Hi,
I recently bought a LG G2 MINI (D620r). I have a few questions:
1) I set my brightness to (let's say) 25%, and after reboot it returns to 100%.
2) Is there a way to change a theme without that LG's SmartWorld bloatware?
3) Is there a way to disable shortcuts for back buttons (down for camera, up for memo)?
4) When I press the home button and pull up, the "recommended apps" launches (google now and quick memo). Can these be changed?
If possible, can any of above be done without root?
Also, some questions about root (I tried searching, but I still don't get it quite well):
5) If I got it right: rooting "triggers" RTS?
6) Is RCT something like Samsung's Knox? Is it hardware or software-based?
7) Can RCT be (safely) reverted?
8) Does (again, like KNOX) RCT void warranty?
9) Best root method?
I know there are a few n00bish questions, but I tried searching and still haven't got a unambiguous conclusion

HI. The phone is rooted with CheckRom RevolutionHD3.1.1 and Hellcat kernel 2.6.35. I am searching for a solution on the following issue:
I am unable to secure (lock screen) with a pin/pw/or pattern.
Action done: In settings->location &security->setup screen lock .... (I select appropriate option to secure with either pin/pattern/pw (tried it all)..
Test #1: reboot phone
Test #2: screen lock (15sec, 1m, etc).. leave the phone idle
Test #3: downloaded Widget Locker (select advance settings to 'retain system keyguard')
All tested and have failed to request a PIN # or Pattern to access the phone.
The guy who sold me this phone said it is due to the phone being rooted/rom?! Is this true?? IF yes, is there a fix to this issue?
PLEASE advise. thanks!
Did you get phone with that ROM installed already?
Maybe try to wipe data and reflash the ROM clean and fresh (i.e. also format /system in CWM before applying the .ZIP to install the ROM).
Yes, I rec'd phone with that ROM installed.
Also, this is all new to me (switched from Iphone Jailbreak world to Android App).
Is there a site with simple instructions on how to restore back to original w/o bricking the phone (unsure if its the same as iphone)? Searched all youtube, and so far non-english speakers (italian vids). Other US vids isn't too clear with instructions.
Also, there's so many ROMs and Kernels to choose from.. Which one is the best one out there that is stable? Unsure if switching ROMs will damage the system so wanted to make sure I'm doing this right.
Thanks again for the quick response!! Appreciate it!!!
This thread should serve for all stock ROM needs, IIRC also holds the (PC) program ("Odin") used to flash the ROMs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
I hear you on the iOS->Android transition, was the same me.
As long as you stick to a few simple rules (also outlined in the thread above) you can't really brick the S2.
Just never break the bootloaders, as long as the bootloaders are OK, you can always go to download mode and flash a new stock ROM.
"Download Mode" is kind of what "DFU Mode" is on the iPhone - just way more reliable
Could somebody help me, please?
I did a successful (?) rooting - at least the Terminal accepts the su command - with condi's AiO-tool on my Tablet S (R1a) and apparently have now the rooted R5a. That would be perfect, but the Market was lost (other apps as well, never mind), so I am not able to download/install anything (while on desktop PC appears the Tablet among my others, letting apparently the install).
What can I do? I tried with AiO to push the Standard Market (the older one), but at the end of process the tool stopped with failure; I think the same would happen with the other three Markets.
And another general question: After the mentioned upgrade the tab keeps offering the OTA upgrade to R5a though the system IS R5a already... What would happen if one accepted this upgrade? Final heaven, lost root, broken system or - brick?

Hi,
Have you wiped your device after flash done?
You have update notification because incremental value is lowered (to give you possibility of reflashing/downgrading etc.).
You can disable notifications via AiO tweaks.
If you will accept update - you will loose root and be unrootable.

Thank you so mach for the answer! - I couldn't ask you in your developer thread because I am noob...
So right away the noobest question: What does by Tablet S "whipe" mean (I haven't did it)? I know it quite well with my phones and Samsung tab, but there is CWM Recovery, and here something miserable with 3 lines... maybe its 3rd choice, Factory Reset? Or, should my first attempt be installing the CWM Rec?
What is the right way? After rooting with your AiO, directly your new [FLASHER] and...? When and how that "notification update"? And after that all the wiping, or...?
Believe me, I were not alone with basic questions. Sorry, anyway. And for my Hungarian English, too...

