Hi, today i have updated my tablet (model SP511) to the android 4.4.4. After the update I have noticed that closing the cover is not putting the tablet on sleep and the screen stays on. Opening the cover works as expected. Anyone else with this issue or i am missing something?

OTA.
I wish there was more firmwares to flash for this tablet. The phone there's loads, but it's clearly the best tablet and there's nothing.
Same here + no root Went back to 4.4.2
Aww. That sucks! Sony always do this! That means there'll be another update in a week or two to fix that!
My tab hasn't this problem. I've updated it via PC Companion.
If it helps...
Witch model?
SGP511 / 16Gb Wifi only.
Same for me too. I hope it will be fixed soon : that is quite annoying.
32 Go SGP512, updated via OTA
(BTW I had troubles with my regular headphones from xiaomi wich now works fine!)
I have a SGP521 (16GB+LTE) and I have updated to 4.4.4 without experiencing this issue. I updated using the Bridge for Mac software (not OTA).
My tablet isn't sleeping any more with the smart cover after going to 4.4.4 ota. Going to try a reboot

And that didn't help. Darn it. I'm so used to that auto sleep on close, I can look forward to reduced battery life until this is fixed then

This bug has been reported in Sony's support forum, they said they are looking into it. I also have this problem, and I updated via flashtool with factory reset.
I have just got off the phone with Sony support and they have escalated this issue and are looking for a Z2 tablet to test it on.
They did also suggest that I tried doing the update not OTA as this can cause issues but it seems to affect people either way looking at this thread.
Same problem here, very annoying. No official Sony cover.
Did a fresh install with root.
same issue. updated ota. the case is now useless as it causes the tablet not sleep if I forget to turn it off manually
same here.
Now I'm disappointed: lid doesn't work, root doesn't work, backlight sometimes broken...
Same issue here.
It's okay if nothing is running that keeps the tablet awake as it sleeps after a while anyway. Unfortunately, if your wife is playing candy crush and just closes the lid and it will just run down the battery!

Hi, I just got my OTA update yesterday for my TF201 and today when i tried using the camera i realized it does not work... all i get is a green flashing screen for where the camera image is suppose to be.... i have attached an image of what happens.....
Has anyone experienced this? Any ideas on how to fix??
Everything was working fine before the ICS update... i have taken tons of pictures with the camera....
Also when i have the camera app open in ICS, i can hear the camera turning on and off physically... i just cant actually view anything
I had a camera firmware update immediately after installing ICS. If you didn't do that you might check that out.
I am fairly certain that i saw a camera update get applied as well.. since then.. this happened.........
When i go into settings and search for updates, it says nothing can be found
i have the same with mine, uuuggghhh
i actually contacted asus and there only answer was to go back to oem 3.2 and lose all my data
i have also had issues with my wifi dropping off when the unit goes to sleep
not sure how this stuff makes it to production like this
Mine is the same now but seems to clear up after toggling from the main camera to the display side camera and back.

You are not alone. We are having the same issue with the rear camera. Below is the post started by another member two days ago. It seems there is just a small percentage of tablets experiencing this issue. Either this or there is not many people testing out their camera after ICS update yet.

Did the Asus support show you how to go back to oem 3.2 ? or if you know how, can you show us ? I would rather try to flash it back to 3.2 (hopefully Asus can fix this latter) than sent mine back to amazon and wait for god know how long until they have the tablet in stock again.

I got an update from Zune, but it was OS update only. There was no firmware. Should I restore and try it again?
It'll come later, some have got the firmware and not the OS.
Thanks for letting me know.
I just got a similar reply on Nokia Support. They're being pushed seperately. The user I replied to had received the firmware, but not the OS update yet.
I'll try to be more patient.
I just did the disconnect trick, and it's downloading 8107, will report what firmware I have when it's done

Got 8107 + new firmware in one go
Tried the disconnect trick when the last update was being rolled out but wasn't working. :S I thought they fixed it?
Clearly not
Also, MVNO's are better supported now, my phone shows Giffgaff instead of O2-UK, not seen that in a while!
I'll give it a go.. Hopefully it works this time around.. Any tips?
Took me about 5 goes to time it right. Best tip is preserver I guess. I also turned flight mode on as I read that helps.

