AT&T Sense 6 update missing Image Match feature? - AT&T HTC One (M7)

My HTC One (M7) AT&T phone recently received AT&T's software update that updated it to Android 4.4.2 and Sense 6. While looking at the HTC and AT&T overviews for this update I saw reference to the Gallery 'Image Match' feature. Finally a feature that sounds useful. Well, as far as I have determined, AT&T stripped out this feature from the HTC Sense 6 release when they created their update for the M7.
I had extensive tech support communication with HTC and AT&T on this. AT&T initially pointed to their and HTC's documentation stating that the feature was indeed present (i.e. http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8/howto/464947.html - I know that's the M8 but they both said it applied) and that I should engage HTC to see why I couldn't find it on my phone. HTC said it should be there. We did everything short of a full factory reset of the phone and it does not show up. Then they located two of their colleagues' AT&T HTC One M7 phones and compared to an unlocked M7, all with Sense 6 update. The AT&T phones did not have the feature, just like mine. They determined that AT&T must have pulled the feature before building its software update for the phone.
Why would AT&T do that? The feature is not hardware dependent at all. Is it purely to strip out functionality on an 'old' device to hobble it?
Does anyone have an HTC One (M7) from AT&T that DOES have the Image Match feature in the HTC Gallery app??
By the way, one of the undesirable 'features' of the Sense 6 update is the location and style of the lock screen text notifications. They are now at the top of the screen and are transparent to the background. They used to have a darker text box to make the text easier to read. Is there any way to revert this??
Thanks,
Rob

[Q] Does google goggles work for you guys?

I remember being able to use it not so long ago... But after I updated to that new leaked rom, I never bothered since. I just found out they got a huge update, and went to try and get it from the market, and it said it was not available for my device. The device is named on the market as "Rogers Wireless HTC HTC X515m"
Any help on how to get it working would be appreciated, I really like that app.

Google goggles version 1.6 is available for my Sprint EVO 3D via the Android Market. Not sure which version of Google goggles you're looking for but according to the Android Market on my device the latest version is 1.6.
From experience, I know the Android Market lists the EVO 3D from Sprint and the "other" EVO 3D as separate devices allowing developers to pick and chose which devices are supported by their applications.
Without any detail, it is hard to say for sure why it isn't available for your device. A simple bypass method would be somebody could upload the Google goggles .apk file and you can manually load. Of course, you'd need to be prepared to trouble shoot and I'd recommend making a backup first. Never know what conflict or issue loading an application on an unsupported device might cause.
Hope that helps!
Thanks. I guess i'll have to look into the APK or switch roms :S.
I really like the rom though so i doubt il switch it. But yeah, Thanks!

If you were interested in applying a "hack" .. the android market uses the build device information found in build.prop to determine the type of device.
If you swapped out your current information with the information from the Sprint EVO 3D, the market should detect your device as the Sprint EVO 3D and allow you to download the apk.
I don't think that is the best way to approach it and personally I would side load the .apk before I modified the build.prop.
Either way, figured I'd mention the possibility so you're aware of the different avenues/options available! Hope that helps!

Yeah, i know about that method.. But id rather not do it as im not really experienced. I'll try and find the APK, if that fails, il use the build.prop method
Thanks though

Footprints App Missing

I know most aren't as wild about this app as I am but I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find this app to work with ICS. I've tried Geo-Tagging as well as the Footprints app in the Market but it's not the same as the one that came stock with most HTC phones up until the LTE. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great. I can't believe HTC omitted this app. I even contacted them and they pointed me to the app in the Market that, to be frank, sucks! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
They also left out the HTC Notes app that's on the international One X. Not happy about that either.
The Notes app and Flashlight app are located in HTC Hub. However, I'm stuck without my Footprints. Oh well, time to whip something up. LoL
HTC Notes, Where is it located in the HTC Hub? I've looked all thru it.

It isn't.
The HTC notes app was on the One X, sad that it isn't on the Evo.

My fault. I saw a couple Note apps but neither were HTC Notes.

