Yes, as soon as you have the new kitkat hboot (you get that when you update to kitkat via ota), it is totally safe. I wouldn't release it if I had some critical issues with it. And besides, this kernel is mainly supporting stock sense 5.5

Looks as though both cores are sucessfully sticking when you chamge from default values. Whatever you did fixed it. Running nicely so far. I'm curious as to what govenor and scheduler you use.

Ok unfortunately something is keeping my from device going into deepsleep since flashing v3. I left my phone at home on accident and it didn't sleep even a second causing severe drain. Going to reflash tomorrow and leave it stock v3. Perhaps there is a setting I changed that caused it. I did turn on multicore power saving for the first time in trixster mod. Any chance someone else is having a similar issue? The battery drain would be quite noticeable.

I'm pretty sure it's caused by the new Google play services. Try disabling OK Google detection, it fixed the problem for me.

Well I decided to do a restore of stock rom and give v3 another try. Unfortunately same results. Device would not sleep at all. I'm really bummed as I was hoping to use this kernel. Its likely to be an issue with my device or perhaps some setting. Please don't think I'm blaming your kernel, I'm really happy we have any development at all. For now stock kernel for me, which I get really good battery results with anyways.

I had these battery issues later too, even with Google now turned off, but then I tried turning off location, wiping cache and dalvik and rebooting and It totally fixed the issue..

Turns out it was not your kernel after all that was keeping my device from sleeping (I'm sure you knew that though). I've spent the better part of a week trying to figure it out but BBS app helped me figure out it was some google play service issue that refused to let my phone deep sleep. Going tto download and retry your kernel again tonight. So happy!

Stock Kitkat Rom
Hi,
I've a HTC Desire 601 with 4.2.2 (ES Orange) and I want to flash the Stock Rom 4.4.2 but I don't know where to download and what steps I need to do that.
Some months ago I got to install the Philz CWM, but nothing more.
Can someone help me?

Help with my EVO 3D

Hi,
I have been reading this section for sometime and my friend has ask me to fix his phone. He owns an Evo 3D and it has all this Vodafone bloatware all over phone and would like to remove it. All he complains is about how bad that Rom is and of.lags the phone badly. He would most likely like to continue using HTC Sense and is there any generic HTC Rom that is available ?Also the Vodafone logo on bootup on his 3D. Now as far as I know he is running on Android 2.3.4 and the hwboot is 1.49 I think. S-Off is also on so I would like how to turn it off.
Thanks

CleanROM is one of the best Sense based ROMs. Fast and battery lasts a long time.
Well does it matter if I flash a cdma Rom with a gsm EVO 3D?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Yes it matters.
We're comin from a pure power source.
Yes, it matters, because the CDMA ROMs will not work on the GSM phone and could potentially brick the phone, don't even try it.
I'm on Vodafone too, and luckily I didn't get any of the bloatware crap like the start up animation and stuff, thank god. At the moment I'm using virtuous quattro ICS Sense 3.6 ROM and it's working great, smooth, no bugs (from what I can tell) and it's not caused any problems. The only bad thing is the camera and USB storage doesn't work within the ROM at the moment, so to mount your SD card you've gotta have revolutionary CWM 4.0.1.4.
Have fun.
Can you link me to a guide on rooting this phone please?
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
It depends on what hboot version the phone has. But either way, all the rooting guides are in the stickies in the Development section, just like I said in the second post of this thread.
I got hands on my friends phone and its using a hwboot 1.49.0013. I can't seem to see any threads on rooting and turning s off for this phone. Do I need to downgrade the Hwboot in order to get root and S off?

Contact customer support. It will cost money though. If you can not get any life into your device I am not sure you have any other options

Completely correct. If you flash the wrong hboot, and the Flyer won't power on, no charging lights, can't get into hboot, recovery, and not recognized by adb, you are pretty much screwed.
That is why you need to be extremely careful when flashing things like hboot and recovery. Quadruple check everything before you do it.

Why are you digging up old threads, and adding your own issue (unrelated question) to them? The one thread you created was enough. Cross posting is against the rules, and isn't going to get you an answer any faster.

Patience or bricking your phone are the options atm.

[Q] Flashing kernel from recovery

Since I'm stuck on Windows 8.1 Blue preview I'm unable to use fastboot, so I've done a bit of googling.
I found this utility from the HTC One forums which apparently works for Qualcomm devices only, so surely it should work for us?
Anyway I'll go and test it and will report back, but I just wanted to say, IF YOU WANT TO KEEP FASTBOOT/ADB WORKING, DON'T UPDATE TO WINDOWS BLUE
EDIT: I've read further and it seems like the mmcblk0p for the utility may be different for the Desire X. I'll check it out.
I asked for some more information on the thread you found and will see if it's possible making this working for our device.
cheers mate, it sure would make life a lot easier for noobs.... and those fallen into the Windows 8.1 trap

Yes, you are right.
Actually there is some write protection rights which do not let anything run from recovery partition to write on boot partition. However, it is not completely related to S-OFF.
However, My bro had HTC explorer low end phone. It had S-ON and still they could flash boot img from recovery without any issues.
HTC is unpredictable these days.
But why does it work for HTC One then?

must be an exploit. Or HTC are licking the feet of their prime flagship customers. Thats actually quite unfair why they make strange decisions.
Sense lite, removing HTC swipe, JB 4.1.1 STILL, and many shady decisions are the reason why they dont have many more years as a big company. Shame. They were the pioneers and now the chasing pack.

The stock kernel has the /system partition write protected which is why changes to the system dont stick through reboot. To disable this write protection follow the instructions here.

That's a pretty clean ROM, doesn't have gapps. Just the basic stuff with a few tweaks

It depends, slimkat is a better looking Rom with better battery, performance, and more features, but there are quite a few bugs, like the fact that the camera is crap and you can't watch videos outside of YouTube without the help of a third party app. My advice is stick with sense 6 until we get a Rom without bugs