+1 to this. took a few attempts, worked in the end
Just managed to get it updating. It's getting new Windows verison, not sure about FW tho, will have to wait for it to finish and check.
Any noticable improvements yet? I know it's too early though
Mine only said Windows version, but firmware was included too. Auto-brightness seems better, diagnostic app contains more stuff. Charging now to see new capacity.
I just flashed back to 11451 via NCS, then forced the update through Zune.
I got both the OS update and firmware (8106.11500). I'm hoping this firmware is the answer to all our battery problems. Full charge capacity is sitting at 1483mAh. Will post back if it starts to drop (like on all the other firmwares)...
T-Mobile USA Zune Force Update Worked..
Flashed and have joy now..
Like others mentioned above, battery capacity reads 1481 rather than 1517; so was this the correction I wonder?
Will have to see how it performs over the coming days.
Autobrightness seems to work MUCH better; that alone will conserve some power.
Going to close down my system and go home now; I am curious if Bluetooth will be any better. I have a Nokia J - works better than non-Nokia, but have had to re-pair it a few times due to repeated connection dropoffs. Want to see if A2DP will work now. And of course, will try the camera to see if there is anything else good there (in spite of prior reports..)
Cheers
[1st Edit]
Ok, so far BT is holding together but we'll see.. I'll have to see if the belt holster throws it off. Still no A2DP though.. Podcasts, music, and Nokia Drive voices still play through speaker and won't route through headset.
[Edit 2]
Camera.. Nuts.. Spoke too soon. At work under fluorescents.. No pink spot. Came home .. Under halogen, spot is still there unless I use flash. So looks like nothing changed after all except the focus default setting (whoop dee dee... )
[Edit 3] Bluetooth seems very stable.. Going to try now with a non-Nokia earpiece..

No mention from Sony of the unwanted powering off issues.

Powering Off Issue
Had the issue where it would shut down and sent it to Sony Support. They have since sent it back "fixed". I can't say if it's gone or not because I still need to pick it up from the post office. They said that it was a software problem and they fixed it (as well as replace the back cover). Will let you all know if it's gone. Perhaps hidden in the release 6a update is the fix for this?

I sent my Xperia Tablet S in for the same reason, all they did was replace the back panel, they claimed there were no software problems, but they have me unconvinced. It still shuts off randomly, mostly while watching something on the YouTube app. The update seemed to only have fixed the wifi disconnects, and VPN issues. I think it's something in the firmware that Sony needs to fix before the shut down problem will be fixed.

I just bought a SGP311 (US Wifi 32G). When researching what tablet to buy, I did see some reference to phantom screen touches when flexing the screen, but I think the video said it was cleared up by firmware updates.
Mine is running .370, which I understand to be the newest available for the SGP311 (25 Aug 2013).
I find the phantom touches so sensitive and terrible that I can't believe there is not more stink about this on the internet. For example, if I'm holding the tablet with two hands and reach away with one hand, the resulting pressure from holding the tablet with the other hand causes touches all over the screen, wreaking havoc on whatever I'm doing. It even happens if I push "too hard" e.g. when playing a game excitedly.
Do I have a particularly bad unit for this? Is there a way to fix or mitigate this?
As it is, I don't think I can keep it - it's just too frustrating to use. If I hold it lightly and with two hands it's fine, but anything else - there's a high probability of touches all over the screen, especially in the Back button area
Mine doesn't do it. Or I'm not holding it "incorrectly"
Can you link to/upload a video showing this behaviour? You may want to turn on developer options->show touches to get an idea of what touches the device sees.
I have the same problem as the original poster...
Bought mine today and was messing around with it. Then I noticed the tablet 'doing stuff on its own'. After a quick test I realised I could reproduce the error by holding it in landscape and twisting it slightly. This resulted in either the back button being activated (lower left corner activated / pushed) or the settings notification area popping up (lower right corner activated).
So I guess they should have used a stiffer material as the back cover. But then again it seems almost inconceivable that the testers wouldn't have encountered this issue, if it was universal... so I'm guessing that our units are faulty - sonofabitch!
At the same time its my very unqualified guess that it isn't something which can be fixed by new firmware.
Edit: Just thought of something ... perhaps thats why the UI of the new firmware has changed? No more 'buttons' in the lower corners (as far as Im aware).