CWM Recovery is not compatible with the Sony Tablet S, Sony Tablet P, or Xperia Tablet S. Do not attempt to install it.
"Wipe" means to reset the tablet to factory and erase all user data. One way to do it is to go to Settings > Backup & reset, then select Factory data reset. Another (better) way is boot the tablet into Recovery Mode, select "3. Reset to factory settings.", and then select "Yes -- delete all user data". WARNING! All installed user apps and data will be erased. You will need to reinstall the user apps. You will not (should not) lose root access.
To boot the tablet into Recovery Mode, completely POWER OFF the tablet, then press and continuously hold the VOL+ button, then momentarily press the POWER button. Release the VOL+ button when the System Recovery screen is displayed.
To eliminate the OTA update notifications, run Condi's S.onyTablet.S [ALLinONE] v5.3 tool. From its Main Menu, select "4 * Tweaks and Mods [SUBMENU]", then select "3 Toggle OTA system updates and notifications [enable/disable]". Follow prompts.
Big thanx to both of you!!!
Only one holy "wipe" and new worlds are opened! I could not think that so simply can be solved an apparently sad situation! Halleluyah, Lord condi and Sir Cat McGowan! It was a happy Christmas Eve closing action - and I wish you also
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
I ordered my Kyocera Hydro Icon from Freedompop and got it yesterday. I tried Root Genius, which seemed to work (by which I mean it asks me if I want to give root access to apps that need it, but does not allow user of the "su" command in Terminal Emulator). I then used a root app uninstaller and uninstalled a couple very harmless seeming things that the app said was safe to remove. Various forums said safe to remove. However, after doing that I'm now on a boot loop.
I did a factory reset from the boot menu (hold buttons, go to wipe data, etc.). However, my system still has the same issue and reboots unless I'm in Airplane mode (for the record, many people have reported this, and it's pretty obvious that some company triggers a reboot remotely when they don't like what they see on your phone, and that's why disconnecting prevents reboot). There were some Freedompop apps I uninstalled before, and they are still uninstalled after factory reset. I probably can't even return the phone because the KingoRoot app is installed and I can't remove it. I installed SuperSU, not sure exactly how it works, but it keeps telling me it wants to update and I can't go out of airplane mode to use the Internet.
So, after spending over 24 hours straight on this problem, frustrated the entire time, I found my way here. Though I was skeptical (having had much bad luck so far), I thought maybe a stock ROM would work. However, all links to any kind of ROM for this device on these forums were dead.
My understanding is the source was released for this device here:
tiny url .c om / ppbnlwo (used tinyurl to make it shorter so I could post it; goes to Kyocera Developer Support Downloads)
I'd like to know the following:
1) Will a ROM fix my device, removing Kinguser and all root-related changes I made?
2) Is there a ROM that someone can provide me with (along with instructions hopefully) to help me with this?
Thank you.
Hi there,
I bought a Rogers LGH831 LG G5 off ebay which has 10h preinstalled. It boots up into the startup wizard but upon getting to the google account login it asks for a previously used google account on this device to unlock it.
I have tried some tricks I've found online to get around this, but it seems that 10h has patched these? I can't enable unknown sources (greyed out). I can't click the Home button in the touch assistant (popup says "Complete setup to continue."). If I get to the browser through various accessibility options and select "Share", nothing happens. Without access to any of these I don't think I can get to the main settings menu to try a factory reset.
Booting to the factory reset menu via volume down+power works, but after doing a reset this way, it still asks for a previously used Google account.
I tried LG UP Store 1.14, which detects the device, but I get error 8224 when I try to flash it with the Rogers LDZ I found, H83110d_00_0504.kdz. I'm assuming that LG UP doesn't let you downgrade? However I haven't found any more details about error 8224 other than a suggestion to "try another version of LGUP". When I tried LG UP Lab 1.10, the device detects as "unknown" and doesn't let me try flashing.
I'm at a loss now... did I pay for a brick that I really can't get into? I would love to hear any suggestions about how to get around factory reset protection, or how to downgrade to 10d so that the known workarounds to reset protection can be used.
Thanks!
-Levi
Reboot into Recovery mode (hold Home, Volume Up, and Power, releasing Power when you see the device turn on/reboot).
Perform a Factory Reset (press Volume Down until wipe data/factory reset is selected, press Power, scroll down to Yes -- delete all user data and press Power again).
Proceed through the device Setup Wizard until it prompts you for the Google account credentials.
For a Samsung device, save this RootJunky APK onto a USB flash drive, and connect it to the device via OTG.
For LG:
Back up, connect to Wi-Fi, then back up again and hit Accessibility (Yes to the prompt that follows).
Turn "Switch Access" on, then enter its Settings and set a key for Overview, such as Volume Down.
Back out to Accessibility again, go to Vision → Talkback → Settings → Privacy Policy to open the browser, and download the APK linked above (rootjunkysdl.com → Apps).
Press the key you set up for Overview, hit Dual Window, and select the file browser.
When the File Explorer launches, browse to and tap the APK to install it. When you get the prompt about unknown sources, choose the Settings option and enable the Unknown Sources option.
Complete the install and choose to Open the application, which will open Settings.
For LG:
Add a new user account under Users, switch to it and add your own Google account via Setup, then switch back to the main user (Owner) from Settings → Users, and back out from there to the main Settings.
Go to Backup and Reset and do a Factory Data Reset. As per my other answer, this will remove FRP from the device.
The APK in (4) is very simple and just opens Settings, you could use any other that does the same if you don't want to trust that source.

