Hi everyone, I have been playing with a Nokia Lumia UK model for a few months now and everything has been great until last Saturday...when I plucked it from my pocket and it wouldn't do anything...it wouldn't come on, reboot or do anything.
I guess it might have something to do with the minimum battery indication problem and it not holding a charge so I tried charging all night and have tried plugging it and out, switching it on and off, holding the power button, doing a hard reset to no avail.
If I have it connected to the charger and I hold the power button down, upon release the device will buzz and then about 2 mins later it will buzz again and thats it.
I thenhad the idea to plug it into my PC and hold the power button and one of two things will happen - it will buzz and then show up as a USB Input Device with the ID USB\VID_045E&PID_0773&REV_0664&ML02 or if I do a hard reset holding the camera button, volume button and power button it will buzz and shows up on my PC as removable storage and a Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM. If I browse the volume in the disk management console I can see the partition structure of the device...
I have been struggling to get anything from my lovely Lumia and wondered if anyone had an idea I could try...would deleting one of the partitions force it to do a ROM reset or something to bring it back to life?
I'm not sure this will work, but it might. However, if it does, it will completely wipe your phone and put it back to factory settings.
Download Nokia Care Suite 5.0 (2011.51.2.63048), link here: http://mir.cr/T38IZ2V1
Then use Nokia Data Package Manager (download here: http://www.seidea.com/category/data-package-manager/) to download an RM-801 firmware that is the same product code as your phone.
Then follow recovery procedure here: http://www.seidea.com/2011/12/28/nokia-care-suite-5-0-2011-51-2-63048/
Good luck.
Hey i have found one having the same problem as that of yours but then here forums.techarena.in/portable-devices/1450618.htm are some solutions that you can try out, just check it out and see if it it helps.

Unfortunately, from what I gather from the unlocked bootloader thread, it seems that if you formatted the removable storage it's basically impossible to recover the phone with any of the current tools so I think you guys are out of luck
@mfurse just plug it to the power source (USB , socket , it doesn't matter ) and keep the phone warm!!!!
It will "jump start" it
I did that twice for my girlfriend's phone and it works
I just plugged it to my USB and left it on my overheated laptop keyboard )))

Not that I know of. But we should all help out and work out a solution to those that have bricked their lumias.
Using ubuntu, plug your Lumia into the usb port. What size is the disk drive displayed on Disk Utility? Also how many partitions are there?
Because if the whole lumia is formatted, then sorry you can't do much. However if only one particular partition is formatted, then you may have a chance.
Is there any solution guys

This has the same as mine...I want to check if UBUNTU can see the partition. VMWARE will just install the same driver.

I mean what in the solution throw the phone in the trash

Every possible solution I know needs your device to be turned on. Your only option is to send it in for a repair.

If you cant fix it. Bring it to NOKIA CARE they have all the tools. Just lie when they ask what happen. Tell them your phone messed up when you're updating to ZUNE. That reason works

Hi,
Just few random thoughts on the subject:
- Why Nokia/MS choose to use such CPU for it's flagship phone ? Even microcontrollers these days have laser cut ROM with built in USB driver
- There are some professional third party tools for Qualcomm phones(mostly Android) that allow JTAG recovery of phones with empty/damaged
NAND chip, so far no support for Nokia, i assume the JTAG is disabled on the Lumia
- Maybe they were just testing the waters and all of us were just unwilling Beta testers for their product. New WP8 phones will have better HW?
Feel sorry for all people that have damaged their phones by mistake.

Hi, I'm a total noob when it comes to WP and Lumias, but a friend who knows me as being interested in phones has come to me with a problem.
The screen of his Lumia 800 is competely smashed. He has got an estimate for it to be fixed, but they will wipe the memory of the phone - along with all his important work contacts. He has never backed these up in any way.
He said he just downloaded Zune to try and back everything up, but it's impossible since he cannot see or use the touchscreen of the phone.
Suggestions?
JusThinK said:
If the phone can boot up successful, and can be recognize by ZUNE, then you can take backup.
You don't have to use your touchscreen for taking backup.
Use this tool to take backup.

