Nexus devices up to this point are pretty friendly when it comes to unlocking the bootloader. My guess is that the devs will be able to achieve this fairly quickly.
Also, HTC has a section on their website devoted toward helping you unlock your HTC device.
Haven't received mine yet...I keep checking the Play Store

Yes. >http://techegis.com/unlock-htc-nexus-9-bootloader-guide/

Great, it seems like we don't need to send HTC our device info to unlock the nexus 9. So there should not be any loss of warranty when unlocking it.
Also, it appears that there is no s-on to mess with. Happy flashing.
Nexus devices are pretty much the only ones you can officially unlock without losing your warranty.

IMO, ALL tablets of the WIFI variety should be 100% unlockable. I'd never buy a laptop or computer that won't let me put any compatible OS on it I choose. if its not carrier sub. it should be yours to do with as you please. period.

Please note there is a check box in developer options to "enable oem unlock. Otherwise you get "permission denied for this command" when you try to fastboot oem unlock. Cheers

Thanks man, I didn't see that!

Here's a video I made unlocking the Nexus 9 bootloader:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJEORWbf658

so unlocking wipes the device? anything else missing afterwards?
probably no ones will know this yet, but will this prevent future ota updates?

You can unlock the bootloader under the development tab in settings. http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/1...-6-9-requires-checking-box-developer-options/

That is required. Still need to fastboot oem unlock in fastboot usb mode in bootloader.

Can the bootloader be re-locked as per previous Nexus Devices?
Edit, you can! fastboot oem lock - works fine!

Is there any way around it? My N9 got stuck in a bootloop and I've been trying to reflash the factory image.

You must have an account to login, which you can just create if you don't. Then go through the unlock process....very simple!!
Good Luck!
I unlocked mine but what can we do with it? I attempted to root.. still get access denied.. I guess it's better than nothing
Got mine unlocked. Finally ATT devices get unlocked bootloader. Now devices are ready for S-OFF and Permanent ROOT. If device get S-OFF you can install any kind of ROM to it and made device supercid.
BTW mine got from ATT and I hate that rom. Its a totally crap and slow. I try to update my device with the latest Rogers rom if device get S-OFF.
wait, what?
i couldnt see the jetstream in the list over at HTCDEV..what am i missing?
it's not on the list, but you can still go through with it
on my way. cheers.
on stage 8, CMD - all i get after the fastboot oem get_identifier_token line is "waiting for device"
what do i do?
edit: got it. installed htc sync which contains the proper USB drivers.
S-OFF'ed mine!
So whos going to get me a custom recovery and root =D?
Giblet

MID Not Allowed

Ok so Ive been having the same issues as everyone else today. I just tried HTCdev again and got the the following message;
"We're sorry, but it appears your attempt to unlock the bootloader on this device has failed. This could be caused by several factors including simple errors in the entry of the unlock token, problems with your device, or a lack of manufacturer support for the unlocking process. Please see the specific error code listed below, and try again if necessary.
Error Code: 160.
Error Reason: MID Not Allowed. "
This is after several attempts. I have tried maybe 6 times and each time it said it was successful until now.
What do I do now. This is the second and most frustrating DNA ive unlocked this week...
When you copy the token are you including the before and after id start and end?? If not you should be..
This part should be copied:
>>>>>indentifier token start<<<<<<<
>>>>>indentifier token end<<<<<<<
Do not pick DNA from the device list. Choose All Others (or similar) instead.

I would also like to know the answer to your question.
Install. A stock rooted odexed rom. delete superuser.apk from /system
install stock recovery found in the international forums ( do this in fastboot)
issue the command fastboot oem lock in fastboot
the bootloader will say relocked, and I think it will still say tampered, but I'm not sure

I just did it the other day and btw there are posts about this but u have asked so here it is.
Use a different usb port. Use a usb2.0 port if possible, 3.0 has problems with htc one.
Be in the fastboot menu and then let it work. Try again if unsuccessful.
Uninstall drivers for your device and reinstall them.
BTW did u restart your phone after locking so that is shows its locked. or did you read the line after it tried to lock it.

Nevermind, I found how to do it. What I did is followed the step on this website: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314582 to Lock my bootloader but to have it on S-off. Then I followed the steps on this website: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358738 so I could S-on my bootloader. Now I am running stock sense 5 with bootloader locked and s-on! Thanks for trying to help me though

Only way to unlock bootloader is from the htc website and it will have all your tools to unlock it on the top right corner on the website. IF your on windows type adb devices adb root
OK. I will try to get it to work. Thanks for your input!
