Hi
I'm currently experiencing the issues as per this thread: http://community.koodomobile.com/koodo/topics/samsung_galaxy_s4_4_4_2_connectivity_issue
Basically, I cannot use LTE mode as the signal will drop out and I will need to reboot the phone, I have to go back down to 3G for the signal to be stable. I am currently on KitKat 4.4.4 and still experiencing this problem on my Galaxy Alpha.
Any way to resolve this?
this is maybe a sim card problem? If phone replacement and software update do not help this might be the trick?could not read the whole thread but maybe this helps?
got it working, downloaded the stock firmware off sammobile.com and flashed it. works alright now.
cheers
maybe you have modem like me without LTE support
hmm i'm still experiencing issues. I'm almost certain this is a firmware issue and nothing to do with sim cards or the device itself.
Not sure what to make of it really.
Does it happen with an untouched firmware (or resetted?). An app that does the trouble?

Untouched firmware, perhaps I should reset my phone and start from scratch. That may resolve. No real app that does the trouble. The issue happens when 4G reception is low and it goes on to 3G reception or 3G reception going into a 4G area. I think that is what triggers it.

Im not exactly sure when it started but i just noticed it a few days ago. Im currently on hsdpa and my dl speed is 112kb!! That's BARELY faster than edge im not sure if its my rom but I just reflashed and updated this morning and nothing. It doesn't matter if its edge, 3g or hsdpa, the speeds never increase! The phone runs normal when connected to wifi tho. 7.5mbps ...not sure if it makes a difference but im on simple mobile
Im running axura 2.2.7.1
Baseband is t959uvka6
Kernal version is 2.6.32.9
Any help is greatly appreciated guys!
Some times there are problems with the cell towers that cause your problem.

Take a drive and see if signal improves. If it does then u know its your area. If not then you may have a bigger issue at hand.

Dude definitely you are in a bad reception area cos I use simple mobile too and get a constant 3.5- 4 mbps..
Just in case make sure you are not data throttled.

Data throttled? I've been in at least 6 or 7 different areas arouns central fl n everywhere I go its the same story. Maybe a hardware issue somehow? Phones never been dropped or anything though.

Data throttled, meaning you have gone over your 5gb cap and tmo throttles your service. I don't think that is the issue though, as throttle speeds are way slower than Edge. I doubt it's a hardware issue too. I would flash a different ROM. Failing that, Odin to stock. If that still doesn't fix you, call tech support and if they can't help you, they'll replace your device for you.
a - data cap reached, call t-mobile and inquire
b - put your phone in flight mode, reboot, turn flight mode off... better?
I can vouch for axura 2.2.7.1 and I had INCREDIBLE d/load speeds with the newer modem.
Anyone else experiencing 4g issues after update? When I'm in areas where I used to have strong 4g, I'm getting weak 2g now. Also, sometimes WiFi signal strong but pages load slow and switching from WiFi to tmo network causes no data connectivity. Stupid updates grrr

Same here. Kind of wish I could go back to how I got it out of the box. After the update I get a lot of 2G signal where before I would get 4G nearly always. At least the latest update fixed the issue of not being able to turn the phone off. It did for me at least.
I have seen that as well and suspecting the new radio in that latest update. in many cases, my phone get stuck in 2G

I have not seen any difference. Do you have a 128kb sim card?
Which update is this? I haven't had an update for a while now.
I work at T-Mobile. Anytime I have seen an issue was because it was not a new 3G-G sim.
that is true my brother updated his phone and has been having service problems ever since sometimes even no service at all. He has baseband that ends in .08 and I have the one that ends in .07 so mine has been ok.
personally the reception on my s3 is horrible. I live in the US and use my s3 on at&T's network. I constantly see 1 bar of service. I never noticed such problems with my s1 or s2, but don't have them any longer to really compare.. can anyone else give feedback on how the reception on their s3 is?

Which modem are you on. Please try DXLF3 if you're not on that modem yet.
Mine was really bad with Stock ROM (ALE8) and provider-pushed APN settings. Kept jumping from antenna to antenna and fell back to Edge all the time.
Removing the proxy server from the APN settings helped with the antenna jumping
Flashing eastern modems (particularly DXLF3) fixed the' falling back to edge' problem. In fact my connectivity is now as good as the S1 with it's Hong-Kong modem; Working HSPA throughout the forest (daily dog-walk) even if often one or zero bars.
The S1 had a terrible stock modem too at the beginning.
Hi all,
Has anyone updated their Orange S3 to 4.1.2 through KIES? Does it include any bloatware or anything useful (unlikely).
Also, has anyone taken a dump of the FW?
Just wondering as I have not seen much coverage of this other than that it has been released, eventually.
Cheers

I think most people on here will have flashed the unbranded firmware to be honest.
Could be wrong though....

Probably...
You are probably right, I am running the latest and greatest stock release, but live in hope that Orange will include Signal Boost in an update, one day.

I doubt EE will go to the trouble of a bespoke radio firmware for their network, the XXELLA modem is working fine for me on EE with 12Mbps speed recorded on occasion (why bother with 4G when H+ is delivering that?).
I'd suggest you try flashing a few of the 4.1.2 radio variants to see if your signal improves, but this may also decrease your battery life.

Orange Signal Boost is a UMA application for Orange -- it allows you to make/receive calls / SMS over wifi when you have no signal. It was in the GS2, but not in the GS3, unfortunately. I was really hoping it would come out as well as I have practically no signal where I live unless I am right next to a window.

Likewise, it is a shocking oversight that they have not brought this out for the S3. I have to stand in my kitchen if I want to use my phone! Sometimes that doesn't work either, so I have an excuse to go to the pub (I get signal there!).
Indeed
XXELLA does give good performance and I have tried modems galore, but when there are many houses between you and the base stations sometimes you just need some help!
On a slightly off topic note has anyone tried the BT Smartalk app? Although its just for outgoing calls its pretty handy for making calls against your BT allowance over WIFI.
If only we could have a seamless phone / wifi handover for calls.....I live in hope (and know that its been punted as a future before)
And I completely agree about the Signal Boost UMA side of things, its was super handy in my S2 when I occasionally ran a stock ROM or installed while rooted, plus I could make calls on the WIFI on the Underground in London, I do miss it!

Using Jio and doesn't have any such issue. But I have noticed one thing. Internet speed becomes slow sometimes even with 4G+ sign. It looks as if miui throttles internet speed occasionally. But overall, I am getting quite good network reception.

Don't know if this was for the same reason, but I was experiencing signal drops but only when I was home. i think it was because of wifi calling. Disabling wifi calling and voice over LTE improved the situation. Again, Signal was fine when I was outside. Only when I was home. Use the following codes (in phone app) to switch between turning them on and off. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the update. Try flashing the entire firmware maybe?. After flashing firmware, supposedly rebooting into recovery and then into system works better.

Actually I have flashed fastboot Rom and my device is boot loader locked.