I had these same issues with mine when i got it but the update did actually fix mine so its possible that, if you are on the 370 update, that yours is extra sensitive. I have done quite a few flex tests to try to make it happen again and just can't get it to repeat after the update.
I would contact either the place you bought it from if it is within the return/exchange policy or Sony and exchange it.

Im using 10.1.C.0.370 - tablet came with that installed.
For once I actually bought electronics in a physical store (5mins walk away) so I'll go there and get them to replace it - and also test their demo model.
The demo model had the same issues. It also seems the issue is quite widespread judging by the Xperia tablet Z support forum.
The same happens un my LTE 16Gb .244 black versión...
It happens ramdomly, above allí while attached to Power stock charger, but not always...
If Sony doesn't want us to unlock bootloaders and install other ROMs tan stock, why they release such a crappy firmware?
It also happens in my c6603 sometimes un the same conditions as my Tablet, so i think is firmware related
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
So that's what's happening
I am having the exact same issue, in fact I didn't realize it was the flexing that was causing the issue until I read this thread. Now I can reproduce it consistently. I am so bummed, I LOVE this tablet, Sony has a lot of great stuff they put into this tablet and the form factor is amazing. I am pretty disappointed though because this makes it pretty hard to use. I checked and I am running the latest firmware. For what they charge for this thing you would think it would be a better piece of hardware. Back to Best Buy I go I supposed.

Spanish unbranded FW... Seems that the problem concentrates on navigation bar, but not only... I have the visible touches enabled on developer section of settings, and can see the ghosts...

Its really noticeable on 4.1.2 and 4.2.2?
It seems to be main reason to not buy this. ;/
My brand new Tablet Z running 4.2.2 is acting out aswell. When in portrait mode, it seems obsessed with ghost tapping home or return...
Edit: Turned screen "logging" on. Dammit, the screen goes haywire at just the tiniest bit of flexing - even when NOT flexing... Sigh.
I've gone back to the correct fw for mine and it's settled down a bit, it still does it now and then, but nowhere near as much as it used to.

There's only been one update since the phone came out, and that was in April.
Went out to get the mail, came back and I noticed a download icon on my phone, turns out its in the middle of an update. File size is 477.3mb. I already have the update from April, so Im not sure what this'll be. Guess I'll know within the hour, as its downloading quite slowly.

I just finished downloading it myself. It's at updating now... (1/2) stage right now. I hope they fix all the issues and complains people had, or at least most of them.
It went from 11a to 12b. I do not notice any differences yet, but I didnt experience issues prior to the update either.
Hopefully this fixed my Bluetooth issues. I installed it and will try it when I leave work to see if my streaming issue goes away (static/crackle).

The latest update bricked my phone this morning. It got stuck on the LG screen, then occasionally flashing the "Your device is corrupt. It can't be trusted and my not work properly." I couldn't even factory reset it. Took it to a Verizon store and they couldn't do anything either. At least they will FedEx me another phone overnight.

For me, this update broke the BLuetooth transmission of audio track data to my car stereo head unit. I post in the general G6 forum earlier:
'I have a new G6 and a new problem with Play Music. When connected via Bluetooth to my 2016 Subaru Outback head unit, Play Music track info does not appear on the head unit display. My previous LG G5 had no problem doing this consistently. Other apps like Pocket Casts displays track info, no problem. I reviewed the G6 supported Bluetooth profiles and they are compatible with the Subie head unit.
This is maddening! Has anyone else experienced this and then found a solution?

UPDATE: I had this phone replaced with fresh G6. It was still on the 11a Verizon software version. Connected it to the car head unit via Bluetooth, played Google Play Music, got all the info on the head unit as it was supposed to do. Updated to 12b software version, no more music information displayed on the head unit. So, the 12b update breaks this for Play Music. Some other audio apps still display info but Play Music and Soundcloud are broken."
