I rooted my phone, installed whatsapp and it was
working fine, then i installed some other root requiring
apps.. ( I UNINSTALLED MOTO CARE).it wss still fine, i
made a CWM recovery backup... had to factory reset
for some reasons so before doing it i created an APK
+DATA backup with MyBackup Pro performed reset and
restored the whatsapp backup but found it saying that
"Your Version of WhatsApp got obsolete on Dec,2014
your current device date is Sep,2014" cleared data
reinstalled app, same problem. Did a factory reset,
same problem... Finally restored the CWM backup
WhatsApp works now but if i clear data or reinstall i
get same problem. So I have time till the next version
comes out. Is there any way to fix it without restoring
stock firmware. I think some root requiring apps
messed up with the date and time or Whatsapp.

I guess this goes beyond the Defy forums...
I have a Motorola Defy with CyanogenMod-7.1.0-11-Defy on and since about 3 days ago I noticed that it doesn't send SMS'es. At first I didn't care, but today I looked more into it.
The message center is the right one. Wiped the Messaging data, restored it from an earlier backup with Titanium Backup. Wiped the cache partition. Nothing! I even freezed some apps that I recently installed (nothing that might have to do with SMS'es).
Strangely, Handcent SMS sends the messages.
I've had a similar problem some time ago (before using CM7), but that time it was because of the CloclworkMod recovery. After I uninstalled that (not the market app) everything went back to normal. This time the recovery is included in CM7....
Any ideas what should I try?
I have the exact same problem. still haven't figured out a fix short of wiping your data and re-flashing your rom.
In the end I've made a back-up with Titanium Backup, wiped, installed ROM (newer version of CM7) and restored the backup.
Everything seems to work now.
I've recently done a factory reset and now Titanium Backup crashes every time I try and backup/restore an app. It used to work fine but now I've reinstalled it and copied the 'TitaniumBackup' folder (that contains the backups) to where it was, so everything is as it was pre factory reset.
The uninstalled apps show up as normal with a line through, but if I select one it hangs momentarily and I get an error (Unfortunately Titanium Backup has stopped. Report/OK). I've cleared app data and uninstalled/reinstalled TB. This also happens if I select an app that I haven't previously uninstalled, so it's not just having a problem with my backup files.
I have absolutely no idea what could be different and causing this. THanks for any help.
Same problem for me...

Yep, got it thanks.
The End.
Hey guys, I have the ViperX+ 2.0.1 rom, but my problem is not really about the rom itself.
A week ago the ota update got released, so I made a backup and installed t, but as I already expected it there was
the same problem I had before: After loading and adjusting all apps it loads my wallpaper, but after that all apps crash,
so I have to turn the phone off by pressing the power button. This is caused by the app LuckyPatcher. In LuckyPatcher
there's a feature which installs a modded playstore, when I installed it for the first time restarted the device but after booting
all apps kept crashing, so I had to restore a backup, then I changed the modded playstore version and it worked fine.
Now back to the ota update problem: I installed the original play store with luckypatcher and removed the app,
then I installed the update and all apps crashed again, so removing luckypatcher doesn't help anymore
(restored the data via backup again). Have you guys any idea how to fix this, cause my latest backup is a few months old..
Or should I just backup my data and do a full wipe? If yes what should I backup in TWRP (only data or boot too,
cause I don't know which of them contains the broken files), or use something like Titanium Backup. I don't mind if I have to set
all the options and tweaks manually again, I just want to keep my files (music, pics, apps, etc.),
so which way would you recommend me? Thanks in advance

You should wipe / factory reset before you install any ROM. These apps you're loading, how are you loading it ? Through backup or play store ? Is it system apps or downloaded apps ?

By loading apps I mean the usual process after booting the phone, it says ''Android wird aktualisiert'' (Android gets updated).
*edit: I guess fixing the problem would be much more complicated than performing a full wipe, so which way to backup my data (as written in the main post) would you recommend me?

Do a factory reset from TWRP. You will lose your text messages and apps ect. If you don't want to go through the process of re-downloading your apps, you can use titanium backup and backup apps but not app data (not recommended). Flashing roms without doing a wipe/factory reset = hot mess. Unless otherwise said no wipe needed.
Edit just keep check of the Rom discussion to see if anyone has the same problem. Try wiping then install 2.01 make a complete boot then install ota

Hi all !
I need your help because I'm really desperate.
My phone was working fine but I had some error with Handcent application.
I decided to restore a previous nandroid backup (that I had previously successfully restored) but now I've got an "error while restoring data" after a long time working.
Tried to do 3 wipes (data factory, cache, Dalivk), but same issue.
Tried with some other backups, same issue.
I'm really lost....
Is there any way to get me out of this ? :crying:
My phone is now unusable.
When I run the phone after restoring faultly, it asked me my google account, as if it was the first time I was running the phone, and not all applications are installed.
When I try to install missing applications with Google Play, I've got an error, and no way to restore from Titanium Backup, no error but freezes.
Please HELP !
Flash your firmware using Odin or recovery, if the backup is corrupt then it can't be fixed.
Thanks, but this backup was OK last time I've restored it, and I had the same issue with some other recent backups.
It appears that the size was too big, over 2,5GB.
I've restored from a 2,41GB backup and it has worked.
The mistery is why I was able to restore from this backup one time, and now does not work anymore...
