I am running I545VRUEMJ7 and was wondering if I'd use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2441441 to install Safestrap on my device. Also, what version would I use? v 3.71?
The only other concern I have is that I have Xposed Framework installed on my device, so should I completely uninstall it before trying to install Safestrap?
I do have root access already, but if there is any other do's and don'ts please let me know!
Thank you!

Hi,
I have just installed TowelRoot and SuperSU.
I am looking to keep my stock verizon rom, but install a better kernel (any suggestions appreciated). Is this possible? if yes, what are the steps?
Thanks!
Quick answer - only if your phone. hasn't taken any updates, needs to still be on mdk to install custom kernels
Ugh ok, not on MDK anymore... so Safestrap is basically only good for installing rom... correct?
Correct
I have a question to go with that...If you can't install a custom kernel can you still tweak the stock one?
I am having a hard time finding the correct steps to root then install a recovery then install cyanogen mod or whatever ROM works the best for the S4 for stock android steps.
What it be possible for someone to please post the correct steps in doing all that so I do not mess my phone up? And having the correct links in the steps for me to download the correct software would be also very helpful. Thanks so much in advance

We need more details about your phone, before we give you instructions on how to root & flash it.
What bootloader are you on? If you have a new Samsung Galaxy S4 or accepted an OTA update you cannot install Cyanogen Mod. CM ROMS only works on an MDK bootloader with the loki hack.
If you have a newer S4 or accepted an OTA then you'll have to use Safestrap to install touchwiz based roms. (Although I think there is a safestrap GPE ROM out there)

Do you mean NK1? From the Verizon site it seems the NK1 is the latest update http://www.verizonwireless.com/dam/support/pdf/system_update/benefits-galaxys4-12-1-14.pdf
Here's a link on XDA on how to root the NK1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-to-root-i545vrufnk1-4-4-2-12-1-2014-t2959613
Here's the link to GPE ROM for SafeStrap I would read this thread thoroughly before even attempting to flash it, not sure if it works on the NK1 bootloader. http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ow-to-install-aosp-s4-google-edition-t2817708

There is no way at this time (and may never be) to install a custom recovery whether it is CWM or TWRP on bootloaders newer than MDK. You can root these phones but that's about it. Look into running safestrap if you want to run a custom rom (TW based only).

No, however there is SafeStrap. This would be your best bet for custom roms for the time being, granted they must be compatible. They are still working on SS so keep an eye one it as they are trying to make it so you can flash any rom.
I was wondering i just gained root on my Verizon Galaxy s4 running lollipop OC1 using king-root can i install safestrap

I don't believe it will install.
Hi I have a SCH-i545 rooted 4.4.2, I installed hyperdrive with safestrap, and I want to re install stock of 5.0.1.
What stock rom would I install?
Would I keep Safestrap?
Would I be able to re root?
How do I know if my bootloader is unlocked?
Mad props to anyone who helps me get playing on the new pokemon patch.