Thanks very much. Turns out all his contacts were backed up in Live after all!
Ok, so my friend's contacts were backed up to Live but now he's asking for me to get the photos off the device.
WP7 Easy Backup Tool was suggested before, but it only works if you're restoring to the same device...
Is there any way to get the photos off this phone before he sends it away to be "repaired" (eg. wiped or replaced)? He has some irreplaceable photos of his pregnant wife and newborn child on there - yes, I know and you know he should've copied them off the phone long ago, but this is the situation he's now in!

If his device is paired in Zune they Pictures are synced automatically. Does he have a Qualcomm or DLOAD bootloader?

1. I have no idea if it is. Does pairing it require use of the touchscreen (if it isn't already paired)?
2. I have no idea. How would I find out, and is there something that can be done if it's one or the other?
I can find out tomorrow.
Thanks!
First of all there is no need for a wipe of the device when you replace the screen, sounds more like they are swapping the complete phone.
When you have Zune installed and running, then connect the phone it will attach itself and sync photos and other media files depending on settings in Zune.
Replacing the screen is a 5 minute job, you could easily do it yourself and get the parts off of Ebay so do not get fooled into any high cost repair due to labour. A Nokia Care Point will charge you about 150 GBP for a screen assy (ex labour), on Ebay they can be had for about 90.
Hi guys/gals,
I've been passed a Nokia 710 by a friend of mine. She managed to drop it in a bowl of water at work and has been refused a fix under warranty (not surprising). This was a few weeks ago, so the phone is fully dried out. It boots up, makes the start-up sounds and the three buttons on the front work, but the screen is totally blank - although touch-screen response seems to work still.
I have installed Zune, but whenever I connect the phone I get "Phone setup incomplete" and a message to disconnect the phone and complete the remaining steps on the phone. Without a screen to see I have no idea what I should be doing.
Is there a simple solution to this, or is there some way of connecting to the internal memory to recover the data from it some other way?

How did she do that, I don't think you can recover the data from your phone, Zune is giving you an update error which means that the update isn't intalled completly.
What you can do, but you had to do that a lot earlier, is to put the phone in a bowl of rice (not water ) and wait a few days, that's the only thing I can think about at the moment.
Succes,

She had the phone in her pocket when she bent over. I think the problem may be down to a key-lock on the phone which needs to be entered first, but am waiting for her to get back to me.
Thanks for the help though, I didn't expect much else.

Plug it into a Linux machine and copy direct from the phone as any other USB flash drive would work
Or uninstall Zune and use the reg hack to allow that to be done in windows

Fantastic, thank you. Following the link you posted also took me to another site USB Storage Enabler for Windows Phones 7 which might be useful for anyone else coming up against this in the future, or simply wanting to use their device as a USB drive, not requiring Zune.

I think the phone is reset entirely..
and the reason you couldn't connect to zune is because you haven't completed the initial boot procedures...
There are many ways to get your phone started...
But I don't think its of any use unless, you have your screen working..
Hello all,
I have a Samsung S7 edge that recently got ran over by a golf cart (long story). The phone still makes noise however the screen is crushed and has no display. I have insurance so the phone is being replaced. My big issue is I have pictures of my kids on there I really do not want to lose. I have researched and researched and cannot find a way to get into the phone. If I plug it in via usb it starts charging and shows up in windows however without having access to the screen I cannot enable file sharing. Is there any way to recover my photos? My wife is going to lose it if I cant get them back and trust me, no one wants that (especially me).
I appreciate any help....
This is for Samsung Galaxy
visit this site: http://www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/apps/find-my-mobile/
Log in and unlock your screen remotely, click this and when the progress bar filled it will say 'your phone is now unlocked'.
Connect with your USB Cable and Kies will allow you access to your files.
Hope this will help!
Thanks for the response. This is one of the many things I have tried. Unfortunately I never registered my phone with Samsung and since I cant access the screen I cannot set it up.
New phone comes tomorrow and I have to send the old one back. Anyone have any ideas? I'm really at a loss here...
