Creaking - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

Anyone have a phone that creaks? Mine stated doing it today, no case since it's got the wireless charging back.

Hello,
What exactly do you mean with creak? I tried it right now, removed the case and applied a little force to the phone like trying to bend it (just like the iPhone 6 bending lol) and it did creak, seems to be the back case. it may be due to the plastic water resistant protection that is being pressed against.

My wife's phone does the same thing with her case on. It's something with her finger near the mic hole.

has anyone dropped gtab?

i figure its only a matter of time before i knock it on the floor. do the skins give any kind of protection or is it too thin? would i be better off getting a leather case that could absorb some of the impact? i wish someone would make an otterbox type skin. something that covers back and the sides and has a lip that sticks up higher than the screen so if its dropped it wont land on the screen.
The skins are fairly thin but will protect from small dings and bumps. Against any kind of drop the cases will provide much better protection.
The skins only help with scratches and small item dings, not dropping the device.
For that kind of protection buy a case with decent edge protection.
Alright thanks. I couldn't tell what thickness they are from the picture. Probably get a skin later on down the road.
dont worry that much, the device is very well built and it will resist 1.2 m falls or so. Get a skin or something for the scratchs and you will be fine as long as the falls are not higher than a desk.
I have dropped it, and the only thing that happens is that the plastic cover gets some hits.

Ya my daughter has dropped mine several times. (13 months old) Have yet to have any issues with it. (No case, just skin on the back)
Nice. Glad to here its pretty well built. I kinda would like a skin with a semi thick rubbery material.
My daughter dropped mine a few times too from about 3ft - no problems with the gtab. Thought I was going to kill her at first, though.
Dropped mine this morning from about 3ft, no problems.
Well that is good to know. I'm hoping that it isn't wasn't too delicate. Man, I still can't wait to get mine.
I dropped mine it didn't make it.
I fell asleep with mine in my lap sitting on the couch with a blanket tossed over me. I woke up and started to get up and the tab slide down the blanket and landed screen down. The tablet was in a folio type case one used for the larger kindle.
I Only explain this the circumstances to show this was not a direct drop to the floor.
The the tablet showed no damage, but the screen is now in operative. When booted the screen is nothing but white. I think that a silicone case may have deflected enough of the shock that the tablet may have survived. The Kindle case only has the loops on the corners to absorb any impact from this type of fall. In any case, they are fragile. I was very surprised that my tablet was in operative after this incident. The tablet still can be accessed with NVflash. and appears to be booting, but nothing on the screen but white. Replacement on the way from the woot deal.
After this incident, I think it will be very hard to protect a tablet from a direct drop to the floor above 1 or 2 feet.
Are you referring to a Kindle DX case? I'm thinking about picking a Kindle case up for my g tablet as well but don't know how it fits.
Yes thats the one. It fits pretty well, but I don't feel it offers much in the way of protection. Even when closed the tablet is very close to the edge of the case.

Clattered to the floor
Yes mine clattered to the floor, but it turned on and worked ok, after a panic attack..
Seems well made, but don't think it would survive a concrete fall as well.
I did notice that when the battery is near discharged, and it won't stay turned on, it seems to corrupt the sdcard if I keep fooling with it to get it to stay on.
I had to reformat to get the framework to stop crashing et.al.. and I did restore from clockwork..

I'm pretty sure he meant that he bought one from the recent Woot! sale as a replacement.
I droped mine...
I dropped mine and broke the glass LCD cover. The screen works fine and the touch works all over the screen, but there are several cracks with some bits missing. Is there a replacement available anywhere?
Dont drop your gtab while its plugged in... i dropped mine not even 3 feet off the side of my bed... onto my carpet floor, landed right on the charger port, and Completly broke it off! u can see it here...

Now im screwed with a 3lb paperweight
I'm not telling you to go out and try this because its dangerous but I dropped my tablet while it was in a swiss gear slip cover kinda thing and I am glad I made a custom aluminium case on the tablet because I had dropped it 18ft LOL...It's 100% working no scratches no joke
I am a musician and I use my G-tab for music charts. I dropped mine from the music stand twice this past weekend during Easter services and no problems whatwoever. I carry it around in a padded backpack and the other day I forgot it was in there and threw it in the back of my truck with my guitars and other gear. I heard a "crunch" sound and I thought, "oh crap". When I checked it it was all good. That's good enough for me.

Problem with official Samsung Galaxy Note 3 S-View Cover

Hey guys,
I got an official S-view cover from ATT store (Black) for my new note 3. I love it except for one major problem. When I fold the cover open around the back and set it down on something like a desk or table. Eventually the phone will sit completely flat against the cover and I am noticing that the cover will engage S-view mode on the phone while it it folded around the back of the phone. This is super annoying, because when its in S-View mode the phone is essentially locked and I can't do anything with it unless I un-fold the cover from around the back. I thought maybe I had a bad cover with super strong magnets or something so I returned it to ATT and bought another one from T-Mobile (This was the advice I got from Samsung support). I having the exact same problem with this one. Now I think its my phone. I can replicate this problem anytime by simply putting pressure on phone the and cover while it is folded around the back. When I hold the phone in my hand with the cover around the back it is not as prevalent because phone usually is not sitting completely flat to the cover (because the cover is still new). Once it breaks in and gets flimsy this will happen all the time completely limiting phone functional while the cover is around the back. I had the an S-View cover on a S4 and it never had this problem. Can any of you guys replicate this issue or do I have a bad phone. Please help, I need to know if I need to exchange my phone. Thanks in advance.

