The stock kernel has the /system partition write protected which is why changes to the system dont stick through reboot. To disable this write protection follow the instructions here.

but is it possible to put the original HTC WWE rom on the AT&T device?

with stock I would just delete data and uninstall updates then hide it.

Anyone from you guys send me a link for custom rom of htc desire 610 at and t .
I have bootloader unlocked and twrp installed but keep in mind that i dont need a buggy rom

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3149308

Lol

That's a pretty clean ROM, doesn't have gapps. Just the basic stuff with a few tweaks

So do you prefer for me ?
Sense 6 is better or this one ?
---------- Post added at 12:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:24 PM ----------
And is it compatible with my htc desire 610 at and t ?

It depends, slimkat is a better looking Rom with better battery, performance, and more features, but there are quite a few bugs, like the fact that the camera is crap and you can't watch videos outside of YouTube without the help of a third party app. My advice is stick with sense 6 until we get a Rom without bugs

Can his ROM in the OP be flashed as an "update" with the stock recovery (by renaming it, etc.) ?

That'll be great but we don't actually need the S-OFF.
Everything should be possible through the Recovery.
Example is with the MT3G 1.2/LE device.
I don't think they have S-OFF and it's been almost two years.
There is an ENG bootloader but it disables the touchscreen for some reason.
Could you send me PMs ? I have to talk to you .

Well, if you've forseen this Master Jedi, then you should write a HOW-TO ROOT and FLASH document to help those out that may be interested. Also you should link how to write mods, and beginners walkthroughs on being helpful towards the development of new apps.

Apparently even though you're rooted, the system folder cannot be overwritten which is where the host file is located. I've noticed a few "root" apps don't work properly because of this. Not sure how to fix this......

How is this done? What happens when there is an update to the ROM? Will there be any data loss/feature loss when switching the kernel?

If you are rooted you can't get OTA's anyway. Look in the main HTC One forums, the kernels there have steps you can follow to install them.

I know I can't get OTA's, but I meant just flashing an updated ROM. Also what does modifying kernels affect? Data loss? Feature loss? Please let me know. Most importantly I do not want to lose WiFi Calling.

Get the ROM I linked, you still get all the features of the stock ROM and way better performance and batterylife, and you still get WiFi Calling on the phone. I love the ROM and it has the camera and GPS fixes that T mobile hasn't given us yet.
yeap what he said. most of the international roms are bug free and lean as **** now. almost all of them have setups for ATT/TMO/international. (sorry sprint you got ****ed)
i'm on ordroid 4.2.0 and se7en kernel. and everything works fine. the nice thing about the international roms are they are rebased on the international 1.29 version of the rom that HTC has already pushed out. But since carriers love to push bloatware and test the roms to make sure they dont break the phones it will take a while before TMO or even ATT to have the 1.29 version of the roms out.

The ROM comes with the new Kernel, you have to reset your phone though when coming from the stock ROM. All you need to do is flash the ROM off his thread and it contains everything you need, no need to flash anything else.

So far, it's been fantastic, and WiFi calling still works! Some added features are menulogo, and swipe to wake up. This way I get to keep everything stock with all the added benefits of root.

Have an HTC One coming next week and the idea of being able to replace it with stock Android makes it potentially much sweeter. I love the Nexus 4 performance and it does everything I want but I can't get over how nice the One is every time I hold it so I had to pick one up to try it out as my daily driver. Had a One X awhile back running Viper ROM which was very nice so I would imagine I can just run with the stock Sense until stock Android is available. Saves me from buying the Googled version of the One if HTC will be providing an update.
I could never give up Highlights & Zoe.
I'm fine with Sense. Just need root and I can do whatever I need.

[Q] Camera not working

Hi guys
I've been running custom ROMs on my DX since about February and I've tried almost all the ICS ROMs, Skydragon, MySense, Sense Revolution, etc. Currently I'm running Shadow and everything runs fine. However, my Camera has not been working ever since I first flashed a custom ROM. It just opens to a black screen and closes. I've tried all the different kernels to figure out the problem, but it works with none of them.
What is going on? any help would be appreciated.

I have a suspicion that it's kernel related, try flashing stock kernel with a sense ROM and see if that works. It may be that you have a kernel (a boot.img) running which causes your camera to not function.