Can't do this as when I get to Unknown Sources it is greyed out.
I managed to fix the issue however, I used LG Flash Tool (much older than LGUP) to specify the DLL for flashing and get the 10d kdz file flashed. From there I was able to perform a similar process to the above but I had to force close and disable the google account manager and force close the setup wizard.. at that point Unknown Sources became toggleable. Then I installed an APK that allowed intent launching, and another older version of the google account manager that allowed me to target an intent that led to doing a web sign-in with my Google account.
After all that, I was granted access to the device and was able to Factory Reset removing the FRP.
My issue now (though a much smaller issue compared to the device being a paperweight) is that I am not being offered the upgrade to 10h. I'm still on 10d and no updates are available through Settings->About.
I can't seem to find a 10h kdz anywhere... might just wait until CM14.1 or CMRemix are stable enough for daily use.

Unfortunately on the H831 (Canadian variant), there's still no root yet, and the bootloader is locked. So no flashing CM.

I've been reading in this thread, I just need to know about the older version of google accounts manager. I have the 10d kdz, and an intent launcher, just need the older version of the account manager now. Anyone?

Where is the older version of accounts mangler? And do I need an OTG dongle to do this?

which DLL file did you use and also what version of flash tool were you using?
https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-rs988-firmwares/ this is the 10h kdz
I have LG G5 H831 and none of the methods for bypassing FRP work for me. The unknown sources stay grayed out. I have marshmallow firmware for H831 but it always stops on 11% while using LGUP. Any help would be appreciated
So i just got my mate 10 and i want help in understanding things, plz?
- notification center and icons are very big and close, is there a way to decrease their sizes ? (with or without root), i come from AOSP and things look so huge on this phone.
- is it possible to unlink the ringtone and notification volume ?
- is it possible to wake the phone with "ok google" ? (with or without root)
- is it possible to get google lens in google photos ? (i guess that requires to change the device ID in the boot file?)
- will adding a launcher like nova cause troubles with widgets and other EMUI functions?
- is it possible to adjust the swiping and tapping on the fingerprint sensor to customize what they do?
- is there a faster way to install update on the phone? maybe through pc or another source because huawei server are very slow and takes a lot of time.
- Also just discovered, that the phone supports either 2 simcards or 1 sim and a microSD right ?
Root questions:
I m used to rooting and flashing twrp and so on, but i want to ask before messing with my huawei:
- is it easy to brick the phone?
- So if i rooted the phone. will i still receive updates? and if yes, would that just remove the root or brick my phone?
- I read so many users re-brand their phones because chinese roms or so have more options? what are these options? and does it worth it? can the language be changed to English if on chinese rebranding?
- The rooting will void warranty, but is it possible to unroot, and have it back fresh, if an issue was discovered later?
- if you have your phone rooted, what apps are using that requires root?
- if i want to rebrand my phone one day, is my only source funkyhuawei ? or it can be done through twrp, flashing, like any other rom on any regular phone ?
so far those thank you very much for taking time to read and respond
