Headphones volume is limited - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
I've got an European version of Z2.
I was driving car, I have my phone connected via AUX jack-jack cable to car stereo. Everything was fine, but suddenly music started to play quieter. I tried to press VOL+ button, but it doesn't help. I thought I will get an info about noisy music listening risk, and I can bring my volume level back. But no. And I don't know what should I do to unlock it. I don't want to "virtually" boost it, or anything, I just want to "unlock" volume level when headphones are plugged. That's all. I know that maybe loud listening is bad, but EU, please, I will care about it by myself. Especially when music is going to CAR AUDIO!?
Unrooted.
Thanks in advance

Headset problem / feature

Hi All
I have been told by o2 that the following is a feature:
When my XDA has an incoming call, with the headset plugged in, the 'ringing' only sounds from the headset instead of the speaker.
Is this a feature or a fault?
Comments gratefully received
I'd say bit of both.
I've had my headset plugged in and heard the ringtone through both the headset AND the unit itself, but perhaps there's a way of making it so that the headset is the only audio (perhaps plugging the jack in whilst on silent then turning it back up?).
I've definitely had the headset ring out whilst the jack is connected.
A
Feature or fault, that's a hard one to call!
I would say it working as designed, since the headset will always override the speaker in any fashion.
I've never heard of this. All the US units ring in BOTH if the headset is plugged in. Unfortunately, message notification and alarms sound only in the headset though.
Hi,
As far as I have found out the behavior is not consistent. My device sometimes only ring in the headset and sometimes ring both. I have found out if you plug in the headset and connect via USB cable to the PC it will always ring both in headset and speaker. This is true even after you have unplugged the USB. Seems to me some flag I set during USB connation that enables this... ?!
For notifications - this only works via the headset... for me at least.
I find this annoying - the SmartPhone works as it should in regards to this.
I run 4.00.05 baked at this site... keep up the good work !
I had this similiar feature/bug experience too.
My XDA rings both on the headset and its speaker. One day, at some point, I managed to put it into a strange state. I started playing an mp3 with the windows media player (WMP) without the handset, it played thru its speaker (that's correct). And then I plug in the headset, mp3 came out from only the headset (that's correct too).
After that, I pressed "stop" the mp3 in the WMP, and then "play" again, mp3 came out thru both the headset and its speaker.
I don't seem to be able to reproduce this "feature" anymore now. Well, of course, that's after a reboot a while later.
In fact, now I've got a question then. Does that mean the on/off of the speaker can be controlled in software? AFAIK, like the iPAQ, it's controlled in the hardware, that means if you plug in a headphone, the speaker of the unit will be off.
Does that mean the on/off of the speaker can be controlled in software?

Yes, evidenced by the phone behaviour. Most devices use a simple contact in the headset connector to disengage the speaker, but obviously not the PE.

I would rather ask it to be a user defined option. I believe the current setup (both ringing) came after noticing that you can simply forget your headset plugged in so you may miss some calls.
But in some situations (ex: meetings) I would like to keep the headset plugged in and get the rining only through it.

Supplied S2 Headphones . Not working very well..

Hey, My supplied headphones use to work great. am not sure whether or not ive pulled the wire's too far or somthing, but anyway. Only 1 speaker is working , and the other is Very Low... When i play music and keep the (button on the cable) pushed in. The music on the Low speaker becomes louder, but not as loud as what i should be.
Also , I use to be able to push the button, and it would pause / Play the music, now it just starts the track from the beggining, And when am in call i use to be able to hang up, but now it does nothing.
Does this sound like the phone or the headset?
thanks
Craig
Make sure headphone jack is fully home first .

[Q] Optimus V Headphone Volume for MP3 Player Use

I got the Optimus V at the recent Cyber Monday deal at Virgin Mobile - for one major purpose - to use it as an mp3 player for my car. I have not activated the phone, do not plan to, have wifi on it only.
The built-in speaker on it is pretty loud, so I am surprised that the headphone volume is very low. I have to turn my car volume all the way up to max to hear anything (driving highway).
I wonder if LG turned the volume low to prevent people from killing their ear-drums. Is there any solution out there without having to activate the phone and install alternate rom on it? I have turned the volume in settings all the way high, and I have Pandora, and I have set the audio setting to high on Pandora preferences.
Pls. let me know if my objective cannot be achieved without rooting and installing a custom ROM, I would prefer not to activate this phone.
Thanks for any help.
Shameless bump...I have Volume Control+ which does not help at all.
you hear low sound in headphone ?
what are you connecting it to?
Yes, I have a low volume on the headphone too. I connect it to the aux port on the car radio using a regular Stereo Jack. My Car radio is a Pioneer system, which has great sound with other mp3 players.

YP-GI1 lower volume after pausing

This is an issue that's been affecting my device from the beginning. Sometimes the volume feels louder than usual: to prove it's not just my imagination, if I pause the device (or switch to another song), after resuming the volume is sensitively lower, although I assume the latter is what is supposed to be the regular volume. In order to restore the 'louder' volume, I need to unplug and quickly replug my headphones, yet it doesn't always seem to work.
I've been wondering if it may be related to the volume limiter included in the drivers that gets somehow disabled and then enabled after I pause and resume.
Did anybody experience this?
I'm using the Uk version of the Yp-GI1, it mounts a stock rom (rooted) and my music player is Poweramp.

I have similar issues, but it doesn't occur often enough for it to bug me.
My symptoms are that sometimes after starting playing audio (I mostly listen to podcasts using DoggCatcher), I can barely hear the audio at all. Unplugging the headphones and plugging them back in fixes the issue.
I always thought that it was a slight defect in my headphone jack causing this. I know when I wiggle the headphone plug when it is plugged in, the audio cuts in/out. As such, I have always kind of figured the defect was associated with the mechanism in the headphone jack that detects when headphones are plugged in (or something else in the jack).
The other audio shift that I notice is associated wtih podcasts that are recorded at a low volume level. When I listen to these, I have to crank the volume. When I pause and then resume the podcast, the player reverts to a lower volume automatically, which I then have to turn up. I have assumed this was by design so that you don't blow your ears out!
I agree that podcast are recorded at a lower volume, I'm a big listener too, but my issue is slightly different. First off it occurs with every pair of headphones/earphones I plug into the device, none of which is faulty. Besides, I don't know how the louder volume is triggered, but I do know that pausing and resuming, or switching to another song turn the volume down of 20-30% and it stays lower until I unplug and plug the headphones again...

Beats Studio3 Wireless and Galaxy S9.

Hello! My name is Efraín and I am new in this forum.
I want to know if someone can help me; Last week I bought the Beats Studio3 wireless headphones, I paired them successfully and I was able to listen to music. Everything was perfect. After that, I turned off the headphones and the bluetooth on my phone.
Then the problem appeared when I wanted to listen to music again, I connected the phone and the headphones and I could not listen to music, I specified music because I could hear the phone calls. The only thing I could not hear was the multimedia audio (youtube, spotify, samsung music, etc.).
After trying and trying, I noticed that the only way was; or reset the headphones (10 seconds the power button and lower the volume) or, pair the headphones and, when the headphones were activated, turn off the bluetooth of my phone and then turn it on again.
It's a shame, I've already talked to Apple, they told me to go to the warranty, but the nearest technical service is 500 km from my city.
I even tried my brother's iPhone 8 and it worked perfectly.
If someone can help me, I would be very grateful.
Greeting and thanks!
Efraín.
