i found existenz, monxdified and my roms are good
existenz- got alot of modded apps hence improving smoothness, nice unique apps n all
romaur- tweaked, kinda buggy, has some nice features, fairly smooth
monxdified- tweaked, modded, quite nice
Envi-Rom- outdated but heavily tweaked, got alot of camera tweaks n all
try some roms, and find one you like
also note, this may sound like self advertisement because it kinda is, i try very hard to improve camera and battery life in my roms, for z2 it is outdated though which ill be trying to update it soon

its as simple as that when it comes to flashing
the only thing you should note of is non stock based roms, they require a bootloader unlock and if your coming from stock you need to wipe your data,
you dont need to wipe data if your going across roms with same base, aka CM11 to Cm11 , stock to stock , based to based

[Q] Custom rom install questions

I know there have been a few threads about which custom ROM to use, but I still have several questions.
I am currently using WB's v.6 ROM. For the most part, it works well, but I occasionally experience trouble when it crashes on reboot/boot. I have to take out the battery and reset my phone. The other problem I have with it is it gets stuck in airplane mode and can't go back to normal mode (I ride the subway daily and I switch to airplane mode when I'm undergorund and switch back to normal when I go above-ground). Again, a reboot doesn't seem to fix the problem--must take out battery.
I notice people have had good things to say about TEAM and EWJet's roms and I was thinking about trying those out to see if I can get rid of the problems I'm having. I notice in both ROMs, the ops say to install custom kernel. I'm not too good with fixing my phone in case I screw up with the kernels, so I prefer to just use stock. Do I have to use a custom kernel??
Also, I am looking to use the ROM on a pretty permanent basis (i.e. I don't want to be flashing/changing ROMs every month). Which ROM is better for a techno noob for daily use?
I think in all custom ROMs that are stock-based, kernels are offered as an optional addon.
I can say that with certainty for TEAM since I am the co-creator, but I'm fairly sure that this is the case with EWJet ROM too.

Ahhh...I see. This makes me feel a lot better about flashing a new ROM.
Thanks for your response! I'm going to download and try TEAM's rom now

Reporting back~
Installation was a success. Set up was easy. So, this is working out quite well.
I did find one bug (?) The google search bar widget crashes no matter what keyboard I use to type search terms. I did a fresh install by wiping both cache partitition and the dalvik cache before installation. After install, I did a fix permission (and rewipe all cache). I still managed to find the FC.
For a noob pls revert to default stock rom. But the modding world is exciting for ppl who have time.
I searched the threa and saw another perosn having the same problem.
But anyways, I did do a back up of my old ROM so I can always restore.

Upgrade from 4,1,2 to 4,2,2?

Is there a way of doing this? Runnig 4,1,2 with the system version 982.124.14.XT910.Retail.en.AU with custom rom DSEA0588 v1.22en.
I do got BMM 0.3.4 installed and I am rooted.
Yeah there are so many custom ROMs are available in development section . Try to flash that if ya rooted
If ya don't have root privilege then ya need to wait because probably there are very rare chances to released 4.2.2 upgrade in next 2-3 months .
Hit the thx button if i helped ya in anyways
Well, OP says he's got BMM so he's gotta have root. Installing a 4.2.2 rom is the same as any other - I'd suggest LiquidSmooth - it's the most complex and good looking one of them (IMO of course).

NP. You might want to combine it with JBX kernel - I'm using it's battery saver edition and it works pretty damn good!
Alright thanks, so I just have to flash a rom, Can I then Relfash a rom with 1,2,2 if I wanted to?

Yeah, cause all 4.2.2 roms are kexec (have their own kernels embedded), you still remain on 4.1.2 kernel for older roms.
Okay

I think the kernel ya link up is only working with cm10 and liquid smooth.
Make a backup and then try to flash , in case if it doesn't work and ya stuck somewhere or ya get bootloops then restore ya backup.
Thay kernel is really batterysaver because i used it long back when when i had rooted RAZR
Thanks!!
Please hit the thanks button if i helped ya in anyways !!!
Okay, that's what I thought. Liquid Smooth looks like a nice rom but there seems to be many people expericencing it unstable. Think I will wait a little while for a better version of it. Thanks.
Flashed it but it didn't work. Used my backup.