Supernote works great. It is from the Transformer Prime, but it works on our phone too.
Someone posted it in this section recently I do believe. Search for it and check it out...
Update: I couldn't find the Footprints App but I've found something even better. It's called SpotMarker Pro in the market. I am working closely with the Dev of this app to get it set up to how Footprints was set up. I actually like it better than Footprints and now I don't have to root to get this app.
Thanks, I'm quite a fan of Footprints as well. Good to see another option.
Sent via Tapatalk on my EVO LTE
No problem. It's a great alternative for those that don't wanna root and still have the ability to document the places you've been. The good thing about Spotmarker is you can export your files as a kmz file and that's the same extension that Footprints uses so if you decide to root and tackle Footprints, you won't miss a beat.
Foursquare isn't the likely alternative?
I love it.

I wanted something like Footprints that doesn't rely on logging in on a website. I believe, and I could be wrong, but Foursquare is a web based program that requires you to be online for it to work properly and requires one to sign in. I'd rather not do that so that's why I said Spotmarker was excellent because it works just as well as Footprints, if not better.
Probably better, Footprints never made transporting the data a possibility so sadly you still lose it with every new HTC that had Footprints. So Spotmarker would be better in that respect I guess.
Me:
I turned to Foursquare to retain the data on the phones & PC with the ability to share.

[Q] Mobile hotspot toggle widget?

I played with the LGOG yesterday and couldn't figure where this toggle was like on my one x. There's just a widget to get you to the MH settings screen. Does it not have this widget?
Thanks
Nope and it isn't in quick settings either

Yes it does. None of the ones in the market work either. I found a couple that worked the first time. But after the first use, it no longer worked. Oh w ell... I just put the shortcut to the MH settings page. It's now two presses instead of just one.
I was of the (possibly mistaken) understanding that the Sprint LG OG has a hotspot toggle available for the notification quicksettings.
I tried decompiling the Sprint SystemUI and the AT&T SystemUI and comparing the two to see if there is a way to hack it into the AT&T one.
Interestingly in the Sprint one there were references to att, for instance both had this file: "res/layout/status_bar_expanded_setting_layout_att.xml" supporting the idea that the LG engineers wrote the code once, and then just configured it one way for AT&T and one way for Sprint.
But after doing a lot of diffs between the two, I ran out of hope that it was a simple XML setting different between the two. And I'm too much of a newb to read the smali yet.
Maybe someone more experienced than I could have luck with that approach.

[Q] Revolution HD ROM Visual Voicemail (ATT)

I'm running the Android Revolution HD ROM by mike1986 on my HTC One M8 (ATT variant). The ROM is freaking awesome to say the least, but I'm having issues with the Visual Voicemail that used to exist. I can't seem to find it or activate it now. There used to be a voicemail icon on the Phone Dialer screen, but now I see a black square box where that icon used to be.
If anyone knows how to fix this or what I'm doing wrong please let me know! Major Kudos, there's lots of people with this problem.
Also, I read that the HTC VVM on this phone allows you to click a box and have your VMs transcribed to text. That's pretty sweet.
Thanks in Advance!

How to Create Multi/Live Wallpaper (Non-Root)

Hey Guys -
After wanting an HTC One U12 for a while, I recently changed my mind and went with a Samsung Galaxy S9+. I LOVE it! I had wanted the U12 since HTC supports rooting, but found out that at my new job you cannot install company apps or sync with rooted phones and the apps I use are a must. Turns out most things I would have rooted for are already included with the phone. I'd still love to root if it didn't break Knox and may try in future if a reversible one every appears.
It's running the latest OEM firmware of Oreo currently. One of the features (which seems to be Samsung) is the ability to use the "Infinity Wallpapers" which come pre-installed in a few base colors and I believe one is selected by default. In Samsung's app, I also see where other live or infinity wallpapers may be downloaded and used which are just a few seconds in length.
Anyways, my question is, how can I make these live/infinity wallpapers on my own? Do I have to use "Theme" tools to do it? So far, here's what I've found although hit roadblocks with each:
- I went to Samsung's website to see if there was PC software. From what I gathered, you have to sign up to download it and signups take place for 2 weeks starting the 3rd Wednesday of every odd month - plus - your application must be internally reviewed and approved. Hmm...
- Found this post about "themeDIY." I started getting it set up after updating my Android Studio to the latest version, but the link provided which contains the Samsung files is broken so cannot proceed
- Found "Samsung Theme Designer" at this link on Samsung's DEV website, but it was last updated in 2012 so doubt it is what I need
Any suggestions would be appreciated - Thanks!!