I've got the same problem here. It seems to be an issue of either the little magnet on the bottom of the cover being too strong or the sensor on the phone being too sensitive. Definitely annoying and poorly designed. I don't know of any solution. I just wedge my finger behind the cover to prevent it from tripping, but that's hardly a solution.
Can't help you with this issue.. but I got bought two knock-offs on the web and never experience anything like that. Probably the way it's built with the OEM case.
I have the same problem with my sview case for note 3.
Interesting issue. I have the wireless charging s-view case and I can confirm that this dos not happen with it. I guess that is due to the thicker back cover portion.

[Q] Aluminium plate around magnetic charger peeling away

Hi
having an issue where the aluminium plate around the magnetic charger is lifting up and starting to peel away after 9 months.
I'm not sure if this affects the "waterproofiness" of the phone, its just really annoying as it clicks back in every time i touch it.
Wondering if its happened to anyone else, or if it'd be covered under warranty/insurance? I'm assuming its gonna be classed as normal wear and tear

I've noticed wear & discoloration near my magnetic charging port. I haven't noticed it popping lose, as that may be something you want to have checked! Our one year anniversaries are near assuming you purchased your device during the opening release date for the US. I'll definitely keep a close eye on mine, as I did not purchase additional warranty!

[Q] Any back glass DIY replacement and phone still waterproof?

Dropped z2 yday ;/ it was one of my frenchies who jumped on me, phone fall first on screen, than on back glass and finaly landed in dogs water bowl. took it out right away, screen ok, back glass broken and no visible sign of any water entered.
I want to replace the broken glass deck, but to make it so that phone will still be wateproof.. Anyone have any experiance with that? If so, where did you order back glass and did it come with adhesive coating ..?
Thanks for all answers!

I got mine off of eBay. You need the back glass and new adhesive.
Phone won't be as waterproof anymore, but I've dipped my phone in the sink fora few seconds without harm.

Does this come with adhesive and would you know how if we can retain nfc? I heard changing the back you lose NFC...
Thanks.
It comes with adhesive. But nfc antenna must be unglued from the old back glass. To do that you have to heat up the glass very well so it won't break or torn off.
Heat up the old glass i mean.
hey guys , did anyone succeeded to buy original back glass , and after that phone is again waterproof ? cos some people told me that doesnt matter what back cover i buy even with adhesive , the phone wont be waterproof , only sony can repair it for waterproof again. is that true ?
No man
There are adhesive on the back of glass dont mention about it
You could either buy the plate AND the adhesive thingy (comes separately). Or go my way (slightly risky).
The stock glass plate keeps breaking so I took the measurements and made an Aluminium plate. Then drilled camera holes into it and painted it. Then came the tricky part. I stuck the plate into place using regular epoxy (waterproof) adhesive. You have to be very careful while doing the last part because of obvious reasons tho.
The problem with the adhesive thingy that you get to buy (And also the one that Sony uses in the device) is that although its water proof, it isn't heat resistant. and as we all know how Sony phones heat, the adhesive comes off.

This is very creative and I sure as hell would like to try my hand at it. How thick was the aluminum?
I bet your phone becomes hot as an iron when gaming haha, which is good for your internals because of better heat dissipation. Any adverse effects on mobile reception? wifi? bluetooth? guess NFC is gone haha

Well, I given my z2 to friend to replace battery and few days ago I left my phone in silk for 10 minutes, because it was dirty and no issue here.
@MindfreakBS
What are NFC and Cell reception like since installing the aluminium back plate?
Any deterioration in signal strength / call quality / WiFi / Bluetooth?

Aluminium is a millimetre thick. It does get hot, yeah.
Mobile reception is same (Maybe a tad bit lower, idk), wifi bluetooth work fine. NFC still intact. I fixed it onto the plate in position.
@rubiicon59 that should answer your question too
I was planning to post a tutorial. Haven't been able to take out enough time though.
How about a pic...

What if I want to use a 2-mm thick acrylic as my black plate? Is it possible? Because I am afraid that it will exceed the metal frame of the phone and it will ended up looking terrible:crying:
I agree, I think 1.0mm would be more suitable.
At 2mm, you might get an M4 Aqua kind of look hahaha

I believe that if the broken glass was the only issue, and you use a original replacement part, or decent adhesive tape to glue them back together, you'll have no problem. I've had the same issue few weeks ago, replaced the screen and the phone didn't experienced any problem when submerged.
Do anyone now where can I get an official or a good quality back glass for my xperia z2, I broke the original one but i don't want to replace with one without any quality.
buy a nice "glue" to fix that..

Not #bendgate but #crackgate

Well I may be the first to find a problem with the phone body, my wife and I both have cracks in the corners of our phones top side in the corners.
Phone has never been dropped, back pocket carry. Pressure test shows not sealed water resistant any longer.
I'm guessing the screen was faced inward, warming the glue while the chassis was flexing then eventually causing a crack in the plastic from the glass pushing up into it?
But lets not start jumping to hashtag conclusions. I would get creative and mask off the necessary areas and grab a can of plasti-dip.
jk or not.
One person's phone, "Ok...", but TWO? -From the same household?
What's the deal? Sorry, but I need a bit more info on both of your phone care /use practices before I make this an "official concern".
That's weird. I just use the Verizon TPU case and I've dropped mine a few times, but no damages. I inspected all around my phone for any similar damages to yours, but I have none.
Is that crack a big deal where it prevents the phone from normally functioning?
Mine has a small crack in the plastic corner like yours, although mine is from a fall. For some unknown reason the VZ holster / case set doesn't cover the corner properly. Moved to a different case now. It does not affect functionality or water tightness, but still annoying.

Hm, it causes a normal water tight seal to leak.
Well that's not very good news.
