so i was concerened about the Charging contacts on the watch and noticed that there is voltage coming from them, one of them is 1.66 v and the other one is 1.72v.
so i thought that this might wear the contacts out if there is any water between the contacts of water from everytime you wash your hands.
so that is a problem
Supposedly LG issued a fix on a recent update. That would kill the power to the contacts while off the cradle.

Just in case, I rubbed them with some gun oil .

A relative dropped her phone in water and lost touch screen and capacitance buttons. Everything else seems to work. Is there any fix for this, upto and including replacing the screen or should I just tell her to throw it out (or sell it) and buy a new one?
Thanks,
Scnd.
It will survive, don't turn on, get a bag and some silicone jelly bags and do this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGQOhVGFbyk&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Rice works too! Just leave it over night with the battery door, battery, sd card, and sim off.

Just open it up and dry it out. Lift all the clips and clean.
On a fishing trip earlier this year, a friend dropped his in sea water and it took us about a minute to find it. I put it in fresh water to remove the salt. After opening it, I removed all the components and let it dry in the sun for an hour. It was all good again. Still works to this day.

All the above is good advice, but only if done right away after the water incident - if you've left it wet for a while, or put the battery back to test it then you'll need a repair/new phone.
Depending on what else got into the phone along with the water (salt, soap etc.) then corrosion may means things will get worse over time.
Second day owning the phone and it's fallen off. Anyone else have this happen already? Kinda sucks but at the same time I feel relieved because it was annoying
Took mine off. Hated it.

Japanese carriers wanted it.
It's pretty much on every Japan market smartphone. It helps make the phone splash-proof.
I like the idea with wireless charging. If you have to use usb though it sucks lol
Not an iPhone.....
I yanked the usb cover off the first time that I charged the phone..
Tapped from my HTC DNA
Don't see what the big deal is. It prevents dust from coming into my phone and makes it splash proof (not that its ever happens to me). But I see how this can be a downside for docking it with anything. If you like it keep it on... If you don't take it off, not a very hard choice.

hmm i think its because the internation version is waterproof but they decided to keep the flap on verizon?
I yanked mine off with a pair of pliers after I tried messing with it the first time. Aesthetically, no different really.
I heard that this phone is waterproof to ipx5 standards but HTC won't confirm it.

I hate them. And this one specially is horrible I feel like any moment it will be broke off. I keep mine off because it looks horrible with the indent

if u don't like it take it off.
it's bound to fall off eventually..
It is super annoying. But it's for water resistance.
I keep it hanging so I know which side is the bottom when I blindly reach for it. When I go near water I'm sure to close it. And when dust approaches I whip out a can of compressed air to blow it away.
it makes perfect sense because it comes with wireless charging so they close up the wired connection charge to prevent dust and stuff from getting in the USB port... I only remove it when I have to load something in fastboot/ transfer files... I could see it being annoying if you always had to use it to charge but the battery lasts me fine every day so far so I'm not reaching to bump charge very often
Mine didn't last very long. Broke off just the other day. No big deal.
I don't really have an issue with the flap. It gets annoying at times, but it doesn't seem like it will fall off on it's own, so ill keep it.
Mine broke in half the other day when I was opening it. Had to get some pliers to pull the remaining piece off.
Mine snapped off too. So I took the needle nose pliers and pulled it out but the back cover separated and now it creeks.

My first DNA died after five days. Just went black and would not respond to the reset. I took it back for exchange. The funny part was the douchebag at the counter said that they might not be able exchange it because it had physical damage. I was like wtf? That thing has been babied. He pointed out the missing door for the usb! Uhmmm....let me talk to your manager dude. In the end it didn't matter but was entertaining.
Japanese carriers wanted it.
This may be more appropriate in the accessories forum, but i have a general question about HTC one and magnets. I'm thinking of potentially storing the one in a pouch that uses magnets to close, and i'm worried that may damage the phone somehow. anyone aware/know if magnets can be harmful to our phones?
no
No it should not. The only thing that it might interfere with is the internal compass, but unless you're always in Compass Mode in google maps, this shouldn't be a problem. I use this with my One X and I've never had a problem with magnetic interference.

No, I'm glad we moved away from the old school HDD like the old iPod videos lol if you ran to hard it would skip
it's not harmful to your phone in this way. strong magnetic is harmful to any electronic equipment , but the pouch 's magnetic can not hurt any phone, maybe just can stop quartz watch.
I sometimes work in an elecrophysiology suite at a hospital where they use mini mri magnets to create a map of hearts. Anyway, these aren't the kind that will suck in oxygen tanks, but when I walk by the metal clip on my badge flies off my pocket. Long story short we have been told that the magnets will drain your phones battery quicker, I don't know the exact mechanism and I've only seen it on my company blackberry where im in a case for 3-4h and my battery goes dead.
My wallet/money clip has a fairly weak magnet and I tend to set my phone directly on the magnetic part of my money clip. I've done that with ny last 3 phones and never had an issue. One of the phones was an inspire which was also aluminum. Hope that helps

Hi
having an issue where the aluminium plate around the magnetic charger is lifting up and starting to peel away after 9 months.
I'm not sure if this affects the "waterproofiness" of the phone, its just really annoying as it clicks back in every time i touch it.
Wondering if its happened to anyone else, or if it'd be covered under warranty/insurance? I'm assuming its gonna be classed as normal wear and tear

I've noticed wear & discoloration near my magnetic charging port. I haven't noticed it popping lose, as that may be something you want to have checked! Our one year anniversaries are near assuming you purchased your device during the opening release date for the US. I'll definitely keep a close eye on mine, as I did not purchase additional warranty!
I have a problem with the contacts on the back of the watch, they have a problem with corrosion from the sweat on my wrist, contacted LG but no real answer. Started putting tape over the contacts. (the salt in the sweat turns the first contact black and wont charge.
