guys m planning to buy a MOTO E but having some doubts ...even thiugh the screen is gorilla glass i have heard that it is very fragile and cracks easily ...saw on moto forums ...many users were complaining ..is it really true ????
The screen is not fragile and won't crack that easily. I have dropped my phone atleast 4 times and believe me it works perfectly fine and not a crack on the screen. Go ahead and buy it. Only thing is that the phone feels a bit bulkier and is not that slim.
my moto e is accedently fell down and the glass is broken. Ya its true the Moto E glass is fragile.
Answer is YES
Moto E screen is fragile.
We have two Motorolo's in our family.
Mom - Moto E
Brother - Moto G
I dropped Moto E in beach water(Accidentally of course), and happened to lose the screen. No cracks whatsoever, just the there is no display and touch works fine.
My brother has Moto G and he dropped the phone (not from great height) and cracked the display. Touch works fine there is display but just the Cracks. It kinda looks cool, but it is something you cannot live with it. :silly:
At this price range this is the best u can get, that's all I can say.
Which phones display doesn't break? It all depends on point of impact when it falls.

Man, my friggin digitizer crack one day, literally like a sheet of thin ice even with a case on. Now, the new one has a tiny scratch and I haven't done anything to it. I have never had such a fragile digitizer on any phone before. Only thing that really bothers me coming from HTC MyTouch 4g where I was in a bar fight and my phone was dragged across the floor and only had scratches, never cracked when it should have been destroyed, lol. Anybody else thing the digitizer is crappy?
Don't get me wrong either, I am careful with my phone, i just can't believe how badly it shattered on a short drop. Annoying as hell!!
I've dropped my phone with and without my commuter case at least a dozen times on a construction site without even a scratch.

Funny you say that. All touchscreen phones are like this. Thin glass. And being that motorola generally makes quality hardware and the plastic on the atrix absorbing impact better than metal phones, methinks you need to take better care of your phone. I see a lot phones during the work week and it seems ive seen a lot of cracked iphones lately. Im not fond of apple but i concede that their phones are high quality. Cant fault a phone or its manufacturer for dropping your phone. You sound silly when you make the mistake but shift the blame.
I voided my warranty.
My first Atrix was tossed out of the car at onto asphalt. I didn't have a case or screen protector on it and after picking up the cover and the battery, everything was fine. A couple scratches and bumps in the plastic but everything worked fine.
The screen finally broke on a fast ball pitch straight down to the floor.

If I wasn't comparing it to past phones I could see you saying it was shifting blame. Kind of silly that you are not too bright.

Lmao..was she jealous over your phone? I'm sure sometimes my wife would like to "drop" my phone lol..
OP..I've dropped mine getting out of my truck onto ashpalt (3-4ft drop) and it came out completely unscathed..so who know..you either got really bad luck..or need to try harder being careful
Ive dropped my phone onto concrete, rocks, grass, tile, carpet all without a case on. 1 MINOR ding n no scratches. I got a otterbox on it now though. Luck sucks.

Yeah i agree :\
My atrix fell out of my pocket when getting out of the car, even with the Otterbox Commuter it still smashed :S
I've ordered a new digitalizer to replace myself, $70 later.
lol my atrix sliped off my leg and fell 3 feet and got broken screen over the buttons @the bottom now

I'm currently using a S4 but considering switch to ZU. My fr owned ZU but he told me that screen is just very easily to get a crack on it. He aslmost do nothing, just take it out from his pocket. I did some google and found that many people had the same problem.
Darn, I LOVE the big screen on ZU so much.

I've dropped mine twice on to concrete once from just over 1m and the second time from almost 2m from the cab of my 6 1/2 ton 4x4 truck.
The second time did have a flipcover on to save it - neither time ended in a broken screen
I too have drop my ultra twice ones from my bike while riding and another time I drop it. The Basel maybe scratch but the screen intact
I cracked my screen a few months back (a week after I got it) and I didn't even drop it! No idea how it happened, considering it was in my pocket when it happened, but 3 months and $360 later, I got it back and bought an Incipio case and tempered glass screen protector and it hasn't happened again.

Yeah, some people will get a bad one, and I assume Sony has fixed this "issue" on the newer ones.

I cracked my screen while in my pocket. I actually dis assembled my phone today and was surprised by the build. The phones frame is actually poly carbonite plastic with aluminum trim added to the sides. The top and bottom trim is also poly carbonite I'm guessing for the anttenna signal. I'm gonna make a post of my phone disassembly. But the main reason for screen cracking is cause the phone is so big and so thin. The screen glass looks to only be 1- 1.5mm thick so when it flex the glass cracks.

Hi guys.
So i've been thinking about buying either one of these devices.
i'm leaning more towards the z ultra because it's such a gorgeous device, but i don't know if i'll be able to carry it around like a regular smartphone and i've been seeing a lot of complaints about screens breaking.
i really wanted the opinion of you guys on this, how is it to use a z ultra in your daily routine, is it weird to walk around with it on your pocket?
the nexus 5 however, is a beautiful device aswell, but a 5" screen seems too small for me.
so, z ultra, might be too big and fragile?
and nexus 5, too small?
or maybe there is another device that can reach a mid-term?