[Q] Random Shut Downs/Lost Signal Strength on GB roms

Hey mates.
The thing is: In my phone all roms running under kernel naa-14 suffer from random shut downs or from loss of signal once in a while, it doesn't happen many times but when it happens it's not good "example: you don't wanna sleep with your alarm not waking you because your phone is turned off, right?" xD.
So i was wondering: do you guys know another kernel for the most recent gb roms instead of kernel naa-14?, or if there is a rom that doesn't suffer from this shut downs/lost signal on this naa-14 kernel?.
Ps: Don't say something like: reinstall rom, go back to 2.1 and then install rom again, etc... i already did all of that.
Thanks

hey mate, I have some suggestion for you, firstly you can flash your mini with SEUS(Sony Ericsson Update Service) not with flashtool, so after you flashed with SEUS you will need to start over again for unlock BL and flashing custom ROMS or Kernels, :victory:

Mate...i think you didn't see my "Ps" xD, in my Ps i say: i already did the Go back to Stock 2.1 and reinstall everything after "kernel+rom" many many times, it doesn't work. The roms work great but one day or another it remembers to shut down or loose signal :S xD. I don't know if it is the kernel or the rom that causes this, any suggestion?

Hey...you r senior than me...but according to me your problem seems to be kernel problem as every GB rom experiences random shutdowns in your case...maybe u can try redownloading the .ftf file of kernel and then flash it again....all d best mate:good:

Yes it is more likely a kernel problem, and that's why i wanted to know if there is another kernel without this problems. I flashed this naa-kernel 14 on my computer and on my portable computer in different times, but the result is always the same because sooner or later the phone will shut down or loose signal out of nowhere. I thought about flashing a rom with stock kernel but the roms available for stock kernel all have some bugs :S.
Ps: do you think there is much difference between this phone and Sony Live With Walkman in terms of audio quality/loudness and camera?, i am tented to buy that phone and all my problems would be solved for good as i need a stable phone when i get a job xD.

it was the first rom ever that i tried, i don't remember now if it was good or not, but is this rom really more stable to use than the most recent gb roms that run on naa-14 kernel?. And does it have all the fixes "battery, camera quality, etc" that were made till now?.
I made a new thread, asking how i can port recent gb roms to work on Stock kernel, maybe it's better this way if possible.
locked you bootloader 1st.

Samsung S3 got very slow and laggy

hi my best friend has a samsung s3 and it got really slow and laggy over time. It takes several seconds to get back to the home screen.
I cleaned the cache of her phone with an app, but it's still far away from fluent. I also suggested her to use nova launcher, but she didn't like it, because she can't use the samsung weather widget.
Is there any easy solution how I can help my friend?
factory reset and too complicated things are not an option
thanks xoxo

stock rom problem

hey guys, i have the international version of S3, I9300. . I searched a lot for an ics stock rom, and finally found it.. installed it with odin, all good, now rebooting..but its stuck at samsung logo.. and it stays there, and if i go in recovery it shows some red errors, something like ''can't find system dir, or data'', and can't mount them.. installed another recovery, tried twrp, and cwm.. and i saw that system partition is 1044 mb occupied, so the rom is there, installed.. but.. can't boot.. also, every ics rom tried isnt working, just isn't booting.. only 4.1.1 + ... i want to try ics because im fed up with ram problems and poor battery life.. it should be 1 gb ram, and my battery is 2850 mAh ... :/ ...some help.. thank you
after flashing ics rom, boot to stcok recovery. select wipe data & cache then reboot. first boot will take 5-10 min.

You can't go back from a newer JB-firmware to ICS easily: it has another efs-format (makes loose IMEI) and needs another bootloader. Use search function to inform.
ICS isn't necessary for good battery life. Try NCS-ROM (JB) or Slim (KK or LP).

i will stick with NCS ROM, good ram management, very light rom.. KK is boring and not baterry friendly.. and lollipop is too laggy.. so ics isn't worth it on S3?
I used NCS for 1 year, but JB isn't safe anymore. So I'm on SlimLP. It runs fine, if you don't install elephants. As batteryfriendly as TW. ICS is out of area IMO and tricky to go back.
But if you have such strict opinions about various Androidversions, why do you ask?

You can go back to jb to ics. If you face imei lost problem, u can easily fix it by flashing modem.
Try this Ics custom rom. Epsilon Project - ICS - V3 and use older version of cwm recovery to flash this rom.
I tried this rom a month ago good battery life than other roms. But ics rom don't support more new apps
I suggest you to try Liquid smooth KK rom Use greenify and Amplify to get good battery life.
