen that we (USA users) might need this on the Darklord ROM, or no? Have you tried what Shadow linked you? I've not made the jump to Darklord, but it looks like the battery is really a phenom on that ROM and I might try. I just don't know about the CSC editing

Alright, here is what I've experienced:
I am running g00hs tweaked note 4 port on my sm-n900p on straight talk service, without flashing CSC. I haven't had 1 single issue.
I flashed the ROM on my wife's sm-n900p, with sprint service, and could not for the life of me get data to work at all. I even flashed CSC code (TMB/T-Mobile USA CSC code) and still nothing. I think it has something wrong with CDMA networks. I could be wrong. So I restored her EFS partition so she was back on SPT CSC (Sprint USA code, what comes stock on her phone).
So all in all, I don't feel the CSC is necessary unless you have other needs for it. I personally still don't understand, or see the use of flashing CSC codes. Even though it is said to be necessary.
I have not tried DarkLord ROM yet, I am pretty content on what I'm using now. If you try it out, please feel free to share your details and experience

You will need to flash full Stock Firmware from Odin and that should do the trick
Thank you.. fixed it
Same issue
Hello,
I am having a same issue and had no luck flashing back to the unlocked version.
I previously had unlocked version purchased from Samsung.
To test pie, I flashed to T mobile version, and updated to pie. My current service provider is Verizon.
Could you please help me to go back to unlocked version??

Could you please help me how you fixed it? I downloaded arg8 from samfirm, and it still does the same. Please help. I am stuck with CRI6 right now.

You would need to set Odin not to auto reboot, you would need to flash ARG8 after it says "Pass" you would need to manually reboot the device into recovery mode and flash one of the Oreo leaks

use 4 odin files that you usually would do? BL, AP, CP, CSC (not home one),
then manually reboots by pressing vol down and power key
when it reboots, vol up, bixby, and power then install update from SD card.
Correct? Do i need to do the entire process again if the phone reboots? (showing Start)

Yes the procedure is correct, once done in a timely manner..
What error are you facing when trying to flash an Oreo OTA file via Recovery
I dont get an error message. I still get unknown issue even after doing that.

Patched Odin, what does your software version says in settings?
Baseband: G965usqu3cri6
service provider sw ver. Saomc_sm-g965u_oyn_vzw_pp_0013
this is what worked for me,
1. install G965USQS3ARG8_TMB using odin
2. install Pie update.zip file
3. you should get network now ( hope it works for you too)
4. Flash G965USQS3ARG8 again.. and you should be all set
when you update to Pie, use CR5 not the CR6