It must be only me but the last phone I carried in my pocket was a Motorola flip phone years ago. I carry the ZU in a nylon tool holster pouch that clips on to my pants pocket (it also has a belt loop but it stays on fine with clip).

Carrying around a nylon tool holster is too ugly imo.
but i've seen a few videos and seems like it fits very well in most pants and shorts. want to know if it feels to heavy on the pocket? or weird?

IN my tighter pants (with smaller pockets) it sticks out a little and is noticeable, in all my shorts and most pants it's fine. Note I have mine in a flip cover so that adds some more bulk to the ZU.

Hmm nice to know. it realy amazes me how cheap this phone got, it's cheaper than the nexus 5 and the lg g2 and it has that massive screen.
btw, i saw a review from a guy saying it uses gorila glass 3, but i don't think it does, can anyone clear that out?
and, is there a chance of the screen breaking just by using it in a mildly tight pocket ? cause i've seen a lot of posts here saying the screen is very fragile.

What about weight wise, does it weights in your pocket?
I don't find the phone to be heavy at all, especially for its size. It's freaking huge though, which can be a burden at times.

Carrying it around in your front pocket, which i do, can be uncomfortable when you're sitting down, bending, etc. I wear loose fitting jeans, and im 6-2", so it isn't too bad. This Phone is just plain huge though, and it will be a problem for some people.
Watch this video and check out this girl trying to stick it in her pocket.

Hmmm. firetruck! that just made me more unsure, cause the phone is extremely cheap right now with such an amazing hardware. would you happen to know any good phone with a screen bigger than or equal to 5.5 and same hardware for the same price?
You can buy a 1+
Doesn't have to buy where i'm going to buy.
is the lg g2 or nexus 5 any good?
Wait for the nexus 6 google it i was announced today

Can't, it'll be released in november and i'll be doing a trip at the end of this month, and i'm going to buy the phone there cause it's way cheaper than where i live.
i'm still in doubt between the lg g2, nexus 5 or the z ultra :/
I had the nexus 5 and switched over to the xzu.. I have to say given the opportunity I'd take back my Nexus 5. Don't get me wrong performance wise and price they are both on par. I've installed a ported version of the Google play edition Rom and it works perfectly well. Downside is the size of this device,, it really is massive and I bought it thinking I would get use to it eventually... 2 months on and I'm still having a hard time getting use to holding it. Also I'm not sure if this issue is wide spread but the screen on this thing is super sensitive (no screen protector). When I say sensitive I mean as in I get random presses from just about anything from screen condensation, breeze and oil smudges and it gets so annoying especially when you're trying to compose an email and it hits the send button mid way. I've even tried out a hack to reduce the screen sensitivity but it still occurs from time to time. Also coming from a Nexus line I have to say there's barely any activity or new developments in the XZU forums,,something you might want to consider if you're into customizing or flashing roms all the time.

i think i'm sticking with the z ultra afterall.
i've received a very positive review of this smartphone by a friend of mine who owns one, he says this is the best phone he ever had.
Just remove the ASF and apply a tempered glass over for reinforcement. No more ghost touches and you get the best experience.
Also you get the naked Nexus look on front without logo.
Best device I had in years and trust me I had a lot, including Nexus 5.

I'm holding on removing the ASF for now since I have to order the glass screen protector which takes about 4weeks to arrive from hongkong.

i just have one more question,
is there any difference in the z ultra GPe and the regular Z ultra?
is it only the stock android? if yes, can u get the stock android for the regular version of z ultra?
Moto 360 2nd Gen (2015): A couple days ago I got in a skateboard accident going down à hill. Lucky I didn't break any bones ... but I did scratch and scuff the screen on my Brand new Moto 360 (2015) when I hit the ground. Is there anyway to fix it myself or get it fixed by Motorola and if so does it cost or could I get fixed it for free under their warranty? Thank You
Accidental damages are not covered by warranty. Get squaretrade if you are still within the first 30 days of ur purchase.

I also found there are tempered glass screen protectors for the watch. I bought one, hit my watch climbing out of the rafters, chipped the screen protector, took it off and bought a new one. They are like $6 on Amazon. Works well and does not affect touch screen.
I want to refresh this thread cause I manage do scratch my display also. Is there a way to polish or repair it somehow? It's not on warranty anymore.

Hi guys,
I got the 360 2nd gen 42mm off of ebay and while it works the seller did not mention the scratches on the glass and covered it with a screen protector so it will not show on the pics. Well, I love the watch but the scratches do really bug me. I did order a black replacement for the screen and since the watch is a few years old I did order a replacement battery too. I am pretty handy with this stuff and love to mess with electronics but I have one question about the screen replacement. The display and the digitizer comes with the inner housing which is great, but after watching a few disassembly videos on YT, I did notice the replacement does not have the outer ring of the screen so I have to reuse it from the original one. So my question is, it is held with glue or it just clicks on the outside of the frame of the replacement (I mean that black ring from the pic)? Thanks
PS: I know the 360 is old but I just loved the design, in November I got the TicWatch E which is better in ways but just had to get the black 360 2nd gen and love it so much, It replaced my TicWatch which became my gym watch lol.
In 2019, i still love the watch. The hardware is still capable the only thing is we need xda developers to do something for wear os...develop custom kernels and roms which would make smartwatches more efficient! Hoping that someday wear os development will start.
