[Q] Daydream changes in 4.4.4? - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
On 4.4.2 the deaydream mode allowed to set custom actions. For example, I had a setting for mute sound when in dock (useful in the night). Now on 4.4.4 I don't see how I can do that. Why have they removed it???
Any alternatives for that? Thanks!

My bad. This is done through SmartConnect app and NOT daydream.

True but there doesn't seem to be any way to turn Daydream off any more either.

Settings/display/daydream {on or off}

Blue, red, green (presumably an app could also provide mixed colours).
bought it juz for fun.
pleasantly surprised by the functions it offers.
a good buy definitely. doesnt cost a kidney too.
on my s3 when lightflow is on it activates talk back function when choosing home screen page. and talk back and driving mode are off :S
Yep - thats a bug (not with Lightflow) but elsewhere as this also happens with other apps that require Accessibility function.
Requires root or not?

I cannot seem to get it to work at all? Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Did you guys need to use direct mode?
Root isn't required.
Yes talk back is an android bug in ics that Google seem happy to ignore. Their support even blame the app devs such as ourselves (and the tasker devs) for the issue but will not reply once you challenge them. It's really frustrating!
I hope to get an s3 over the next week or so to see if there are any extra things I van hook into that Samsung have added to ics.
I have one person with the lte version of the phone and it seems that that doesn't work so well as all the colors are messed up. I hope it's a pre production bug.
New version of the app due soon with quite a few additions.

You need select the function from accessability. Untick led functions within settings and that's it. Let me know of that works.
I think the talkback issue is more of a touchwiz issue, as if you change the launcher to Apex there is no problem
Also i have totally removed talkback from my device... And i still habe the same issue.. So im quite sure what else to try

Had the same problem and had to do a factory reset.
Well I managed to pick up and S3 for development.
I've been playing around with the tackback issue. What is working for me at the moment is going into accessibility. Switching "ON" talkback. Then pressing the "settings button at the bottom".
Uncheck every checkbox in the settings.
Then switch talkback OFF again.
Could anyone else see if this helps for them?
New version of lightflow due very soon, just fixing up a few last bits for the s3 with the new version.

Tried the above still have the talkback bug only but it only seems to be touchwiz related i.e when I open folders on a homescreen or go into the homescreen manager. Seems that the bug appeared after I enabled tasker under accessibility settings.
pulsing led
If you turn on or off your s3, you can see the led actually pulsing blue and greenish... I wonder if an app could make the led pulse in the same way for notifications...

[Q] Increase Camera Time-out?

Does anyone know if there is a way to increase the native (4.4.2) camera time-out setting?
I'd like it so my camera app doesn't turn off until I manually close the app, or after ~10 minutes.
You can use the xposed module App Settings to force the screen to stay on when the Camera app is open, that should do the trick

That won't work. It closes itself no matter what. It has it's own built in timer when it stays open.

Ya, I figured it was built-in ?. I was hoping someone out there might have figured out a way around that by now (the camera app has had that same auto close function since at least Jellybean).
I know there are probably ways to open the app (again) by voice, but then, of course, it reverts to default settings, which doesn't help me much if I changed a configuration ...
Bummer. ?

Its been on my "list" but not at the top. I don't encounter this to be an issue for myself, so it hasn't been priority plus I completely forget about it when I have free time. If I get around to it, I'll probably create an xposed module to disable it.

Ya, a module would be really cool for this particular problem.
Any idea if Lollipop's camera is the same?

Lolllipop notification light option

Hi. Currently using a CM12.1 rom which has an option to turn of the charging/notification light in the settings. Does the Z2 lollipop have this?

You mean the stock ROM? If so, then no, it can't. Or at least not one that I know of... Maybe you'll have more luck with root...
Yep. Thanks. Never found an app for root that completely disabled it without exposed.

WatchWake - Keep Screen on While Charging or Debug Now with Brightness Setting

Just what it says it does. My only problem with the Wear24 was keeping the screen on while debugging or charging. This app fixes that problem.
The latest update adds support to change screen brightness while charging. Make sure you grant settings permissions when it asks.

Thanks!! This is the only app that sets my Huawei Watch's brightness lower than system setting.
Is it possible to set ambient brightness lower also?

This changes both modes on the Wear24. I believe there is no way to manually trigger ambient mode, so I don't think I can do much with that. Does the Huawei watch have separate brightness settings? I may get out my Moto360 sport and see how it works on that.

If I'm correct, there is no option to set ambient mode brightness on Huawei Watch, and it's way too bright in my opinion...
Thanks for this. I use Google Pay so I'm required to use a lockscreen on my watch. Debugging apps over cable was a nightmare with constant turning of a screen and unlocking.
I only enabled Screen on while Debugging at first, but the screen won't turn off at all while the app is installed. ADB Debugging is off. Also, when Change Brightness is enabled, it changes the brightness when charging, but then does not set the brightness back to whatever it was after taking it off the charger.

Hey,
The debugging just checks to see if ADB is enabled using:
https://developer.android.com/reference/android/provider/Settings.Global.html#ADB_ENABLED
To stop this behavior, you have to go into the developer settings and turn adb off or swipe away the locked on notification. I'd be welcome to change this if you know of a way to check if an Android device is actively being debugged.
I am not able to replicate the issue with the brightness being reset. I would suggest swiping away the notification if it is active before charging, then adjusting the brightness and placing it on the charger again to see if this fixes it.
Also, the charge functionality will not work on Android 8 devices since background services are not allowed to be started from a receiver like charging. I'd also change this if there is another way.

Play Market don't allow me to install your app - just say I don't have compatible devices. Other Android Wear apps installed fine so I think it can't install because of country restrictions. I am live in Russia, please give access to install your app.

I'm not using any restrictions based on country or device. What device are you trying to install it on? Have you searched for the app on the playstore on your watch?

I tried to install it on Sony Xperia Z5 Premium Dual Phone and Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet. I don't upgraded my Wear24 to Wear OS 2.0 and I cant find Play Store in apps of watches. When I am searching WatchWake on phone or tablet it can't be found but it available to search in browser but can't be install because of incompatible. Other Wear OS apps I installed to phone and after that it was installed to Wear24 by Wear OS app from phone.

Since you haven't updated your Wear24 to 2.0, it will not appear on the play store. I decided not to support Wear 1 on the play store as this requires a mobile app and usually leads to lots of bad reviews from users who install it on their phone and don't see the app and the new method only works half the time which also causes bad reviews. The app should support the watch, but you will have to sideload it. search for "Watchwake apk" and you should be able to find it.

Glad you got it working! Keep in mind leaving the app running may cause burn-in on the Wear24 so I would suggest not leaving it on for long periods of time.

You can with AutoWear. The Brightness setting accepts values between 0 - 255. At night I set it to 51 (watch brightness level 1) and 204 during the day (watch brightness level 3).

On my Wear24, this app works to reduce the brightness of the default blue charging display, but not the actual Ambient mode, which can in fact be triggered manually - after dismissing the default display, just smoosh your palm on the whole screen! (this still works while it's on the charger) - Doing that turns the brightness back up.
Would there be any way to detect when I do it while it's charging and turn the brightness back down where I set it?

there is... you need to be in the game mode to be able to do that but it only works on certain apps. it does not work on home screen and youtube.
1. go to settings and search for "Performance Mode"
2. Change to "Game" mode.
3. Open any app like Instagram. The nav bar now has additional button (Game Tools).
The record option can be found there in the game tools.
